In this episode of Empowering Women in Real Estate® - The Podcast, I'm joined by Christina Mesones for a conversation about dual career agents and the support they need to succeed. Christina shares her journey from more than 20 years in the title industry to becoming a real estate agent, mentor, and resource for agents who are building their business while also balancing another career. We talk about the stigma dual career agents often face, why "part-time agent" doesn't tell the whole story, and how systems, support, mentorship, and community can make all the difference. If you are a dual career agent, or you've ever felt like you were trying to build your business with limited time and limited support, this episode is for you. What if the language you've been using to help people is actually underselling them? In this solo episode of The Discomfort Zone Podcast, Anna Levesque shares a perspective shift that stopped her in her tracks: after 25 years of building a brand around "empowering women," she's retiring the phrase. Sparked by Emma Grede's book Start With Yourself, Anna explores why the word "empowerment" may inadvertently suggest women need someone else to give them what they already have. This episode isn't about tearing down a movement. It's about getting more honest and more precise about what great coaching, instruction, and community actually do: create the container, hold the space, and trust that the person in front of you already has what it takes. If you've ever questioned the language you use, wrestled with a belief that served you well and then stopped, or wondered what it really means to support someone's growth, this one is for you. In this episode: Why Anna is dropping "women's empowerment" from her brand vocabulary after 25 years The real role of a coach, instructor, or mentor, and why it matters how we frame it What her year-long recovery from a herniated disc taught her about inner strength and being supported How to hold an idea you've outgrown with both honesty and self-compassion Why changing your language is an act of courage, not correction Whether you're a coach, a paddler, or someone mid-shift in how you see your own work, this episode will give you something worth sitting with.
Not 10 pounds from now. Not when you finally look the way you think you should. Right now, exactly as you are — you are enough. In this courageous, tender, and ultimately liberating episode of SoulFire Sisters, Dr. Mary Newstrom and Dawn Morningstar go somewhere most podcasts won't: into the heart of the system that has been quietly stealing women's power for generations. They call it the appearance trap — the relentless, culturally engineered message that a woman's worth is tied to the shape of her body, the age of her face, and the degree to which she meets a standard she never got to choose. And they want to be clear from the start: this is not a beauty episode. This is a spiritual one. Drawing from earth-based wisdom traditions where elder women and their wrinkles are considered sacred, Mary reframes aging as power — not diminishment. Dawn shares one of the most surprising and personal stories of the season: her time working as a Playboy Bunny at 18, how she earned more than her father at the height of her tenure, and what she said — without hesitation — when a manager told her she was getting too wide in the hips. Mary shares the childhood memory that was seared into her from a Sunday in church — a mother's misguided comment about weight that wasn't even accurate — and how it illuminates exactly how early and how arbitrarily the trap is set. Together they explore the insidious cost of the appearance trap: the mental energy, the time, the creative power diverted away from building a vision and toward standing in front of a mirror wondering if we're enough. They offer tools for unhooking — energetic cord-cutting, ancestral healing, reclaiming the inner gaze — and close with one of the most tender and radical invitations of the season. This week's SoulFire Spark: Stand in front of a mirror — just once this week. Instead of looking for what needs to be fixed, say thank you out loud to your body. Your hands, for what they make and hold. Your feet, for carrying you through every day. Your heart, for feeling as deeply as it does. One thing. Out loud. And mean it. You are not your reflection. You are the life living inside it. And that life is worthy — fully, already, as it is. This episode was inspired by a teenage boy Candace keeps seeing on her drive to work — running full speed down the street trying to catch the bus before it turns the corner. Every time she sees him, she wonders the same thing: what if he simply left the house one or two minutes earlier? That tiny adjustment could completely change the energy of his morning. No panic. No sprinting. No racing against time. Just calm, steady movement. And that thought sparked something deeper. How often do we do this in our own lives? Repeating the same stressful patterns while hoping things somehow feel different? Sometimes we think massive change is required, when really it might just be a tiny shift in timing, mindset, habits, boundaries, or perspective. In this episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace talks about the power of small adjustments and how little intentional changes can create completely different outcomes. It's an invitation to audit your life with curiosity instead of judgment and ask yourself: What tiny shift could change everything for me? Because sometimes the difference between chaos and peace… is only two minutes.
In this episode, Teresa sits down with Myah Jenae, founder of Right to Know, a grassroots women's health initiative reaching college campuses across the country. At just 22, Myah is helping young women reclaim an understanding of their bodies through cycle literacy, education, and community. Myah shares her personal story of early puberty, severe period pain, and the frustration of being dismissed by healthcare providers who offered hormonal birth control as the only solution. After years of struggling, she found healing through nutrition—eliminating her pain and transforming not only her physical health, but her emotional well-being. Through her work, Myah has spoken to nearly 1,600 college-aged women in just eight weeks. She's found a striking pattern: the vast majority have felt dismissed or minimized when bringing up concerns about their cycles. Many were made to feel that tracking their cycles was unnecessary or even silly, leading them to disconnect from their bodies. Right to Know exists to change that narrative. The initiative emphasizes both body literacy and identity, helping women understand that painful cycles are not normal and that their bodies are not broken. Myah addresses the deeper “identity lies” many women carry: the belief that suffering is simply part of being female. On campuses, Right to Know sparks conversation in bold and creative ways including signs that read “period cramps aren't normal” and a period cramp simulator that invites men into the conversation. These encounters open the door to deeper discussions about hormone health, fertility awareness, and alternatives to hormonal birth control. But the mission goes beyond symptom relief. Myah explains how healing her cycle unlocked joy, energy, and the ability to connect more deeply with others. What began as physical healing became a profound emotional transformation. At the heart of Right to Know is community. Their “Big Sister” program equips women to walk alongside others with compassion and clarity, creating spaces where women can learn, track, and grow together. Through shared practices like prioritizing sleep, nourishment, and cycle awareness, participants experience both education and support. Myah's message is simple but powerful: the female body is not designed for chronic pain. Instead, symptoms are signals an invitation to look deeper and restore balance. Teresa closes the episode with a call to action: share this message. Whether you're a young woman navigating your own cycle or someone who wishes you had learned this earlier, you have the ability to pass this knowledge on. Change begins with awareness and with the courage to start the conversation. Empowering Women in Real Estate - The Podcast with Karen Cooper
On this episode of Empowering Women in Real Estate® - The Podcast, I'm sharing a very personal reflection as I approach my 53rd birthday. For a long time, I thought success at this stage of life would mean having it all figured out. More confidence. Less pressure. More freedom. More certainty. But what I've learned is that success in midlife often looks very different than what we imagined in our 20s and 30s. In this episode, I'm talking about: burnout and recovery the pressure of social media and constant industry noise achievement vs. fulfillment sustainability in business and life health, boundaries, and authenticity evolving instead of holding on creating freedom intentionally learning to stop trying to please everyone and what success actually means to me now at 53 This is an honest conversation about midlife, growth, and building a business and life that feel as good on the inside as they look on the outside. The job market has dramatically changed — and most people are still playing by the old rules. In this episode, talent acquisition expert and senior leader, Dena Ayala, pulls back the curtain on what's actually happening on both sides of the hiring table. We talk about how AI is reshaping resumes and recruitment, why your personal story is your most underutilized asset, and how women especially can advocate for themselves with more confidence and creativity. Whether you're actively searching or simply future-proofing your career, this one is full of practical moves you can make today! What we cover:
This is your permission slip. Consider it signed, sealed, and delivered. In this luminous, laughter-filled episode of SoulFire Sisters, Dr. Mary Newstrom and Dawn Morningstar make the case — explicitly, joyfully, and without apology — that joy is not a reward you earn after the suffering is done. Joy is not a break from spiritual practice. Joy is spiritual practice. And the sooner we stop treating delight as something frivolous, the sooner we remember what we were actually made for. Drawing from shamanic wisdom, Dawn's 21 days of silent study with enlightened monks in India (who turned out to be hilariously funny), Dr. Sue Morter's teaching that a beautiful life comes down to being loving, joyful, and playful, and the healing science of laughter — this episode is part permission slip, part love letter, and part gentle revolution. They get a little righteous about it too, because they should: the conditioning that keeps women from joy is not accidental. A woman full of her own joy is not available to manage everyone else's discomfort. Which means reclaiming joy isn't just good for you — it's a radical act. Mary reminds us that our spirit guides have a sense of humor. Dawn reminds us that joy is a frequency, not a feeling — something you can cultivate and return to even on the hard days. And together they remind us that chronic seriousness is not depth. It's a stuck frequency. And joy moves stuck energy faster than just about anything else. This week's SoulFire Spark: Do one thing this week purely because it delights you. Blow bubbles. Dance in your kitchen. Call the friend who makes you snort-laugh. Watch a ridiculous movie. And when that voice shows up — the one that says you should be doing something more productive — say this out loud: My joy is my medicine. Because it is. Aggressive driver behaviour, speeding, poor cycling infrastructure and the increased size of vehicles are deterring women from getting on their bikes, research by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has found. Most women in Ireland can cycle and have access to a bike, but are only half as likely as men to choose cycling as a mode of travel, according to the Empowering Women to Cycle report. And all those jibes about women being worried about “helmet hair”? They don't hold up in the research.Half those surveyed said unsafe roads were a barrier to cycling. And then there was the fear of being on the receiving end of verbal abuse from drivers. So what has to change to encourage women to cycle?Irish Times Dublin editor and daily cyclist Olivia Kelly explains.Presented by Bernice Harrison. You don't need a special collection. You don't need to spend a lot of money. You just need a stone, a little curiosity, and a willingness to remember something your ancestors never forgot. In this warm, grounding, and genuinely fascinating episode of SoulFire Sisters, Dr. Mary Newstrom and Dawn Morningstar explore one of humanity's oldest relationships — the one between us and the living earth beneath our feet. Crystals, stones, and earth medicine aren't fringe practices or "woo-woo" novelties. They're ancient technologies that have persisted through every culture and every attempt to dismiss them, for one very simple reason: they work. Drawing from Mary's shamanic and animist worldview — in which everything, including stones, carries consciousness and frequency — and Dawn's personal practice of weaving crystals into her home, her work, and even the making of Radiant Face 18, this episode offers both the why and the how of working with earth medicine. They explore the science hiding in plain sight (your phone runs on quartz crystal — think about that), the difference between a tool and a talisman, and why placing a sacred stone on your desk isn't superstition. It's intentional design of your energetic space. It's power within. They also address the two extremes with characteristic honesty and care: the skeptic who needs proof before feeling, and the believer who thinks a crystal will fix everything. The truth, as always, lives in relationship — the willingness to simply pick up a stone, hold it with curiosity, and begin to notice. This week's SoulFire Spark: Go outside, or look around wherever you are. Find one stone — ordinary is perfectly fine — that catches your attention. Hold it. Feel it. Ask it, silently or aloud, what it has to offer you. Then notice. Carry it for a few days. Journal what shifts. You don't need to understand it fully to begin. You just need to be willing to go ancient. That voice inside your head — the one that's been with you your whole life — whose voice is it, really? In this crackle-with-electricity episode of SoulFire Sisters, Dr. Mary Newstrom and Dawn Morningstar venture into the invisible architecture that shapes everything: the stories, spells, and self-curses that were handed to us long before we were old enough to question them. And the radical, liberating truth at the heart of this conversation? Most of what you believe about yourself — what you deserve, what's possible for you, who you are — was never really yours to begin with. Drawing from shamanic wisdom, ancestral healing, and the kind of practical spiritual clarity that actually moves things, Mary and Dawn unpack what a spell really is: words repeated so many times, and absorbed so deeply, that they stop being descriptions and become declarations. You're too sensitive. Women like us don't do things like that. I'm not enough. I'm too much. Said by others first, then handed off to the inner critic to carry forward — becoming load-bearing walls in the architecture of identity. They go further, tracing how these spells travel through generational lineage, how the very calendar we live inside was designed as an instrument of power, and why some of the most binding stories we carry were never about us at all — they were just the pan that was too short for the loaf. And then, with characteristic warmth and no-nonsense shamanic wisdom, they offer a way out: a five-minute fire ceremony ritual — something your nervous system can actually feel — to name the spell, speak it aloud, release it to the elements, and plant one true sentence of a new story in its place. This week's SoulFire Spark: Write down one story that has been binding you. Speak these words out loud: "This was never mine to carry. I release it now. I choose a new story." Then burn it, bury it, dissolve it. Give it back to the earth. And write one sentence — just one — of who you actually are. Your story was never finished. It was just waiting for you to pick up the pen. Alison sits down with Dr. Phyllis Nsiah-Kumi, affectionately known as Doc Kumi, who serves as the chief women's health officer at Bespoke Concierge Medicine. Their conversation delves into the crucial topic of women's health, focusing on the unique challenges faced as women transition through midlife, particularly around the time of menopause. They begin by exploring the differences between traditional medical practices and the personalized approach offered through concierge medicine. Doc Kumi explains that concierge medicine emphasizes tailored care, allowing her to build deeper relationships with patients and cater to their individual health needs. As they delve deeper into women's health, Doc Kumi addresses the significant gaps that exist in traditional approaches to women's healthcare. The conversation highlights how common health issues are often under-researched and poorly understood, with many health studies disproportionately focusing on male subjects.Doc Kumi poignantly shares that menopause is frequently treated as a “black box,” a time shrouded in misinformation and stigma and introduces the concept of the "middle pause," a term she coined to describe not only the physiological changes that occur during this time but also the opportunity it provides women for self-reflection and reinvention.Throughout their dialogue, they touch upon the common symptoms and health concerns women face in their 40s and beyond, such as brain fog, fatigue, musculoskeletal issues, and changes in mood and sleep patterns. Doc Kumi emphasizes that these experiences are not just signs of aging but are related to hormonal changes that can be addressed.Doc Kumi also presents her "middle || pause framework," a structured approach to addressing menopausal symptoms and promoting long-term health. This framework categorizes the various concerns women may encounter into twelve essential areas, ensuring comprehensive care that extends beyond immediate symptoms to include preventive health measures. This holistic perspective prioritizes long-term well-being and aims to equip women with the knowledge and tools they need to manage their health proactively.HIGHLIGHTS:1:36 The Concept of Concierge Medicine2:31 Women's Health Overlooked3:53 Embracing the Middle Pause5:20 Addressing Common Health Concerns10:35 Navigating Health Changes in Midlife13:42 The Middle || Pause Framework19:08 Comprehensive Health Categories20:23 The Importance of Advocacy25:02 Empowering Women to Speak Upconnect with Doc KumiBespoke Concierge: https://www.bespokeconciergemd.com/providers/phyllis-nsiah-kumiDoc-Kumi: https://www.doc-kumi.comSPONSOR:Cellev8Discount code: THEALISONK ALISON'S LINKS:Website | Facebook | Twitter | InstagramGET MY FREE 4 part Pop-up Podcast SeriesJOIN Borderless Hybrid Innovators FB GroupINNOVATION AVENUE: Fitness and Self-Care Revolution
What if the parts of you that you've spent a lifetime hiding are actually the doorway to your greatest power? In this tender, brave, and ultimately liberating episode of SoulFire Sisters, Dr. Mary Newstrom and Dawn Morningstar venture somewhere most of us have been taught to avoid: the shadow. Not the darkness — the wholeness waiting to be integrated. Drawing from Carl Jung's foundational concept of the shadow self, Mary's shamanic wisdom, and Dr. Sue Morter's work on the protective personality, the sisters demystify what the shadow actually is — the anger we were told wasn't ladylike, the ambition we learned to shrink, the grief we swallowed, the light we dimmed because shining felt unsafe. These aren't the worst parts of us. They're the hidden parts of us, and there's a profound difference. They explore the shadow's sneaky ways of showing up — in our triggers, our projections, and in the qualities we admire or resent in others — and why the most irritating person in the room might just be holding up a mirror. They also introduce the concept of the golden shadow: the gifts we've projected onto others because we haven't yet dared to claim them in ourselves. Dawn shares a deeply vulnerable personal story of a time she used alcohol to manage emotions she couldn't yet face — and the healing that came when she finally let herself feel them. Mary reflects on her own lifelong dance with impatience, and the grace she's learned to offer herself when the shadow shows up uninvited. This week's SoulFire Spark: write a letter to one quality you've judged or hidden — and end it with four words that could change everything: I'm ready to know you. Your shadow isn't your enemy. It's the part of you that's still waiting to come home. What if letting go isn't a loss — but the most creative act there is? In this tender and transformative episode of SoulFire Sisters, Dr. Mary Newstrom and Dawn Morningstar explore the sacred, often misunderstood practice of releasing — the old stories, the draining relationships, the version of yourself you've quietly outgrown, the job you've stayed in too long, the wound you've carried so far it started to feel like identity. And they want you to know right from the start: this is not about pretending things didn't matter. It's not about bypassing grief or rushing your healing. Letting go is holy work. It deserves real attention — and real ceremony. Drawing from Mary's shamanic wisdom and earth-based spiritual traditions, and Dawn's deeply personal stories of releasing a beloved home, a cherished friendship, and a business identity that no longer fit, this episode offers both the why and the how of release. They explore what gets stuck in the body when we hold on too long, how nature's cycles mirror our own need to shed and renew, and why releasing the old is the very thing that creates space for the new. This week's SoulFire Spark: a Release Letter — a simple, ten-minute practice of writing to what you're ready to let go of, thanking it for what it taught you, and telling it, gently but clearly: it's time. You are always in the process of becoming. Trust the letting go. It knows the way. You don't have to choose between being open and being protected. You can be both. In this grounding and liberating episode of SoulFire Sisters, Dr. Mary Newstrom and Dawn Morningstar dive deep into one of the most misunderstood concepts in the spiritual and personal growth world: energetic boundaries. Not walls. Not armor. Not closing yourself off — but learning to tend your energy field the way a gardener tends sacred ground: pulling the weeds, watering what you want to grow, and never cementing over the soil. Drawing from Mary's shamanic and earth-based healing wisdom and Dawn's years of coaching women to build their lives and businesses from the inside out, this episode is especially for the woman who feels everything — the helper, the fixer, the empath who gives endlessly and wonders why she's always exhausted. Together, the sisters unpack what energy really means (beyond the buzzword), why sensitive women often developed their gift in the soil of trauma, and why protecting your energy isn't selfish — it's the work. They share personal stories, practical tools, and a simple but powerful practice called the Energy Audit to help you begin noticing — without judgment — where your energy flows freely and where it's being drained. You are allowed to take up space in your own energy field. All of it. It belongs to you. Not the polished version. The real one.Melanie has helped hundreds of women step into their professional presence with clarity and confidence, and what she's learned might surprise you: your brand isn't something you create. Empowering Women in Real Estate - The Podcast with Karen Cooper
How you start your morning can shape everything that follows. In this episode of Empowering Women in Real Estate® – The Podcast, I'm joined by bestselling author Jennifer Dukes Lee to talk about how creating intentional morning rituals can bring more peace, purpose, and joy into your day — even in the middle of a busy life and business. Jennifer shares the inspiration behind her new book How to Love Your Morning (releasing April 7th), and why she believes mornings are not about rigid routines or waking up at 4:30 AM. Instead, they are about creating meaningful rituals that help you begin your day grounded, intentional, and connected to what matters most. We talk about the difference between a routine and a ritual, how your identity shapes the way you approach mornings, and why even a few intentional minutes at the start of the day can change your mindset and energy. Jennifer also shares wisdom from interviewing 100 women across different seasons of life about what actually helps them start their day well. In this episode, we discuss: • Why mornings are so powerful — and why they matter for busy professionals • The difference between a morning routine and a morning ritual • Why you don't have to wake up early to become a "morning person" • How morning rituals can sustain you during stressful or caregiving seasons • The surprising impact of "revenge bedtime procrastination" on your mornings • Practical ideas from women in many stages of life for starting the day with intention If your mornings often feel rushed, reactive, or chaotic, this conversation will inspire you to rethink how you begin your day — and how a few intentional moments can change everything.
