I'm André Ravone! Prince George's County, Maryland native poet. I write poetry covering a wide range of topics. Some simple, some intricate. I hope that you will enjoy taking a journey with me through my mind, heart, soul and sometimes through a fictional lens.
Have you ever wished that you could take someone into alllllll of your senses? Well, in this episode I'm performing a poem titled "Makes Sense" that explores that very idea. Enjoy!
A new year, a new sound and new aspirations. I'm coming back with the intentions of creating a new formula and taking the P.D.P. to another level. Listen in to hear my plans for the podcast going forward and stick around for a newly written piece titled "I'll Survive". A wise man once said, "A house is not a home when there's no one there to hold you tight." No, this poem isn't a reference to Luther Vandross but if a relationship is a home then it cannot exist without love in it.
No hints about this one! Just listen as I talk about the one that keeps me brimming with light like the Sun in the early morning.
I am definitely an introvert! My bed is like a magnet that keeps me stuck to it, but sometimes I come across a woman who could pull me away.
I tell you exactly what it is. . . IT'S POWER! This is meant to be a bit ambiguous. Can you guess what I'm describing?
This is a note to self that isn't so. . . kind. I kind of had to realize that I cannot be frantic or panic when things get rough.
Ever heard the phrase "relationship goals"? Well, this is a relationship goal for me. I need that intimate communication with my partner. Understanding what she deals with on the daily and being her ear to divulge to. I want to hear about her day.
I'm sure people can tell how much music influences me as I drop this poem which highlights the names/monikers of some of my favorite Female vocalists. (Side note I cannot believe I left Ari Lennox out of this! Nikkie Ariel needs a mention as well. Oooh! Toss in Nao, Mariah The Scientist, Kirby, Brittany Howard, Chloe x Halle. . . dang, that's a lot to add.)
The title is slang in the Washington, D.C. & Prince George's County, Maryland area (somewhat including Virginia, so basically the "DMV"). I actually wrote this a couple of years ago to include all of my favorite Rap/Hip-Hop artists at the time. I love how it turned out and I hope that you will as well.
I wrote this in 2020 while watching the film "The Photograph" starring Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield. While it isn't directly related to the film, it shares the idea of wanting someone to help you feel complete or to always be with.
"To be or not to be? That is the question" of this poem specifically. This was written some time in the year 2016. Before Tonald Drump was elected to be "President". No, I'm not suicidal [anymore]. This poem is an existential crisis piece.
Warning: this poem contains the questions of a quarter life crisis. Also be advised that this poem contains profanity.
In this reciting, I perform a poem inspired by a film (127 Hours) and a song ("Hard Place" by H.E.R.) which is also a play on the phrase "Caught between a rock and a hard place". This is an expression of unconditional love with the woes of hoping a loving changes their ways.
This time I'm bringing you a poem that I wrote in mid-2021 titled "Corn Bread & Sweet Tea". This poem is a bit of a wake up call for Black relationships and unity. Not a long one but definitely provides a good message.
In this episode, I recite a poem I wrote a few years back titled "Dark Skinned Women". It's short and semi-sweet!
