#199 - Healing Eczema from the Inside Out: Toxins, Steroid Withdrawal & the Identity Shift That Changes Everything with Kat Vong If you've ever looked in the mirror and felt betrayed by your own skin… If you've been told “it's just genetic” or “here's another prescription”… If you're quietly wondering whether something deeper is going on— Stop scrolling. This episode is the one you've been waiting for. Today I'm joined by my friend Kat Vong—host of the Well Done podcast and founder-in-the-making of a clean beauty brand for women with chronic skin struggles. Kat's story is raw, emotional, and wildly empowering. After years of battling off-and-on eczema that left her in physical pain and emotional exhaustion, Kat's body erupted in severe eczema just three weeks before her wedding. We're talking weeping wounds. Steroid injections. Oral steroids. Topicals on repeat. And that was just the beginning. What unfolded over the next several years included topical steroid withdrawal, toxic overload, leaky gut, postpartum depression, a NICU stay with twins at UCLA—and ultimately, a complete identity shift that changed everything. This conversation is about more than eczema. It's about the skin–gut–toxin connection. It's about stress, identity, and the nervous system. It's about what happens when you decide to heal—and cut off every other option. The best news - whether it's your skin or something else, healing.is.possible. In This Episode, We Cover: Heavy metals, phthalates, parabens—and how toxic burden shows up in your skin Leaky gut and why “everything” can suddenly become a trigger Why detox can initially make flares worse The missing piece in chronic healing: identity and mindset The hidden dangers of long-term topical steroid use What topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) actually looks like The beauty industry's blind spots—and what needs to change Practical skin barrier repair from the inside out How meditation rewires your biology (yes, really) Timestamps 00:00 – Meet Kat: severe eczema, beauty industry insider, and the wedding-week flare from hell 02:00 – Three types of steroids in three weeks (and why that mattered later) 03:30 – When the flares came back worse than before 05:00 – Discovering topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) and sleeping on towels 08:00 – The functional testing that changed everything: toxins, gut, inflammation 09:30 – Heavy metals, parabens, phthalates, mold—and why her practitioner was shocked 11:00 – Leaky gut, gluten markers, and the “everything is a trigger” phase 12:00 – Detox + TSW: when healing looks worse before it gets better 13:30 – Pregnancy, temporary glowing skin, and the devastating steroid shot before delivery 15:00 – NICU, postpartum depression, and the emotional toll of skin disease 18:30 – The surprising non-food trigger most people ignore: toxic burden 20:00 – Stress as gasoline on the inflammatory fire 21:30 – “You can't drain the bathtub if the faucet's still running.” 22:30 – Identity work: “I am someone who has eczema” vs. “I am someone who heals.” 26:00 – The meditations that changed her brain (inspired by Joe Dispenza and his books Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself and You Are the Placebo) 29:00 – The desperation loop that keeps people stuck 30:00 – Decide vs. choose: cutting off every other option 31:30 – Skin barrier repair explained simply (bricks + mortar analogy) 34:00 – Makeup, shame, leadership, and not feeling “enough” in the beauty industry 37:00 – Beauty, identity, and self-worth beyond appearance 39:00 – If you feel stuck, here's what you need to hear 41:00 – Turning pain into purpose 42:00 – Kat's upcoming clean beauty brand for chronic skin conditions Let's Talk Root Causes What struck me most in this conversation? It wasn't just the heavy metals or the leaky gut (although yes, those matter). It was this: You cannot heal in the same identity that created the illness. I've seen this over and over in clinical practice. We can remove inflammatory foods. We can support detox pathways. We can rebuild the gut lining. But if someone still believes, deep down, “This is just who I am”… the body listens. Kat didn't just detox her liver. She detoxed her identity. And that's where the shift happened. If You're Struggling with Chronic Condition Right Now… Here's your gentle but firm nudge: Get proper testing. Guessing is exhausting. Reduce inflammation first (you can't drain a bathtub with the faucet running). Support detox pathways before aggressive detox. Repair the gut lining. Regulate the nervous system daily. Decide that healing is happening—even if your eyes haven't caught up yet. Your body is not broken. It's communicating. And as someone who has walked countless women through chronic conditions, autoimmunity, skin flares—I can tell you: when we address toxins, gut integrity, stress, and identity together… things change. Connect with Kat Follow Kat's amazing journey and podcast: Instagram: @thewelldonepod Personal page: @iamkatvong Website: thewelldonepod.com Her upcoming clean beauty line is being formulated specifically for women who have felt invisible in the makeup aisle. And honestly? It's about time. If this episode resonated, send it to the friend who keeps saying, “It's just my hormones,” or “I guess I just have sensitive skin.” Sometimes it's not just sensitive skin. Sometimes it's your body asking for a new story. And that story? It can end very differently than it began. ✨Join the conversation: Share your thoughts with us on social media or in the comments!
She's glossy. She's glamorous. She's got contour for the gawds. This one is all about artistry, authenticity, and owning your beauty. In Episode 17 of Dishing with Buff Faye, Buff Faye spotlights the art of beauty, pageantry, and drag makeup with featured guest Beverly Iman Johnson, owner of Queen B Beauty. After a quick catch-up with Giovanni D. Diamond on Valentine's Day antics and modern dating (yes, Shady Cupid made an appearance), Buff pivots to the glam. Beverly takes us back to her early drag days in 1997 house pageants and legendary nights at Oleen's — the drag version of Cheers — where community and artistry thrived. She shares how drag helped her discover and refine her aesthetic prior to transitioning, and how that creative journey shaped her confidence and identity. Buff and Beverly reflect on how they met at a Scorpio talent show, how Beverly encouraged Buff's interpretive drag style, and how she helped plant the seed that led Buff toward Entertainer of the Year. Beverly has even beat Buff's face for pageants — and yes, Buff swears by her blush and contour palettes. From film and weddings to pageants, fashion shows, and reality TV, Beverly does it all. Queen B Beauty offers lashes, contact lenses, makeup supplies, and lessons — supporting queens and beauty lovers alike. Support Black queer entrepreneurship year-round and beyond Black History Month. The episode wraps with a quick round of YASSS QUEEN and a beauty tip you'll want to remember. Eat It Up.

Welcome, to a brand new bonus episode, my loves! From extreme historical beauty demands to clothing laws that targeted women, to the era when pants were treating like a public threat, this bonus episode uncovers the absurd systems that shaped, and still shape, women's lives. These restrictions weren't about fashion; they were about power, discipline, and keeping women in their place. These beauty "rules" weren't random; they were deliberate tools of control. What begins as curiosity quickly turns to outrage as the same patterns repeat across cultures and centuries. And once you hear them, you'll start noticing their modern echoes everywhere.Are. You. Ready?****************Sources & Further Reading:Medieval & Early Beauty PracticesMonica H. Rum mascara by Sali Hughes, Sam Chapman and Jo Jones were also there.During the episode I talk about my favourite products from each brand and why I rate them so highly. If you have a chance to go there I thoroughly recommend it. Before you can stand in the gap, you need to make up the hedge. Today, we look at someone in the Old Testament who decided to step outside of God's protection and boundaries and as a result affected his fellow brothers and sisters in their walk with the Lord.
In this message, Pastor Caleb discusses the importance of getting one's mind settled to serve God and be committed to Jesus Christ. Until one gets their mind made up, they will be tossed with various things in life, creating chaos and confusion, even though sin brings pleasure for a season. Everyone needs a Savior in Jesus Christ, but those who choose to serve Him must make up their minds. Send a textSupport the showFor more information for our church visit AGCSparta.org.

A Better Kingdom - Part 3: "Would You Just Make Up Your Mind Already?" Pastor Chris Jung
In this episode I interview Lori Atwood, CEO and founder of Fearless Finance, about making up for lost time on your financial journey. Lori shares her five essential steps to financial wellbeing and explains why spending less than you earn is the foundation of prosperity, regardless of your income level. The conversation covers practical strategies for women in their 40s and 50s who feel behind on retirement savings, as well as how to navigate the complex financial challenges of caring for aging parents. Lori emphasizes that transparency, avoiding financial avoidance, and prioritizing happiness are the keys to long-term financial success—not designer labels or keeping up with societal expectations.

This week, we continue our conversation with musician David Pajo (Slint, Papa M, Gang Of Four) as we start to delve into his music-film pick: the Louisville, Kentucky indie-music narrative film Half-Cocked, in which he also appears! We discuss David meeting filmmakers Suki Hawley & Michael Galinsky, the legendary Rocket House in Louisville where most of the musicians who acted in the film lived, Tara Jane O' Neil's amazing performance in the film, Slint, Ruby Falls and Rodan, The Grifters being cast as wise sages of the underground music world, the fake bands in the movie including The Guiloteens (starring Ian Svenonius, James Canty and Michelle Mae of The Make Up & David himself), not knowing what your friends did for work back then, Cathy Irwin from Freakwater's beautiful acoustic song in the film, the economics of making films vs. music in the 90s, Jon Cook of Crane and Ian's suggestions to the filmmakers for the plot of the film, why David's character was named Waldo in the film, David's first tour with his band Maurice opening for Samhain, Die Kreuzen starving on tour, Soviet France, how skinheads almost destroyed both of our initial music scenes, where we think the characters in the film ended up in real life, and more. A review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified 51 PFAS in 1,744 cosmetic products. Among the 25 most-used PFAS, 19 lacked sufficient safety data for assessment The most common PFAS in European makeup were polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in 26% of PFAS-positive products and perfluorodecalin in 22%, both used to soften skin In a 2021 study, researchers discovered that 82% of waterproof mascaras and over 60% of tested lipsticks and foundations contained high levels of fluorine, indicating the presence of hidden PFAS Several top brands like Urban Decay, Inglot, L'Oréal, Maybelline, Burt's Bees, and Bare Minerals have faced lawsuits or investigations for PFAS contamination despite being marketed as "natural" or "clean" While the FDA lacks a national ban, U.S. states are now leading the shift toward PFAS-free beauty products — nine states have passed or scheduled bans on intentionally added PFAS in cosmetics through 2032

In this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with longtime friend and beauty industry force Jaimee Holmes for an intimate conversation that marks a new chapter in her career—the launch of Fel. Known for shaping some of the most iconic products in prestige beauty, Holmes opens up about the personal experiences, creative pauses, and emotional clarity that ultimately led her to build something entirely her own.The episode traces Jaimee's journey from her early days at Sephora—where she learned the power of founder vision and retail storytelling—to pivotal roles at Benefit, Perricone MD, and Too Faced. She reflects on leading the launch of Better Than Sex Mascara, the conviction it took to push past skepticism, and how trusting instinct over trend can redefine an entire category. Later chapters at Kendo and Goop offered a different lens: overseeing countless brands and SKUs revealed just how crowded—and emotionally disconnected—the industry had become. That realization, paired with personal loss and reflection, became the quiet catalyst for Fel. Rather than chasing what's next, Holmes chose to look inward—building a brand rooted in nostalgia, emotion, and the universal language of a kiss. Fel's debut, Kissylips, is designed to be felt as much as worn: playful, tactile, and intentionally uncomplicated, with packaging and textures that evoke memory rather than perfection. At its core, Fel is about responsibility and care—especially for younger consumers. From globally clean, vegan formulations to a proprietary fel-good complex™ designed to support both the lip barrier and emotional wellbeing, every detail is deliberate. This isn't makeup built for speed or spectacle—it's built for connection.Listen to the full episode of Skin Anarchy to hear Jaimee Holmes share how Fel came to life, why meaning matters more than momentum, and how beauty's future may be rooted in feeling something again.SHOP FEL BEAUTYDon't forget to subscribe to Skin Anarchy on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your preferred platform.Reach out to us through email with any questions.Sign up for our newsletter!Shop all our episodes and products mentioned through our ShopMy Shelf!Support the show

EPISODE 126 - “THE WESTMORE DYNASTY: MAKE-UP TO THE STARS AND BEYOND” - 2/09/2026 Hollywood loves dynasties—acting families, directing families, producing families—but one of the most powerful dynasties in film history didn't appear on screen at all. And it's one of the rare family dynasties that began in silent films and continues working in film and TV to this very day: THE WESTMORE FAMILY. The Westmores were the architects of illusion and the sculptors of stardom. From the pioneering vision of GEORGE WESTMORE who laid the foundations of cinematic makeup, to the extraordinary careers of his six sons, this family transformed faces into movie stars and shifted the culture of how women thought of and accepted the use of makeup in every day life. Their techniques, philosophies, and innovations continue to influence how we see characters on screen today—often without even realizing it. Join us as we spend time with The Westmore Dynasty: Hollywood's ‘First Family' of makeup. Hi friends! Happy Tuesday!!On August 20, 1989, two brothers went to the movies and came home to a nightmare. Their wealthy Beverly Hills parents, José and Kitty Menendez, were found brutally murdered inside their mansion, and what looked like a shocking home invasion quickly became one of the most controversial cases in true crime history. At first, Lyle and Erik Menendez appeared to be grieving sons. But as investigators dug deeper, strange behavior, a lavish spending spree, and inconsistencies in their story raised disturbing questions. What really happened inside that house? And who was telling the truth? As the case unfolded, the narrative took a dark and unexpected turn, revealing allegations of abuse, a trial that captivated the nation, and a verdict that's still debated decades later. This story is layered, complicated, and full of twists. Plus, we circle back at the end with important updates that happened after this episode was originally recorded. Also, let me know who you want me to talk about next time. Hope you have a great rest of your week, make good choices, and I'll be seeing you very soon.xoBailey Sarian________FOLLOW ME AROUNDTik Tok: https://bit.ly/3e3jL9vInstagram: http://bit.ly/2nbO4PRGoodreads: https://bit.ly/44P51lpFacebook: http://bit.ly/2mdZtK6Twitter: http://bit.ly/2yT4BLVPinterest: http://bit.ly/2mVpXnYYoutube: http://bit.ly/1HGw3OgSnapchat: https://bit.ly/3cC0V9dDiscord: https://discord.gg/BaileySarianRECOMMEND A STORY HERE: cases4bailey@gmail.comBusiness Related Emails: bailey@underscoretalent.comBusiness Related Mail:Bailey Sarian4400 W.
