Nature is indifferent to my interpretations of morality and justice. We humans tend to moralize everything, but not everything has a moral. Every ending doesn't have to feel like a punishment for bad behavior. This means that some of the most painful things that have happened to you had absolutely nothing to do with your character. You didn't make mistakes and fail and deserve some painful outcome. There is power in grieving when unfair things happen to you, but there is no use in blaming yourself or asking yourself what you could have done differently beyond acquiring some wisdom for the future. If I find myself taking things extra personally, I try to remind myself that the universe doesn't work like that. Existence is confusing and chaotic and strange and unpredictable. When something bad happens it can be really easy to wonder why it happened. What we did to deserve it? Why everyone else seems to have it better and we are the target of such a painful reality?Nature doesn't work in just or kind or loving ways. It happens because of countless factors coming together in a moment of chance. Some consider this luck, but I don't think of luck as something some people have or don't. Sometimes, the wrong place at the wrong time is enough to explain the why, and there is no grand moral story at the end. The Washington Roundtable's Susan B. Glasser interviews General David Petraeus about where the conflicts in Iran and Ukraine might be headed and what they can tell us about the future of warfare. They discuss the fleets of inexpensive drones which have upended traditional combat, how the impending arrival of A.I.-powered automated systems might “revolutionize” the battlefield, and what institutional overhauls Petraeus believes are urgently needed at the Pentagon in order to respond. “We need to do a lot to catch up,” Petraeus says. “But there are vested interests in the military-industrial-congressional-complex that are gonna fight tooth and nail for any actions that change force structure, reduce the aircraft they have on their ramp in their congressional district, or production of manned ships, manned tanks, or whatever else it is, and this is gonna be a fight.” This week's reading: “After Six Months of War, Trump Is Still Losing to Iran,” by Ishaan Tharoor “Is the Smithsonian Really Trying to Destroy America?,” by Julian Lucas “A Trump Grift Too Far?,” by John Cassidy “Donald Trump Is Still Trying to Make It Harder to Vote,” by Amy Davidson Sorkin “The Show That's Charting a Post-Trump Future,” by Jon Allsop “How Far Will the Trump Administration Go to Deport Mahmoud Khalil?,” by Andrew Marantz “How I Became a Subaru Socialist,” by Jay Caspian Kang “Can Head Start Be Deregulated Out of Existence?,” by Jessica Winter The Political Scene draws on the reporting and analysis found in The New Yorker for lively conversations about the big questions in American politics. Deconstruction, doubt, and church hurt are reshaping how many people see Christianity, but what happens after you pull everything apart? In this episode, Dave and Josh unpack the deconstruction movement, share honestly about pain, abuse, and big questions about God, and wrestle with whether atheism, science, or “spiritual but not religious” offers anything solid to stand on. They explore what it could look like to move from endless critique to reconstructing a thoughtful, durable faith in Jesus.

Drawing on Rebbe Nachman, the Baal Shem Tov, and the Rebbe Rashab, Reb Joey explores joy not simply as an emotion, but as a deep awareness of Hashem's ever-present goodness—a freedom that comes through letting go of self, relinquishing the need to control, and learning to receive life as a gift.Support Reb Joey's Torah: https://inwardtorah.org/support
Original Air Date: March 30th, 2026 In this fresh clip, the man who's been wrong for three decades is at it again, solemnly declaring that some climate damage is already “not reversible” while warning it's “probably inevitable that we're going to see Greenland go and the west Antarctic ice sheet go.” He tells us the world's shallow coral reef systems are “very much in danger,” so if you want to see them, you'd better “get scuba certified immediately” — right before casually throwing in that New Orleans might need saving too. Gore admits the most dangerous impacts are “still avoidable and preventable” if we just “stop using the sky as an open sewer for this civilization-destroying pollution”… because apparently the same scientists whose 20-year-old doomsday predictions he now calls “dead right” have suddenly nailed it this time. No new data, no evidence, just the same recycled panic, the same furrowed brow, and the same urgent plea to trust him — again. Same Gore, same script, different decade. The ice sheets, the reefs, and the sky are all doomed… unless you buy what he's selling. Classic. Why God Commanded a Feast Instead of a Fundraiser Most Christians think of tithing as an obligation. But Deuteronomy 14 presents a very different picture. In this message, Lenny Esposito explores how God designed the tithe not merely to support ministry but to create worship, gratitude, fellowship, and celebration. Discover why giving helped Israel fear the Lord, care for others, support God's work, and rejoice in His blessings—and what that means for Christians today.

Malcolm Hoenlein: Recent reports reveal the existence of Iranian-backed assassination cells such as the Foxtrot group, which recruits European criminals to target Jewish and Israeli figures. In the Levant, the IDF continues to discover unprecedented tunnel complexes in Lebanon and Gaza, some so vast they require dedicated cement factories to seal. These reinforced, air-conditioned structures demonstrate a massive diversion of humanitarian funds toward military infrastructure. While a pilot zone plan aims to restore Lebanese sovereign authority, Hezbollah's refusal to disarm remains the primary obstacle. Similarly, in Gaza, Hamas is reportedly distributing rifles to operatives to circumvent disarmament agreements while demanding an Israeli withdrawal. (3)1585

Are Christians Watching Movies the Wrong Way? | Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has divided audiences—but are Christians debating the wrong issue? Lenny Esposito and philosopher Dr. Owen Anderson explore how believers should evaluate great works of art, asking whether movies should be judged by historical accuracy alone or by the worldview they present. Along the way, they discuss Homer, Christian culture, redemption, and why Nolan's film raises questions that ultimately point beyond ancient Greece to the gospel.

How do we know that God exists? Can reason lead us to God?In this episode, we begin a new series exploring one of the most famous arguments for the existence of God: St Thomas Aquinas' cosmological argument. Before diving into Aquinas' First Way, we take a step back and look at the big picture. What exactly is a cosmological argument? How does it work? And why did Aquinas think that observing the ordinary world around us could lead us to the existence of a First Cause or Unmoved Mover? In this episode, we discuss: What a cosmological argument is Why we often reason from visible effects to invisible causes Aquinas' observations about change, causation, and contingent existence The difference between temporal and hierarchical causes What Aquinas means by a First Cause or Unmoved Mover Why Aquinas is not yet trying to prove every Christian belief about God How this overview prepares us for Aquinas' First Three Ways This is the first episode in a series unpacking St Thomas Aquinas' arguments for the existence of God. Whether you're interested in philosophy, theology, apologetics, or simply wrestling with life's biggest questions, I hope these episodes help make Aquinas' thought more accessible and encourage you to explore these remarkable arguments for yourself.SUPPORT THE PODCASTThis podcast relies 100% on the generosity of viewers. Philosopher, professor and political expert Stephen A. Simon is joining us today on the ITBR! Fascinating is an understatement... Stephen provided an awesome conversation intertwining the metaphysical, political and philosophical in a way that makes the abstract understandable. His 2025 spiritually provocative book Why Does Anything Exist?: An Introductory Exploration taps into our innate human curiosity for answers by using not just one, but a variety of means to explore that question rather than answer it directly. Science, religion, philosophy, and even mathematics is explored to tackle our broadest and most daunting question yet.Check out the link below to purchase your copy of Why Does Anything Exist?: An Introductory Exploration https://broadviewpress.com/product/why-does-anything-existHead to Broadview Press, an independent academic publisher, for all your humanities related books. In Night Two of Counterfeit, Copycat, or Christ?, we examine Gnostic and archaeological sources that contribute to the historical case for Jesus of Nazareth. We explore writings such as the Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Truth, Apocryphon of John, Treatise on the Resurrection, Gospel of Peter, and Papyrus Egerton 2—asking what these noncanonical sources reveal about the historical memory of Jesus, his teachings, crucifixion, and resurrection claims. We also evaluate archaeological evidence connected to the New Testament world, including the Nazareth Inscription, the James Ossuary, and the Shroud of Turin. While these sources differ in reliability and interpretation, together they demonstrate that the debate in antiquity was not primarily about whether Jesus existed, but about who he was and what his life, death, and resurrection meant.Ultimately, the evidence brings us back to the most important question: “But you,” he asked them, “who do you say that I am?” — Matthew 16:15 CSBThanks for listening to the Greater Works Discipleship Ministries podcast. Can an atheist and a Christian debate God's existence... and become genuine friends? In this conversation, Dr. Adam Lloyd Johnson and Andrew Drinkard join Dr. Tim Stratton and Josh Klein to discuss Debating God's Existence, a unique book born out of Adam's 2022 public debate with atheist Dan Barker. The discussion didn't end on stage—instead, it sparked a collaborative volume featuring leading Christian philosophers and theologians that continues the conversation about God's existence. This is the only book endorsed by both William Lane Craig and Alex O'Connor! A remarkable testament to its thoughtful and charitable approach to one of life's biggest questions. The Culture Is Raising Your Kids... Unless You Do This | Natasha Crain Every parent wonders whether their children will keep their faith—but maybethe greatest danger isn't that our kids don't know enough Bible verses. Maybe it's that they're being discipled every day by a culture built on a completely different worldview. In this episode of Come Let Us Reason Together, Lenny Esposito sits down with Natasha Crain to discuss why worldview matters more than ever, why apologetics must begin with a biblical understanding of reality, and how parents and grandparents can prepare the next generation to stand firm in an increasingly hostile culture.

“Existence is struggle,” says Marc Steiner. “It always has been, and always will be.”In this podcast series, we've looked at the attacks on free speech rights today in the United States. We looked at the history and how movements and organizations have stood up for and exercised free speech in their work. We looked at how social media, AI, and disinformation are undermining our free speech, and at how people are responding in the United States and abroad. In the final episode of this series, we're focusing on what free speech means within the context of the life of one person who has been through it all — co-host Marc Steiner. He turned 80 earlier this year. In this episode, Michael Fox sits down with Marc to discuss all of these incredible layers of his life, from fighting civil rights and community organizing to underground newspapers, street theater, education, and journalism. What do they all mean for him, how do they all add up to nearly seven decades standing up and fighting for free speech, and how they fit into the battle for free speech today?“You have to step back and really listen to what people are saying so you can bring out their truth so others can wrestle with it,” says Marc. “And if they need confronting in their process, you confront it and push back. Which is why when I think about what we do, how important it is — We have a critical role to play in bringing understanding to the world. The truth lives in every corner. And you have to listen. No one has a hold on it.”In our conversation, Marc says right now the battle for free speech is more important than ever. “I think we're politically facing the most dangerous moment in my lifetime,” says Marc, “where the right is seizing power across the country — the racist right is seizing power. And that now the battle for free speech is more critical than ever. We cannot let them take it away. We have to stand up to that.”The Battle for Free Speech Podcast is a production of The Real News Network.Hosted by Michael Fox and Marc Steiner. Exploring the urban legend of Mel's Hole, a supposed bottomless pit first heard about on Coast to Coast AM. It was said to emit a black beam, restore a pet back to life, and even be a portal to another dimension. Support us directly: https://www.redwebpod.com On a night like any other, Coast to Coast AM was live on the radio in Washington State, USA. The overnight program discussed all things uncanny and entertained the discussion of a local man who claimed his backyard held something otherworldly. He would call periodically over the next 5 years, each time with new information about a magical bottomless pit in his backyard. What started as a piece of local lore eventually required a full government intervention, and the man was never heard from again. Today, we're discussing the eerie urban legend of Mel's Hole. The greatest proof that God is real may be far simpler than most people expect. Zach recalls dismissing his mom's uncomplicated answer about seeing God in creation, only to hear one of the world's leading Christian philosophers give nearly the same response the very next day. Al, Christian, and John Luke join him to examine how nature, Scripture, reason, and faith work together to reveal who God is, why blind faith is not biblical faith, and how believers can keep growing beyond shallow social media theology. The guys laugh about Jase promising a 15-minute sermon when he's famously long-winded and come to the realization that announcing only the winner's first name could leave multiple Mirandas wondering if they're the winner of the 'Unashamed' studio visit giveaway. In this episode: 1 John; James 1–2; Genesis 1; John 1; Romans 1:20; Hebrews 11; Ecclesiastes 3:11; Psalm 139 Today's conversation is about Lesson 1 of Theology 101: The Western Theological Tradition.
