Man of Steel brought out some deep seated truths! We talk about heroes and the nature of heroism. We question Zach Synder's interpretation while recognizing the things he's great at, iconography, visuals, great individual moments and a truly epic scale. Man Of Steel tells the story of Kah-el becoming the hero we know as Superman. Listen in as we break down the run time, the true nature of Superman (to us, at least), what we would have like to have seen or done differently and if the movie asks us to fill in the blanks where we don't want to and answers questions that we don't ask! Also, does Superman have a secret identity? Does he need one in Zach Snyder's Universe?Oh, and we love Amy Adams!check out the youtube for additional content. Close your eyes and picture the 1980s. Well, don't close them because you have to keep reading. What do you see and hear? Aquanet? Bangs? A magazine hidden under a teenage boy's bed? High-pitched male vocals? Nunchucks? Playboy Playmates...I mean Angels...I mean highly-skilled operatives of "The Agency" take down a presumably-notorious Kingpin. It's not paradise all the time. Unfortunately, investigation isn't LETHAL's strong suit, so we never really have any dots connected. But this movie is jam-packed with what The Agency does specialize in, explosions, gun fights, bikinis and boobs. Hard Ticket Final Grades Steve: Mid-Tier, middle of the road, perfectly average. Excellent soundtrack. Watchable. 50% Brandon found a certain charm in the 1980s nostalgia and he has a soft spot for blow-up dolls that blow up and a toilet snake that can only be killed by a bazooka round to the face. Above average. 69% Cocktail of the Week: Tom Collins 2 ounce Old Tom Gin 1 ounce fresh-squeezed lemon juice. 1 rich simple syrup Combine/shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain, over ice, into tall/Collins glass. Top with Club Soda. Garnish with a lemon wheel and some Luxardo cherries. An all-time classic. In Episode 1538, Sean Woodley is joined by Katie Heindl (DIME, Basketball Feelings) to chat about ascending Toronto Raptors star Scottie Barnes, who has been by far the biggest bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming 11-15 Toronto Raptors start to the season. Off the top, Sean and Katie chat about what's most stood out to them about Scottie's ongoing leap and what parts of his game have been the most entertaining to watch and track in the season's early going. Next, they dig into the Raptors teammates of his that they've had the most fun watching him work with on the floor, with some thoughts on his play alongside O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Pascal Siakam. Lastly, they project ahead and chat about the types of players they'd like to see the Raptors seek to pair with Scottie for the long haul, and chat about why Scottie's play so far this year has helped to salvage the entertainment value of this year's version of the team. Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes were joined by Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel for the daily transition segment. They discussed Holmes' bet with Bernstein that the Panthers would get a punt return touchdown from former Bears receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette in the teams' game Thursday night. In the first quarter, Smith-Marsette did indeed do just that, collecting a punt at the Carolina 21-yard line and taking it to the house for six. Bernstein opened the show by paying off his debt to Holmes.
