U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents in the El Paso Sector say they've been catching women drug couriers at the border with fentanyl and cocaine smuggled inside their body cavities. Peer-to-peer car rental services are being taken advantage of by criminals. Border Patrol says criminals are getting a hold of the vehicles and using them for drug and human smuggling. North America has traditionally been the point at which the drug routes end. The Colombian drug cartels have made most of their profit with cocaine on the American scene; the Mexican drug cartels have made their profit with marijuana in the United States; the Golden Triangle has reaped its share of the profits with heroin in the United States; and the outlaw motorcycle clubs have made their profit through the production and shipment of amphetamines and methamphetamines in both the United States and Canada. What is changing is the method by which these groups are getting their products into the destination countries and the types of drugs that are in demand. To move cocaine to the United States, the Colombians have established vast networks with the Mexican cartels. For nearly a year, inflation has been hammering Americans. Every month when the Consumer Price Index report gets released, rates have stayed high or gone higher. Hopes that elevated prices were beginning to settle were dashed Friday morning when the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released data showing that the CPI, its broad measure for prices of goods and services, reached 8.6% for the month of May. The number represents the highest level of inflation in the U.S. since 1981, and it has top economists starting to get worried—like, really worried. With interest rates and inflation climbing, many people want to know when these high prices will start to trend downward, and at least one investment professional has said that some financial freedom may be right around the corner. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the consumer price index of all goods increased 1% in May over April, and 8.6% from more than a year ago. Plus, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates in the biggest hike in 28 years, though most people's wages and salaries have remained the same. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This year's report reveals new insights about digital news consumption based on a YouGov survey of over 93,000 online news consumers in 46 markets covering half of the world's population. The report documents ways in which the connection between journalism and the public may be fraying, including a fall in trust following last year's positive bump, a declining interest in news and a rise in news avoidance. It also looks at audience polarization and explores how young people access news. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Since late February, Americans who have gotten a booster shot appear to be testing positive for COVID-19 more often than those vaccinated without the extra shot, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. This is based on numbers up until the week of April 23, which is the most recently released CDC data comparing case rates of those boosted, vaccinated and unvaccinated against the coronavirus. Ultimately, the numbers, which are updated monthly, showed those unvaccinated had the highest case rates overall. Meanwhile, about 119 out of 100,000 boosted individuals tested positive for COVID-19 during the week of April 23, according to CDC data. In comparison, 56 out of 100,000 individuals vaccinated with only a primary series tested positive. Family & Emergency Medicine // Fox News Medical Contributor DR JANETTE NESHEIWAT MD.
