Having been a student of Yoga Psychotherapist Ashley Turner for well over a decade, todays episode is an absolute prividge. Today I share our Insta Live deep dive into the importance of pelvic health, particularly during midlife and menopause. I share my own personal journey; from being unaware of pelvic health issues to becoming a specialised pelvic floor and core coach following her own postpartum experiences, despite being a qualified Physiotherapist. We highlight the lack of quality education and knowledge regarding pelvic floor health in Western medical and yoga training. Despite our different speciality backgrounds, we deeply understand and appreciate the intersecting physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of pelvic health and shed light on the prevailing societal stigma, with the intention of better supporting our women. Growing up in the 90s, many of us were unwittingly steeped in a toxic diet culture. From ultra-skinny models gracing the covers of magazines to the relentless promotion of fad diets, hello cabbage soup, Atkins, Slim Fast, etc. The message was clear; thinner is better, and self-worth is tied to appearance. Fast forward to today, and we're now navigating a journey towards self-love and improved body image, unlearning the damaging beliefs of our youth and trying to set up our daughters (and sons) for a more positive and loving body image towards oneself. Here are some of my favorite accounts to follow on Social Media that I talk about in this episode - Allison Marketti, Sadie Nardini, Ashley Turner, Lauren Cadilac ( feelgooddietitian), Same Previte (find.food.freedom), Alex Light (alexlight_Idn), Victoria Browne, Callie Gullickson, Dana Mercer Ricci, Erin from rawbeautytalks, Sarah Nicole Landry (thebirdspapaya), Kylie Kelce (kykelce), Abby Langer (langernutrition) These accounts are very inclusive for everyone and very body positive. In this episode: - Self-Compassion - How to Practice self-compassion. - Speak to yourself with kindness and recognize that self-worth isn't tied to physical appearance. - I use a few affirmations daily. You are worthy, You are kind, You are strong, You are beautiful Even if on some days I am not feeling it or believe it, I always say them. There is scientific research that this can really help rewire our brain and mood. Also mentioned in this episode daily walking meditations. The ones I do are my own and Cassandra Bodzak. You don't have to study books. Just be in your life and do the best you can and you will be forced into soul lessons.” – Ashley Turner “I met a friend who was really into yoga and he introduced me to it and it started to change my life. And I don't think at the time I knew that I really was depressed and I had suffered these rejections that really dropped my self-esteem. I sort of had like this idyllic eighteen years and then as soon as I got to college, I really lost my sense of self and my confidence. And so then after college when I found yoga, it started to heal me from the inside out.” – Ashley Turner “Yoga really is a psychology. Yoga is a study of the soul, it's a study of how we optimize living this human life, this body, [and] how we master our minds and emotions.” – Ashley Turner “One of my teachers would always say the goal [of therapy] is to move from judgment to understanding. So how do I move from judging myself maybe for having that trigger to really understanding and having compassion for why that might be here?” – Ashley Turner “If you're just addressing the physical level and you're working to get fit and strong and flexible [through yoga], it will still have an effect on your mental health and your energetic capacity.” – Ashley Turner “The breath is the link between the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies.” – Ashley Turner Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Achieving optimal health goes well beyond how we treat our physical bodies. Of course, a good diet and movement are still crucial pillars of well-being, but just as vital is taking care of your emotional and mental health. There's a feedback loop between the physical and emotional bodies, known as the mind-body connection. It shows that we can't address one area of our health without impacting another—it's all connected. My guest in this episode of The Brave Table, Ashley Turner, has built her life's work around this concept. She's married her love of yoga with the science of psychology as a tool to empower others to release past traumas and overcome their shadows so they can heal and thrive. Ashley is a yoga–meditation expert, Licensed Psychotherapist, speaker, writer, facilitator, and 7-figure entrepreneur. Her mission is to integrate yoga and meditation into the mainstream medical and educational systems by training highly-skilled professionals and helping them build fulfilling, highly profitable businesses. She is the founder and CEO of The Center for Yoga Psychology – an innovative, scientifically grounded training center for yoga teachers, mental health clinicians, and students fusing yoga, mindfulness, trauma resolution, shadow work, and neuroscience. Here's a taste of what we get into in this episode… - Ashley's 4-step model for doing shadow work in relationships & deal with your projections - What is the chakra system, and what can it tell you about where your store emotions? - How emotional traumas show up as behaviors and patterns and modalities to heal them - What is shadow work, and how to do it with the relationships in your life - The way your inner state of well-being shapes what you experience in the world If you loved this episode, make sure you check out… - Learn more at www.Yoga-Psychology.co or follow Ashley on Instagram at @AshleyTurner1 - Embracing the Duality of our Emotions and Normalizing Emotional Health - Understanding Love & Conflict Resolution With Your Partner with Annie Lalla - Being in Alignment With Yourself with Aaron Alexander - How To Move, Connect, Play, and Cultivate Trust With Acroyoga with Jason Nemer Don't forget to take my super fun and quick Bounce Factor quiz to determine your audacious resiliency during tough and intense life moments at bouncefactorquiz.com. It is simple to embrace traditional ways of eating when there are no food groups that are off-limits to you. In this episode, I had a conversation with Tumboura Hill, my friend, and former colleague, about his journey in, through, and out of workplace burnout. If you have the slightest suspicion that you are experiencing workplace burnout, this episode is for you. I then found an article titled "The World Health Organization officially recognizes workplace 'burnout' as an occupational phenomenon, " published in May 2019, written by Ashley Turner. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/28/who-recognizes-workplace-burnout-as-an-occupational-phenomenon.html The WHO (World Health Organization) says it is a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. I cheered this article because I felt that though workplace burnout has long existed, it is rarely talked about and in 2019, it is finally included in the latest revision of the International Classification of Diseases. My feelings quickly turned into sadness and anger because it is indeed a problem that is rarely talked about and often dismissed or minimized either by the person experiencing it or the workplace that refuses to acknowledge it. The consequences and impact are alarming, as you will hear in this episode with Tumboura. May this episode help you stop and assess where you are and bring you hope that there is light at the end of the burnout tunnel. Here for you, Grace

From Policing to TV Documentaries In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of catching up with an old colleague of mine, Ashley Turner. Alongside being a cop, Ash is actually a staggeringly talented professional close up magician. He was mid service, when, for a number of reasons, he decided to take a career break but after a year, got told that he had to come back or resign. Ash returned to the job but realised that it was no longer a good fit and applied for a role with Channel 4 Despatches, not for one moment, thinking he'd be successful. Ash talks us through the selection process, the moment he found out he'd been successful and the incredible programmes he's both produced and featured in since. He also explains why the TV industry could actually be a really good fit for some former cops, if you have certain personal attributes! It was so good catching up with him and you'll get an idea of the quality of this episode from the intro alone. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 95. If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that health and wellness is much more than our physical output. Our bodies, minds, and spirits work together inside of us to build a whole, complete person. When one pillar of wellness suffers, everything suffers. So how do we take care of ourselves in a whole-hearted way when we already have way too much on our to-do list? That’s what I’m talking about today with Ashley Turner, a mind body psychotherapist, power yoga expert, and marriage and family therapist. Episode 95 Topics: What are chakras and why do they matter? How to be kind to our bodies to heal our minds and spirits Why movement and breath is essential in lowering stress levels How three deep breaths can change your day and heal your body Episode 95 Product Picks: BeeKeeper’s Naturals In October 2019, I decided to write the entire first draft of my book in like... five days. It was intense. I knew I needed to be laser focused for those four days, so you better believe I loaded up on my Beekeeper’s Naturals goodies every day that week! I took the B. Powered superfood honey to improve my focus and keep me alert. I also took a BLIXR vial each morning to clear out that brain fog. Truthfully, three years ago I never could have written this book in four days. I didn’t have the mental clarity or the energy to do it. But my Beekeeper’s honey keeps me fueled and fog-free, and I can definitely notice a difference on the days I forget to take it. If you want to try out some of my favorite Beekeeper’s Naturals products, and get 15% off, go to zimmermanpodcast.com/bee Sleeping with a Stranger Sleeping with a Stranger is officially available everywhere books are sold in hardcover, paperback, ebook, and audiobook. Since the book’s launch, I’ve been amazed by how it has been received. From being named a best seller by USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Amazon and Barnes & Noble to incredibly personal and touching reviews from my amazing readers, it’s been such a wild journey! Here’s one of my favorite reviews… “I love the honesty of this book. It is real and raw and doesn't hold back; and that is why it is so mesmerizing. I could relate on so many levels and I know it must've been so hard to write about many of these very personal and taboo topics. I couldn't put the book down, it was such an easy and enlightening read. I highly recommend this to anyone who is soul searching or just looking for some perspective. Truth is better than fiction!” I can’t wait to share this story with you! To get your copy, go to jessicazimmerman.com today or wherever books are sold.

Do you find yourself racing to the pantry when you're feeling down or otherwise upset? Finding comfort in food is common. Today, Jess and Cody have invited a special guest, Ashley Turner, who is an emotional eating and cravings expert, to join them on this episode. They discuss the difference between "emotional eating" versus "cravings". They talk all about how to figure out what we are actually "hungry" for. Because, what we might be hungry for isn't always the kind of food that can be served on a plate. Ashley talks about "soul food" and "body food" and how to figure out where you might be deficient, and how to get to the root cause of your hunger. Food may help ease emotions initially, but addressing the feelings behind hunger is very important in the long term. Listen in to learn alternative ways to deal with emotions, and for tips on how to better get in touch with yourself and your feelings.Did you learn something new today? Please let us know! She's also been nominated for an Emmy and is a good friend. Video coach and expert, Tracy Phillips. During this conversation, we talk about how to really get more visible in your business and use video to connect with your audience. On this episode of the podcast, hear her story of God's grace as she found her calling, not on the national stage, but in the ordinary aspects of ministry leading worship in her local church, loving her husband, raising her kids, and trying to make an impact in her own community. I’m so excited to share my conversation with Dr. Ashley Turner because we are digging into how stewardship and healthy living go hand in hand. Dr. Ashley started out as an elementary education teacher, but quickly found a passion in natural health and functional medicine as her family endured trial after trial in their health. She shares their journey, discovering their daughters suffered from PANDAS and PANS syndromes, and how their decision for stewardship of their body and home has brought healing.
In this episode, we talk with Dr. Ashely Turner, who is a Board Certified Doctor of Holistic Health (BCDHH) and traditionally-trained naturopath. She is an author, homesteader, and homeschooling mother of three sweet daughters. We talk about how chronic illness affected Dr. Ashely’s family and how this ultimately led her and her husband to study functional medicine. She speaks about the work in her book discussing restorative diet techniques and how food is a major form of medicine. We tackle the hard conversation about our societal pressure around diet culture and the work it takes to self publish a book. ✼ To learn more about Dr. Ashely and her work: https://www.drashleyturner.com/ ✼ To follow Dr. Ashely on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dr.ashleyturner/ ✼ To purchase Dr. Ashley's books and resources: https://www.drashleyturner.com/shop-online ✼ To learn more about the Restorative Wellness Center or book an appointment: https://www.restorativechiro.com/our-doctors ✼ To Follow Dr. Ashley on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/restorativewellnesscenters/ ✼ You can find our host’s Instagrams: Laura https://www.instagram.com/lauramdifrancesco/ Lindsay https://www.instagram.com/sweetgreensoul/ Casey https://www.instagram.com/caseyflu/ ✼ To Follow Flourish on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/flourishwestchester/ ✼ To visit our Flourish Coworking Space Website and sign up for a free day pass and come Co-work with us! https://www.flourishcoworking.com/ ✼ To join our online Flourish Community - we would LOVE to have you: https://flourishcommunity.slack.com/join/shared_invite/zt-cmb42u4x-zoUtTKxta7aQG_WwOhTlOQ ✼ To connect with Dean Street Law on Instagram for daily posted legal advice: https://www.instagram.com/deanstreetlaw/ ✼ For free legal guides and resources: https://deanstreetlaw.com/resources ✼ To join our Flourish x LMD Bookclub: https://mailchi.mp/flourishcoworking.com/joinflourishbookclub ✼ GIVEAWAY ✼ To participate in our giveaway subscribe and rate the podcast and leave a review or comment on what you liked about the episode! This is a call about discovering your purpose by healing past wounds. Today’s caller, Mark, is feeling confused about his purpose after his divorce. He is struggling with his identity as he obsesses about his ex. After discussing his childhood, his wounding may have come from a family member long before he got married. Moving forward is clearer when you clean up the past. [For show notes go here: Christinehassler.com/episode244] There are so many ways we can be disconnected from our purpose. One of the main ways we become disconnected is when we play the role of peacekeeper. Our unconscious mind starts to become more concerned with being a peacekeeper than fulfilling our soul’s destiny. We believe that being a peacekeeper keeps us safe and gets us validation. But being a peacekeeper or being what other people want us to be, drains a lot of our energy. And, it’s important when finding our purpose that we deal with our anger, resentment, sadness, and shame because often our purpose is underneath those things. Once we see through the unconscious programming, we understand better who we really are. When you clean up the past, the future becomes clear. And in the clarity, you know what your next steps are. You know what to do about your job or relationships because old wounding and unconscious programming are no longer blinding you from seeing your path. All human beings have both feminine and masculine energies they need to nurture. Our masculine energy thrives on the muse-like energy that is feminine. Feminine energy is inspiring, evocative, innovative, encouraging, and temptress. We are in an unprecedented time of uncertainty and worry and overwhelm are running rampant. Do you have the tools to rise to your full strength, wisdom, and power? Please join me on May 13–16 for the Resilience Summit hosted by Ashley Turner. There are 24 interviews, including mine, about the science, spirituality, and psychology of resilience and best practices to build your inner strength. Visit ChristineHassler.com/ResilienceSummit. Join Stefanos and me twice per week, as we guide you through breathwork to release stress and fear, meditation to shift your state, and then answer your questions to support you. Visit ChristineHassler.com/freecall. Consider/Ask Yourself: Do you ever feel depressed, frustrated, or lack motivation? Do you question what your purpose is and often feel like you’re destined to do great things but you just don’t know what they are? Growing up, did you feel you had a good balance of masculine and feminine behavior modeled to you? Do you have an ex or any person in your life that is not in your life anymore that you just keep obsessing about or can’t quite seem to let them go? Mark’s Question: Mark recently got divorced but is still obsessing about his ex and would like guidance on how to move forward and find purpose in his life. Mark’s Key Insights and Ahas: He is critical of himself. He says he is depressed. He is searching for his purpose. He married his ‘mom.’ He has never felt accepted by the women in his life. He considers his mother and ex strong women. His mother emasculated him when he was younger. He spent his life trying to please and appease the feminine. His father is his best friend. He feels he was destined to lead. He had to be the peacekeeper in his family. He is afraid of his anger. He craves love and acceptance. He wants permission to be himself. How to Get Over It and On With It: He needs to find a healthy release for his anger and resentment. He needs to find a healthy model of feminine energy. He needs to write letters to his ex and his mother he doesn’t intend to send. He needs to tap into his feminine energy and find the muse inside himself. He has to stop making getting a woman’s approval his purpose. He should read Expectation Hangover and join my Personal Mastery course. Takeaways: Journal about what your parents modeled for you around masculine and feminine energy. Are there any F-U letters you need to write to release some anger?
