We're in such a confusing and uncertain time as the coronavirus pandemic impacts all of us in some way. I'm doing my best to find peace in the middle of this storm, and I hope this will help you embrace joy and find hope, too.
Therapy is normal, needed and it changed the course my life. It took an abrupt encounter with anxiety and a panic attack while I was live on the air -- a moment I thought would end my career in television -- for me to embrace the healing and peace that comes with counseling. Therapy revealed anxiety was the source of my past toxic relationship with food. That revelation led me to healthier coping mechanisms to overcome anxiety, resulting in my 100-pound weight loss journey. Join me on this episode of Decide to Live® as my therapist, Dr. Robin Nottingham, shares life-changing advice on how to thrive in the face of anxiety, addiction and depression. The first episode features fellow morning news anchor, postpartum depression survivor – and my best friend – Ariane Aramburo to share her journey. Get the tissues ready! We prayed about the best time to share it with all of you. Now, almost exactly a year later, I’m excited to reveal a show that has the power to change – and save – lives. One day at a time. One moment at a time. We can all decide to live! *This is an independent production of Live to Win, LLC. All rights reserved. Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach is one of my favorite places on Earth. A 60-foot-high mountain made from an old trash dump is a treasure to me. That big, beautiful mountain, surrounded by lakes, playgrounds, skate parks and a winding walking trail, is a source of joy for people far and wide. All at a place built on a pile of trash… Items that were discarded, devalued, and done away with, were used as the foundation for a place that now inspires magical moments. And that’s just it... Mount Trashmore reminds me that we can take the piles of pain, regret and sorrow in your past… The ugly stuff we’d rather throw away… and use it all as the foundation for something beautiful…inspiring… magical. Our trash can become treasure when we change our perspective.
Our failures are just lessons in disguise if we allow them to guide and teach us. In this episode of the Decide to Live Podcast, I'm sharing how the valleys of a wellness journey are just as valuable as the peaks. Always remember, you were created to be a champion, so let every experience work in your favor! #decidetolive
At my heaviest weight – nearly 270 pounds – it literally pained me to workout. The weight created so much pressure on my back, I found myself crying during exercise. The steps that move you forward, and the steps that slip into quicksand, have the same value. Stumbles, falls and failures are not setbacks. They are steps towards success if you can be patient enough to learn and lean forward. Join me on this episode of the Decide to Live Podcast as we fail our way to success!
"And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance." The lyrics from that Lee Ann Womack song reminded me of a very important lesson I learned along this weight loss journey. No regrets from my past, but a lesson learned nonetheless. I hope this helps someone, too!
It's hard to see the big picture when you're in the middle of a health and fitness battle. You bust your butt and wonder where in the world is the progress?!? A pair of black and red weightlifting gloves has been with me since I started this health journey five years ago. Now, they've taught me a new lesson along this journey: the power of letting go of the past. Join me on this journey and #DecidetoLive!

Learn more about his journey on Facebook at "Hope for Dante". #DecideToLive
When you think of praise and worship, you probably think of Sunday morning in church. Through my health and fitness journey, I’ve learned working out is worship, too! Sometimes, we think it's all or nothing on this journey. We can think "if I don't have a six pack, I'm a failure," or "if I can't run a marathon, I'm not fit enough." In this latest episode of the Decide to Live Podcast, I'm sharing how some belly fat helped bring it all into perspective. May this bring you some joy and inspiration along your journey!
We can spend our entire lives chasing J. Lo, or Beyoncé, or that Instagram model. What happens when difficulty and frustration set in on your fitness journey? What will keep you going when you realize your best and healthiest body doesn’t come with a J. Lo booty? Does that mean you failed? On this episode, we're getting real about body image, self love and fitness goals that have more to do with health and less to do with an image. Join obesity survivor Ehi L. Adams and me for an honest conversation. It may just change the way you look at yourself for the better.
When we think about losing weight and getting healthier, we search for special formulas and equations to get the weight off. However, I've learned forgiveness is the real key to making real and lasting progress. I hope this episode inspires you to be kind to yourself along this journey!
Every year on Father's Day, I'm reminded of the lessons I learned from my Dad's life and his untimely passing. I recorded this a few years ago, but the heart of the message will ring true forever. I love you, Daddy. Thanks for cheering me on from Heaven.

I used to binge on that golden fried goodness, but God stepped in and helped me realize I didn't have to bury my feelings in a bucket of chicken.
An internal struggle in the buffet line taught me a big lesson.

Apparently, it isn’t enough that the incredibly talented entertainer performed ON THE ROOF of a football stadium. Or that she flew through the air. What mattered most, to some, was her bare belly that, to some, didn’t meet some made-up standard of what a bare belly should look like. Seriously, are we really so fixated on “perfection” that we pick and prod at another person’s body and call them fat? Or ugly? Or anything else that doesn’t encourage and lift them up? Yes, we are, because we do it to ourselves all the time. I am no exception.
