Todd and Kevin discuss Mark A. Bragg's talk from the Saturday evening session of April 2023 general conference. Addressing poise, Elder Bragg explained how Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of divine and spiritual poise.
"Our hearts were drawn to the call of a prophet this April 2023 conference weekend. He reminded us that the easiest way to identify a follower of Christ is how compassionately that person treats other people. He told us that charity is the principal characteristic of a true follower of Christ, how charity defines a peacemaker. He promised us that if we would follow his counsel, we would arise as a spiritually strong woman of Christ. And then he told us the best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others. The prophet invited us to examine our discipleship, to make adjustments so that our behavior would be representative of a true follower of Jesus Christ. To live and interact with others in a higher, holier way. “I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would.” For the next six months, we plan to accept this invitation. In April and May, we will learn to UNDERSTAND HIS LOVE as we study the life and attributes of the PEACE GIVER. In June and July, we will study how to FEEL HIS LOVE as we find ways to experience PERSONAL PEACE. In August and September, we will discover how to SHARE HIS LOVE as we learn how to become PEACEMAKERS.Love gives second chances. Love asks, How can I help? Love is the welcoming in. Love doesn't stand higher, but meets people where they are. Love is never too good for someone. Love is full of grace. Love does not call attention to self. Love has an understanding heart. Love assumes the best. Love will not stand for injustice, helps carry the burden, creates trust, has high hopes and expectations. Love doesn't leave when things get tough.Love never fails. We look forward to spending the next six months with you!"
Elder Bragg reminds us of the importance of peace and poise in his talk “Christlike Poise.” Here are some questions to consider as you study: When have you felt poise in the trying times of your life? How did your faith in Christ enable that poise? And if you're looking for further reading: Footnotes 8, 18 "Content with the Things Allotted unto Us" by Neal A. Christlike poise requires that we avoid comparing ourselves to others or pretending to be someone we're not.” “Poise comes when we see things from an eternal perspective. The Lord has counseled His disciples to “lift up your eyes” and to “let the solemnities of eternity rest upon your minds.” … An eternal view enables Christlike poise.”Link to General Conference Journal Edition: https://www.seagullbook.com/general-conference-addresses-journal-edition-april-2023.html?Category_Code=BOOKS

Elder Mark A. Bragg talks about how Christ can help us find light in the world.
This talk gave us a great chance to review some of the positive things in our lives. Mark A. Bragg’s talk “Brighter and Brighter Until the Perfect Day” (April 2017) was a reminder that although things seem gloomy, there is so much to be grateful for. During this discussion, we share some of the ways we’ve been able to focus on positivity and try to figure out why it’s so darn easy to be negative all the time. We hope you enjoy the conversation! Sill on holding ideas in your mind: “Professor James explains that the mind is made up by what it feeds upon. He said that the mind, like the dyer’s hand, is colored by what it holds. If I hold in my hand a sponge full of purple dye, my hand becomes purple. And if I hold in my mind and heart great ideas of faith and enthusiasm, my whole personality is changed accordingly.” (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1978/04/the-poetry-of-success?lang=eng) The talk where President Eyring discusses the drunk driving member and seeing him like Christ would: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2017/04/walk-with-me?lang=eng The talk where President Nelson discusses the Atonement not being amorphous:https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2017/04/drawing-the-power-of-jesus-christ-into-our-lives?lang=eng Preach My Gospel on the Light of Christ - Chapter 4: (https://www.lds.org/manual/preach-my-gospel-a-guide-to-missionary-service/how-do-i-recognize-and-understand-the-spirit?lang=eng) The lonely woman who wrote to a neighbor to be her friend: (http://www.sunnyskyz.com/good-news/2187/A-Lonely-Old-Woman-Asked-Her-Neighbor-To-Be-Her-Friend-With-Heartbreaking-Note) 16 Things it Took me 50 Years to Learn by Dave Barry (https://plus.google.com/+ScottKelby/posts/EdkSeivNHvG).
