This is a lesser-known, short eerie legend of Ketell, as found on Chronicon Anglicanum by Radulphi de Coggeshall. You might recognize the chronicle's name because it's the same one where the story of the Green Children of Woolpit appears.In this story, an innocent teenager that works the fields has an encounter with small demons that are planning to scare everybody in town. He soon realizes that he's the only one that can see demons and decides to keep the secret for himself. This story reached Radulphi's ears and he documented in the book as a true account. This week on the podcast, I brought on my favorite guest of all time: my mom. I wanted to sit down with her and dig into some of the wildest stories from my childhood, the ones I've never really told on this show before, starting with the night a demon-possessed teenager showed up at our home group and my parents accidentally launched a deliverance ministry that would define our family for years. My mom walks me through it in her own words, along with the story of Tracy Evans, a missionary who survived being shot at, shipwrecked, and hunted in the Philippines, and who later brought a young woman, the spiritual daughter of Anton LaVey, to live in our house.From there we get into some of the most intense moments of my upbringing: a manifestation that turned violent and sent my mom running for her life, my sister Jamie's terrifying medical crisis when she started having seizures as a kid, and the time my two older sisters, ages 12 and 14, were sent to smuggle Bibles into Communist China, one of them getting interrogated for hours and the other getting separated from her group in the middle of the night. My mom also opens up about the hardest financial season of their lives, losing their business, owing 1.8 million dollars, and watching God provide through a string of miracles that included a banker forgiving their debt in tears.We close the conversation talking about her Parkinson's diagnosis seven years ago and how she refused to let it define her, choosing instead to go elk hunting at 500 yards, harvest a black bear with a crossbow, and keep showing up for life instead of shrinking back. This episode is really a tribute to her, to her faith, her grit, and the way she and my dad lived out the gospel in real, messy, unglamorous ways long before it was something either of them had figured out. Hello, Im Joe Gonzalez aka Scuba Joe a disabled Navy Seabee who's seen his share of tragedies both on the battle field and off. Tragedies that have not only crushed me, my spirit, complete altered my way of life for the worse. After the 3rd time I couldnt help but ask, why? It truely never dawned on me that this (although accidents that were by my hand) it turned out it was!!! My ego, is what got me here. Yes, that doubled edge sword we all carry. The one that can save us or destroy us. I meet him face to face, while battling my PTSD and sitting with Ayahuasca. A game changer for me. Combined with my Vipassana medication practice I discovered a way to manage the demons in my head better. By embrassing them and too not allowing them to take over. Demons such as rage, depression, anxiety, addiction and revenge. I saw them as really bad roommates in my head, trying to own my space. But, they forget Im the landlord and its my place they are trying to monopolize. Thats not happening. Its a different take on complete on the AA or NA approach of complete abstinence, which I agree some folks do need to compelte remove the demons out. But some folks, like myself, learned they can better manage them this way and use that sharper edge, to build somehting great. TUrning a “mid life crisis” into a" mid life awakening!

One of the most dangerous things we can do is hide our vulnerabilities instead of bringing them into the light. Sometimes the patterns we defend are the very patterns God is trying to expose. Anger. Pride. Fear. Resentment. Justification. We can become so accustomed to unhealthy behavior that we don't even recognize it anymore—especially when it was part of the environment we grew up in. The real question isn't, “Am I better than I used to be?” It's: “Am I representing Christ in the way I respond today?” Don't let pride, fear, or the desire to appear strong keep you from confronting what's happening inside your heart. Pray for God to open your eyes. Ask Him to expose the agreements, wounds, and patterns that you've normalized. Then have the courage to surrender them. True strength isn't pretending you have no weaknesses.
