Rick Santelli joins Cem Karsan for a conversation that cuts through the noise. From the floor of the Cboe to the era of central bank primacy, Santelli reflects on how markets have been reshaped... not just by technology or policy, but by the loss of honest signals. They cover the Fed's shift from restraint to control, the unintended consequences of zero rates, and why housing, credit, and the long bond may be nearing a breaking point. This isn't a retrospective. It's a clear warning from someone who's seen what happens when incentives go unchecked.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Cem on Twitter.Follow Rick on X.Episode TimeStamps: 00:02 - Introduction to the UGO series01:26 - Introduction to Rick Santelli05:16 - The first trade Santelli ever made06:32 - The historical performance of gold08:39 - Why did Santelli move to interest rates?10:28 - How technology impacts the way we invest13:30 - A shadow Fed president14:46 - How Alan Greenspan changed everything18:47 - We are starting to pay the price of overspending22:04 - Money printing - a daisy chain of a closed circuit23:50 - How do we get out of debt and how does it end?29:06 - How do you invest wisely in today's economy?36:48 - Cost of credit: The lurking financial threat39:03 - How

Welcome to Generation! ⛪︎What does it truly mean to be great? In a culture that idolizes fame, power, and personal achievement, Jesus offers a radically different definition: “Whoever wants to be great must be your servant.” In this message, we explore Mark 10 and Jesus' call to humility, unpacking the confusion surrounding greatness and how pride often cheats us of what God has for us. Through the disciples' misunderstanding, the example of Christ, and real-life reflections, we confront our own ambition and discover the freeing, powerful path of humble service. Greatness isn't out of reach, it's found in giving ourselves away. Let's pursue true greatness together.

When I saw that the podcast's 10th birthday was coming up, I wanted to do something. But what? It would have to be online because my podcast, my friends, my clients, my guests, and my listeners are spread out across the globe. But what should the event look like? I wasn't sure! But I did know that, as well as having the podcast in common, my guests and listeners share a common interest in language and learning. That's a good start! One of my ideas was to record a mini episode while we were together. A couple of people came with prepared questions, but when we opened it up, there were more questions than I'd expected, which was great! I knew about the first four, but the rest of the episode was my spontaneous reactions to questions about what it's like to have a podcast, some of the things that have happened, what having a podcast means for my business, how it feels to be a guest, and my plans for the future - among other topics!I couldn't answer the question about my favourite episode because I really don't have one - but this was one of my favourites. It reminds me of the time that a group of lovely people came together to celebrate the podcast turning 10. In fact, a couple of people commented privately about what a nice group I'd brought together and I hope that new connections, collaborations, and maybe friendships will come from it.Thanks to those who helped me with the event, to those who contributed to this episode, and to everyone who came along last week! Let me know if you have any ideas or topic suggestions for future episodes - I have the calendar for the next 10 years to fill

What does it truly take to transform a simple side hustle into a nationally recognized brand—and what if you could change lives along the way? In this episode of The Angel Next Door Podcast, host Marcia invites Angie Bastian, co-founder of the beloved snack brand BOOMCHICKAPOP, to share the remarkable journey of building a business from the family garage all the way to a multimillion-dollar acquisition. Angie's story challenges the traditional image of entrepreneurship, laying bare both the financial scrambles and the deeply human rewards that accompany the pursuit of a dream.Angie Bastian, who, along with her husband, Dan, started popping kettle corn in 2001 to help fund their children's college education, never imagined she'd become a leader in the natural foods movement. With no prior business experience—Angie was a nurse, her husband a teacher—the Bastians hustled at farmers markets, connected with local sports teams, and relentlessly pushed through setbacks to turn their “Angie's Kettle Corn” into the global phenomenon BOOMCHICKAPOP. Angie's dedication to transparency, clean ingredients, and her community sets her apart as an entrepreneurial role model. This episode is packed with invaluable lessons as Angie details the scrappy financing tactics, the reimagining of their brand, the leap to building their own manufacturing plant, and the deep impact of sharing success with their employees. Cian Walsh, Head of Hedge Funds and Private Debt at Formue, joins Alan Dunne to explore what it means to allocate capital when the macro regime, client expectations, and the structure of markets are all in flux. He explains why the 60/40 model obscures more than it reveals, how he is adapting institutional frameworks for thousands of private clients, and what changes when you view hedge funds not as a bucket, but as a function. From the discipline of sizing trend in a sideways regime to the slow shift from vintage private credit to evergreen, this is a conversation about building portfolios that can hold together when the ground moves.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Alan on Twitter.Follow Cian on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps: 02:12 - Introduction to Cian Walsh05:30 - How does institutional asset allocation stand out?06:39 - Asset allocation in a shifting regime09:33 - A move towards mass customization10:26 - The 60/40 portfolio is dying - what is next?13:28 - The challenges of implementing a total portfolio approach17:16 - Dealing with underperforming strategies20:09 - More growth or more all-weather?23:30 - Why Walsh believes in systematic trading28:51 - Do Walsh hold any long volatility strategies?30:04 - Walsh's process for selecting managers36:55...
I recently stayed at Harmony Lodge, and let me tell you… it blew me away.If the idea of relaxing in a private sauna and hot tub, surrounded by Icelandic nature — and away from the tourist crowds — sounds like a dream, then keep listening. I'll also be sharing an exclusive discount you can use to save up to 25% on your own stay at Harmony Lodge. My Stay at Harmony Lodge: Nestled in the serene South Icelandic countryside, this incredible place is just 10 minutes from Seljalandsfoss, one of the most famous waterfalls in the country. Despite being so close to big attractions, it feels completely remote. You won't hear cars. You won't see crowds. You're just surrounded by open land, mossy hills, and stunning views. Each lodge is built with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, giving you panoramic views of the landscape. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like I had entered a warm, cozy bubble where I could completely unwind. The design is minimal yet luxurious — Scandinavian style with Icelandic charm. And get this — every lodge comes with its own private sauna and hot tub. I honestly don't think I've ever felt so relaxed after a day of exploring. Sitting in the hot tub at sunset with the fresh Icelandic air around me and the quiet of nature all around… It's the kind of peaceful you can't describe — you have to experience it. Perfect Base for Exploring the South Coast: Another thing I loved is how Harmony Lodge strikes the perfect balance: peaceful seclusion, but super close to the major sites. From the lodge, you're:10 minutes from Seljalandsfoss30 minutes from SkógafossJust over an hour from Reynisfjara Black Sand BeachClose to Þórsmörk, Eyjafjallajökull, and many more iconic stops. You can easily explore during the day, then come back to complete privacy and calm — no busy hotels, no noisy hallways, no stress. Special Discount to save on Harmony Lodge for All Things Iceland Listeners: Now, here's the exciting part — I have an exclusive discount for All Things Iceland listeners and followers!✨ Use code JEWELLS10 at checkout to save 10% on your stay at Harmony Lodge.Even better — if you book two nights or more for a stay between now and August 31st, 2025, you can combine my 10% code with their current 15% discount. Max Verstappen won the pole for the British GP - but by Sunday evening that seemed an age away: McLaren-Mercedes scored another easy one-two (or was it a two-one?); Nico Hulkenberg finished a staggering P3 for Sauber-Ferrari; Sir Lewis Hamilton was fourth, thereby losing his 12-year podium streak at Silverstone to the driver who spent more time than any other to break his podium duck - and Max could finish only fifth in a difficult-to-manage Red Bull-Honda. Markets have recovered fast - maybe too fast. Alan and Niels unpack what sits beneath the surface: a bond market brushing off record deficits, volatility draining from asset prices, and trend followers caught between sharp reversals and shrinking conviction. They explore how sentiment, structure, and speed are shaping today's trading environment, and what most investors still underestimate about liquidity, macro policy, and risk. With fresh research in hand, they ask whether drawdowns are misunderstood, if diversification has become an illusion, and why clarity often emerges only after the pain.
