Our apologies for the rough audio on the intro and outro!
Sara interviews Kelly Horan, senior producer and a senior reporter of the Last Seen podcast from WBUR and The Boston Globe. Podcast Brunch Club did things a little differently this month: rather than a thematic podcast playlist, PBC members worldwide did a deep dive into the Last Seen podcast. The podcast explored the largest unsolved art heist in history, which was the theft of 13 artworks from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in 1990.

Kurt Andersen talks with Missy Mazzoli and Karen Russell about Mazzoli’s new opera, “Proving Up,” based on a short story by Russell about a family’s bleak prospects in post-Civil War Nebraska. Buffalo Tom singer Bill Janovitz talks about how, when the band scaled back its touring and recording, he found a less hip — and yet surprisingly satisfying — career in the Boston suburbs. More from Beantown as Kurt talks with Kelly Horan about the podcast she co-hosts, “Last Seen,” which is about biggest art heist ever — at Boston’s Gardner Museum. And conceptual artist Rutherford Chang’s delightfully obsessive art project — buying as many original copies of the Beatles’ “White Album” as he can get his hands on. Nearly 30 years ago, thieves posing as police officers broke into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and made off with 13 artworks. The total value of the heist in today's market? A cool US$500 million, making it the biggest art theft of all time. Despite a $10 million reward no arrests have ever been made, and none of the art's ever been recovered. 'Last Seen' from WBUR Boston and the Boston Globe is presented by Kelly Horan and Jack Rodolico.
