María Santos nos trae el tiempo de esta semana. Ha llegado esta semana a la península la primera DANA a la que los servicios de meteorología ponen nombre por su intensidad: Alice. Aemet ha decidido nombrar aquellas danas con alto potencial de impacto, cuando activan avisos naranjas o rojos por lluvias o nevadas en zonas amplias. Ya desde el pasado jueves ha dejado lluvias intensas y torrenciales en las Islas Baleares y el cabo de la NAO afectando también a la costa valenciana, ciudad real, Albacete y Guadalajara. Hoy sábado 11 se espera el punto álgido del episodio, con los vientos del nordeste alcanzando su máxima intensidad. Los chubascos más intensos se esperan en Valencia, Alicante y Murcia, donde serán localmente muy fuertes, probablemente de intensidad torrencial, y con acumulados que podrían superar los 140 mm en 12 horas, de manera más probable en la provincia de Valencia. Las tormentas se extenderían hasta el sur de Cataluña, norte de la Comunidad Valenciana, este de Castilla-La Mancha y Andalucía, preferentemente en las Béticas. El domingo 12 el viento en superficie perderá intensidad, pero se espera que continúe la situación de inestabilidad en niveles medios y altos y los vientos húmedos en niveles bajos, con los chubascos más intensos, localmente fuertes o muy fuertes, siendo más probables entre el cabo de la Nao y la desembocadura del Ebro, pudiendo alcanzar el interior de la Comunidad Valenciana, sudeste de Aragón, y Baleares. This will allow us to scale our early-warning system to where we could flag many engineered pathogens early enough to mitigate their worst impacts, and also generate large amounts of data to develop, tune, and evaluate our detection systems. One of the biological threats the NAO is most concerned with is a 'stealth' pathogen, such as a virus with the profile of a faster-spreading HIV. This could cause a devastating pandemic, and early detection would be critical to mitigate the worst impacts. If such a pathogen were to spread, however, we wouldn't be able to monitor it with traditional approaches because we wouldn't know what to look for. 'Sen-betweeners' is the term Lisa Lloyd, a mum of two autistic children, uses to describe her children.
