In today's episode, key leaders from NMI discuss how Gen Z and millennials are shaping the payments landscape and what businesses need to do to stay relevant. Tiffany Johnson, Chief Product Officer, starts by explaining how these generations influence payment preferences. Millennials, having witnessed the rise of the internet, exhibit diverse payment preferences ranging from cash to digital wallets, prioritizing quality, service, sustainability, and convenience. Gen Z, as true digital natives, expects seamless, mobile-first payment experiences and highly values privacy and security. Johnson emphasizes the importance of embedded payments and creating secure, seamless consumer experiences for NMI stakeholders.Vijay Sondhi, CEO of NMI, further explores the evolving payment preferences of these generations, noting that Gen Z primarily uses digital wallets and mobile payments, viewing their phones as extensions of themselves. Both generations are quick to abandon brands with friction-filled payment processes, favoring seamless, secure, and convenient methods. Sondhi highlights the potential of biometrics for secure authentication and the transformative role of AI in payments, which could shift focus towards enriching life experiences. He underscores the need for businesses to rapidly adapt, adopt scalable and inclusive payment solutions, and think like Gen Z to remain competitive.Kate Hampton, Chief Strategy Officer at NMI, concludes the discussion by emphasizing the importance of omnichannel strategies and payment orchestration in meeting the expectations of Gen Z and millennial consumers. Omnichannel strategies provide a consistent, connected, and seamless shopping experience across multiple channels, including in-person, mobile, online, and unattended. Consumers seek to eliminate friction by having various payment options contextually presented at the right time. For merchants, the challenge lies in integrating these payment methods while maintaining their brand's customer experience. Hampton explains that payment orchestration involves configuring and coordinating complex payment processes to create a smooth and differentiated experience. When done right, payment orchestration is invisible, ensuring effortless payments and enhancing overall customer experience and brand loyalty. This episode is a summary of three NMI podcast episodes - please visit NMI to listen to each separate episode.

My story, though unique in many ways, is also familiar to all. A story of struggle, of loss, of pain both physical and spiritual…and in the end, miraculously a story of triumph. I know not all stories have happy endings and for a long time, I feared that mine would not. I was adjusting my mind over time to embrace a new normal. A normal that included physical disabilities, brain damage and mental illness. However, with the Lord's tender mercies and even just a mustard seed of faith, I held on and the light came.
Dr. Tiffany Johnson is a feeler and a healer with an innate intuition who will make you feel like she knows you better than you know yourself. No kidding, this convo gave me literal goosebumps. I know you can feel the world changing. We are all feeling it in different ways right now. Dr. Tiffany shares how this changing world can and is affecting our bodies. She says that she has seen more people with brains being stuck in that fight or flight response. This can cause dysregulation, which can lead to overwhelm, anxiety, and physical symptoms. What dream did God put in you that you are required to bring to life? This question will ground you, bring in some hope, and get you back to bringing back responsibility for your own life. Tiffany has such an amazing take on why we need hope, our purpose, and how we unlock that space within ourselves. I can't tell you how good this conversation is. You are going to learn so much about yourself and how to get your brain and body ready for the next level of your life – even if things are feeling too heavy right now. Please listen to episode 77: Drew Her Out of Deep Waters before listening to this episode as Tiffany shares the story of when she was attacked by a shark. Tiffany Johnson survived a shark attack while on vacation with her husband in 2017. Every year since then, she takes time to pause and remember God's faithfulness before, during, and after the shark attack. Tiffany explains how this is an intentional habit for her as God commands it for our benefit. While it can be difficult remembering the terror she felt while it was happening, it sets the stage for her to also remember all the ways God was faithful in shielding her, protecting her, filling her with peace, and saving her life. In addition to a set aside time of remembering on the anniversary of the shark attack, she brings up parts of that day in conversations with her children. She wants them to know how God protected her and saved her. Not only does talking about God's faithfulness strengthen her faith, but it also strengthens her children's faith. In this episode, Tiffany refers to Judges 2:10-13 which says, "After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord's anger because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths." Tiffany comments that the Israelites forgot to remember all the things God had done and His faithfulness toward them. Their "forgetfulness" led to them forsaking God. We must remember God's faithfulness in our lives, so we aren't tempted to forsake God.Tiffany refers to the song "Do It Again" by Elevation Worship. You can listen to this song on YouTube. In 2017, Tiffany Johnson and her husband went on their yearly getaway to nurture their marriage: a cruise to the Bahamas and some adventures when the ship stopped at various ports. No kids. Lots of sun. Good food. What could go wrong? The parasailing adventure was fantastic, but the snorkeling adventure proved to be filled with one huge challenge followed by several other challenges. The huge challenge? A shark attacked Tiffany, biting off the bottom half of her dominant arm. Tiffany cried out to Jesus. And boy, did God show up in numerous ways! Tiffany shares, "the peace of the LORD surrounded me. It was thick and tangible."When describing how God was with her during the attack and the rescue efforts, Tiffany refers to Psalm 18:16 which says, "He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters." Her doctors declared that surviving the shark attack, receiving very delayed medical attention, and not needing a blood transfusion were nothing short of a miracle. It's been nearly six years since she encountered the shark. While that challenge impacted her life in many ways, it didn't stop her. In fact, she believes, "I'm not supposed to be here. God rescued me. He saw something in me to give me this second chance. I was rescued for a purpose."Tiffany started a ministry to share the message of overcoming the challenges we face in life. It's called 'Be an Overcomer.' She speaks to students to share the message of Jesus being alive and active in our lives. Additionally, she's co-authored two devotionals titled Endurance and Unchartered Waters.Connect with Tiffany at beanovercomerministries.com.

PART TWO: Parenting. Le sigh... that thing that matters most yet feels strangely ungraspable. Every family is different. Every parent is different. Then every kid is different. If we needed any more variables, you can factor in country, generational influence, cultural diversities, etc. In this episode of Java with Jen, I am being interviewed by Tiffany Johnson from the "What's the word" podcast, where SHE asks ME about parenting the next generation. Like anything else, I share my perspective, what's worked for me, and what the Lord has spoken to us for our family. Let this serve to come alongside your parenting experience, but never take someone else's approach as a GOSPEL guideline. Glean what might work for you, and just dust your hands of anything else. However this episode is packed with rich conversation, insightful questions and hopefully responses and insight that really serve you well and encourage you in your own journey. Never forget, the Holy Spirit is your GREATEST support system and has all the creative ideas for how to raise your kids well, in the way that THEY need to be raised. What is there that I could possibly say about this human being? It's a lengthy list, actually, and I know how we're all doing with attention spans these days. And that's fine. I know that -- if you care -- you'll read it, and if you don't, you won't. No big deal.I don't, um, mean to shun any of the previous guests of Badass Records Podcast, because they've all been super-fantastic. They really have.I've had my eye on this particular calendar date, though, and I feel really grateful that this conversation happened and did so with a quote/unquote timeliness as it pertains to the go-live launch date of this project, and that's because the nuts and bolts of this thing involve and require an investment to not only give time, but to be personal and honestish and vulnerable. And when the person you've known longer than most anyone on the planet agrees to sit down with you, you wanna do them right.Relationships are kinda like jobs. You gotta show up, clock in, and put in your 40 per week. At the very least. Or else the job essentially ends, right? And sometimes we take relationships for granted, and sometimes the fact that we've done just that (whether we realize it or not) does an unidentifiable bit of damage to the living, breathing thing that is the relationship. And sometimes we nurture and enable relationships when we probably shouldn't, and that has the potential to be damaging, too.Either way, they're delicate. Like newborns. You gotta support the neck and always have a burp cloth and a spare diaper on hand and don't be late for feedings or sleep, 'cause any one of those things can fuck shit up for the long-term.And I really like this relationship. It doesn't look like it always has, which has been a huge challenge for me to deal with and adjust to, and I haven't necessarily done a bang-up job at that, but I keep trying, and I think that maybe -- whether we know it or not -- that's all we really need from the important people in our lives: that they try.Anyway, this gal is one heck of a daughter. She's a pre-school director. She's a Hollywood fanatic. She's witty and she's organized. She's determined. And she makes one heck of a Mitt Romney video. She picked Crash by the Dave Matthews Band (1996), Everyday by Widespread Panic (1993), Live's 1994 release entitled Throwing Copper (1994), and a little blue number Phish put out that's called Rift (1993). If Yoda were here, he might say, Strong...with the early-to-mid-'90s...is this one.She also did her due diligence (not a Badass Records Podcast requirement, you should know) with her selections, in that she pondered and pondered and made a list and checked it twice. She's thorough like that. And she's epic, too. A can't-miss if you're new to B.R.P. She's amazing. She's a hoot. And she definitely makes my top-three-sister list.Tiffany Johnson, ladies and gentlemen.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the intro/outro audio clips. They are samples from "Colors." This is a monster, mega-track from Black Pumas's self-titled 2019 release (c/o ATO Records, LLC), and because the inclusion of two 10-second clips of that song that bookend a three-hour, original-content conversation, this episode will probably get a YouTube copyright claim slapped on it, which means that -- were this episode ever to one day be monetizable -- I don't get to have any of that. But whatever. That's not the point here. The point is to have quality conversations with quality human beings about quality music. That's what we do, and that's what we did. As my daughter might say (in signing off on a TikTok video), "So...yeah...."
On June 2, 2017, Tiffany's life was turned upside down when she suffered a shark attack while on vacation with her husband, J.J., in the Bahamas. But what the devil meant to kill, steal, and destroy, God has taken and used to show His glory, miracles, hope, peace, and love. That attack birthed a testimony of the power of God, and what it means to be an overcomer through Christ, that has been shared across the nation and around the world.Tiffany has appeared on the TODAY Show, ABC news, CNN, and other worldwide media outlets, and we're thrilled to have her as a guest on The Reluctant Leader Podcast. She overflows with gratitude and joy, and we know that you'll be full of the same at the end of this episode.Links to stay in touch with Tiffany:Connect with Tiffany on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.Learn more about Tiffany's ministry at www.beanovercomerministries.com- - - - - - - - - -Be sure to subscribe to The Reluctant Leader Podcast wherever you listen to podcasts, and share this with a friend or two so we can bring more people along with us on the journey.
