All right college sports fans, it's time to profile QB Kharim Hughley, an early commit for Clemson football's 2027 recruiting class. It's a big early win for Tigers offensive coordinator Chad Morris and quarterbacks coach Tajh Boyd, as well as of course head coach Dabo Swinney. Hughley measures up at 6-0, 205 pounds, and is a 4-star prospect out of Gainesville, Ga. (which should sound familiar to Tigers fans). He is committed to join Clemson before the 2027 season, when current QB Christopher Vizzina will be a senior and Tait Reynolds will enter his second season on campus. We've got analysis of Hughley's game, his importance in the program, the impact he can have on this recruiting class for Swinney, and much more. #clemsonrecruiting #clemsonfootball #daboswinney #footballrecruiting #KharimHughley We're glad you found us -- y'all be sure to share your reactions in the comments (keep it family-friendly for the young fans), and find us on social media @ClemsonKickoff!

It's a bridge episode, but we still got business to handle. Sparty MSU breaks down the six recruits Pat pulled in over the last two weeks — linebackers, corners, a big tight end, and a D-lineman with serious upside. We talk about what the size-first philosophy says about where this program is headed and whether the receiver room is a real concern heading into the season. Then we get into the real stuff — the Big Ten and SEC are going to war with Congress over the Protect College Sports Act, and we've got thoughts on why a collective bargaining agreement is the only real answer. Plus, the NCAA's new age-based eligibility model is heading to a vote this month, and we break down what it means for the future of the game. And of course — Kevin G watch is officially in effect. As of tonight, he has not signed with Clemson. The door is still open. We talk about what he's done right, what he hasn't, and who could step in if it comes to that. Garlington, a Nelson High School wide receiver, earned an Oregon offer after a strong camp performance before briefly committing to Washington State and later flipping to the Ducks.Reyna, a massive 6-foot-8 defensive line prospect from Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, had long been viewed as an Oregon lean before making his commitment official.

In this episode of Hit The Books, Brad Powers and Joey Knish dive into one of the most debated topics in all of college football right now: which head coaches are actually being overrated by the market, the media, and fan perception. The conversation gets heated quickly as they break down the gap between reputation and real results across the sport. Mario Cristobal at Miami comes under the microscope, with discussion around elite recruiting versus actual on-field execution and whether the results truly match the hype. Dabo Swinney's Clemson tenure is also heavily debated, especially as questions continue to grow around whether the program has adapted enough to modern college football after recent down years. The guys also take aim at Lincoln Riley and whether his offensive brilliance is being overshadowed by deeper program-building concerns at USC, especially after expectations shifted following his arrival. Coach Prime and Colorado are brought into the mix as well, focusing on whether early momentum can realistically be sustained in the new transfer portal era or if regression is coming. From there, the debate escalates into some of the biggest names in the sport. Steve Sarkisian at Texas is questioned in terms of win consistency versus roster talent and program investment, while Kirby Smart at Georgia sparks one of the most controversial takes of the episode, with Brad and Joey challenging whether results fully match the national perception of dominance in today's college football landscape.
Clemson's recruiting heater continues with another wave of commitments, while Swanny discusses Dabo Swinney's standing in college football, the future of Clemson's quarterback room, the CFP schedule, and the start of the Stanley Cup Final.
Swanny recaps a chaotic opening weekend of NCAA Tournament baseball, discusses Clemson's recruiting surge and transfer portal news, and talks SEC dominance, ACC disappointment, and Victor Wembanyama's rise with William Qualkinbush.
The Wisconsin Badgers score a major recruiting win by flipping Mekhi Williams from Florida State, while powerhouse programs like Clemson, Indiana, and Oregon battle for top prospects amid shifting NIL dynamics. Can Indiana break through with a top-tier class, or will their transfer portal strategy hold them back despite national championship glory? Brian Smith spotlights standout commitments including Bryant Robinson to Clemson and Toa Satele's game-changing potential at Oregon. Key discussion points include Wisconsin's NIL-fueled resurgence, Kentucky's surprising run toward a top 15 class, and the SEC and Big Ten's opposition to Congress's Protect College Sports Act. Recruiting trends, quarterback dominoes, and ranking shifts for blue-chip talents fuel the conversation. Former Alabama national championship quarterback Jake Coker joins Mick Gillispie on Last Call to discuss the changing future of college football, conference realignment, and the growing debate over the College Football Playoff. Could the SEC and Big Ten eventually separate from the NCAA and create their own college football governing structure? If that happens, should the SEC expand by adding major brands like Florida State, Clemson, and Miami? Mick and Jake break down why the SEC and Big Ten continue to hold the most value in college football and what that could mean for the ACC, Big 12, Notre Dame, and the rest of the sport. The guys also dive into the future of the College Football Playoff, including the ongoing debate between a 16-team CFP format and a 24-team playoff. Would expansion help college football, or would it weaken the regular season by allowing too many multi-loss teams into the postseason? Plus, Mick and Jake discuss the end of “cupcake” games, the push for better SEC scheduling, Notre Dame's independent status, ESPN's influence on the playoff, preferred kickoff times, and the latest on Alabama athletics — including Alabama football, Alabama softball's Women's College World Series run, and Alabama baseball hosting St. John's in the Super Regionals. Why Blake Miller Fits the Job The Detroit Lions Podcast zeroed in on the offensive line build after the draft. The focus was Blake Miller stepping into the right tackle spot while Sewell moves to the left side. Miller was described as one of the most experienced linemen in this class, with four years of work and a heavy snap load at Clemson. The book on him is clear: reliable, steady, and ready to play early. There are limits. He plays upright at times, and his athletic profile may cap the ceiling. He is not expected to be flashy or perfect. He is expected to be consistent. Strong enough. Athletic enough. A steady performer on the right side once he settles into the NFL. That level of baseline competence on a rookie deal is valuable. The expectation is capable starter play after some early leeway. Sewell's Switch and the Young Right Side The conversation backed the move of Sewell to the left without much trepidation. Confidence ran high that the transition will hold. A point of debate centered on the right side growing together, with Tate Ratlidge on that side and Miller as a rookie. The group acknowledged bumps are likely early in the year when a second-year player and a rookie share that edge. Coaching and structure are the counter. The Lions can help with tight end alignment to Miller's side and avoid leaving both young players on an island. Continuity across the rest of the line and a smart play caller can shield them as they settle in. Expect some turbulence, then progress. The description of Miller's game even echoed the reliable profile long tied to Taylor Decker at left tackle, a comparison that drew a nod that it worked out well. Petzing's Offense, From a Voice Who Worked With Him The show also touched on new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing. One guest worked in Cleveland when Petzing was there as the tight ends coach and offered a positive read. The takeaway was practical: he helped with understanding the offense and details from the ground up. That perspective matters as the Lions tailor protections and calls to bring the young right side along. Put it together and the roadmap is straightforward. Miller brings dependable snaps. Sewell handles the left. The staff leans on continuity and targeted help to guide the right side. It is a plan built for the NFL grind, and the Detroit Lions Podcast laid out how it can work. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #nfl #drewpetzing #jackcampbell #keithabney #blakemiller #jimmyrolder #derrickmoore #tyrewest #lionsdraft Learn more about your ad choices. Brad Powers and Joey Knish break down the coaches they believe may not survive the year at their current schools, including Bill Belichick at North Carolina, Deion Sanders at Colorado, Dabo Swinney at Clemson, Shane Beamer at South Carolina, Mike Locksley at Maryland and more. The crew debates whether Bill Belichick will still be coaching at North Carolina in 2027, if Deion Sanders missed his chance to leave Colorado, and whether Dabo Swinney can still compete in the modern era of college football. They also discuss which programs are falling behind financially, the toughest jobs in college football, and which coaches are under the most pressure heading into the season. Will Bill Belichick succeed at North Carolina? Can Deion Sanders keep Colorado relevant without Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders? Is Clemson heading toward a major fall under Dabo Swinney? Let us know in the comments which college football coach you think is under the most pressure this season.

In this episode, we introduce a new game called “Bed or Built,” where we take some of college football’s most repeated narratives and decide whether it’s time to put them to bed or if they’re still built to last. With the 2026 season creeping closer, we sort through the stories that have followed programs, coaches and fan bases for years, and ask which ones still make sense in the current version of the sport. We dig into Mario Cristobal and Miami, Matt Rhule’s turnaround reputation, Lane Kiffin’s chaos factor, Ryan Day’s “born on third base” label, Texas A&M’s hard ceiling, Oregon’s late-season hurdle, Clemson’s attempts to adapt, James Franklin’s big-game baggage and the difficulty of following Nick Saban at Alabama. Along the way, we get into the transfer portal, coaching hires, College Football Playoff expectations, roster-building, fan perception and how quickly old narratives can become outdated.
