Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for March 23, 2026 is: frenetic • frih-NET-ik • adjective Something described as frenetic is filled with excitement, activity, or confusion. The word is a synonym of frantic. // The event was noisy and frenetic, which prompted us to leave early. In modern use, frenetic can describe a focused and intense effort to meet a deadline, or dancing among a hyped-up crowd, but the word's Middle English predecessor, frenetik, had a narrower use: it was used to describe those exhibiting a severely disordered state of mind. If you trace frenetic back far enough, you'll find that it comes from Greek phrenîtis, a term referring to an inflammation of the brain. As for frenzied and frantic, they're not only synonyms of frenetic but relatives as well. Frantic comes from frenetik, and frenzied traces back to phrenîtis.

At the tail end of the '90s, promo mixes weren't about streams, algorithms, or playlists, they were weapons. Burned CDs passed hand-to-hand in dark booths, shoved into promoter pockets, traded on dancefloors. If you wanted bookings, you proved it in the mix. Two of mine from 1999 and 2000 ended up taking on lives of their own. They were part of a series I called Harder, Faster, Louder ! Raw, unapologetic snapshots of where my head was at musically: peak-hour pressure, acid-laced riffs, relentless kick drums, and that unmistakable late-90s hard house attitude. I could never keep copies of those two volumes around. They'd vanish as fast as I burned them. This episode rebuilds them, not as a nostalgia piece, but as a reconstruction. I pulled the core tracks, rebuilt the arc, and fused both mixes into a single set that captures the spirit of that era exactly as it felt: loud rooms, hot lights, and zero interest in subtlety. In this episode of Crime Bit with Danelle Hallan, we look into the 2015 disappearance of 29-year-old Jesse Farber from Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. After days of unusual behavior and missed work, Jesse called his partner Rachel on August 11 saying he was being chased by 10 to 11 coyotes and needed help, then the line went dead and he was never found.  Search teams combed Sharp Mountain, where coal pits and air shafts made the terrain dangerous, but no trace turned up. Later items believed to be his were reported in the woods, raising questions about an accident, a hallucination, or possible outside involvement. Jesse remains missing.

On December 30, 2025, a missed workday raised alarms. First there was a 28-point plan pushed by Trump last Wednesday, as a solution to end almost four years of a war that has devastated Ukraine and killed hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians. By the weekend, there had been a redraft. A slimmed down 19-point proposal. This time seemingly less skewed towards Russia. By Tuesday, at a summit in Abu Dhabi, US, Russian and Ukrainian officials were hammering out a third version. The Guardian's Russian affairs reporter, Pjotr Sauer, told Nosheen Iqbal what it has been like to watch these twists and turns

President Trump is in a rage over his inability to get MAGA to stop talking about the Jeffrey Epstein files. He unleashed a furious Truth Social tirade on it, and then rambled bizarrely about it to reporters for a minute straight.
