Welcome back, cortexifans, to our fifth and final season! In this episode, we're chatting with Thomas Gorham, the director of Fool's Paradise, a fantastic venue at the Adelaide Fringe. We're talking about what's new and exciting at this year's event, from family-friendly shows to some more... saucy options. Thomas shares the story behind Fool's Paradise and its growth, as well as the unique experiences you can expect, like All Star Circus and Alixa Revived. We're also getting the lowdown on what it takes to perform in a show like Alixa Revived, where the line between comedy and, ahem, something else is blurred.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Red light therapy is everywhere right now — from skincare devices to sauna rooms to $20 bulbs online. But not all “red light” is created equal. In this episode of Alpha Health and Wellness Radio, I'm breaking down the real science behind:Red LED lightNear-infrared (NIR) lightIncandescent red heat bulbsBecause they are not the same thing — and they do very different things in the body.If you've been wondering whether you need a panel, if a sauna bulb is enough, or which wavelengths actually matter for hormones, skin, recovery, or thyroid health — this episode will clear it up.Red light (630–660 nm)Best for skin, collagen, acne, surface-level healing.Near-infrared (810–880 nm)Penetrates deeper — ideal for joints, muscle recovery, brain health, thyroid, and systemic inflammation.Incandescent red bulbsPrimarily provide heat and circulation benefits — not precise mitochondrial stimulation. If you're going to invest, combining red + near-infrared wavelengths gives you both surface and deep tissue benefits.Red light devices I likeBoncharge (panel and face mask, red light lamp/bulbs code drhalie) Biolight (code drhalie) Fringe (red/blue mask, wraps code drhalie10)Lumebox mini panelHigher Dose blanket My red light protocol

“There's such an incredible need for supporting women in this very intimate way.” - Dr. Genevieve NewtonRed light therapy has become a hot topic in wellness conversations, yet for many clinicians, it still feels unclear where it truly fits. Is it a gimmick, a biohacking trend, or a meaningful therapeutic tool? As practitioners, we have to be careful. Our clients don't need another gadget. We need to understand mechanisms, dosing, safety, and how to integrate a tool into a comprehensive, evidence-informed plan of care. What makes light therapy compelling in women's health is that by supporting mitochondrial function, circulation, collagen synthesis, nerve sensitivity, and tissue regeneration, red and near-infrared light offer a cellular-level intervention that complements the musculoskeletal, hormonal, and nervous system work we're already doing. When used thoughtfully, it can support both short-term symptom relief, like improved lubrication and reduced pain, and longer-term structural changes in tissue integrity and resilience.Today, I'm joined by Liz Frey and Dr. Genevieve Newton of Fringe. At Fringe, they've long championed the healing power of light. Their range of targeted red light therapy products has helped thousands of people address localized pain, inflammation, and skin concerns, and they continue to expand the possibilities of what red and near-infrared light can do. In this episode, Liz, Genevieve, and I explore the science of red, near-infrared, and blue light, how different wavelengths and intensities affect tissue, what research shows for pelvic health conditions and fertility, dosing and contraindications, how to integrate light therapy into your practice, and more.Enjoy the episode, and let's innovate and integrate together!---Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/using-red-light-therapy-and-vibration-therapy-in-perimenopause-and-menopause-with-fringe/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/).Find and follow us @integrativewomenshealth on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@integrativewomenshealth) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/integrativewomenshealth/).
What if you could simply declare yourself immune to the law?No driver's license. No taxes. No court jurisdiction. No government authority over you. That's the promise of the Sovereign Citizen movement that claims modern governments are illegitimate corporations, that courts secretly operate under admiralty law, and that there's a hidden version of you (a corporate “strawman”) being traded on financial markets without your consent. It sounds like satire. But it isn't. Across the United States and beyond, people have attempted to use Sovereign Citizen arguments in courtrooms, traffic stops, foreclosure cases, and even criminal trials. Today, we're unpacking the origins, the mythology, the courtroom chaos, and the very real-world impact of the Sovereign Citizen conspiracy theory. I thought I had it all figured out. I'd driven that route dozens of times. I knew exactly where I was going. I didn't need any help. So I turned off the GPS and relied on my own knowledge and experience. And that's exactly when things went sideways. Sometimes I turned it off too early and ended up heading the wrong direction. Other times I turned it on too late and missed my opportunity to avoid trouble altogether. In both cases, the problem was the same. I thought I knew better. I thought I could handle it on my own. It's a totemic film for Jamie, who has been working on her Katharine Hepburn impression since childhood. But truly, how many times can someone say "You old poop!" with a straight face? Can the truth be both our salvation and our damnation, depending on how desperately we need to escape ourselves? "Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room" follows small-time hood Jackie Rhoades as he confronts his reflection in a mirror that forces him to face his true self and choose between continuing his criminal life or finding redemption. Send a textJoin Cheryl Lee - That Radio Chick on STILL ROCKIN' IT for news, reviews, music and interviews with some of our favourite Australian musiciansWhat happens when a frontman who's lived two decades in Adelaide decides to compress Australian rock history into a one-hour Fringe blowout? We sit down with Dave Gleeson to chart the making of Long Way To The Top, a full-throttle, sing-it-louder celebration packed with anthems from Johnny O'Keefe and the Easybeats to ACDC, Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Killing Heidi, and Baby Animals. The plan: tight medleys, zero fluff, and a setlist designed to keep the crowd moving from the first riff to the final chorus. We get into why a local run changes everything. Instead of flights and 3am hotel check-ins, Dave leans into the luxury of consistency: same stage, same sound, and same room to refine the show night after night at the Fantail in Gluttony. He spotlights Adelaide talent with powerhouse vocalists Zkye and Rachel Vidoni stepping forward, and teases special guests—from Jack Jones to a possible John Brewster cameo—so each performance carries the spark of surprise. Along the way we trade stories that ground the myth: toilet-roof posters, private boxes on FringeTIX, and the joy of a community that knows every word before the first chord lands. There's reverence, not preciousness. We talk Kate Ceberano's Australian Made Tour revival, why stripped-back sets still sell out, and how nostalgia isn't about looking back—it's about singing together right now. Dave's pride in his son James's band sits next to a plea for endangered venues like the Woodshed, a reminder that the posters on the wall matter as much as the players onstage. We close by lifting Support Act, the charity that catches artists and crew when life bites, because a healthy scene needs both volume and a safety net.Grab your tickets, warm up your voice, and meet us down the front. If this hit list fires you up, share the episode with a friend, leave a quick review, and subscribe so you never miss a chorus. What has Dave Gleeson been up to lately? In this fun and insightful episode, we welcome Hilda Labrada Gore, known to many as Holistic Hilda, for an honest and unfiltered conversation about motherhood, health, and what it means to live outside of the conventional health paradigm.Hilda shares her personal journey from relying on mainstream medicine to embracing ancestral, holistic ways of caring for her own body and her family. Along the way, she discovered a powerful sense of purpose that led her to become the host and producer of the Wise Traditions podcast, a show rooted in traditional health wisdom and ancestral living.Whether you're a parent navigating the complexities of modern health advice, someone curious about holistic practices, or simply seeking a richer connection to your innate wisdom as a caretaker, this episode offers encouragement, practical insights, and a reminder that being “on the fringe” sometimes means you're just ahead of the curve.
Heroes have been a part of American pop culture for decades. We've seen them come to life on the pages of comic books and movie screens, and heard them sung about by some of our favorite musical artists. Songs by David Bowie and Foo Fighters are some of my favorites, but I think Mariah Carey's song about heroes is probably the best one to match up with today's story. This episode is from a swapcast I did with the Remnant Warrior where we talked about a myriad of things including a mysterious book called The Hebrew Talisman, new AI Technology and fraudsters in Christian Media who label those who believe as the early church fathers did that Jesus is the only way, as replacement theologians. There's something disarming about simple honesty. When someone messes up and immediately says, "I'm sorry. This was my fault. Here's what happened, and here's how I'm going to make it right," it stops the blame game before it starts. It shifts the conversation from finger-pointing to problem-solving. It builds trust instead of eroding it. The post SILY 685- The Honesty Advantage appeared first on Golden Spiral Media- Entertainment Podcasts, Technology Podcasts & More.
