What if you didn't have to wait for an apology, an explanation, or that perfect last conversation to feel at peace with your past? You don't need closure from someone else to move forward. You can create it for yourself. The good news is there's a practical, research-backed strategy you can use starting today. So instead of chasing one final conversation or piece of information that you think would give you closure, reclaim your energy, and writing your own ending. Some of the things I share are: What closure really is — and why your brain craves it after breakups, ghosting, or rejection The science of unfinished stories and why rumination keeps us stuck Why chasing “just one more conversation” almost always leads to more questions, not answers The simple four-step plan to create your own sense of closure The biggest mistake people make and how to avoid it How to cope with unfinished business The one time it makes sense to seek closure Subscribe to Mentally Stronger Premium for exclusive content like weekly bonus episodes, mental strength challenges, and office hours with me. It's the end of Evermore era (almost!) — and what better way to celebrate it than with the breakdown of closure. In this episode, Nick, Ana, and Amy dive deep into the meaning of "closure" from Evermore, exploring its chaotic intro, sharp lyricism, and what the song reveals about saying goodbye — even when you don't need to. From theories about who the song might be directed toward (Scott Borchetta? Scooter Braun? A former friend?) to how Taylor transforms sarcasm into strength, this breakdown covers it all. Plus, hear theories on why Closure isn't actually the final song on Evermore — and what that says about Taylor's storytelling. Join us next time for the unofficial end to evermore… before we get into the deluxe tracks. And up next… It's time to delve into The Life of a Showgirl! What You Need To Know To Start Your Sunday.
Pastor Dharius Daniels from Atlanta said at a recent conference that we sometimes have to choose closure without clarity. These are moments in which the matter has been settled even though we don’t understand everything, and it’s a liberating truth. When you have questions weighing you down and situations you can’t explain, it can either keep you stagnant or just walking in circles. Instead, we want to learn how we can continue to move forward. If you have been walking through a season of doubt, confusion or questioning, it’s time to lift up your head. The season of head-hanging and stagnation is over. Stop looking at where you’ve been and look up to see where you’re going. Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice for us to give us an abundant life, but you will never find God’s abundance looking down or looking back. You have to lift up your head and let the King of Glory into your everyday life.
What if your struggle with goodbyes isn't just about being emotional—but reveals something deeper about how you've been protecting yourself from grief? In this mini episode, Dr. Aimie Apigian shares one of her most personal stories about transformation: how her lifelong pattern of avoiding goodbyes led to carrying decades of unprocessed grief, and how learning to stay present through endings completely changed her life—and became the foundation for the 21-Day Journey. This episode explores the hidden costs of emotional avoidance, why goodbyes can feel unbearable, and how learning to feel complete with experiences is essential for moving forward without regret. Dr. Aimie vulnerably shares her journey from someone who would literally book trips to avoid final goodbyes, to someone who could sit with her dying friend David and ask the question she'd never been able to ask before. In this episode you'll hear more about: The pattern of goodbye avoidance: How Dr. Aimie would emotionally distance herself long before endings arrived, protecting her heart but never feeling complete with experiences The hidden burden of unfinished goodbyes: Getting busy, finding escapes, leaving early—even booking trips specifically to avoid being present for closures The grief underneath: Why each goodbye felt so hard—it was tugging on a lifetime of accumulated, unprocessed grief from every goodbye she'd never properly faced The embarrassment of emotional sensitivity: Hiding her feelings to appear strong and tough, then sobbing alone once she was by herself The pattern of depletion: Always wanting more, never feeling like there was enough time, never feeling complete—and how this connected to her inability to say goodbye David's story: Meeting an 82-year-old man who became a dear friend during the pandemic, and the decision to bring him home from isolation when he was dying alone The question that changed everything: "Is there anything you feel you need to feel complete before you pass on?"—a question Dr. Aimie had never been able to ask patients in her years working in general surgery The moment of transformation: Sitting with David as he held her hand over his heart, not bracing herself, heart wide open—becoming a completely different person than the Aimie who would've found dishes to do or papers to file The birth of the 21-Day Journey: How the specific exercises and sequence were designed in those final hours with David, born from the realization that if she could change this much, anyone could The commitment to not do it alone: Why Dr. Aimie designed the journey to safely guide others through their healing, just like she did for David—providing not just exercises, but the science and support so no one has to figure it out alone Your relationship with goodbyes reveals more about you than perhaps any other aspect of your life. Learning to stay present through endings, to feel complete with experiences, and to honor what's been while still moving forward—this is the gift of true closure.

Grief doesn't keep a tidy calendar. After months of waiting, closed doors, and a family pulled in different directions, we finally laid a mother to rest beside her dad and felt the first real breath of relief. The next morning, we did something brand new together: we walked into church as a family, not for ceremony or obligation, but for hope. What unfolded was honest and unscripted—tears in the first song, our toddler dancing through worship, and a message that hit like a key turning in a lock.We talk openly about addiction, suicide, and the strange ways grief lingers—like driving the old routes, searching faces you know you won't find. Then we share how a TikTok live, a warm voice, and a simple prayer sparked a commitment to read the Bible in a year and pursue baptism. Faith wasn't a dramatic conversion moment so much as a series of small, brave yeses: ordering tabs for a new Bible, choosing a church with a strong children's program, and realizing that godparents should be a calling, not just a title.Inside the service, one image reframed everything: empty the cup. You can't mix coffee, wine, vinegar, and salt water and expect something good. In the same way, you can't fill a crowded heart with peace. We explore what it means to pour out distraction, fear, and resentment so there's room for healing, presence, and purpose. We also wrestle with feeling “behind” in faith and offer a gentler goal—know a little more about Jesus today than yesterday. When a relationship ends, it's natural to crave closure. We want answers, explanations, or one last conversation that will tie everything up neatly and help us move on. But the reality is, closure rarely comes from someone else — it's something we have to create for ourselves. In this episode, I share some hard but freeing truths about closure:Why the relationships that leave us most desperate for closure are usually the ones least likely to give itHow the idea of a “closure conversation” can sometimes be a hidden way of keeping the door openWhy even when we get answers, they rarely soothe us in the way we hopeThe difference between chasing closure from someone else versus cultivating it within yourselfPractical ways to create your own sense of closure and peaceIf you've been waiting for that message, that explanation, or that final conversation to make things better, this episode will help you see closure differently — and take back your power to move forward.Highlighted Links Free Break-Up Training: The 3 Shifts That Help Anxiously Attached People Heal After a Break-up Free Training: How to Heal Anxious Attachment and (Finally) Feel Secure in Life & Love Additional Resources Download the FREE Anxious Attachment Starter Kit here Join my email list
We've all been there—waiting for that apology, explanation, or “one last talk” that never really brings peace. In this episode, Lori dismantles the myth of closure and explains why the human mind—and especially the ego—becomes obsessed with resolution after loss, betrayal, or abandonment. Using psychology, neuroscience, and raw honesty, she breaks down: *Why your brain loops unfinished stories (Zeigarnik effect) and how to close them internally. *How your ego uses the need for closure to avoid vulnerability and surrender. *The link between attachment styles and craving closure. *The neuroscience of rejection and why emotional pain registers as physical pain. *How to stop negotiating with reality when you don't get answers, justice, or validation. *Powerful techniques to self-close: somatic rituals, reality acceptance, and reframing. If you've ever said “I just need closure,” this episode will change the way you think about healing forever. You'll walk away with a new understanding of how to free yourself from emotional loops, rebuild safety inside your body, and let go—without permission. Closure isn't a conversation. It's the moment you stop negotiating with reality. Become A Patreon: www.patreon.com/thepositivityxperience.com Let's Work Together: www.thepositivityxperience.com
Post-Dispatch podcasts page: https://go.stltoday.com/0hfn43 Please consider subscribing: https://go.stltoday.com/9aigz5 It's been a minute since a brand-new Best Podcast in Baseball and there's a lot to catch up on. For the first time in 18 years, the Cardinals have a new president of baseball operations, and for the first time in even longer they're talking about a team-building plan that doesn't include promises of aiming to contend for a World Series championship. That will likely mean an active winter of trades. At the same time, two prominent former Cardinals, Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina, are throwing their names in the ring for manager vacancies elsewhere, with at least two teams (and likely a third soon) entertaining Pujols as a strong candidate for their open position. And, in the past week, a former Cardinals manager Mike Shildt retired from the position with San Diego, spurring conversation about why he left both jobs abruptly and resurfacing reasons reported in the Post-Dispatch and elsewhere after his sudden firing in 2021. Former players and old conversations all swirl together to invite the question on whether to truly move in a fresh direction did the Cardinals need a stretch like this that brings closure to the past and signals the new era. Kevin Wheeler, of KMOX/104.1 FM, joins Derrick Goold for a (long overdue) new episode of BPIB to discuss that and more. The "just hanging on" kitten plays a prominent role in the conversation. In its 13th season as one of the first and most widely heard podcasts on baseball and the Cardinals, the Best Podcast in Baseball, sponsored weekly by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and Derrick Goold.
