Do you think women and men are equal in today's society- do they have equal opportunities in education and career development, do they have equal pay for equal work, are there particular obstacles that women face that men don't? What about in the home? In your home- do you split the tasks 50:50? Until women are no longer seen as the primary carer of children or older family members, will there ever be true equality? What about equality in faith. It hasn't always been the case that women and men are treated equally as worshippers in faith. Decades ago, women weren't allowed to participate in the same way that they do now- as readers, or cantors, or collectors. In many Churches men and women were kept apart, in separated aisles,.for fear of temptation or distraction. And of course what about the call to serve? The Catholic Church still will not allow women priests. Anglican and Presbyterian Churches do- but amid some entrenched opposition- to the extent that people have left their Church in protest. And does the Church's treatment of women play a part in how women are seen and treated across wider society? Presenter Audrey Carville in conversation with Presbyterian minister and university chaplain the Reverend Cheryl Meban, theologian Dr Elaine Storkey, retired school principal and self described practising and questioning Catholic Michele Marken and Naomi Green, assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain.

You would think the death of your child would be a wound that could never heal. It does leave a scar, but it doesn't mean it can't heal and even heal well. Special guest, Mike Dusold, shares the life and passing of his son Brian. Brian's passing was not and is not easy. It's been hard on multiple levels. But, Mike's family made a choice to use Brian's life and his passing as a way to demonstrate the faith, hope, and love of Christ. Admittedly, Mike says that it's not been easy. Some days are harder than others, but as time passes he sees God using Brian's story to touch others. Brian's compassion, love for others, and ability to connect and communicate with most anyone are just a few of the precious gifts that he leaves behind. Mike was vulnerable with his sharing of how they dealt with Brian in his early years of drug use. Always working out of love, but sometimes recognizing that he and his wife should of chosen to be more tough in their loving. This is harder than people on the outside would imagine. When it is your own child that is heading for disaster, you want to do whatever you can to ease the immediate pain. As Mike discusses, sometimes easing the immediate pain might just be kicking the pain down the road. Check out this show and please share to others that may be in a similar position. We do not have to go this alone as parents and families. God has a plan for all of our lives. It may not be the path that we would choose, but it is a path that can lead to the greatest rewards and gifts to ourselves and others. One of the problems in Corinth Paul had heard about, was “concerning spiritual gifts” [1 Cor. 12 v.1] This chapter and the next two show that the improper use of the gifts by some was a large problem. Of course, with the Gospels not yet in circulation, the existence of spiritual gifts had real purpose. Paul says that “the manifestation of the Spirit (was) for the common good. To one is given the spirit of the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge, according to the same spirit, to another, faith …”[v.7-9]We pondered the inclusion of “faith” as a gift – and recalled the times when Jesus chided his disciples “O you of little faith [Matt.8 v.26 etc] so we conclude that among that first generation of believers it was vital, on occasions, to have a man of firm faith, to steady the ecclesial boat when it was rocking and faith was weakening. Chapter 12 ends by telling us, “But earnestly desire the higher gifts” – those named first would be in this category, they were of the most value for their spiritual health. The last named gifts are tongues and the ability to interpret them (v.30) and Paul warns in Ch, 14 that if these are used in church “and outsiders and unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds” [v.24] – clearly they were to enable those who possessed them to give the message, when they had opportunity, to those of other languages. Acts 2 v.11 describes the impact of this on the day of Pentecost – “”we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God”The final words in Ch. 12 are “And now I show you a still more excellent way” – this brings us to Ch. 13 and its oft quoted words praising the vital role of love. “If I give away all I have …. But have not love, I gain nothing” [v.3] is one of the points Paul makes. He says, “Love never ends … prophecies … will pass away … tongues, they will cease …” [v.8] The final verse tells us, “So now faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”These words provoked a final thought – when Christ's kingdom is established, faith will be turned to sight and hope fulfilled – but love will last forever. Those who commit themselves to embrace the things that abide today and live with this wonderful future before them will, by God's grace, live forever with love as the dominating factor in their lives..
Psalms of Freedom: A Journey of Faith, Hope, and Healing by Joseph H.K.A. Espinda, Jr.How can a broken soul find his way to a better life? He can't! But through Jesus Christ all things are possible and reachable. The reason for writing this book isn't to save anyone because I cannot save a single person – only Jesus can. The reason for the book is to help others by sharing experiences about abuse, bad habits, alternative lifestyles, addiction, and depression to show that all these things can be overcome and replaced with true joy and freedom. I have written many psalms (poems) during my journey, and they are sprinkled throughout the chapters. They are meant to stir the heart and spark the imagination into believing that there is a greater force beyond us that longs to embrace us with truth, peace, and love. Songs and poems can create powerful visuals and tap into the human soul to promote an awakening not previously recognized. That awakening is the power and light of Christ. The psalms speak of my heart and how the love of the Savior changes hearts and changes lives and changes perspectives. My greatest perspective change is my identity and how I am seen by the Lord – I am a child of God. As His child, I can step out in faith knowing that God is always near no matter where I have been or where I am going. The same is available to anyone – no matter what.About The Author He was a broken soul searching for release from his personal demons which are like many who are trapped by the enticing of the world. After many years of struggle, depression, suicide attempts, and a longing to find God's love, he was able to overcome and realize true freedom through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. No longer addicted to an alternate lifestyle, he freely shares his experiences to show others who are on the same road that he was on that there is an offramp to freedom, joy, and fulfilment (A Journey of Faith, Hope, and Healing).https://www.amazon.com/Psalms-Freedom-Journey-Faith-Healing/dp/B0DK7M4661https://www.authorwebservices-gem4.net/https://www.instagram.com/joseph_hka_espinda/reel/DCDLe5xy-MF/https://mainspringbooks.com/http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/22725jej.mp3

Delight Your Marriage | Relationship Advice, Christianity, & Sexual Intimacy
I recently had the incredible opportunity to be a guest on Gary Thomas' podcast. If you've been around Delight Your Marriage for a while, you know what a dear friend Gary has been to this ministry. Not only is he a best-selling author and speaker, but he's also been so generous in inviting us to share on his platform in the past. And this time? I got to be part of a panel alongside two truly amazing women: Juli Slattery—President and Co-Founder of Authentic Intimacy and author of several life-changing books, including God, Sex, & Your Marriage and Rethinking Sexuality. Debra Fileta—Creator of the #1 faith-based relationship advice blog TrueLoveDates.com and author of True Love Dates: Your Indispensable Guide to Finding the Love of Your Life and Married Sex: A Christian Couple's Guide to Reimagining Your Love (among many others). We came together for a powerful discussion about helping wives awaken to intimate pleasure—such an essential and often overlooked topic. The wisdom and insights from these women were just incredible, and I cannot wait for you to hear this conversation. Here were some key takeaways from our panel discussion: The Challenge of Awakening Sexual Fulfillment For so many women, the journey toward enjoying sex in marriage isn't a simple switch—it's a process. If you've spent years saying "no"—whether because of purity culture, past wounds, or just never learning that sex is a gift—it makes sense that "yes" doesn't come easily. And you are not alone in this! How Husbands Can Help Their Wives Awaken to Pleasure Men, you've likely never been discipled in how to help your wife step into her own sexual enjoyment. Many husbands enter marriage assuming their wife will naturally embrace sex, but the reality is, she may feel lost, hesitant, or even afraid. This is where your role as her safe place matters deeply. Here are some questions that Debra suggested as conversation starters on sex: What's something you're looking forward to in our sex life? What's something that makes you nervous or unsure? What beliefs about sex do you want to hold onto, and what do you want to let go of? Overcoming the Weight of Purity Culture Many women who "did everything right" and waited for marriage still find themselves struggling. Why? Because purity culture often framed sex as something to avoid, not as a gift to embrace. As Juli Slattery puts it, "Just because I waited, doesn't mean I know how to start." That's the truth. And if this is you, grace upon grace, my friend. Sexual wholeness isn't about following a list of dos and don'ts. It's about stepping into the fullness of what God has given and allowing Him to reframe any distorted views we carry. The Power of Emotional & Spiritual Connection Debra Fileta says, "What you do above the sheets paves the way for what happens under the sheets." I could not agree more. Emotional and spiritual safety fuels physical intimacy. Husbands, if your wife doesn't feel safe, known, and whole-heartedly cherished, her body won't naturally respond to you with desire. So, before you think about sex, think about: Playfulness in everyday life (it builds intimacy!) How you affirm and admire her body How well she feels known and cherished by you It's Not About You, It's About Her A massive shift for many husbands is realizing that sex in marriage isn't just about "getting my needs met." If your wife doesn't feel safe, it's no wonder intimacy feels like a duty rather than a desire. You have an opportunity to disciple your heart in a new way. Instead of seeing your wife as the "acceptable outlet" for your sexual needs, ask: "How can I be the safest place for her to enjoy intimacy?" When she feels safe, she will want to engage. Not out of obligation, but because she feels free to. How to Move Toward More Desire in Marriage Wives, rather than wondering and praying, "Why am I broken?" for not wanting intimacy, instead ask, "How can I cultivate a desire for intimacy?" Some ideas: Non-sexual sensual touch with no pressure Playfulness in your daily life (This is huge!) Embracing a "turning a dial" rather than "flipping a switch" approach to intimacy Addressing Past Trauma & Emotional Wounds Even in strong marriages, past sexual trauma or unhealthy conditioning can affect intimacy. And let's be real: just having a great marriage doesn't mean sex will be effortless. For some, the body's response to past wounds will still show up. That's okay. It's part of the journey. Healing takes time, patience, and sometimes outside help. If this is part of your story, give yourself permission to process what's needed. The Role of Faith & Hope in Sexual Fulfillment God is a God of hope. If your marriage has felt disconnected, there is hope. If you've never truly enjoyed sexual pleasure, there is hope. Your story isn't over. Pursue wholeness—emotionally, spiritually, and physically—and trust that intimacy can be more fulfilling than you ever imagined. Final Thoughts Husbands: Emotional and spiritual intimacy first, pleasure follows. Wives: You are not broken. Your pleasure matters. Both: Intimacy is a journey, not a destination. Keep taking steps, and trust that God is working in it all. Friend, you are not alone. Your marriage can grow, your desire can awaken, and your intimacy can thrive. Keep leaning in, keep growing, and keep trusting that God has more for you than you even realize. Be blessed! Love, Belah & Team

Pastor Travis of Impact Church delivered an unforgettable sermon titled Under the Influence of Faith, Hope, and Love, blending real-life stories, bold truth, and timeless scripture to ignite hope and challenge hearts. He shared his own journey from being arrested at 17 to finding freedom in Christ that same night, showing how God can turn any situation around. This powerful message explored what influences us—fear, sin, or faith—and revealed how living under God's influence brings freedom, purpose, and lasting impact. Daron Earlewine delves into the transformative journey of navigating pain and achieving freedom in life. Through the 'Rogue Way' approach, he explores the importance of forgiveness, repentance, and overcoming past strongholds to reclaim lost parts of oneself. Earlewine discusses the challenges of confronting personal demons and the rewarding process of turning pain into passion. Drawing inspiration from thought leaders like Richard Rohr and Phil Stutz, he encourages listeners to pursue a destiny marked by freedom and flourishing, emphasizing the ongoing nature of life's challenges and the power of self-redemption. Key Takeaways: Addressing unresolved pain is essential to achieving personal freedom and stepping into your destiny. The Rogue Collective offers a structured pathway for rogue leaders to make a profound impact on their communities. Transforming your pain is crucial; otherwise, it might be transmitted to others, perpetuating cycles of suffering. Embracing forgiveness and redemption can ultimately free individuals from the strongholds of their past. Living a life filled with purpose and vitality requires continuous effort and confronting challenges head-on. Quotes: "If we do not transform our pain, we will always transmit it. Someone else always suffers because we don't know how to suffer our own wounds." "You were created to step into your destiny... to experience great joy in life." "Everything that's worth anything in life is always an uphill grind." "How can you flourish in life... if you're not free?" "It's usually a method, there's usually a process to it, and it's always worth it." December 9–15: “May Christ Lift Thee Up”Moroni 7–9 Before Moroni concluded the record we know today as the Book of Mormon with his own final words, he shared three messages from his father, Mormon: an address to “the peaceable followers of Christ”This week we will learn: If I have faith in Jesus Christ, I can do whatever He needs me to do.Believing in Jesus Christ can give me hope.I can have hope in Jesus Christ, even during difficult trials.“Charity is the pure love of Christ.”We learn from Mormon and Moroni about Faith Hope and CharitySome audio was taken from the friend magazine. The story from Japan.
Moroni shares a significant sermon by his father, Mormon, focusing on the essential gospel themes of faith, hope, and charity and how these virtues are essential for spiritual growth and salvation. He highlights the enduring nature of charity, the pure love of Christ, as the greatest virtue one can possess. In another epistle by Mormon, this one written directly to Moroni, he discusses the erroneous practice of infant baptism. Mormon clarifies that little children are innocent and saved through Christ's atonement, which negates the need for baptism before accountability. Mormon writes again to Moroni, and focuses on the dire circumstances of the Nephite people, highlighting their moral decay, loss of love towards all and their thirst for blood and revenge. He talks of the imminent destruction of the people. Mormon encourages Moroni, despite these grievous times, to remain steadfast and faithful in Christ. Mormon pleads that the grace of God abide with his son, Moroni, forever.
