In this week's episode, I chat with Maiya Winston, coach, consultant and mentor. Maiya helps people develop personal and professional strategic plans, as well as find their own voice as they represent their personal brand. She started her own brand and movement called Be A Possibility and she provides a weekly motivational Facebook show that she host every Monday called Monday Moments with Maiya. Maiya is a Mom to a High Schooler and gets to spend her days showing people how to merge the causes they are passionate about with their professional development. With over 15 years of corporate experience, Maiya has seen firsthand the difference that working with PURPOSE and PASSION can make. When not working, mentoring or coaching, she also enjoys volunteering with various non-profit organizations in the DFW Metroplex. Maiya believes that there is always time to give back to your community. In this episode, Maiya and I talk about the pressures and false realities that come with social media, the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur, and the struggles of being known as the "Strong Friend" and how lonely that can be at times. Maiya also chats with me about what it means to "Be A Possibility" and what inspired her to start her entrepreneurial pursuits. Tune in and join the chat with us. Episode 4: Taking Time To Get Grounded and Aligned

I took a small break because I needed to get grounded in this new "normal" we are experiencing and I needed to take a moment to clear my head from the distractions. If you're like me, then you've been tapping into social media a little bit more than you used to and if I'm being honest, it became a huge distraction for me. We live during a time where we have a tendency to compare our lives to the curated content that we see floating on social media and we play the comparative analysis game. I needed a break for it and I needed to take some time to get back to me and the things that I want for my life and my LEGACY. I recorded this episode around 1:00am because that's when I do my best work, so I hope you enjoy this raw, vulnerable side of me and continue to rock with me as I work on just putting good energy out into this world. I'd love to hear from you and know how you're doing during this time as well. Feel free to be RAW and VULNERABLE, this is a NO-JUDGMENT ZONE!. Shoot me an e-mail at shavon@shavondotson.com, let me know if you're okay or if you're having a hard time adjusting. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Join me for episode 3 of Makeup & Mindset where I sit down with Tiffany Johnson, a 10 year breast cancer survivor. She is the middle child of her loving parents Aubrey and Wardean.  The mother of two wonderful daughters, Gabrielle and Giselle. As well as wife to Benard.  Back in 2009, at the tender age of 29, her life changed forever.  Tiffany was diagnosed with invasive stage 2B breast cancer, despite no previous family history of breast cancer.  She underwent a double mastectomy, six rounds chemotherapy as well as several treatments of radiation.  Her family and a determination to win the fight helped her to push forward.  Upon completing treatment, Tiffany decided to become an advocate for breast cancer as volunteer educator for Kohl’s Conversations for the Cure.  Despite her tumultuous journey Tiffany remains determined to fight, faithful in God, and hopeful that one day a cure will be found. When she is not working, Tiffany loves to read, travel and spend time with her family. On this episode we are talking about the mindset Tiffany needed to tap into in order to beat breast cancer. She takes us on her journey from diagnosis to survivor and the highs and lows of that emotional ride. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
