Building a team from scratch is hard, especially if we have nobody to guide us. What should we know about building a team and leveraging systems? Is money the only measure of success in real estate? In this episode, Todd Tramonte shares his path of how he built a successful team and what we can learn from his journey. If you are the best technician in your business, you don’t really have a good business -Todd Tramonte 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Put systems in place to maximize your productivity before making hires (09:30:12-20) Many team leaders make the mistake of hiring more agents, and end up being overstaffed, when what they actually need is to be more productive. When we don’t have systems in place, our agents’ efforts will be scattered, and their productivity levels will drop. This is not because they are understaffed, but because they are overwhelmed by not having a clear roadmap and a system to follow. Chase freedom, not money (14:50-15-33) Nobody wants money. We want what the money will get us. Many agents are handcuffed to the money and have no time for the things that matter. Investing our time in cross-training and focusing on the growth of agents will allow us to delegate some of the responsibilities and get more time for ourselves and families. Be perseverant in your follow-up (41:40-32:45) Don’t think of yourself as someone who annoys prospects with messages and calls. We have a solution to their problem-- they just don’t know about it yet. Have a system in place, and don’t be afraid to make phone calls or send messages because our clients will be the ones who get the most out of it if they hire us. We shouldn’t get handcuffed to our business. We can prevent it by investing time in the education and cross-training of our agents. Don’t allow only one person in the business to “hold the keys”, even if that person is yourself. This is the start of how we step out of production and into more time for ourselves and our families. This is a unique Texas Home Improvement broadcast as this weekend instead of doing his typical shows in Dallas and Houston, Jim was on the air for 10 hours in Houston on KTRH as part of their After the Storm coverage. He took dozens of calls from listeners throughout South Texas as they shared their stories and asked questions about their extraordinary circumstances. He came away inspired by the resiliency of these Texans who are ready to put in the work to get their lives back. He also was witness to the recurring theme of this devastating storm which is neighbor helping neighbor as we are all in this together. This podcast is a sampling of some of the calls he took including: cleaning up after flooding, treating your home for mold and bacteria, caring for rental properties, hiring a contractor, options for those without flood insurance, second floor apartments when the first floor was flooded and more.
There is value in treating your team like your own clients. How do you bring world class value to the people who work for and with you? What is the agent-in-training program and how does it help people find their roles? What are the three pillars you can build into your team recruitment? On this episode, we are joined by Todd Tramonte, who shares on team management and using radio as a direct response marketing tool. You can only do branding on the back of direct response and lead generation -Todd Tramonte Takeaways + Tactics - Put people in specific roles where their "stress-response" is the right response for their role. - Use an "Agent-in-Training" model to help people get into their proper role and make mistakes in a low-pressure environment. - Before you provide leads to team members, you need to decide what kind of team you want. At the start of the show, Todd shared on his systems, and how he identifies people’s spectrum of giftedness. Next, we talked about the agent-in-training program and why it’s so important to help people fit into where they are most talented and effective. Todd also talked about how his company uses radio for direct response and not for branding. Towards the end of the show, he shared on targeting through radio. We also spoke about:- The three pillars he puts into his recruitment - Serving and delivering value as a leader - How to lead companies that people love staying in When it comes to recruiting the right people, it helps if people start out with that desire and hustle on their own. There’s always an opportunity if someone is great. As a leader, you have a responsibility to provide value to your team members, and looking at team members as clients you have to serve and deliver value to, not because you’re afraid of losing them but because it’s your duty as a leader. If you lead your company this way, people are going to love working with you. Guest Bio Todd Tramonte is well known as an innovator and leader in the areas of real estate marketing and sales.
