This weeks guest is Irish comedian Andrew Ryan who, fresh from his run at the edinburgh Fringe, is appearing at the Aberdeen Comedy Festival with his show "Honest Capacity". A native of Cork and now resident in Northern Ireland Andrew is regular on TV and podcasts and also appears on the Golf Bros show on youtube. What does it take to turn a risky new arts festival into one of Rochester's biggest annual events? Rochester Fringe Festival CEO and Producer Erica Fee joins Mark and Corey ahead of the festival's 15th year.They explore how Rochester learned to embrace the unexpected, the role Fringe has played in bringing people downtown and supporting local arts venues, and how Erica searches festivals around the world for performances worth bringing home. Plus, Erica previews Pete Davidson, Circus in the City and some of the most unusual shows on this year's schedule.

Within a few years she completed producing training at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts while advancing toward an MBA at NYU Stern, grounding her practice in both creative production and the business of entertainment. Early credits include stage management and producing at Playwrights Horizons Theater School, followed by competitive internships in development at Rebelle Media and in production and post-production at Bungalow Media + Entertainment. She then served as Project Manager and Creative Executive at Hero Artists and Hero Entertainment, contributing to development, production, and theatrical-release work. Parallel film credits include Unit Production Manager on the independent short Where The Walls Fall Over for The Odyssey Project, as well as production and on-set roles on the shorts The Demon of Parce Manor and Gutter Soup.Her most recent and most visible achievement is producing Awaiting Evaluation, the one-act absurdist comedy written and directed by Alex Grech under Berenson and Grech Productions. The play received its world premiere at the New York Theatre Festival in June 2026 at Teatro LATEA on the Lower East Side, with performances on 22, 24, and 27 June. Immediately afterward it made its European debut at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, running from 5 to 29 August at the Thistle Theatre, Greenside at Riddles Court. That sequence New York festival premiere followed by a full Fringe engagement in the same season marks a clear step from supporting roles on other people's projects to originating and delivering an original stage work across two markets.

Christian Reilly is a British musical comedian who first gained prominence as guitarist and performer with Rich Hall's Otis Lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars, part of the Perrier Award-winning show in 2001, before building a successful solo career that combines stand-up comedy, original songs, and accomplished musicianship. He has performed at major comedy festivals and venues internationally, appeared on BBC radio and television, and has become known for his witty musical satire of rock, pop, and everyday life. I have seen Reilly perform for The Best of The Comedy Store in Manchester in 2011, Mervyn Stutter's Pick of The Fringe at the Edinburgh Festival in 2012 and 2015, The Best of The Comedy Store in London in 2016 and Headliners Christmas Show in London in 2024. It's the last weekend of this year's Edinburgh Fringe and in our time in Edinburgh we've spoken to some of the most interesting new and established artists from around the world. OUTCAST WORLD is live from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe — the biggest arts festival on the planet — meeting some of the queer and queer-adjacent performers bringing their stories to Edinburgh this summer. In this episode, Graeme meets New York performer and musician Joey Jennings, creator of Little Pink Dress — a deeply personal one-man musical about growing up gay, chasing the Hollywood dream, family, addiction, recovery and finding your way back to the person you were before the world started telling you who to be. At the heart of the show is a real little pink dress Joey wore as a six-year-old — sleeping in it, dancing around his room in it and living out an uninhibited childhood love of performance, pop music and dressing up. Years later, it was Joey's mother who suggested that if he was going to tell his story, the dress had to be part of it. Joey talks about spending more than a decade pursuing the “serious actor” life in Los Angeles — and how an industry obsessed with image, masculinity and youth gradually left him feeling increasingly disconnected from himself. He describes auditioning for straight roles, trying to inhabit a more hyper-masculine version of himself and eventually realising that the dream he had chased since childhood was damaging the very part of him that had wanted to perform in the first place. There's also a frank conversation about drinking, getting sober in 2023, therapy, moving from LA to New York and beginning to rebuild his creative life. And then there's his mum. Little Pink Dress is, ultimately, a love letter to the single mother who encouraged the artistic kid she was raising, introduced him to the country and folk music that now runs through the show, and whose voice Joey says has remained in his head telling him to keep going. The result is an unusual collision of country rock, musical theatre, queer identity, childhood memory and autobiography — including a cowboy version of Joey who represents the masculine mask he once believed he needed to wear. They also talk about why Joey stayed away from social media for years, the strange vulnerability of finally releasing songs he had kept private for so long, and what happens when you hand the most personal parts of your life over to an audience. I don't want to speak for John, but as for me, the factory where I work announced they'll be closing the plant sometime within the next year or two. That means while I have a job now, I won't for much longer so I'm actively enrolling in trade school trying to get some certifications that look good on a resume. There's a chance I could get offered a position in Fort Wayne IN but even if I did, my wife and kids don't want to move. Honestly, I don't either as that's too far for me outside of the southeast and it's not like I can count on that. Plus, I'm currently an active serving deacon at my church and while that doesn't typically take up a lot of time, it's one more thing along with working full time, class, and being a dad. I went ahead paused the Patreon last night because I'm not sure when or if we'll be back. Maybe we'll just take a break and come back. Maybe if we come back we'll try to do a YouTube show. Maybe instead, I'll try and help my teenage son launch a YouTube gaming channel. Maybe we'll both just never find our way back. There is just so much uncertainty right now and I don't really know how the next couple of years are going to play out. The only thing I know for certain is it will be much different from the way things are now.We do have at least one episode in raw audio on a hard drive that at some point I want to finish up and release. Also, I'd like to get with John and at least do one more and explain what's going on with us. I really do miss the long conversations with John but I don't miss all the other stuff that goes along with editing and producing a podcast. You can often feel like you're just talking into a black hole and nobody cares, so it's actually reassuring when people reach out. Podcasting 2.0 August 14th 2026 Episode 267 - "Chocolove" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00 - THE SPOTIFY "SKIP AHEAD" BUTTON — THE BIG ONE What it is: Spotify is testing a button that appears on the playback screen the moment it thinks you'd want to skip — an intro, a sponsorship message, or an entire ad break. It is bigger than everything else on screen. One tap drops you at the end of the break, back in the show. Premium subscribers only, selected markets including US and UK, and only when the app is in the foreground. Who broke it: James Cridland at Pod News, 4 August 2026 — an exclusive. Spotify never announced it. Semafor and most of the trade press picked it up afterwards; Cridland noted on air this week that some of them ran it without credit. The number that makes it different from a skip button: Cridland's arithmetic — skipping a typical ad break by hand is nine presses of the 15-second button, plus a correction tap when you overshoot. Skip Ahead is one. "Some people have said, oh, but you've been able to skip for years and this is no different. But a button that only appears when it's stuff that Spotify thinks you should be skipping is a start." It skips other people's money: the button fires on third-party ads — Acast, Odyssey, the New York Times — and on ads inside Spotify's own shows. It even skipped Search Engine's read for its own paid tier, PJ Vogt pitching Incognito Mode. One half of Spotify sells advertisers reach; the other half hands listeners a button to leave. Spotify's answer, and the trapdoor in it: Spotify told Cridland it is "not affecting ad delivery." True only if delivery means to the device. Cridland: "If ad delivery is to the listener's ear, which is actually what people are paying for..." — the download still counts, the ad still gets billed, the human never hears it. Spotify's other defence: the button merely shows where other listeners already skip. Cridland: "I'm not entirely sold on that, but if that's what Spotify say, I mean they wouldn't lie."
