NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Comedian Jim Gaffigan is back with a brand new, hour-long stand-up special on Netflix, called “CINCO.” He chatted with 1010 WINS’ Brigitte Quinn before hitting the road for his latest tour. He said it will be a family affair, with his wife as his writing partner and their kids along for the ride. The tour will include a three-day stint at the Beacon Theater in September. “Performing in New York City is a big deal for a New Yorker, and I love performing in New York, because there’s always an extra 15 minutes that I can’t do anywhere else that people that work and live in New York City will understand that they might not understand in other parts of the country,” he said. “I’m talking about my hometown.” Gaffigan also said he’s a fan of hometown radio station, 1010 WINS. “I love it, because I love just facts. I love news that’s like we’re going to get to it,” he said. “I love the fact that it’s like, we’re going to give you this stuff, it’s just the facts, and we’re going to move on.” He added, “there’s an immediacy to it,” and called the station, “the best type of classic.” The comedian also gave his own rendition of a 1010 WINS traffic report and even did an impression of reporter John Montone.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Actress Priyanka Chopra recently spent “22 Minutes” with 1010 WINS’ Brigitte Quinn, talking about her roles in the upcoming “Baywatch” movie and “Quantico.” “If you’ve been a fan of the old ‘Baywatch,’ the TV show, then this movie takes the spirit of that ‘Baywatch’ and wraps it up in rated R, naughty fun,” she tells Quinn. “That’s the best explanation of this movie I can give.” Chopra talks about working alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron, and getting a special phone call from David “The Hoff” Hasselhoff. She also says “Baywatch” was her mother’s favorite show when she was a child. She tells Quinn she was studying to become an engineer when her mom entered her in a beauty pageant and her life suddenly changed. “I went there to skip my exams… I never in my wildest dreams had thought that I would win or I’d be an actor or any such thing. I’m just glad destiny pushed me in that way,” she says. “I always say I’m destiny’s other favorite child, after Beyonce.” Chopra also talks about “Quantico” being picked up for a third season, and what it’s like filming here in New York City, where she once went to school. “New York was a very imperative part of my upbringing as a kid here. It made me global. It made me understand that the world is a melting pot of different people,” she says. She goes on to discuss her fame and her family’s philanthropic work.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson recently spent “22 Minutes” with 1010 WINS’ Brigitte Quinn, talking about “Modern Family” and more. Ferguson was in New York in part to promote a Pepcid campaign. “I’m a big foodie, and I love eating out, I love cooking at home. I find so much joy in that and so much joy in spending time with family and friends that I don’t want heartburn, which I definitely suffer from, to override that,” he tells Quinn. “So I love the program that they have, and I love the message of seize the meal – carpe dinner.” He talks about having a food blog with a friend chef and hosting the James Beard Awards. Then, of course, they dive into discussing “Modern Family.” The award-winning show was recently renewed for a ninth and 10th season. “It’s the best job I’ve ever had,” Ferguson says. “We’ve been through a lot together, we love each other so much, we call each other our fake family.” “I always think if I had a television show like ‘Modern Family’ on and I had a character I could relate to or a relationship I could strive for – to see myself represented on TV – I think it would have made my coming out process a lot easier,” he says. “And I think it would have been a pop culture touchstone or talking point for my family, which I think would have been really important.” Ferguson also talks about his one-man show, “Fully Committed,” and his love of theater. “I came to New York to be a musical theater star!” he says. “It’s where my love is. I love that interaction between audience and actor. There’s something so visceral about it.”

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Dr. Phil stopped by 1010 WINS to spend “22 Minutes” with Brigitte Quinn. Before diving into his daytime talk show, they discussed his role as executive producer for Daily Mail TV, which launches in September as an extension of the popular website. “They do a lot of stories that we do on the ‘Dr. Phil’ show — human interest stories, and they really dive down and find out what’s behind the headline,” he says. He says after 15 years of the “Dr. Phil” show, he’s just as excited about it as ever. “I’ll tell you why: We reinvent ourselves over the summer every year,” he says. “We ask, how can we tell our stories better? We listen to our viewers and the things that they want to focus on.” He touches on stories like that of Danielle Bregoli, known for the one-liner “cash me outside,” sexual harassment in the workplace, and the controversy surrounding the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why.” He also talks about working alongside Oprah Winfrey and his adult sons. So what story is he particularly proud of? “I am most proud of the shows where we give a voice to those that don’t have it,” he says.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Musician, philanthropist and now author Julian Lennon spent “22 Minutes” with 1010 WINS’ Brigitte Quinn, discussing his new children’s book called “Touch the Earth.” Lennon will be signing the book, which is the first in a trilogy, across the area this week. So why a children’s book? “Every word is loaded. You have to be very careful about what you’re saying. And you have to be able to deliver a message in way that young minds will understand,” he says. “This is not only a lovely story and a picture book, but they’re being educated about morals and the rights and wrongs in life.” Lennon also talks about his musical career, his philanthropic work and of course, his family. He shares the remarkable story of how his charity, The White Feather Foundation, got its start and its name. He tells Quinn he was touring in Australia when he was asked to greet some fans… “There was a big gathering and this elderly woman came up to me with a male white swan’s feather. And the precursor to this is that dad said that if something ever happened to him, to let me know that he’s OK and that we’re going to be OK, it would be in the form of a white feather,” he says. “So when I was presented with a white feather by an indigenous elder of this tribe called the Mirning people, the Mirning tribe, and she said, ‘Listen, you have a voice. Can you help us?’ And it really was that sort of moment — I mean talk about goosebumps — It was that sort of moment, well do I continue playing the rock ‘n roll stuff, or do I actually step up to the plate?” If he could spend 22 minutes with anyone, who would it be? “I’d probably have to say dad. To know him as an adult would be a quite special thing,” he says. “I just want to talk to him about being an adult, how he dealt with it all, and how we remain sane within it.”

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Emmy & Tony award winner Mandy Patinkin spends “22 Minutes” with 1010 WINS’ Brigitte Quinn, discussing his upcoming role in the new “Smurfs” movie, the season finale of “Homeland,” and a special trip to Broadway. “I’m a Smurf now,” he tells Quinn. Papa Smurf, in fact. He says working on the animated project was “a blast.” “I’ve rarely had as much fun as I did doing this,” he says. Patinkin also talks about filming a good part of season six of “Homeland” here in New York City. “I’ve been in New York since 1972 when I came to go to school, and it’s the first time that I have filmed at home for any length of time,” he says. He says it can be exhausting working on a show that so closely mirrors current events. “To recover and connect with reality — I’ve done it for the past two years — I go to the refugees in Lesbos, in Serbia and in Germany,” he says. “I go meet these families, and I walk with them, and I talk with them, and I listen to their stories.” Quinn asks him about Broadway, where he recently saw Jake Gyllenhaal star in his former role in “Sunday in the Park With George.” “As the first song began, I just lost it. It all came flooding back. My 31-year-old memory — I’m now 64 — of this moment of my life, those words, the music, that experience, and then what those beautiful actors gave to it and brought to it, overwhelmed me,” he says. “My biggest problem through the show was trying not to let people hear me sobbing.” “Smurfs: The Lost Village” hits theaters this summer.
