Tell Me a Scary StoryTonight's episode is Issue #5 of 667: Children of the Beast**Side not. In the beginning of these stories there is always a quote of some sort that pertains to the story line itself. In this one, I used a quote from JK Rowling. At the time, it wasn't known that she was such a TERF and despite who she is as a person, the quote itself still stands and so I kept it for this issue that I wrote. The story of the Amityville Horror is multi-faceted. Not only was it turned into a book and several movies, but it is one of the most famous cases that the paranormal research due, Ed and Lorraine Warren, ever covered. Most of you have probably read the book, or at least seen the movie or one of its many remakes and sequels, but this version is usually presented as fiction, a fantastical horror story that could potentially scare the shit out of everyone, but the fiction is actually based on a true story, at least at its core. It all started with the actions of Ronnie DeFeo Jr.Psychic Lorraine Warren talks about the real Amityville Horror!Welcome to AutumndaleThe A.R.C. Orientation IndieGogoAuthor E.M. This was a bonus Halloween episode that was originally for my Patreon when it was up and running and since I switched to BuyMeaCoffee, I figured I would share it with all of you. Let's get cozy and listen to me read a few stories from the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark anthology, a few from Edgar Allen Poe, and a short story of my own that was also featured in my Yule episode. I'd say let's take a little trip to the Bermuda Triangle, but considering its history, I think that's a bad idea. Instead, we're just going to look into its history from afar, from the safety of the Archives and the comfort of your own home. If you've never heard about the mysterious circumstances that surround the folklore about the area, I don't know what sort of rock you've been living under. Even at the mention of certain famous names throughout history, the Devil's Triangle comes to mind.Author E.M. What may have felt like the worst and, simultaneously, the longest year that a lot of us lived through, is finally over. It's 2021. But just because the Earth made another complete orbit around the sun and the number changed on the calendar, doesn't mean that the shit we went through this past year just disappears and all the crap that came with it goes the way of the dodo…but things really aren't going to change any time soon. Join me in the Archives as I talk about all conspiracy theories from the last four years that have converged into the insanity that was 2020.There's a content warning at the beginning of this episode! For most of us, the Christmas season is a time of joy, giving, family, and the birth of Jesus Christ. There's millions of twinkling lights, gaudy holiday bobbles, ornament loaded fir trees, and lots of Christmas goodies to snack on. It's also full of stories and folklore that are nothing but myth and legend to some who observe the holiday in a more Christian fashion (though their iconography is mostly pagan). But what about the origins of Christmas? Before the times of monotheistic religions and Christian Christmas tales? Before we put the Christ in Christmas, most referred to this holiday season as the Winter Solstice or Yule. For those that celebrated at the time, it wasn't about shiny wrapping paper, Black Friday sales, or how much you spent on gifts…it was about surviving the hardest time of the year, the part of the cycle where we emphasized survival over anything as we waited for the sun to return. Tonight's trip takes us into the city that really never sleeps. No matter what you call it, NOLA, the Crescent City, the Big Easy…we all know about the secrets and legends that New Orleans holds. It's a city full of diversity, vast cultural experiences, and a lurid history that takes us back almost to our beginnings as a nation. The city is known for its lavish parades during Mardi Gras and its countless Voodoo shops and ghost tours, its creole and Cajun ancestry, the food and the music. Just going to the city is an experience itself, but all of that is surface level beauty that houses a dark past: a history of murder, strong magics, vampires, and plenty of spirits to haunt the city and beyond.
