When a foreign national marries a US citizen or lawful permanent resident and obtains a conditional green card, most folks know that the foreign national needs to file for removal of conditions before the 2 year anniversary of the green card's start date. Elections have consequences. And while Joe Biden's DHS and USCIS are moving way too slowly in fixing the wreckage wrought to our immigration system by Trump, Jeff Sessions and Stephen Miller, they did make one smart move on Friday. If you have been married for less than 2 years when you get your marriage-based green card, you will receive a conditional green card. This conditional green card has the same rights and privileges as a full, 10 year green card. But immigrants are sometimes still scared to travel overseas on the conditional green card.
