Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Nikki Nash, daughter of musician, trombonist Dick Nash. Now, you may not know the face or the name, Dick Nash but you certainly know his work with Henry Mancini, or should we say Hank Mancini with some of his best known work. Before the Wrecking Crew, Dick and a small group of side-men WERE the Wrecking Crew, playing on hundreds of studio dates for film, TV and major label albums in the 50s and 60s. But as we learn, Dick Nash didn't take every date offered for a very specific reason. Our conversation with Nikki centered around her new book, Collateral Stardust: Chasing Warren Beatty and Other Foolish Things, an autobiography about her life in and around show business that is one hell of a read. Some of the things we talk about in our conversation with Nikki include notable run-ins with everyone from the aforementioned Warren Beatty, as well as Dennis Miller, Louise Lasser, Don Cornelius, Robert Hays, the Black Panthers, Robert Altman and many others. We also discuss long-lost LA restaurants like The Old World and The Luau, the best toast, the job of an A.D. behind the camera, addiction, painting, depression, growing up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles and much more. Nikki was open, honest, funny, matter-of-fact, attentive and gave us all we could handle in discussing her life and her book. And like her book, our interview was breezy and also had a lot of depth below the surface. But don't take my word for it, take a listen to this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast and see for yourself. Everyone has a story.

The first time I interviewed Chris was four years ago! He and his bandmate in Wax Owls, Gerry Hirschfeld, stopped by in Episode 51. Well, some time has passed, hasn't it? Chris and I reconnected earlier this summer for a wide-ranging, lengthy conversation (I feel like it's been a while since the last episode, so this one is a little long to make up for it!) in which we discuss everything from what it takes to be a good attorney to navigating East Coast life vs. West Coast life. In between, we chat about being children of immigrants, the loss of community that's come with the digital age, and more.

This week, we're welcoming some feminine energy to the mic with special guest Leah Naomi Singman — a Michigan-based musician, mother, and longtime friend of Sara J's.In this heartfelt and inspiring conversation, Leah opens up about navigating the male-dominated music industry, transforming life experiences into creative purpose, and what we hope our children learn by watching us chase our dreams. We dive into the beauty of live music communities, her deep love for music, and the magical presence of her grandmother's piano — shipped all the way from Argentina — that sat quietly in the living room throughout her childhood.Leah shares the surprising influence of the legendary Argentine hippie band Sui Generis, and how a Carole King cartoon musical left a lasting impression. From writing her first song at age eight, to picking up a guitar for the first time at Shabbat dinner, not allowing a janky guitar from a flea market to discourage her and learning classical guitar — her musical journey is as unconventional as it is inspiring. With her debut album set to release this November, Leah talks about the creative process, the serendipitous way she met her producer, and the multi-instrumentalist collaborators bringing her songs to life.

One of our brightest musical talents is making waves across the ditch, just in time for some new music to drop. Cassie Henderson arrived on our screens in 2014, competing on X-Factor at 14 years old, and making it all the way to the quarterfinals. She stepped away from music for a while, before returning to the industry in 2023, quitting her job to pursue music fulltime. Since then, Henderson's won awards, released new music, and is currently competing on the The Voice Australia. “It was the biggest opportunity for me to grow, and rise up, and test myself,” she said of performing on TV. “I get messages a lot from young people in New Zealand saying that I inspire them, which is always a huge dream, but it's almost a little bittersweet because I know how long I've been working at this, and I know how long I haven't had success for.” “It's a really tough gig, but it's always been my passion, and it's what I love the most in the world, so it's no question for me.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This summer huge crowds gathered at Glastonbury Festival to sing along to a set of 'Assembly Bangers'; beloved songs from primary school. Musician and music teacher James B. Partridge led the field with classics including 'One More Step Along the World I Go', 'He's Got the Whole World in his Hands' and 'Lord of the Dance'. The popularity of these songs goes beyond music festivals, and this autumn in his Homecoming concert Mal Pope will include an 'Assembly Banger' slot with singer and songwriter Graham Kendrick, composer of 'Shine Jesus Shine'. The popularity of primary school songs has taken many by surprise and this week Azim Ahmed sets out to explore why so many people love singing tunes from their youth. Azim speaks to James B. Partridge who explains that he began recording ‘Assembly Bangers' during the Covid lockdown — and was astonished at how popular they became. Alongside his teaching commitments he's also planning a nationwide tour this Christmas. We'll visit the Freedom Festival in Carmarthen, an event run by the Diocese of St. David's, where the Crowfoot band performs an 'Assembly Banger' slot and we'll hear from the audience there. We'll speak to Mal Pope and Graham Kendrick about the importance of communal singing, and lastly we'll visit Clyro Church in Wales Primary School to find out which songs children love today and which ones could be the 'Assembly Bangers' of the future.

Writer Christopher Mason says that Ghislaine Maxwell commissioned him to write a birthday song for Jeffrey Epstein that included very lurid and sexualized references—specifically lyrics about “24-hour erections” and “schoolgirl crushes” when Epstein had taught at Dalton School. According to Mason, Maxwell gave him highly explicit instructions about what to include in the lyrics, but prevented him from contacting anyone else who might have known Epstein for background. Mason claims the song was performed at a dinner with wealthy men in attendance, and that the mood was celebratory, even mocking. The song apparently referenced Epstein's sexual behavior in front of guests like Leslie Wexner and others in his social circle. To contact me:Bobbycapucci@protonmail.comSource:https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12235042/ghislaine-maxwell-jeffrey-epstein-24-hour-erections/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Comedy Saved Me Podcast - Episode Show Notes Guest: Thom Tran Episode Description In this powerful episode of Comedy Saved Me, host Lynn Hoffman sits down with multi-talented veteran, comedian, musician, and activist Thom Tran for an inspiring conversation about resilience, healing, and finding purpose through laughter. Thom’s journey from combat soldier to comedy stage is nothing short of remarkable. After enlisting in the U.S. Army at just 18 years old, Thom served as a Communications and Civil Affairs Sergeant within the Army’s Special Operations Community. His military career came to an abrupt end in 2003 when a sniper’s bullet struck the back of his skull during combat operations in Iraq, just four days after crossing the border. Despite his injuries, Thom bandaged himself up and completed his 12-month tour—a testament to his incredible strength and dedication. Following his medical retirement in 2005, Thom discovered that comedy didn’t just change his life—it saved it. He channeled his experiences into stand-up comedy, eventually creating The GIs of Comedy Tour in 2010, a groundbreaking comedic troupe that has performed across the United States and in nearly two dozen countries, bringing healing laughter to military and civilian audiences alike. Lynn and Thom dive deep into how humor became his lifeline, the challenges of transitioning from military to civilian life, and his mission to help other veterans through the transformative power of comedy. Special thanks to Dr. Ron Hirshberg and General Jack Hammond from Home Base for their support of our podcasts and for introducing us to Thom. For information on their amazing work go to https://homebase.org This episode is a testament to the healing power of laughter and the resilience of the human spirit—a must-listen for anyone who believes in the transformative power of comedy. Mike TrampTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Mike Tramp. After making a nationwide name for himself in his home country of Denmark, with a band called Mabel, Mike set sail for the musical shores of America. Early in the 1980s, Mike Tramp formed the rock band White Lion. Selling millions of records across the country, White Lion charted top 10 hits like "Wait", and "When the Children Cry". Over the years, band members have come and gone on their way to five albums between 1985 & 2008; but one thing never changed... their fearless leader Mike Tramp has always put the music first. In this episode, Mike and I chat about his getting into the music business as a teen in Denmark, and what that was like with his band Mabel. Then we talk about why he felt the need to come to New York to start the rock band White Lion. Naturally we discuss this band's success, and specifically my favorite of their songs "When the Children Cry". We dive into the meaning behind the lyrics, and I give my own interpretation of its meaning at the time to a pre-teen me. Mike graciously lets me play that track, and then we move onto his newest project. In 2023, 2024, & 2025, Mike has released the albums: "Songs of White Lion", "Songs of White Lion Vol II", & "Songs of White Lion Vol III", respectively. He explains why he felt the need to do this and even lets me play one of the new tracks from this third installment. Along the way, we discuss some of Mike's early influences like: Thin Lizzy, Ronnie James Dio, Freddy Mercury, and more. Mike Tramp is everything you hope an 80s rock front man would be. Great guy, open and honest, and generous with his time and talent. Follow Mike on all the socials, find him playing live all over the world, and check out his 16 solo records as well as the newest "Songs of White Lion" installment.
