Christa Doran shares how she took the pain of the death of her daughter used it as a catalyst to transform her life.
Christa Doran, owner of Tuff Girl in Hamden Connecticut is a good friend of mine and a true leader! She speaks with passion and conviction, she believes in women speaking up for themselves and taking up space. What makes Christa a leader like few others is her willingness to show her vulnerability and share her struggles. This is something I so very much admire about her and what make her a leader to me.
Leadership. Whether you are the head of a company or just beginning your career journey, you are a leader. We can all learn to be great leaders and we can all find out own leadership personality. In this series I speak with Kari Nagraiff, Geralyn Coppersmith, Alwyn Cosgrove, Kevin Eastman and Christa Doran all about their experience and knowledge about leadership. Each one of them have distinct qualities that I believe makes them wonderful leaders. Whether this means as a business owner, in your own training, as a manager, as a speaker, being an icon in the fitness industry or whatever else we are looking to accomplish, we are all leaders.
Christa Doran is hands down one of the strongest women I know! As the owner of Tuff Girl Fitness in Hamden Connecticut, she has dedicated her mission to helping other women feel and understand their full potential and power through strength of body and mind. A few weeks back, Chirsta and I got into a conversation about the lack of representation in the leadership of the fitness industry. In this podcast we discuss why we think this happens and what we can do to help change this for the future.

I had such a fun time sitting down with these three amazing, strong women! We talked about what it means to create a strong female tribe and how supporting one another only takes us farther and gives us more power. This one gets a bit emotional as we delve in our own experiences and talk about how our lives have been changed, bettered, and inspired by other strong women.
Christa and I discuss get real as we talk about the beginning and growth of her gym, Tuff Girl, body positivity and how to change your inner monologue, how to create a positive and empowering culture, and how we help influence women of all ages to be strong not only physically but in every sense of the word! This one got emotional for both of us and I know lots of other women will be able to relate to a lot of these topics!
Christa and her husband Mike chose to market their business while doing good. Instead of spending their marketing dollars to promote their business, they connected with their network and asked them to Check in for a Cause, so each time members of their gym Tuff Girl Fitness share their gym experience on social media, Christa and Mike donate to a local charity. For their first month, their innovative marketing efforts coupled with their desire to do good, will allow them to present a check to the Hamden Food Bank.
