Bournemouth and Sunderland cancelled each other out at Vitality Stadium in a frustrating 1-1 draw that did little for either side's European ambitions. On a night where both teams showed flashes of quality, the game never truly found its rhythm — broken up by fouls, stoppages and a series of baffling refereeing decisions that left players, managers and supporters exasperated. Was it a tactical stalemate? Or did poor officiating rob the match of any real flow? We go over the weekend's action before previewing Cherries' BIG clash against the Bees. Our clashes against Brentford suggests recent history is not on our side. With an abysmal record against the West London. side, can the Andoni Iraola's side finally turn the tide, or will old habits die hard? In our preview, we break down Tuesday night's encounter, with one particular stat that should give Bournemouth fans heaps of hope! A whole new world of inventive, insidious and infectious metalcore awaits in 2026, with Melbourne's The Gloom In The Corner -- Mikey Arthur (vocals), Jesse Abdurazak (guitar), Paul Musolino (bass) and Joshua Clinch (drums) -- on the cusp of releasing their third full-length album Royal Discordance, due out on Friday 27 February via SharpTone Records.A record that could readily soundtrack an Anime epic, a Netflix smash series, or a sprawling open-world game, Royal Discordance is certainly not your average metalcore album. An action-packed opus hell-bent on sharp narratives and astonishing sonic dexterity, Royal Discordance journeys between an all-out onslaught (previous single Assassination Run) through to cinematic-yet-sinister brutality on Nope (Hollow Point Elysium), grinning chaotic frenzy on You Didn't Like Me Then (You Won't Like Me Now), and a double closing sucker punch via the two-track suite Love 1: A Quaver Through the Pale and Love 2: A Walk Amongst The Poppy Fields.HEAVY caught up with Mikey Arthur to find out more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

We catch up on everything that has changed since then and dive deep into the band's new album Royal Discordance, both musically and emotionally.Mikey breaks down the writing process behind the record, the emotional weight carried by the characters, and how those feelings shaped the direction of the album. We spend a lot of time exploring the larger conceptual universe he has built, how the story continues to evolve, and what it means to balance narrative, heaviness, and honesty in the music. It's a thoughtful, creative conversation that digs into storytelling, world building, and the personal connection behind one of the band's most ambitious releases to date.

Corvus Belli, the Spanish miniature wargame publisher, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Founded in 2001 by three friends, the company began with 15mm scale historical miniatures before launching the 28mm scale ‘Warcrow’ fantasy models in 2002. Their breakthrough came with the 2005 release of the sci-fi skirmish wargame Infinity, which evolved from a modified Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Infinity is notable for its unique rules, including an “active” and “reactive” turn system that keeps both players engaged, a flexible order system, and the use of D20s instead of D6s. The game has since grown through several editions, expansions, and community support like the official Infinity Army web application. Corvus Belli also launched the Infinity Tournament System in 2010 to support competitive play and has continuously pushed the metaplot forward, including the recent Endsong expansion and the new Next Wave faction released in 2025. The company’s expansion has included collaborations like the Infinity tabletop RPG with Modiphius in 2015 and major board games such as Aristeia (2017), Infinity Defiance (2019), and TAG Raid (2021). Atlas Games co-owner John Nephew announced he is removing all of their products from Amazon’s Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) program due to what he describes as “lousy business partner” practices, including bait and switch promotions and inexplicable storage/shipping fees. To minimize waste and ensure the inventory goes to gamers instead of being destroyed, he is offering to send individual FBA items—including board games, card games like Gloom, the Over the Edge RPG, and accessories—for free to any gamer in the USA. Interested parties can email him their mailing address by the end of January 2026. The Dungeons & Dragons crossover with Fortnite, which has resulted in a new series of five fan-made, D&D-themed islands created by community creators Chartis and Teravision Games. These islands range from a PvP arena and co-op boss fight to the largest co-op roguelike in Fortnite history, featuring D&D locations like the Yawning Portal and legendary characters like Klauth the dragon. The article writer expresses skepticism about the marketing value of the crossover, questioning its appeal to non-D&D fans and suggesting the focus should be on this year’s actual D&D rulebook release schedule instead of guest appearances in video games. Lex Ecclesiastica, a free, unofficial Warhammer 40k narrative TTRPG that centers on the all-female Adepta Sororitas, or Sisters of Battle. The game uses the Resistance Toolbox system, which is “built around struggle,” with players juggling core stats like Body, Faith, Authority, Fortune, and Corruption. The game is praised for giving depth to the Sisters of Battle faction, blending the over-the-top violence of the 40k setting with the somber storytelling required for these dogmatic warriors, and it is available for free download on itch.io. Stijn Schmitz welcomes Marc Faber to the show. Marc Faber is Contrarian Investor and Publisher of the Gloom, Boom, & Doom Report. Their discussion centers on global economic trends, monetary policy, and the impact of continuous money printing by central banks. Faber, a proponent of the Austrian school of economics, critically examines the current financial landscape, highlighting how central banks and financial institutions are incentivized to continuously print money, which leads to uneven price increases across various assets. Faber argues that money printing fundamentally distorts economic systems, with financial institutions benefiting first from monetary expansion while average workers experience declining real wages. He points out that while nominal GDP might show growth, real purchasing power for most people has actually decreased. The conversation explores the historical context of economic cycles, with Faber referencing economists like Kondratiev and discussing how societies rise and decline. The discussion shifts to geopolitical dynamics, particularly the changing global power balance between the United States and emerging powers like China and Russia. Faber suggests that the US is no longer in the dominant position it held post-World War II, with potential competitive challenges emerging from other global powers. Regarding investment strategies, Faber recommends diversification across assets like real estate, precious metals, stocks, and cash. He sees particular potential in gold, silver, and platinum as alternative currencies, and believes these metals can serve as protection against monetary devaluation. He’s especially bullish on platinum, suggesting it might eventually surpass gold in price. Faber’s investment philosophy emphasizes understanding price dynamics over specific company details, advocating for purchasing assets below their intrinsic value. He remains skeptical of government interventions and central bank policies, viewing them as potentially destructive to long-term economic stability. Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode, Hunter invites us into the fifth day of our journey through the scriptures, exploring Genesis 12–14 and Luke 5. As we travel with Abram through moments of faith and challenge, witness God's promises unfold, and encounter Jesus calling his disciples, healing the outcast, and challenging the religious status quo, we're reminded that these stories point us towards transformation in Christ's love. Hunter reflects on what it means to walk with the Bridegroom—to live joyfully in Jesus's presence, embracing an abundant, childlike faith even in times of hardship or grief. As always, the episode weaves in meaningful prayer and encouragement for your journey, offering hope, comfort, and a reminder that you are deeply loved. Settle in and let God's word nurture your heart today—let's continue this journey together! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Is the bridegroom with us or not? That's the question that comes to the surface as we listen to Jesus respond to the religious leaders in Luke 5. They were disturbed, unsettled by Jesus and his disciples, and how different they seemed from the expected religious norm. Why all the eating and drinking, the lightness and celebration? Shouldn't holy people look more somber, more weighed down by the gravity of spiritual things? But Jesus invites us into a startling possibility—when the bridegroom is with us, it's not a time for gloom. It's not the season for heavy restriction or ritual sadness. It's time to live, to eat and drink, to walk in the abundant life and the joyful celebration of his presence. There certainly is a time for mourning, for fasting, Jesus says. There are seasons of loss and waiting and longing. And yet, even then—for those who belong to Jesus—those seasons are now carried out in the presence and company of the One who is our comforter, our wisdom, our light. He walks with us even through the valley of the shadow of death. He prepares a table for us, a banquet of grace, even when we are surrounded by difficulty, sorrow, or even our enemies. This is the new wine that Jesus brings, the unexpected freedom and fullness of life that flows from walking with the bridegroom. It is a new thing—and sometimes, we may struggle to accept the joy, the lightness, the new way Jesus calls us into. The religious self in us may want to revert back to old patterns, the requisite religious gloom. But Jesus calls us forward, into a childlike, unselfconscious, abundant life, alive to his joyous presence. He's making all things new, and that includes you and me. The prayer of my own heart is that I will live today awake to the bridegroom's presence. That I might even surprise myself with the freedom, joy, and love that spring up when I remember who is with me—the bright and morning star, my joy, my life. In sorrow or in celebration, in fasting or in feasting, may I choose to live as a loved child of God who walks in the newness Christ has made. That's my prayer for my soul, for my family, and for you today. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

In a world that often feels heavy and uncertain, we’ll gather to see and celebrate the comfort of His presence—the Light who enters our darkness, the Peace that steadies our hearts, and the hope that never fades. Discussion Questions: In Isaiah 9:1–2, Isaiah describes a movement from deep darkness to light. Based on the text, what is the source of this shift? What does Isaiah want us to see as the turning point from doom to hope? Isaiah calls the Messiah the “Prince of Peace” in verse 6. Looking at verses 6–7, where does this peace come from, and what kind of peace is Isaiah describing? What clues do we get that this peace is rooted in God’s rule, not our circumstances? In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul says we are reconciled to God through Christ and calls people to “be reconciled to God.” How does peace with God serve as the foundation for every other kind of peace Isaiah points toward? Jesus says in John 14:27, “My peace I give to you… not as the world gives.” How does Jesus’ definition of peace differ from what we usually think of when we talk about peace? How does this help us understand why inner peace can exist even when life feels unsettled? Pastor Jon talked about peace in four directions—peace with God, peace within, peace with others, and peace that is still to come. Which of those do you feel most drawn to or most lacking right now, and how does Scripture invite you to take a step toward peace there?

1. Welfare System Fraud and Structural Issues Based on an op-ed by Phil Gramm and John Early in The Wall Street Journal titled “The Biggest Fraud in Welfare”. Key points: U.S. welfare spending has skyrocketed 765% since the mid-1970s, now totaling $1.4 trillion annually. If distributed evenly among the 19.8 million families classified as poor, each would receive $71,000 per year. The government fails to count non-cash benefits (Medicaid, housing subsidies, food stamps) as income, creating a distorted picture of poverty. Example: A single parent earning $11,000 annually can receive benefits worth $53,128, bringing total resources to $64,128, well above the poverty threshold. Criticism of the system: It traps people in dependency instead of promoting self-sufficiency, contrasting with Trump-era welfare reform that moved 7 million people off food stamps into the workforce. 2. Massive Fraud in Minnesota’s Medicaid and Welfare Programs Federal prosecutors allege up to $9 billion in fraud since 2018, possibly 50% of the $18 billion spent on 14 programs. Fraud described as “industrial scale”, involving fake companies and individuals exploiting housing and autism assistance programs. Some funds allegedly funneled to Al Shabab, a Somali terrorist organization. Criticism of Minnesota’s Democratic leadership for lack of oversight and alleged vote-buying incentives. Prediction: Similar fraud likely exists in California, New York, and Illinois. Media accused of downplaying the scandal; local CBS reports highlighted the severity. 3. Strong U.S. Economic Performance Under Trump Latest GDP report shows 4.3% growth in Q3, the strongest in two years, beating expectations of 3.2%. Growth driven by consumer spending, healthcare, tech, and AI-related investments. Inflation reportedly down to 1.6%, signaling economic stability. Commentary contrasts media narratives predicting economic collapse with reality of strong holiday spending and trade policy success. Trump’s supply-side policies (tax cuts, deregulation) and trade strategies credited for economic boom. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. PREVIEW — Professor Steven Hayward — The Shift from Optimism to Environmental Gloom. John Batchelor and Professor Steven Hayward trace the intellectual origins of "apocalyptic environmentalism" to the comprehensive collapse of liberal optimism during the turbulent 1960s. Hayward argues that catastrophic policy failures regarding Vietnam War prosecution, escalating urban crime, and intractable poverty discredited liberal governance ideology, displacing the Kennedy-era sunniness and technological optimism with a persistent cultural pessimism that catalyzed the environmental catastrophism of the 1970s. Hayward documents how this ideological shift from confidence to apocalyptic gloom sustained Republican political victories throughout subsequent decades, establishing enduring conservative demographic coalitions opposing progressive environmental regulation predicated on existential doom narratives.
