The Tri-Partisan NC State Podcast hosted by James Henderson
In this edition James Henderson discusses the abrupt end of the season for both teams and the Wolfpack Women’s ACC Title! Clearly it wasn’t how we all expected the seasons to end, but we understand why it was the necessary action to take. While the men’s team wasn’t able to complete the ACC Tournament or find out their NCAA Tournament fate, Wes Moore’s squad ended the drought. Wolfpack fans know what I’m talking about... the drought. For the first time in 28 years, one of the “Big Four” at NC State (football, basketball, women’s basketball, and baseball) is an ACC champion as the Wolfpack Women defeated Florida State in a thriller to win the 2020 ACC Tournament title. What does it mean for the program? How can NC State continue to improve? How would James evaluate the men’s team right now? He answers those questions and more in this edition of the Tri-Partisan NC State Podcast!
In this edition James Henderson discusses the end of the regular season for NC State men’s basketball and this weekend’s ACC Tournament for the Wolfpack Women! Obviously the Duke loss was disappointing for the men’s team, but there is a lot left to play for, and that starts on Friday night against Wake Forest in PNC Arena. The Pack is still in a battle to make the NCAA Tournament, but ACC Tournament seeding is on the line, as well, which would impact who the Pack could potentially face for another Q1 victory opportunity. Wes Moore’s squad is already seeded in the ACC Tournament, earning the No. 2 seed with an opening matchup against Georgia Tech or Pittsburgh slated for Friday night. While State struggled down the stretch, this team is certainly capable of winning the ACC Tournament, but it won’t be easy. The Pack may have to face Georgia Tech, Duke, and Louisville to do so... three of the four teams who defeated the Wolfpack this season. This is a huge week for both teams, and that is why they are the focus of the Tri-Partisan NC State Podcast!
In this edition James Henderson talks NC State hoops and Wolfpack football! James begins this episode by talking about the recent two games played by NC State’s men’s team. Both losses, to Florida State and North Carolina respectively, but two completely different takeaways. While the Seminoles are extremely good, North Carolina had been struggling. It’s rare that a loss in Chapel Hill is considered a bad loss, but it is this year. The Wolfpack women bounced back from losses in three of its last four games to win Thursday night against Syracuse. However, should Wolfpack fans believe things are back to the norm? Nope, not at all. NC State’s in a serious funk right now and Wes Moore and the players have to figure it out of this team is going to reach the goals set prior to the season. Finally, James talks in-depth about Wolfpack football and the start of spring practice. Why could the first workout have been closed to the media? What can we expect at quarterback? What about the defense? James answers those questions and much more!
James begins this episode by talking about the recent two games played by NC State’s men’s team. Obviously the loss at Boston College was disappointing, but the Pack rebounded in a major way on Wednesday by thumping No. 6 Duke 88-66 in PNC Arena. NC State was clearly the superior team that night in pretty much all phases. The mood isn’t the same right now for the women’s team, who is looking to rebound from back-to-back losses to Louisville and Georgia Tech. Can Wes Moore’s squad go on the road and win at Miami? James believes they certainly should, and the Pack better if they are going to remain in the hunt for an ACC title. Finally, James talks in-depth about Wolfpack football with spring practice just a week away. The team made coaches available to the media on Thursday, and it’s clear the staff is excited about working with the young talent remaining on the roster. This is a big, big year for Dave Doeren and his staff, and they should be optimistic – mainly due to that young talent.
James begins this episode by talking about the recent two-game winning streak of Kevin Keatts’ team. NC State was reeling before going on the road and winning at Miami and Syracuse, and the victories moved the Pack up to No. 5 in the ACC standings. Sunday’s matchup with Boston College is huge. Can State get to 8-6 in league play with huge contests against Duke and Florida State looming? James also shares his thoughts on Thursday night’s game against Louisville for Wes Moore and No. 4 NC State. Is this the biggest regular season game for a NC State team in recent memory? The Pack has a chance to almost lock up the ACC regular season title with a win. This is a big, big game for the Wolfpack! Why? Listen to the podcast and find out!

James begins this episode by talking in-depth about NC State’s rough three-day stretch. The Pack headed to Georgia Tech on Friday at 5-3 in ACC play and by Tuesday, State was 5-5 with plenty of questions. Both were close losses to the Yellow Jackets and rival North Carolina, but that’s moot. NC State could have won both games and probably should have. So what happened? James shares his thoughts on each loss and discusses the team moving forward with a huge game against Louisville looming. Finally, James looks at the Wolfpack Women who continue rolling right along. Wes Moore’s squad has won five straight games by a combined 24 points per game, including Sunday’s big win over North Carolina. This team has a great chance at winning the ACC this year, but the future is also bright, which James also discusses.
In this edition James Henderson talks hoops, and just Wolfpack hoops! James begins this episode by talking in-depth about the job Wes Moore has done with NC State’s women’s basketball program. Moore’s team is ranked No. 8 in the country and fresh off a dominant road win at Pittsburgh. Who is next? North Carolina on Sunday in Reynolds Coliseum... a revenge game for the Wolfpack. Finally, he discusses Kevin Keatts’ program, which has now strung together three straight wins and is tied for fourth in the ACC. However, the next stretch of games could determine the Wolfpack’s fate in league play. Why? Listen to the podcast and find out!
James begins this episode by looking back at the Wolfpack’s win over Miami, specifically the impact of getting C.J. Bryce back in the rotation. The focus of Henderson’s weekly Tri-Partisan column, Bryce is a difference maker, offensively and defensively. Going forward, how will NC State now fare heading into the stretch of ACC play? Why is D.J. Funderburk a critical piece for the Pack? James answers those staff questions and much more. He also discusses Wolfpack football and the potential losses of Nick McCloud and Jeffrey Gunter. Both players were projected to be starters in 2020, so why leave? Well, there are reasons for both and NC State should have enough depth moving forward, but that doesn’t mean the losses aren’t big.
In this edition James Henderson talks hoops, and just hoops. The ACC season is underway for men’s and women’s basketball at NC State, and that is the focus this week. Finally, he discusses Kevin Keatts’ program, which is coming off a road loss at Clemson. Notre Dame is up next followed by a road game at Virginia Tech, and this is a pivotal week with the Pack just 1-2 in ACC play. How can this team rebound and get back on the right track? Listen to the podcast and find out!

Finally, he discusses Wolfpack hoops with the conference schedule now really about to start. At 10-3, NC State has an opportunity to pick up a good road win at Clemson on Saturday. Why is that game so big for the Pack? Listen to the podcast and find out!

Why is it a depth class? James answers those questions and much more. Finally, he discusses Wolfpack hoops and the recent road loss at No. 12 Auburn. NC State had a chance to win but couldn’t make enough plays down the stretch to pull it out? Should Wolfpack fans be concerned? James doesn’t think so.
James begins this episode by looking back at NC State’s decision to hire Tony Gibson as the new defensive coordinator. Experienced and the architect of the Wolfpack’s 3-3-5 scheme, Gibson will now get a chance to call the plays. He also takes a quick look back at the Wolfpack’s big wins over Wisconsin and Wake Forest. NC State needed to have a good week on the hardwood and those two wins were big. The Tigers are the best team in the ACC and with NC State's issues this will be a tough test for the Pack. Finally, James looks back at the ACC hoops opener against Georgia Tech.
