One of my favourites in the Navratna category, Jamini Roy. Who is considered to be one of Indias great painters. He became famous for his Kalighat style painting, which he painted with natural colours, and pigment. He moved away from the Western Idea of Indian art, and made his inspiration - Bengal. Greatly influenced by the Tagore brothers and Sunyani Devi, the sister. He changed his earlier technique from landscape to figurative. Drawing inspiration from Christian iconography and Indian mythology
