We started our blog and podcast because we love to talk (obviously), but mostly because we love to listen. We want to document the stories we hear so we can help people feel a little more connected and a little more relatable. If you have a story to share - contact us! We would love to interview you…
Ashley and Mark had been married about a year. Everything was going great. They were thrilled when they found out they were pregnant with their first child! It appeared to be a healthy pregnancy until Ashley began spotting and leaking amniotic fluid. Nothing could have prepared their family for the delivery that would happen after weeks and weeks of bed rest, worry and prayers. Even though Jess is such an avid learner, she thought that her schooling was over with her dramatic introduction to motherhood, but God had other plans for her. With the encouragement of a professor, Jess decided to pursue further education. A difficult delivery with her second child made Jess reconsider her course, but as she continued to pursue it, her education opened doors for her to work for two non-profit organizations, Liahona and Momni (for more information on these organizations, see links below). https://liahonachildren.org/ https://www.momni.com/ Follow us on Instagram @wordvomitthepodcast for updates on Heather and Aubrey's lives, more about those we interview and new episodes. When the doctor's placed Landen on Sydney's chest for the first time, she was disappointed when she didn't feel that instant connection that so many new mothers talk about. Sydney struggled for weeks and then months trying to force herself to experience motherhood the way it was "supposed to be," but she couldn't change the way she was feeling. Like many women out there, Sydney was experiencing Postpartum Depression. It wasn't until she took a vulnerable and brave leap that things truly took a turn for the better.
Joy was two weeks past her due date when her baby finally decided to make his debut. Nothing really went according to their birth plan, but Joy and Scott were just happy to have their little boy here safely....that was, until he started having a difficult time breathing and the hospital they were at wasn't equipped to handle the situation. We loved hearing this story from Scott's perspective. I mean, he is a natural at the whole podcast thing since he hosts his own, check it out: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/extra-guac/id1266324725?mt=2&i=1000414992379
We finally did our first recording across country (AZ, MO, ID)! We take a trip down memory lane as three 18-year-old friends (one of which was our very own Aubrey) head up the snowy mountains for an overnight trip to a cabin. Girl talk, sledding, laughing, hot chocolate... what could possibly go wrong? A fun little getaway takes a terribly painful turn for the worse.
Aubrey is out of town on a Caribbean cruise, so Heather is flying solo. None of the doctor's Emily's husband is seeing seem to have the diagnosis to his unusual symptoms. Emily is desperate for answers. After appointments, research and discussions with family members, Emily discovers what her husband is suffering from herself and the doctors are able to confirm her diagnosis. At the time, Emily is 12 weeks pregnant with their third child and in the thick of everything, one of her daughters is injured. Listen to find out how Emily deals with the many trials her family is faced with.
We finally interview our first guy for the podcast and he shares one of our juiciest stories yet! Justin talks about dating Vickie (name changed for privacy). He gets to know and love her parents and they convince him to go on a trip to Europe with them to propose to their daughter. As soon as Justin proposes, he knows he made the wrong decision.
Ashton thought she had a pretty normal childhood until her parents decided to get a divorce. Slowly, she realized how unhealthy her relationship with her dad was becoming, but it would take a physical fight before she cut off contact with him. Her family's real nightmare began when Ashton's dad kidnapped her younger sister and took her to an island in a foreign country. Would Ashton ever see her sister again? In this recording, Ashton recommends a book called Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No, to Take Control of Your Life by Henry Cloud, John TownsendJ and ohn Sims Townsend.
