What does visibility look like when it is rooted in authenticity rather than performance? In Episode 262 of Just Start: Get Visible, Jacqueline M. Baker welcomes Kaylan Martin for a thoughtful conversation about aligned visibility, the practice of showing up in ways that reflect who you are rather than who others expect you to be. Throughout the episode, Kaylan shares how years of pursuing traditional markers of success eventually led to a realization that true fulfillment comes from alignment. After experiencing a season of personal and professional misalignment, Kaylan made a deliberate decision to prioritize joy, redefine success, and build a life centered on authenticity. The conversation also explores the evolution of Blue Umbrella Strategies, a firm dedicated to helping community-led organizations access the resources they need while preserving the integrity of their mission and values. Listeners will gain practical insights into: Defining visibility on your own terms Distinguishing between visibility and performative exposure Prioritizing joy as a decision-making framework Building sustainable habits that support personal growth Finding and cultivating meaningful community Creating space for self-discovery through new experiences Understanding the difference between moving with power versus force One of the most powerful themes throughout the conversation is the reminder that visibility is not about becoming someone else. It is about becoming more fully yourself. If you've ever felt pressure to be more visible in ways that don't feel natural, this episode offers a refreshing and empowering alternative. Memorable Takeaway "Visibility doesn't have to be forced. When it is aligned with who you are, it becomes sustainable, powerful, and deeply authentic." About Kaylan Martin Kaylan Martin is the founder of Blue Umbrella Strategies, an organization focused on helping changemakers and community-centered organizations access resources, strengthen capacity, and increase impact while remaining aligned with their values and mission.
This one opened my heart wide open, and I cried with a friend straight after recording it. Chelsea Horton is a somatic coach, educator, and founder of Healing Embodied, where she trains wellness professionals to integrate somatics, creativity, and emotional healing into their work. A former worship leader with a master's in Dance and Movement Therapy, Chelsea went from the most devoted Christian you'd ever meet, engaged to her gay best friend for Jesus, to building a life and practice rooted entirely in embodied truth. Today, we're focusing on navigating the pressure of running a business while staying connected to your bigger vision for your life and business. Stay tuned as Eric shares a simple five-step exercise to help you gain clarity, direction, and long-term alignment. The Sandwich Generation Many business owners are part of the "sandwich generation," taking care of parents while also raising children. That pressure adds to the demands of running a business, whether you're leading a large team or working as a solopreneur. A Long-Term Vision When pressure is high, it helps to reconnect with why you started the business in the first place. Most people fail to clearly define what they want their life or business to look like in the next 10 years. Identify the Different Areas of Your Life The first step is identifying up to seven areas of your life, including health, family and friends, fun, finances, work, personal development, and volunteering or charities. Rate Each Area Rate each area from 1 to 10, with 1 being the worst and 10 your ideal, to create a clear picture of where your life currently feels aligned and where you need to improve it. Define your Actions Define two or three actions for each area that will move the needle in the right direction for you. Small actions and little wins create momentum. Questions and Answers Make a list of questions about your life 10 years from now, including where you live, your health, your accomplishments, what clients are saying, and your personal wealth. Eric's advice is to take your time answering those questions and sleep on them instead of rushing through the process. Write the Script of Your Future Life Describe a specific day in your life 10 years from now. The goal is to create a two- or three-page story that feels exciting and aligned. Revisit the Vision During Difficult Moments Review the document once or twice a year, especially during moments of pressure, doubt, difficult client situations, or imposter syndrome. Burnout doesn't always look the way we expect. Sometimes it looks like loving your job… but slowly losing yourself in it. Sometimes it looks like saying “I'm fine”… while quietly falling apart. And sometimes it shows up in your body before you even recognise it in your mind. In this episode, I'm joined by Carolon Donnally, Burnout Prevention Strategist and former Head of Leadership Coaching at the IRS, who shares both her personal journey with burnout and the leadership patterns that often lead women there. Together, we explore how burnout develops over time, why high-capacity leaders are often the most at risk, and what it looks like to build a leadership life that is sustainable, healthy, and aligned with God. In This Episode We talk about: • the early warning signs of burnout (including physical symptoms many leaders ignore) • how burnout can progress into emotional and even clinical exhaustion if left unaddressed • why high-achieving, responsible leaders are often the most vulnerable to burnout • the hidden patterns that create burnout — including people-pleasing and over-responsibility • how work can subtly become an identity or even an idol • why saying “I'm fine” can mask deeper struggles • the importance of recognising emotional and physical signals early • how leaders can better support their teams and identify burnout risks • why burnout is not just an individual issue — but also an organisational one • the powerful question every leader should ask: “At what cost is this getting done?” A Key Leadership Shift - Burnout isn't always a sign you're doing something wrong — but it is a signal that something needs to change. Sustainable leadership requires: • boundaries • self-awareness • identity rooted in Christ • and the wisdom to pause when needed About Carolon Donnally Carolon Donnally is a Burnout Prevention Strategist and speaker who equips women of faith and leadership to break free from the cycle of overwork and exhaustion. As a former federal leader and Head of Leadership Coaching at the IRS, she brings over two decades of experience in leadership, coaching, and organisational development. Her work uniquely combines personal experience, research-backed strategies, and a deep understanding of workplace systems. Carolon helps both individuals and organisations address burnout at its root — empowering leaders to build cultures that support wellbeing, sustainability, and long-term impact. Her mission is to help high-achieving women rediscover their worth, reclaim their energy, and lead with clarity and compassion — without sacrificing their faith or their well-being.
In this episode, Stephanie Carter, wellness coach and founder of Aligned and Ageless, joins us to talk about navigating health, fitness, and vitality for women over 40. At 57, Stephanie shares her personal transition through menopause, opening up about the frustrating moment she realized that the diet and exercise routines that worked in her 30s were no longer serving her. She breaks down the common pitfalls women face—either paralyzing overwhelm from social media "wellness noise" or the trap of trying to implement too many unsustainable habits at once. Stephanie introduces her signature framework built on five pillars of wellness: quality sleep, daily movement, whole-foods nutrition, stress management, and deep relationships. Emphasizing progress over perfection, she details how small, personalized shifts compound over time to create a sustainable lifestyle, offering women a practical guide to practicing self-awareness, setting boundaries, and showing themselves grace in every season of life. When your Clinical Documentation Ends up In Court: What Healthcare Providers Need to Know with Dr. Pankti FadiaIn Part 2 of our conversation with Dr. Pankti Fadia, DC, MBA, we continue exploring what happens when clinical care intersects with the legal system. After discussing personal injury documentation and causation in Part 1, this episode moves deeper into subpoenas, affidavits, depositions, trial testimony, expert witness credibility, and ethical considerations for chiropractors and healthcare providers working in the personal injury space.Dr. Fadia explains what providers should know when records are requested, how to approach deposition or courtroom testimony, and why confidence, preparation, and clear communication matter when your clinical decisions are being questioned. This episode also highlights an important reminder: your role is not to defend the patient's entire legal case. Your role is to explain your care, support your documentation, stay within your scope, and communicate your clinical reasoning clearly.Key Themes in Today's Episode:What to know when you receive a subpoena or records requestThe difference between written questions, depositions, and trial testimonyHow to prepare before giving testimonyWhy providers should answer only what is askedThe importance of staying within your clinical scopeHow defense attorneys may challenge credibilityDisclaimer: This episode is for educational purposes only and should not be interpreted as legal advice.
In this episode of the The Grad School Femtoring Podcast, I talk with Dr. Leslie Wang about writing authentically, values misalignment in academia, and choosing a career path that feels aligned with your long-term wellbeing. This episode is for anyone who feels exhausted by the pressure to constantly perform, produce, and prove themselves while questioning whether their current path still reflects who they are and how they want to live. We explore how academia, like many professional spaces, can shape people into prioritizing external validation over internal alignment, and how signs like dread, resentment, perfectionism, burnout, and comparison often point toward deeper values misalignment. Dr. Wang shares how she transitioned from a tenured professor to a coach supporting scholars with writing, publishing, and career decisions rooted in values-alignment. We also discuss how graduate students can approach career exploration more intentionally, how to identify your internal compass, and how to write for real readers instead of only writing for gatekeepers. In this episode, you will learn: How to identify early signs of values misalignment in academia Why external achievement alone often does not create long-term fulfillment How core values can guide career decisions and sustainable work practices Ways to approach writing more authentically while maintaining scholarly rigor How to identify an ideal reader beyond your dissertation committee or reviewers Why graduate students benefit from considering multiple career paths instead of defaulting to the tenure track Work with me If your institution, organization, or team is looking for workshops on sustainable productivity, executive functioning, leadership development, or culturally responsive student support, learn more here: https://gradschoolfemtoring.com/speaking/ Learn more about my coaching services for graduate students and professionals: https://gradschoolfemtoring.com/coaching/ Connect with Dr. Leslie Wang Your Words Unleashed: https://yourwordsunleashed.com Dr. Wang on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/leslie-k-wang-phd-a813227/ Free resource Download your Grad School Femtoring Resource Kit: https://gradschoolfemtoring.com/kit/ Explore more Listen to more episodes on Personal Development and Mindset: https://gradschoolfemtoring.com/podcast_catergory/personal-development-and-mindset/ Support the podcast with a one-time or monthly donation: https://donate.stripe.com/bJedR8dGRcs6ewGdwq38401 Access transcripts and additional resources: https://gradschoolfemtoring.com/podcast/ Audio and transcript edited by Yessi Sanchez: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yessisanchez/ This podcast is a proud member of the Genuina Media network. What if the very thing driving your success is quietly breaking you? Brooke Taylor, Enneagram Three, career coach, and author of Healing the Success Wound, joins me for a searingly honest conversation about achievement, identity, and spiritual hunger.. Brooke grew up in Silicon Valley where worth was measured in gold stars, landed at Google by her early twenties, and found herself drowning in a success she couldn't feel. We talk about the success wound which, as Brooke describes it, is the pain that comes from mistaking productivity and achievement for self-worth — the deeply installed belief that the more you produce and achieve, the more worthy of love and belonging you become. This wound isn't just for Enneagram Threes. It's a human condition — and it shows up differently depending on your type, your culture, your family system, and what "success" looks like in your particular world. We talk through Brooke's five types of unfulfilled achievers — the grinder, the hider, the seeker, the work-hard-play-hard, and the pleaser — and I couldn't help mapping those to the Enneagram types in real time. We also get into the distinction between the true self, the wounded self, and the socialized (or protector) self — a framework rooted in Internal Family Systems and gestalt psychology that I think will resonate deeply with longtime Typology listeners. Whether you're a Three or you love one, this episode is for you. Guest Bio: Brooke Taylor is a certified career coach, speaker, and the author of Healing the Success Wound. A self-identified Enneagram Three, Brooke built her coaching practice specifically for women navigating the intersection of ambition, identity, and fulfillment — though her framework applies broadly across genders. Her research includes a survey of more than 5,000 high-achieving professionals who identified as unfulfilled, which forms the empirical backbone of her five-type model of the unfulfilled achiever. A veteran of Google and a long-term member of recovery communities, Brooke brings both lived experience and rigorous research to her work. She is the founder of the Lined Ambition framework and writes and coaches at the crossroads of psychology, spirituality, and career development. Learn more at brooketaylor.co. Send us Fan Mailhttps://www.lfenergetics.com/A lot of people can talk about “healing.” Fewer can describe what it feels like to live years in survival mode and then climb out, one choice at a time. I'm joined by Rebecca Stephens, founder of Life Force Energetics, who shares the lived experience behind her work: a childhood across cultures, the unimaginable loss of her young daughter to cancer, and the long stretch afterward where therapy, medication, and coping strategies still didn't restore peace in her body. Her honesty lands hard, and it opens the door to real hope. From there, we get practical. Rebecca explains how she moved from aromatherapy and brain curiosity into energy medicine, eventually creating her own hands-on approach called quantum neuro-repatterning. We break down what she means by the quantum field in plain English: a space of information and infinite possibilities that becomes more available when we quiet the mind, soften the body, and stop fixating on one narrow story. We also talk trauma in a way that's useful, not dramatic: trauma can be big or small, but what matters is how much it disrupts the nervous system and gets stored as a pattern. We go deeper into why people “bungee cord” back to old stress loops, why calm can feel unsafe when chaos has been your normal, and how lasting change often requires alignment across body, mind, energy, and soul. Rebecca even shares a simple, listener-friendly technique you can try at night to settle your system and invite insight. This is the 6th part of the Pruning Season Series This episode is powered by The Ascension Archetype Quiz. “Pruning was never the point. The fruit is.” — Dr. Darnyelle Jervey Harmon Everyone talks about what you lose in a pruning season. The clients. The revenue. The identity. The certainty. But almost no one prepares you for what happens next. Because the truth is, the most important part of pruning is not what you release. It's what starts growing that you cannot see yet. And if you've been questioning whether the cut was worth it, if you've been sitting in the silence wondering if you made a mistake, this episode is going to shift everything for you. Because you're not behind. You're not off track. You're in the exact moment where what you've been praying for is finally taking root. If you are a six- or seven-figure CEO coming out of a season of release, recalibration, or reinvention and you are wondering if it was worth it, this episode will give you your answer. In part six of the Pruning Season series, Dr. Darnyelle reveals what actually grows after the cut and why the gap between release and renewal is where everything begins. We explore business reinvention, CEO identity evolution, aligned revenue, leadership capacity, nervous system regulation, and how to recognize the fruit that is already forming in your life and business. Here's the truth: the fruit does not show up immediately after the cut. There is always a gap. And in that gap, nothing looks like it's working, but everything is moving. You'll walk away with a clear understanding of the five types of fruit that grow after pruning, how to recognize them in real time, and how to protect what is emerging so you don't sabotage your next level before it fully forms. Grab your Move to Millions Podcast Notebook, a pen and your favorite beverage and listen in to discover: ✔ How to recognize the signs that your pruning season is producing results ✔ How to identify aligned opportunities, clients, and revenue after release ✔ How to protect new growth without rushing or forcing it ✔And so much more This episode is a call to shift your focus from what you lost to what is growing. It challenges you to stop measuring your progress by what's visible and start trusting what is being built beneath the surface.. This is your invitation to stop second-guessing the decisions you made in your pruning season and start recognizing the evidence that something new is already taking shape. To trust the process even when it doesn't look like progress yet. In today's episode, I'm speaking with Makenzie Darling, a Movement Architect who has spent more than a decade weaving together social impact, community development, spiritual awakening, and strategy that actually moves people. She has worked with NGOs and pioneering startups, helping small organizations grow into thriving movements with millions of followers and global reach. And she brings something deeper than strategy to the table. Through her work as an Entheogenic Minister, and her travels with Indigenous healers around the world, Makenzie has learned how to listen to the old wisdom. The kind of wisdom our bodies remember. The kind of wisdom that asks us to stop extracting, stop controlling, and begin leading from a place of devotion. In a world that feels fast, polarized, exhausted, and hungry for something real, this conversation is a powerful reminder. Makenzie and I dish on: • Bringing ancient wisdom and modern strategy into your business • The difference between lineage and leadership • Why releasing control can open the door to a bigger movement • Movement building, and why it begins with identifying your assignment • How plant medicine can support ancestral excavation and healing • Karmic assignments, and why they may be part of the reason we are here This episode is an invitation to look at your work through a bigger lens. This week's "At Her Career Crossroads" insight comes from myself, Dr. Robin. "Sometimes an aligned decision feels deeply right and deeply costly at the same time. True and vulnerable at the same time. Relieving and stretching at the same time." If you've been sitting in the tension between what looks good on paper and what actually feels true to you, this episode will help you think about career decisions differently. I'm exploring why so many high-achieving women still make choices from pressure, fear, urgency, or external expectations — even after doing the inner work to understand themselves more deeply. And I share what it really means to make a purpose-aligned decision and why the most aligned path is not always the easiest one. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: If you've been overthinking a career decision, this episode will help you separate fear from truth so you can stop making choices based only on what feels safest or most explainable. You'll hear a practical framework for making decisions that reflect who you are now — not just the version of yourself shaped by old expectations, conditioning, or external pressure. This conversation will help you recognize the difference between a difficult decision that stretches you and a misaligned decision that slowly wears you down over time. I'm Dr. Robin, leadership expert, executive coach, and creator of the PurposeMAKER™ framework. Through Leadership Purpose with Dr. Robin, I help high-achieving women close the gap between external success and true fulfillment by making more purpose-aligned decisions in their careers, leadership, and lives. If you've ever felt completely out of control in a relationship — knowing it's wrong, unable to leave, ashamed of yourself for staying — this conversation is going to make you feel far less alone. Marina sits down with Andrea Ashley, host of Adult Child and The Shitshow podcast, who grew up in an alcoholic home, spent her teens in and out of rehabs, got sober at 19, and still found herself at rock bottom at 28 — trapped in trauma bonds she didn't yet have words for. Andrea shares the story she's never fully told before: the relationship that pulled her back in at her most under-resourced, the friendship betrayal that happened at the worst possible moment, and what it actually took to finally get out. When your Clinical Documentation Ends up In Court: What Healthcare Providers Need to Know with Dr. Pankti FadiaIn this episode of the FAKTR Podcast, we kick off a two-part conversation with Dr. Pankti Fadia, DC, MBA, a practicing chiropractor with extensive personal injury experience and a soon-to-be law school graduate.Dr. Fadia breaks down what chiropractors need to understand when clinical care intersects with the legal system — especially when patient records, treatment decisions, and documentation may become part of a personal injury case.In Part 1, we discuss the personal injury case timeline, the difference between clinical and legal causation, why documentation plays such a critical role in credibility, and the common charting mistakes that can weaken a provider's position in litigation. You'll learn why your notes are more than clinical records — they may become part of the legal story.Key Themes in Today's Episode:How personal injury cases move from treatment to litigationWhy documentation matters before a case ever reaches courtThe difference between clinical causation and legal causationHow to document mechanism of injury, symptom onset, and functional limitationsWhy “reasonable medical probability” mattersCommon documentation mistakes healthcare providers should avoidDisclaimer: This episode is for educational purposes only and should not be interpreted as legal advice.

If you've ever sat in the limbo of "do I keep going with this or change everything," agonized over a choice for weeks, or made a snap decision that somehow turned out to be the right one, this one is for you. Decision-making is having a moment. Between AI making half our smaller choices for us, the wellness world telling us to follow our gut, and the productivity world telling us to optimize everything, we are getting a lot of mixed signals about how to actually choose. So we got into how we both make decisions (badly, sometimes), what we wish we did differently, and the kinds of choices that only feel right in hindsight. We also caught up on life. Nina's Orlando move is officially in motion (apartment applied for, very much happening), and Coley is in the early, slightly chaotic stages of wedding planning. In this episode, we cover: Life updates: Nina's Florida move and Coley's wedding planning era. Why making a big decision from a depleted place is rarely the move, and the case for waiting until you feel neutral or better. Human design, sacral responses, and the case for listening to the part of you that already knows. How AI is slowly eroding our ability to make small decisions, and why treating it like an assistant (not your second brain) matters. What to do when you've already made the wrong call, and the supernova theory that takes the pressure off. What happens when the edge you used to have starts to feel dull? Not gone. Just not as sharp. You're still successful. Still respected. Still producing. But life feels comfortable. In this episode of Coming Up Clutch with J.R.™, J.R. sits down with UMBO co-founder and former NFL quarterback, Jake Plummer, for a powerful conversation about alignment, curiosity, performance, and what it really means to pivot. Jake walked away from the NFL while he could still play. Not because he quit. But because he was aligned. This episode challenges the common narrative around pivoting, success, and longevity, and reframes curiosity as a competitive advantage for elite performers. In this episode, you'll hear: Why pivoting isn't quitting and how to change your perspective without abandoning your core beliefs The internal signals Jake listened to before walking away from the NFL while he could still play How curiosity becomes a competitive advantage in both performance and life What functional mushrooms can do for inflammation, sleep, recovery, and nervous system regulation The simple 5–15 minute reset that can change how you show up at home Why performance without regulation erodes the very people you're performing for KEY QUOTES "Be curious about things…never just settle and be content…stay curious to find ways to get through tough times…consistency over time equals results." - Jake Plummer "When you're dead and gone, your kids aren't going to say, 'Man, my dad. Send us Fan MailIf you've been told you have a hormone imbalance (or you've suspected it yourself), this episode is going to completely change the way you think about what's happening in your body. Most women dealing with symptoms like PMS, heavy periods, painful periods, fatigue, bloating, mood swings, or irregular cycles have done the research. They've landed on terms like estrogen dominance or low progesterone. They may have even started supplements, tried seed cycling, or cleaned up their diet. And yet they still don't feel better. Here's what most people miss: your hormones are rarely the cause of your symptoms. They're the result. In this episode, we're going deeper, into the four body systems that are most likely driving your hormone imbalance, and why addressing these root causes is the key to finally feeling like yourself again. In this episode, we cover:Why hormone imbalance is a downstream symptom (not a root cause) and what this means for your healingThe estrobolome: what it is, why your gut microbiome directly controls your estrogen levels, and what happens when it's out of balanceHow your gut can drive estrogen dominance, heavy periods, and PMSWhy a sluggish liver keeps estrogen recirculating in your bodyHow blood sugar dysregulation drives androgen excess, worsens estrogen dominance, and feeds the stress response cycleWhy two women can have identical hormone panels and need completely different approachesWhat to look at upstream of your hormones and how this is the foundation of everything I do with my clientsIf any of these symptoms sound familiar, this episode is for you:PMS, mood swings, or irritability before your periodHeavy, painful, or irregular periodsBloating, constipation, or digestive issues alongside hormonal symptomsFatigue that doesn't improve with restAcne, hair thinning, or unwanted hair growthWaking between 1–4amEnergy crashes, sugar cravings, or feeling "hangry"Symptoms that seem to shift or worsen during stressful periods Subscribe to the Aligned to Rise Podcast: Apple | SpotifyConnect w/ Alyssa:InstagramWebsiteWork w/ Alyssa:Free Period Pain PlaybookWork with me 1:1Learn more about AlyssaDisclaimer: This podcast is for educational purposes only. After a couple of months of silence, I'm back. And I want to tell you why.It started with a question I'd been sitting with for months: do I actually want to bring Fire and Soul back? The answer came within the first five minutes of a conversation with Danielle Amos, founder of the Mystic Millionaire Movement, and it cracked something open in me.In this solo episode, I'm sharing why I'm returning, what's evolving, and what Fire and Soul 3.0 is really about. It's not a rebrand. It's a deepening. From inspired action from an awakening soul to something even more essential: remembering your divinity. Not as a concept. As a lived reality.I reflect on the shadow work that was necessary and sacred and why it was never the whole story. I honor my last five years, including the grief portal that Austin was, that was always and only toward my highest evolution. Our true north is always calling us forward. Grounded in the body. Rooted in your true nature. Aligned with who you actually are. This is the show Fire and Soul was always meant to become.IN THIS EPISODEWhy I went quiet and what called me back. The through line that's run through Fire and Soul since 2019. Why shadow work matters and why it's not the full story. What it means to recognize your divinity as your starting point not your destination. And what's coming on the show.WORK WITH MEI've done a full overhaul on my world and there are beautiful new ways for us to connect, work together, and activate your gifts. In this solo episode, Axel dives into one of the most misunderstood and emotionally charged moments in any real estate transaction — the re-trade. He breaks down exactly what re-trading is, when it makes sense to do it, when it doesn't, and how to actually communicate a concession request in a way that protects both the deal and your long-term reputation in the market. He also shares real examples from Aligned's own deal history — including times they deliberately chose not to re-trade in order to protect relationships that eventually produced multiple future deals. This episode is essential listening for any active buyer working through due diligence who wants a clear, practical framework for making one of the trickiest calls in real estate — and making it the right way.Join us as we dive into:A clear definition of what re-trading is and the most common triggering events: physical due diligence findings, financial due diligence discrepancies, environmental issues, and rate movement during financingWhy the decision to re-trade is always a tradeoff between the financial cost of a finding and the reputational capital you spend by making the requestHow the calculus changes when you're buying with investor capital versus your own — and why being a fiduciary shifts the decision frameworkThe decision flowchart: is the finding terminal to the deal, or does it just have a quantifiable cost? Why environmental findings and major unpermitted work are among the few things that can actually kill a deal — and why even those are sometimes better handled by walking away than re-tradingThe real cost of re-trading small items — crappy water heaters, minor CapEx — on a million-dollar deal, and why protecting the relationship is often worth more than the creditThe philosophy behind absorbing manageable risk to maintain goodwill: "just because you extracted max value on that deal, if it prevents your ability to do the second — you probably lost"How to communicate a re-trade request: lead with data not emotion, use objective third-party findings and contractor quotes, and frame it as a partnership solution not an adversarial demandWhy giving sellers multiple options — price reduction, seller credit, pre-closing work, creative solutions — goes a long way in keeping the deal collaborativeThe importance of timing: why raising concerns early in the DD process is far better than waiting until the 11th hour, and how to set soft expectations before making the formal requestAre you looking to invest in real estate, but don't want to deal with the hassle of finding great deals, signing on debt, and managing tenants? Empowered Relationship Podcast: Your Relationship Resource And Guide
What if the key to lasting love wasn't just about finding the right person, but about growing the right partnership? Too often, couples step into long-term relationships without the relational tools, shared vision, or understanding of virtues that make for true unity. Instead of connection, misunderstandings and unresolved conflicts take root—leaving even the most committed couples wondering how to sustain harmony and joy in the face of life's everyday challenges. In this episode, listeners are guided through a practical roadmap for cultivating deeper unity within their relationships. Drawing on decades of experience and research, the conversation unpacks how virtues like respect, kindness, and flexibility serve as foundational elements to thriving partnerships. Listeners will hear about the stages of relational growth, learn tangible practices for resolving differences, and discover how to create a shared language and vision that brings them closer—not only to each other, but to a happier, more resilient family life. Susanne M. Alexander is a relationship and marriage educator and coach with her company, Marriage Transformation. She is certified to offer couples assessments and coaching through Prepare-Enrich® and for individuals with the Character Foundations Assessment™. Susanne has written/co-written over 30 books, including the most recent "Growing Our Unity: 19 Vital Practices for a Thriving Relationship". Susanne is co-lead on Accordia Way, a project that assists couples with excellent communication and decision-making skills. Episode Highlights 04:05 The Importance of character and virtues in relationships. 08:27 Developing and sustaining virtues: Tools, assessments, and early influences. 12:16 Virtues Project origins and the concept of unity as a relationship virtue. 15:33 Practicing unity without losing individuality. 17:54 The process of reaching unified decisions in relationships. 20:50 Navigating individualism and control dynamics in partnerships. 23:31 Balancing autonomy, collaboration, and flexibility. 27:49 The impact of unity on family, children, and community. 29:52 The 19 vital practices and applying virtues in everyday life. 35:11 Restoring connection and humor under relationship stress. 38:15 Consultation process: Detaching ego and co-creating solutions. 41:24 Symbolism in relationships and making unity a daily practice. Your Checklist of Actions to Take Schedule regular times to discuss important topics as a couple, allowing the conversation to flow naturally rather than treating it like a formal meeting. Identify and openly share your individual strengths and growth areas in relational virtues such as kindness, patience, and responsibility. Observe and assess your partner's demonstration of key virtues in various situations to gauge character compatibility and growth potential. Work on developing one or two virtues at a time rather than overwhelming yourselves with too many at once; focus on practical application each month. Prioritize unity during decision-making processes by listening to each partner's perspective and postponing decisions if mutual agreement isn't reached. Incorporate rituals or symbols (like a decorative bowl during conversations) to facilitate ego detachment and emphasize shared goals. Reflect as a couple on the integrity and unity of your relationship before individually committing to new community or family obligations. Participate in couples' groups or study circles to learn from and support each other in practicing relational virtues and building unity. This 6x company founder and CEO explains how to structure smarter climate tech investment rounds and actually get renewable energy projects financed.Peter Davidson is CEO and founder of Aligned Climate Capital, a $2B AUM multi-strategy firm investing across venture and infrastructure. He previously led the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Programs Office and has founded or led six companies.Aligned focuses exclusively on low-carbon investments, with a core thesis that strong returns, not concessionary capital, will scale the energy transition. Here's what we discussed:Capital strategy most founders miss – Second round should often be debt (bank, venture debt, DOE, green banks, vendor financing), not equity, to reduce dilution and extend runwayValuation is overrated – Partner quality, capital stack design, and working capital buffer matter more than headline priceOption pool trap – Negotiate “plussed up” pools to maintain ~5–10% through future rounds instead of getting diluted to zeroInfrastructure playbook – Buy NTP-ready community solar (3–10MW), build in 6–9 months, return ~70% capital via tax credits in ~3 years, then sell aggregated assets in years 6–7Market reality check – VC is constrained (few exits, fewer LP commitments), so founders must cut costs, accept lower valuations, or rethink viability--Join our confidential communityPrivate CEO group for VC/PE-backed climate tech founders navigating capital, strategy, and scale. If you grew up being the good girl — performing, people pleasing, shrinking yourself to stay safe and loved — this conversation is going to crack something open. Marina sits down with Luci Lampe, trauma-informed sex and relationship coach, four-time author, and award-winning singer-songwriter whose work has been featured in Forbes, the Huffington Post, CBS and Fox. Luci went from pastor's daughter and evangelical good girl to one of the most embodied, unapologetic voices in erotic liberation and spiritual reclamation — and together we trace exactly how that unravelling happened, what shame actually feels like in the body, and what it takes to stop performing and start living from your whole self. Work has always been demanding, but lately, it feels like the ground is constantly shifting. Business is moving faster, projects disappear overnight, expectations change without warning. Under pressure, teams see more tension and uncomfortable moments. So how do you stay steady through these times and even use workplace tensions to grow and improve? This week on Hello Monday, Jessi Hempel talks with Aiko Bethea, leadership coach and author of Anchored, Aligned, Accountable: A Framework for Transcending Bullsh*t and Transforming Our Lives. Aiko's book comes with a forward from Brené Brown, and offers a road-tested framework for navigating modern work with more clarity and intention. Instead of looking outward for stability, she argues that the real work starts within: understanding your values, recognizing your impact, and reclaiming your sense of agency. In this conversation, Jessi and Aiko discuss: Why work feels more chaotic than ever What it really means to be “anchored” in your values—and why most of us get this wrong How to align your decisions and behavior with what actually matters to you A more generous, effective way to think about accountability (hint: it's not about blame) The many forms of power operating inside organizations Why curiosity is the key to better leadership and stronger relationships How to stop waiting for external conditions to improve and start creating your own stability This episode is for anyone looking for a way to regain clarity, ownership, and direction in the middle of constant change.
