What comes to mind when you think about love? Is it that old saying that love hurts.. or that love is complicated?? If you believe that then you have the wrong idea.. Love is gentle, its kind and its a choice... People say you don't choose who you love... that may be true... but you do choose who you give your love too.. and if you find yourself giving love and not receiving equal effort in return.. then you might just be attached to that person... waiting on the chance for love. Do you feel good about yourself when someone gives you a compliment? Does it take receiving a compliment to make you feel good. I have a problem!! When I have an issue or feel a certain because of situations and scenarios, I don't want to be met with ridicule, attitude, defensiveness and misunderstanding. I want to be met with patience, understanding and warmth. Everyone should be able to feel those things when expressing themselves but so many of us struggle to give them. Why? How do you feel about your environment?? Does it add to your morale or take away from it. We often overlook the importance our environment plays in our lives. It's supposed to be your place of peace, where you and your partner or family feel free to express themselves and can recharge for the battles we fight on a daily basis. We all like to believe "If I was ever in this situation, I'd do this" We think that until we're in it! You've heard it once and you'll hear it again... hindsight is always 20/20. That couldn't be more true in my case. Looking back, I handled my divorce all wrong.. When she told me she wanted out, I fought, pleaded and begged her to stay. Guess what, that didn't make a single difference. When I think about it now, there are so many things I wish I had done differently to accept it and put that situation behind me. Male ego is a real thing. It keeps most men from wanting to feel loss or feel like their losing.. it did in my case and to protect that ego we will go to great lengths, including some of the things discussed in this episode of The Father's BluePrint. Anyone with a kid knows its tough to raise one alone. Its even more difficult to raise one when you and the other parent have different views on what's best for the child. Now throw the fact that you both agreed to parent a certain way but the other parent doesn't uphold their end of the bargain. How do you handle that? Should you curse them out, should you use the child as an instrument to get your way or should you make it difficult for the other parent to spent time with the child?
