The Vampire Youth is a local hip-hop artist from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. We are back with the first episode of 2021, and our first guest is Pryor's own Dawn Bender. Dawn graduated from Pryor in 2000 then went onto her undergrad studies in Molecular Biology at NSU-BA and then her graduate studies in Cell Biology at the University of Oklahoma and worked at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. She is currently working at the Stephenson Cancer Center/OUHSC in colorectal cancers. About 1 in 23 women and 1 in 21 men will develop colorectal cancer during their lifetime. Co-founder and Sprint Development coach at Oklahoma Cheetah Track Club, Cory is introducing young boys and girls to what it means to be elite and what it takes to have that elite mindset. Along with coaching and mentoring these kids, he also brings in elite professional athletes to pass along their knowledge to help grow the sport. Not only is he working with sprinters, but Cory firmly believes that a good base knowledge of running can provide a window to success in nearly every other sport. In this episode, we visit with a couple of homegrown wrestlers who were able to take their talents to the next level and make that jump into the whole of MMA. Clay Marrs, who is a local firefighter in Tulsa and also owns a local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym called The Factory Grappling Club and Josh "The Beast" Bryant, who grew up wrestling at Coweta then went on to participate on The Ultimate Fighter Season 11. These two are like peas in a pod, talking about the how they got into the sport of BJJ, the adventures, and some of the great local athletes that came with and before them. Getting back into the swing of things, we got a chance to sit down with Adam Larson. Adam grew up here in Tulsa playing hockey and is now running one of the Dallas Stars Centers in the DFW area. Hockey has provided him an opportunity to live in our regions of the nation and gain a ton of knowledge that he is able to pass along to our youth. Finally we were able to "sit down," with our friend, Loren Baldwin.  Loren has been battling breast cancer for the past year, and in today's global climate that comes with even more difficulties. We talked with her about the adjustments she and her family have had to make during this difficult time, how big her tribe is, and ways to help other women in need during this time.
