As New York City celebrates Zohran Mamdani's primary win, MAGA, Wall Street, and a handful of Democrats succumb to socialist paranoia. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth lashes out at the press after CNN reports that last weekend's airstrikes barely set back Iran's nuclear program. President Trump pressures Congress to pass his Big Bullshit Bill by July 4th, despite a new ruling from the Senate Parliamentarian that could sink it altogether. Jon and Dan react to Senator Mitch McConnell's claim that "people back home" will "get over" Medicaid cuts, the administration's desperate attempt to make their Iran strikes look like a success, and offer Zohran-skeptical Democrats some honest advice about what their voters want. Then, Jon talks to Congressman Robert Garcia, the new top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, about investigating ICE and why he thinks Stephen Miller is the "biggest piece of shit in the country."

Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four Thursday takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. PC Pres Corps Hour 1 of The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show dives into the explosive fallout from a leaked intelligence report questioning the effectiveness of a recent U.S. military strike on Teran. Hosts Clay and Buck, alongside commentary from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, launch a full-throated defense of the mission and President Donald Trump’s leadership, while sharply criticizing the mainstream media for what they describe as politically motivated reporting. The hour opens with a breakdown of the CNN and New York Times leaks, which suggested the strike may have failed. Buck Sexton, drawing on his intelligence background, explains the complexities of identifying leakers and the dangers of politicizing classified information. The hosts argue that the leak was a deliberate attempt by the “deep state” to undermine President Trump’s credibility and military success. Pete Hegseth’s fiery Pentagon press conference is a focal point, where he accuses the press corps of rooting against Trump and downplaying the bravery and precision of U.S. pilots. The segment includes a viral moment where Hegseth is questioned for not explicitly acknowledging female pilots, prompting a broader discussion on gender politics in the military and media. A former female military pilot calls in to express support for Hegseth, dismissing the controversy as media-driven nitpicking. Why What Happens in NY Matters Everywhere the political upheaval surrounding New York City's mayoral race, highlighting the rise of Democratic Socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani. Clay and Buck analyze the implications of Mamdani's nomination, emphasizing how his progressive platform—backed by figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders—signals a broader shift within the Democratic Party. They explore the national ramifications of this political momentum, warning that what happens in New York could soon influence Democrat-led cities across the country. The hosts critique Mamdani's proposals, including an 800% increase in funding for hate crime prevention and his assertion that the criminal justice system is inherently racist. They argue these initiatives are more about left-wing indoctrination than effective governance. The conversation also touches on Mamdani's savvy use of social media and his appeal to younger voters, many of whom are financially supported by their parents and drawn to socialism despite benefiting from capitalism. Local Story with National Reach Eric Adams, the current NYC mayor, is portrayed as a potential moderate counterweight, possibly running as an independent. The show discusses the strategic challenges Adams faces, especially if former Governor Andrew Cuomo enters the race, potentially splitting the anti-Mamdani vote. The hosts also examine the fractured state of the Democratic Party, debating whether it can still suppress far-left candidates or if it will continue to “double down on crazy.” President Donald Trump is referenced as a stabilizing force, particularly in contrast to the chaos the hosts associate with progressive policies. They highlight the effectiveness of Trump-era immigration enforcement, with praise for figures like Tom Homan and Stephen Miller, and criticize sanctuary city policies that undermine federal law enforcement. The hour concludes with a broader cultural critique, linking the rise of socialism to generational entitlement and a rejection of meritocracy. The hosts argue that capitalism’s success has ironically enabled the luxury of anti-capitalist sentiment, particularly among younger, affluent urban voters. Do You Buy This Story? Jamaal Bowman's questionable story about being yelled at by a white dude in Yonkers, NY. Media bias and the decline of CNN’s credibility. Jake Tapper lectures us on the purpose of journalism. Clay and Buck point out that CNN has become a partisan outlet, losing its former status as a trusted news source. They discuss whether the network is salvageable and propose that only a radical overhaul—possibly led by a figure like Megyn Kelly—could restore its relevance. The show also explores internal divisions within the Democratic Party, sparked by Chris Cuomo’s criticism of the party’s far-left wing, including figures like AOC and Bernie Sanders. The hosts argue that the Democratic Party is increasingly dominated by anti-capitalist, radical progressive ideologies, which they claim alienate moderate voters and threaten national unity. Further discussion includes the media’s treatment of conservatives, the legacy of Trumpism, and the broad coalition President Trump has built, including former Democrats like Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. The hosts highlight how Trump’s second term is marked by a more strategic and media-savvy administration. It's Thursday and David Waldman and Greg Dworkin are back to KITM and itching to analyze! You don't mess with the Zohran! “Ranked choice” voting defeats “hold your nose and just” voting. You got to hope it's the beginning of the end of the political consultant era, but good luck with that. When Dems discover they can be elected by listening to constituents DC will become a ghost town. And if you think that Democrats are terrified of Zohran Mamdani, you should see Republicans! Donald K. Trump fears Zohran almost as much as he does AOC. Ted Cruz and Stephen Miller hate Mamdani almost as much as people hate Ted Cruz and Stephen Miller.  Libertarians don't want Zohran, but always figure that fewer of anybody means more for them anyhow. About the only people who like Zohran Mamdani are the majority of New York City, who especially like it when things work and don't cost too much. Muslim youths love Mamdani and talked Muslim olds into voting for him. Not enough Black youths talked to the Black olds. Generally, the Democratic party needs more youths and fewer olds. Kari Lake's dream of Trump becoming the Marion Jones of Nobel prizes has been obliterated. Only 38% of Americans support Trump's Iran War, so instead Pete Kegsbreath has declared war on Jennifer Griffin, and Trump has declared war on Natasha Bertrand. The next lady on the White House bombing list is Elizabeth MacDonough, Senate Parliamentarian, who has compiled a big beautiful list of Byrd rule violations in the Gop budget bill.

This week on CounterSpin: We've always heard that racists hate quotas, yet Stephen Miller's “3000 a day, however which way” mandate is terrorizing immigrant communities — brown immigrant communities — around the country. The response from people of conscience can look many ways: linking arms around people in danger, absolutely; vigorously disputing misinformation about immigrants, whether hateful or patronizing, also. But another piece is gaining a deeper, broader understanding of migration. News media could help answer one implied question — “Why is anyone trying to come to the U.S. anyway?” — by grappling with the role of conditions the U.S. has largely created in the places people are driven from. We talk about that largely missing piece from elite media's immigration coverage with Michael Galant, senior research and outreach associate at the Center for Economic and Policy Research. Anyone who pays attention and cares can see that the Trump budget bill is a brazen transfer of resources from those that are trying to meet basic needs to those that can't remember how many houses they own. But corporate reporting rarely breaks out economic policy in terms of how it affects different people — especially how it affects communities for whom they show no consistent concern. Economic policy is itself racialized, gendered, regionalized, targeted. Humanistic journalism would help us see that. LaToya Parker is a senior researcher at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and co-author, with Joint Center president Dedrick Asante-Muhammad, of the recent piece “This Federal Budget Will Be a Disaster for Black Workers.”   The post Michael Galant on Sanctions and Immigration / LaToya Parker on Budget's Racial Impacts appeared first on KPFA.

SEASON 3 EPISODE 139: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: So we're going to do that whole Iraq crap again. Only swapping out the last letter. "Iran" instead of "Iraq." Because nobody remembers Bush and people think Trump is somehow anti-war, when he's doing all this because of his desperate FOMO that there is something somewhere on Fox News that he is not being given personal credit for. Only he's skipping the whole phony terrorism-9/11-pancake uranium-manufactured evidence dance and just saying "we're doing it to save Israel" even though the evangelicals who WANT to "save" Israel like Mike Huckabee really want just to make sure nobody but them destroys Israel, since the end of their prophecy is that when there are no Jews anywhere but Israel, there'll be a rapture, and all the Jews will convert or, you know, bye-bye. It's complete delusional snake-handling level religion. And as for the US military, the purpose of war with Iran would be the same as was the purpose of war with Iraq: to HAVE a war in which you can DESTROY B-2 Stealth Bombers and thus increase the Pentagon budget. As Big Jim McBob and Billy Sol Hurok would say: "Blowed 'em up good. Blowed 'em real good!" PLUS: Governor Hochul of New York uses the mot juste about what appears to have been a set-up of NYC Comptroller Brad Lander. ICE swings back towards seizing the people who keep the red states from starving. And those Trump American Phones are made in China. B-Block (32:50) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: CNN/MSNBC screw up the ratio of ICE protest coverage to No Kings protest coverage; Stephen Miller runs Trump but Katie Miller runs Stephen Miller; Karoline Leavitt inexplicably posts a photo of Trump wearing a dunce cap. C-Block (43:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: This week was the 25th anniversary of the day my mother became famous, and loved every moment of it, when she got hit in the face by a baseball thrown by the second baseman of the Yankees - while I was doing the highlights of that game on Fox's national game of the week telecast. This Day in Legal History: JuneteenthOn this day in legal history, June 19, 1865, Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and issued General Order No. 3, announcing that all enslaved people in Texas were free. This day, now known as Juneteenth, marked the effective end of slavery in the United States—coming more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. The delay was due in large part to the limited presence of Union troops in Texas to enforce the proclamation.Granger's announcement informed Texas residents that “all slaves are free,” a declaration that redefined the legal and social landscape of the state and solidified the federal government's authority over the Confederacy's last holdout. While the Emancipation Proclamation had declared freedom for slaves in Confederate states, it did not immediately end slavery everywhere, nor did it provide enforcement mechanisms beyond Union military power. Juneteenth represents the day when emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the Confederacy through legal and military authority. In the years following, Juneteenth became a symbol of African American freedom and resilience, celebrated with community gatherings, education, and reflection. Texas made Juneteenth a state holiday in 1980, the first state to do so. On June 17, 2021, it became a federal holiday when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. The legal significance of Juneteenth lies in its embodiment of both the promise and the delay of justice, highlighting the gap between the law's proclamation and its realization.A conservative legal group, Faculty, Alumni, and Students Opposed to Racial Preferences (FASORP), has sued the Michigan Law Review and its affiliated leadership, claiming that its member selection process illegally favors women, racial minorities, and LGBTQ+ applicants. Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the complaint alleges that personal statements and holistic review metrics are evaluated using race and sex preferences, violating both federal and state anti-discrimination laws. The group contends that conservative students, especially those associated with the Federalist Society, are excluded from review committees due to their presumed opposition to the practice.FASORP is backed by attorney Jonathan Mitchell and America First Legal, led by former Trump official Stephen Miller. The organization has brought similar legal challenges against NYU and Northwestern, and its suit aligns with broader attacks on diversity policies at elite institutions. It seeks an injunction, damages, and court oversight of a revised selection process for the journal, along with a halt to federal funding until changes are made. The group claims violations of Title VI and Title IX, as well as 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981 and 1985, the First and Fourteenth Amendments, and the Equal Protection Clause. The review's five-part selection process—including essays and grades—has no fixed evaluation formula, which FASORP argues opens the door to discriminatory discretion. Judge Judith E. Levy is assigned to the case.Conservative Group Accuses Michigan Law Review of Selection BiasA federal judge in Texas has struck down a Biden administration rule aimed at protecting the privacy of patients seeking abortions and gender-affirming care. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ruled that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) overstepped its authority when it adopted the rule, which barred healthcare providers and insurers from disclosing information about legal abortions to state law enforcement. The decision halts enforcement of the rule nationwide.Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee, argued that HHS lacked explicit congressional approval to implement heightened protections for procedures viewed as politically sensitive. The rule was introduced in 2024 following the Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade, as part of the Biden administration's efforts to defend reproductive healthcare access. The lawsuit was brought by Texas physician Carmen Purl, represented by the conservative Alliance Defending Freedom, which claimed the rule misused privacy laws unrelated to abortion or gender identity. Previously, Kacsmaryk had temporarily blocked enforcement of the rule against Purl, but this week's decision broadens that to all states.HHS has not responded publicly to the ruling, and a separate legal challenge to the same rule remains active in another Texas federal court. The case underscores ongoing tensions between federal privacy regulations and state-level abortion restrictions in the post-Roe legal environment.US judge invalidates Biden rule protecting privacy for abortions | ReutersXlear, a hygiene product company, has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), challenging the agency's authority to require “substantiation” for product claims under its false advertising rules. The suit, filed in federal court in Utah, follows the FTC's recent decision to drop a case it had pursued since 2021, which alleged that Xlear falsely advertised its saline nasal spray as a COVID-19 prevention and treatment product.Xlear argues that the FTC is exceeding its legal mandate by demanding scientific backing for advertising claims, stating that the FTC Act does not explicitly authorize such a requirement. The company's legal team is leaning on the 2024 Supreme Court ruling in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, which limited the deference courts must give to federal agencies when interpreting statutes—a significant departure from the longstanding Chevron doctrine. The company seeks a court ruling that merely making claims without substantiation does not violate FTC rules. Xlear has also criticized the agency for engaging in what it calls “vexatious litigation,” claiming it spent over $3 million defending itself before the FTC abandoned its lawsuit without explanation. The FTC has not yet commented or made a court appearance in this new case. The challenge could set important precedent on the scope of agency power over advertising standards in the wake of the Supreme Court's shift on judicial deference.Lawsuit challenges FTC authority over 'unsubstantiated' advertising claims | ReutersA federal judge in Rhode Island signaled skepticism toward the Trump administration's attempt to tie federal transportation funding to state cooperation with immigration enforcement. During a hearing, Chief U.S. District Judge John McConnell questioned whether U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy had legal authority to impose immigration-related conditions on grants meant for infrastructure projects. McConnell, an Obama appointee, challenged the relevance of immigration enforcement to the Transportation Department's mission, drawing a parallel to whether the department could also withhold funds based on abortion laws. The case involves 20 Democratic-led states opposing the April 24 directive, which conditions billions in infrastructure grants on compliance with federal immigration law, including cooperation with ICE. The states argue the requirement is unconstitutional, vague, and attempts to coerce state governments into enforcing federal immigration policy without clear legislative authorization.Justice Department lawyers defended the policy as aligned with national safety concerns, but struggled under McConnell's probing. He noted that the administration's broad language and public stance on sanctuary jurisdictions could not be ignored and appeared to support the states' argument that the directive lacks clarity and statutory grounding. The judge is expected to issue a ruling by Friday, before the states' grant application deadline. This lawsuit is part of a broader legal and political battle as Trump pushes sanctuary cities and states to aid in mass deportations.US judge skeptical of Trump plan tying states' transportation funds to immigration | Reuters This is a public episode. Economy https://twitter.com/StephenM/status/1935171750033244244   The Trump Economic Reality Check: What the First Six Months Really Tell Us A notable improvement in job creation is that, since January, all job gains have gone to native-born Americans, reversing the Biden-era trend where foreign-born workers captured a disproportionate share. Under Biden, foreign-born employment rose by 20%, compared to just 3.5% for native-born workers. In contrast, Trump-era data shows that over 500,000 new jobs through May 2025 went exclusively to native-born Americans. Real wages are also improving. Real average hourly earnings rose 1.2 percent from February 2024 to February 2025, and 1.4 percent from March to March. Wage growth has outpaced inflation each month, giving workers increased purchasing power. Tariff revenue has soared. In April, customs duties reached $16.3 billion, almost double March's $8.75 billion and more than double April 2024's $7.1 billion. By May, revenue surged to around $23 billion. From October 2024 through April 2025, total collections hit $59.2 billion, well above the $44.1 billion over the same period in FY2024. Analysts estimate 2025 tariffs could generate $2.7 trillion over 10 years if maintained, though offset by an estimated $394 billion in negative economic impact. Trump's tariff policy has sparked a wave of manufacturing announcements. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company committed $100 billion for five U.S. plants. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard warned of a “nuclear holocaust” and chastised “warmongers” for bringing the world “closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before” in a foreboding video posted to social media on Tuesday. In the three-minute video, Gabbard details a recent visit to Hiroshima, Japan to learn more about the aftermath of the U.S. nuclear attack on the city in 1945 during World War II. The video features footage of Gabbard's trip and archival footage showing victims, interspersed with Gabbard speaking directly to camera about the consequences of a nuclear attack. Guest host Aaron Maté discusses the curious response from prominent neoconservatives who seem to feel that warning Americans about the dangers of nuclear war is a bad thing. Plus segments on White House advisor Stephen Miller's role in the ongoing ICE raids, Donald Trump calling for Gavin Newsom's arrest and Rand Paul badmouthing Trump's military parade through Washington DC. Stephen Miller had a shouting match Thursday with a GOP Senator over Miller's demand for massive funds for deportations, which Republicans are debating right now. Yet at around the same time, President Donald Trump openly admitted that his deportations are badly hurting farmers by removing their workers—and described those undocumented workers as “impossible to replace.” Miller is demanding supercharged deportation numbers on the grounds that migrants are criminals and/or displace U.S. workers, but Trump admitted Miller's deportation agenda is targeting good, hard-working people who aren't taking jobs from Americans and that their removal hurts the economy. This—along with the shocking manhandling of Democratic Senator Alex Padilla by Homeland Security goons and the backlash to Trump's dispatching of troops to Los Angeles—suggests the MAGA coalition is coming under serious strains on immigration. We talked about all this with Tori Gavito, the president of Way To Win, who also discusses the group's new polling showing Democrats have an opening to go on offense on the issue. SEASON 3 EPISODE 136: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Gavin Newsom has reached his "EFF IT" moment - and it might prove to be the moment we began to save the democracy. If you MISSED Newsom’s speech (and trust me, I did, its only failure was its rollout) I am going to play the whole thing at the end of the first segment because it was that good. Eight minutes of escalating but suppressed righteous indignation bordering on rage – eight minutes building towards Eff-It - of which I think I am still the Official Exclusive East Coast Distributor. I think I KNOW my eight-minute suppressed righteous indignation speeches and this was outstanding. Newsom alone has realized that all you have to do is stop playing Trump's version of this game, and introduce him to a NEW version in which the Mike Tyson Law applies - and he will have no chance. And Mike Tyson’s law – is that everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.” As you listen to the speech, my connoisseur’s advice is to listen to the slow burn and the rapidly decreasing time between each metaphorical shot Newsom takes. It’s not just the FIRST grown-up speech responding to Trump’s evil. It’s a really good one. And it ends with… Trump getting metaphorically punched in the face. But consider the larger context. Newsom’s emergence – this is a stupid analogy but it somehow works – was like a caterpillar emerging as a gigantic butterfly, a butterfly equipped with nukes, a stealth bomber butterfly – and THAT was last Friday with his threat to crash Trump by withholding all of California’s federal taxes, all 692 billion of it – THE economic civil war game-ender I have been advocating out here in the wilderness for a decade. Then he says “wait, I’m not finished yet” and he goes back inside the cocoon for a minute and comes out even LARGER with MORE nukes and now he is THE Resistance, THE Democratic Party, and THE hope to save America. A week ago Gavin Newsom was posting a podcast with quote “Doctor” Phil McGraw, who did a ride along with ICE raiders. June 4: glad-hand interview that utter fraud Phil McGraw AFTER glad-hand interviewing Newt Gingrich, Michael Savage, Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon. June 6: respond to Trump’s threats to kneecap California by threatening to lead a TAX STRIKE – the most liberal, progressive, in-your-face political protest proposed this century. June 7-8-9: come back and TOP that with calling the bluff of these Halloween Mask bullies like Trump and Tom Homan. June 10: give this speech. So, now the question is: Why haven’t any other Democratic so-called leaders followed Newsom over the top into no-man’s land even though he went first and discovered there are 100 to 200 million Americans just standing there waiting for somebody to lead them against Trump? B-Block (38:22) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Senator Kevin Cramer, who has never held a real job in his life (an entire career as a politician or failed political candidate) doesn't see the need for ANY federal minimum wage. Tulsi Gabbard thinks the "elites" have underground bunkers in which they can survive nuclear war. And Terry Moran got fired for an analytical opinion about Stephen Miller, but Jake Tapper can retweet Jonah Goldberg's opinion retweeting Fox's opinion retweeting Fetterman's opinion about how much the Democrats are hated. Fire. Tapper. Now. C-Block (50:00) IN MEMORY OF MINET GERMAIN OLBERMANN: Tuesday was World Pet Memorial Day and yesterday was the third anniversary of his gotcha day, so please let me tell you about my late rescue Minet. He arrived here a month shy of his 15th birthday with no expectations and very little awareness of the world around him. And then a little dental care and a little attention and the next thing I knew he was literally jumping for joy on the streets of New York. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.politix.fmSince last week's episode, Donald Trump and Elon Musk had a bitter falling out, Republicans encountered new obstacles to enacting their top priorities (cutting rich people's taxes and poor people's Medicaid) and Trump ordered a federal siege of Los Angeles. Also, Brian got his first taste of sweet, sweet European health care. What do these things have to do with one another? Arguably not much, arguably quite a lot. If safety nets weren't valuable and important, Republicans wouldn't be lying about the contents of their budget reconciliation bill. And if their reconciliation bill was wise, popular, and on the glide path to passage, Trump (really, Stephen Miller) wouldn't be trying to whip up a violent pretext to squeeze Republicans on Capitol Hill into voting for a reckless, terrible bill. But siccing federal troops on American citizens is a big deal, whether it's intended as a diversion or an inducement or not. Should Democratic leaders have seen it coming? Should they have been more prepared? Are there ways for them to increase public awareness of the looming decimation of Medicaid without falling back on the trope that everything else is a “distraction?” All that, plus the full Politix archive are available to paid subscribers—just upgrade your subscription and pipe full episodes directly to your favorite podcast app via your own private feed.Further reading:* Brian argues Democrats overweighted the importance of “issue salience” and it left them unprepared to wage unavoidable political battles with Trump.* Matt argues that if progressives understood FDR's legacy more accurately, they would be more tolerant of Democratic efforts to widen the party's appeal.* No Kings protests across the country on Saturday.

SEASON 3 EPISODE 134: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Call this what it is. This is Trump's terrorist attack on Los Angeles - and his terrorist threat against every other American city not yet infected with MAGA fascism disease. It is taking what even the paranoid L.A. police department considers a minor event and trying to manufacture a crisis worthy of burning down our constitutional rights and sending National Guard and perhaps Marines to shoot at civilians on the streets of an American city... and to warn every other city that it could be next. What else do you call it, when the fiendish, demented, Hispanic-hating advisor and bigot calls all this quote “an insurrection against the laws and sovereignty of the United States” when it is in fact a handful of people exercising their protected constitutional rights in the parking lot of a goddamned Home Depot? It is terrorism. It is designed to cause terror and panic and to either use violence or the threat of it to effect political change, extra-legally, by masked and helmeted, faceless men and women, with weapons of war, on the streets of America’s second largest city, to stage an ICE riot and then show what are literally seconds of self-defense by civilians again and again on what are nominally television news channels subverted and perverted into propaganda machines… to warn with unstated menace that THIS will be re-enacted every day for the next month in Southern California and then - where? New York? Chicago? Washington YET there IS a way to stop Trump, here, and to destroy his plans and perhaps his presidency. Right now. Governor Gavin Newsom and the state government of California have proposed leading what is in effect, a TAX STRIKE. "We pay over 80 billion dollars more in taxes than we get back. Maybe it’s time to cut that off," Newsom says. says State Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas is more specific: “We must look at every option, including withholding federal taxes.” California pays $692 Billion a year in federal taxes. If the blue states withheld federal taxes the red states would be figuratively starving by next week. DOGE THIS, Trump. Do it. Stop the dictatorship. Stop the terrorism. B-Block (35:40) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Dinesh D'Souza and "Buck Millions" hilariously can't process the Musk-Trump fight. There's reportedly something amiss with the book sale figures for the Jake Tapper tome. And last month, New York mayoralty candidate Jessica Ramos branded fellow contender Andrew Cuomo as "The Democrats' Trump." Now - she's endorsed him. C-Block (45:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: I saw a video of one of "our" newscasts the other day. He was the stentorian-voiced anchorman. I was the 19-year old intern. He remains one of my favorite people I've ever met in the business, and not just because he dedicated himself to being a thorn in the side of management everywhere. Stephen Miller is a familiar face on the Enemies List, but over the weekend, the stakes ramped up to a million. He isn't just a policy advisor—he's the mastermind behind the deliberately cruel strategy to provoke unrest and justify state violence. This incursion into the streets of Los Angeles with the ICE raids isn't LIKE a Nazi tacting. It IS on: provoke resistance, claim victimhood, then strike harder. It's not about law enforcement—it's about staging a spectacle of repression that delights the authoritarian base and erodes democratic norms. If that's not scary enough, the suspension of ABC's Terry Moran under political pressure is proof that our media is buckling under this pressure. When cruelty becomes policy and dissent becomes criminalized, the danger isn't just to immigrants—it's to everyone. In other words...you're next. Learn more about your ad choices.
