Social media is a giant mess of all different kinds of things a lot of the time, but it can also be used extremely positively. This weeks guest, Kelsey Darragh, proves that point 10 times over. Listen in as we talk about Covid, Anxiety, Depression and most importantly; being authentic to yourself and how you feel. Make sure you keep an eye out for her book all about mental health that's coming out soon! In Kelsey's words, it's the book she wished she would have had when she was younger. Don't F*cking Panic Kelsey Darragh is a comedian, mental health advocate, filmmaker, and, most recently, author, who can be seen on E!’s “Dating: No Filter,” and releasing her first book (workbook) Don’t F*cking Panic: The Sh*t They Don’t Tell You in Therapy About Anxiety Disorders, Panic Attacks & Depression, that is on pre-sale now. The book greatly details anxiety and depression, touching on things that came from her own experience with mental health struggles. She first went viral on YouTube ten years ago with her video “Shit Girlfriends Say.” She began to attract more followers and started a web series on her channel. From there, she began making digital content for Buzzfeed like “Ladies’ Room” and “Adult Sh*t.” She created a top-tier show for Comcast’s “Watchable” called “Am I Doing This Right?” In 2019, she was selected as a Sundance New Voice writer for her dark comedy series “Where We Are.” With an average viewership of 14+ million, Darragh tackles topics like sex, beauty, and mental health. Darragh is also a passionate member and supporter of the LGBTQ community as she identifies as queer and bisexual. The mental health of LGBTQ community members is a large priority for her. She also is involved with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, an organization of more than 600 local affiliates who work to educate, advocate, and listen to improve the lives of those with mental illness and their loved ones. She also supports Better Help, an online therapy service that allows people to have access to professional counseling via online chat, video, or phone. As a foster dog mom, Darragh supports the LA County animal shelters. Make sure you subscribe, follow, rate, review - or whatever else you feel like doing if you enjoy what we're doing! EEG. TMS. XYZ? Why am I typing random letters at the beginning of this? Well, two of those sets of letters aren't random actually, and are extremely applicable to mental health. This week, I got to learn a TON from Dr. Erik Won about the brain, neuroscience and some new methods of helping mental health that I had no clue about. And we talk about sleep. Sometimes we forget that celebrities battle the same things we do. Daniel McCartney is a talent agent that has experienced touring as a musician in his younger years, and has also seen quite a bit with people he's managed over the years having to do with just that. So what did he do? He decided to help. He founded The Continuance Foundation - which is geared specifically towards celebrities and musicians getting the mental health support they need with the rigors of touring and promoting and everything else they do.
