RHEFP 2013 #14: Paul Foot, Sean Hughes and Benny Boot - Abattoir. Richard is mildly hungover and grumpy and though he threatens to do 'A Baconface' the show must go on. First up is Paul Foot who talks about Russell Brand, pantomime cows, part of his life flashing before his eyes and the things that he wakes up thinking about that disturb him. Stand-up comes from Benny Boot. And then Sean Hughes chats about his nursing career, his transvestism and his brushes with death and tsunamis. Then the two of them form an amusing double act to take us to a shambolic competition. Most of the shows were like this last year, it's amazing that we've got this far without one this time! Warning! There is an audiophile in the audience.
In episode five Josh Widdicombe makes a mess, Mark Thomas reveals to Christian O'Connell which political party he'd least like to make a donation to and Jason Byrne tells us about being upstaged by Chris Hoy. Plus we've got brilliant stand up from Muffragette Mary Bourke on the best time of day to log on to MumsNet and Benny Boot on when you are at your most vulnerable to monster attacks and The Noise Next Door play us out with a special song for a member of the audience. Entertaining and educational. The very definition of Edutainment! If you have enjoyed this podcast please chip in a few quid to help support our work. Make a donation at amnesty.org.uk/chipin
It's the second Live special, and London-based Australian gagsmith Benny Boot lets us in on his effervescent cartoon-like imagination. We talk about the unusual techniques he employs to create a writing environment, why the true stories of his checkered past don't fly, and how long he can keep an owl impression going...*** This episode suffers from audio issues which do not represent the usual quality of the podcast *** Get ad-free new episodes, bonus content from interviews and much more by joining the Insiders Club at www.comedianscomedian.com/insidersGet tickets for Stu Goldsmith's stand-up tour at www.comedianscomedian.com/tour@comcompod | www.comedianscomedian.comAnd don't forget to join the Comcom Facebook group, which you can do here.
