Mike Ricksecker is the author of Deadly Heirs, a Chase Michael DeBarlo mystery novel, and Ghosts of Maryland. The son of a tool and die maker, Mike spent ten years growing up in western Massachusetts and began writing detective fiction as far back as the second grade. He carried his passion of writing with him back to Ohio, the state of his birth, where he created a myriad of short stories, novellas, and song lyrics. The character, Chase Michael DeBarlo, was also seen in print for the first time during this period. After a 6-year stint in the U.S. Air Force that bounced him between Texas, Mississippi, Alaska, and Maryland, Mike resumed his detective fiction by beginning to create an interactive computer game. During the project, he realized his true passion and began the task of writing a full-length novel. The game concept is still in development at this time, and the precursors can be experienced through the mini-mystery games available via the Mike Ricksecker Mystery newsletter. In 2004, Deadly Heirs, the first installment of the Chase Michael DeBarlo mystery series was published. The not-yet-published sequel has been completed with a third in the works.Although Mike and his family moved to Oklahoma in 2009, Ghosts of Maryland was published by Schiffer Publishing in 2010. He subsequently inked a deal to write a similar paranormal tome about ghosts and legends in Oklahoma, and the work is currently in production.Mike has been married to his wife, Robin, for sixteen years and they have four children.

As a child, I was fascinated by the thought of the paranormal. My grandfather, who was a Minister and a well seasoned traveler of the world, fed my intrigue with unexplained phenomena from a very early age. As the years went by, craving more information until I started exploring on my own. I have had many unexplainable happenings, experiences, and quite a few I would like to forget. Looking into each investigation with an open mind, but concentrating on facts rather then rumors. Living with the drive of a learning Parapsychologist at heart, and never-ending hunger for knowledge, I set out to find others like me.A group of professionals whose free services and sincere dedication press forward to increasing the public’s knowledge on paranormal phenomena. By gathering data in order to allocate logical explanations for reported anomalous activities. MRIPA is NOT a ghost hunting group. The MRIPA team researches all unexplained phenomena as well as train and educate those with questions or interests in the paranormal field. The term "Paranormal" means, "above the normal" and consists of many types of strange areas, from UFOlogy, Cryptozoology, Hauntings, Myths, Legends, Metaphysical, Lost Civilizations and much much more. The origin of the MRIPA team was created in 1996 and fell under the umbrella name of Xgen Paranormal. Jason Baker, the founder and creator, decided to separate the team in 2006 from its Xgenco roots because the interest in paranormal research grew so large that it could no longer be contained under the Xgenco name alone. The team was then enhanced and given its own separate identity and became known as MRIPA (Midwestern Researchers and Investigators of Paranormal Activity).
