    The Dangers of Socialism

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 27, 2018 14:10

Here’s a teaching snippet: “In this podcast we will discuss the ever present and pervasive dangers of Socialism in our culture. Now I’m pretty sure most of you have heard of Karl Marx, the so called ‘father of Marxism’ also coined as ‘Communism’ or ‘Socialism’ in today’s vernacular. But did you know that Karl Marx was a ‘God hater’ and his main aim was to usurp the moral and economic foundations of society, with a pamphlet called the ‘Communist Manifesto?’ Karl Marx was born in Trier, Germany on May 5th 1818 and later died in London, England in March of 1883. His father was a successful lawyer and was devoted to the teachings of Voltaire and Kant. Karl was the oldest surviving boy of nine children and of Jewish descent. What is not commonly known; is that Karl Marx was a professing Christian in his youth and his first book was entitled, The Union of the Faithful with Christ. However beginning in his early 20’s a very sharp ‘U-turn’ was made by Marx in his theological outlook, to the point of abandoning his Christian faith and later embracing full scale Atheism. Proof of his recantation was later revealed in several of his personal poems where he expressed his disdain for almighty God…Cleary any love that Marx had for the Lord Jesus Christ was later turned to repulsion and his Communist Manifesto was written in defiance of his previously held Judeo-Christian values.17″ – Pastor Carl Subscribe to our Feed Want DHOP’s teachings sent directly to your iTunes podcast list? What is Righteousness?

Here’s a teaching snippet: “Have you noticed my podcast is called, ‘Reigning in Righteousness?’…There’s a reason for that. To the casual listener however, this title might sound a bit pretentious. But you might be saying, “are we not all weak worms of the dust Pastor? I thought we were sinners saved by Grace?” But friend, the reality is, we are the righteousness of God now and my purpose in each and every broadcast is to forge and solidify Christ’s righteousness in you. One of the most disturbing doctrines in Christianity today is ‘Calvinism,’ where the congregants of Calvinistic preachers are never really confronted with the true Gospel. I would say this represents almost half of the church as a whole. This mindset is rooted in a false teaching, where God has supposedly ‘foreordained’ those who will be saved and those who will not. Therefore in these churches, no invitations are offered from the pulpit to become ‘born again.’ There are a lot of assumptions going on; assumptions unfortunately that could result in many people never attaining salvation. Shockingly, the Pastors themselves may not be ‘born again’ just like the church I grew up in back home. In these churches there are seemingly no testimonies of a solid conversion experience, an encounter with the Holy Spirit or much else for that matter…” – Pastor Carl Subscribe to our Feed Want DHOP’s teachings sent directly to your iTunes podcast list? Listen to your heart

Here’s a teaching snippet: “If there’s one thing I want you to do this year… that is to listen to your heart. You know one of the most tragic things that can happen in a Christians life is going through the ‘day to day’ grind, but never discovering the real purpose of why God put you on this earth. Just because you’re ‘born again’ and ‘Spirit filled,’ doesn’t mean you’re going to fulfill the calling God has for you, unless you purposely seek out and discover God’s plan for yourself. Hebrews chapter twelve reveals there’s a specific ‘race’ that is set before you, that only you can run. I can’t run your race for you; neither can you run my race. I truly believe that learning to be led by the Holy Spirit in line with God’s word is the most important lesson we can learn in this lifetime and you need to learn it friend, in order to live out your purpose. By listening to your heart, you will better be able to navigate the course God has for you, but oftentimes we ignore our heart and ‘keep on plodding along’, much to our detriment.” – Pastor Carl Subscribe to our Feed Want DHOP’s teachings sent directly to your iTunes podcast list? Disturbing Trends

Here’s a teaching snippet: “This podcast will review some of the most disturbing trends in our society today. Whenever we desire to predict the future in science, engineering or culture for that matter, we often observe ‘trends.’ If we look that word ‘trend’ up in the dictionary, it means ‘to veer in a new direction,’ or ‘to extend in a general direction,’…But friend, are you not simply alarmed at some of the trends we see in culture today? Even in the past decade, seemingly the moral restraints have been ‘cast off’ and we’re headed in a direction that can only end up in a societal car wreck, if we don’t put the brakes on fast. There are trends in the moral realm, in the economy, in the weather, in fashion, disease, crime, social media, geopolitics, consumer spending, education, and a whole host of others that go to make up the very fabric of our existence. One of the trends I see unfortunately is an ‘apostasy’ or ‘moving away’ from core values upon which most Christian denominations were founded and our Judeo-Christian society as a whole. I believe this to be in direct correlation with the abandonment of God’s word which is the underlying foundation of our society. Right now, we are now reaping the seeds sown in the 1960’s in particular, when prayer was taken out of schools in unison with the explosion of the sex, drugs and rock n ‘roll culture.” – Pastor Carl Subscribe to our Feed Want DHOP’s teachings sent directly to your iTunes podcast list? Scriptures often taken out of context

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 16, 2018 14:09

Here’s a teaching snippet: “Our focus in this podcast is one of the most important aspects of studying God’s word and that is keeping scriptural verses within their proper context. By doing so we avoid misinterpreting key elements of God’s word and better glean the true message that God’s purveying in His Holy Writ. This contextual framework is something you should definitely consider in your own private devotional time because if you don’t, then it’s possible to come away with the wrong understanding from the scriptural passage in question. If you attend any Bible college or receive any kind of theological training then naturally a course on ‘hermeneutics’ is standard procedure for most students. Hermeneutics covers the methodological principles of the interpretation of any document and in our case that would be the Holy Bible. One of the primary laws of Bible interpretation is to determine the plain and evident meaning intended by the author, and that would be God in our case. Therefore, isolated scriptures that go against the general character of God warrant further study. As I’ve said multiple times before, “if the plain sense of the scripture makes sense, then seek no other sense.” Yet, in times past, foolish men have allegorized entire books of the Bible, alluding to a deeper ‘hidden’ meaning that simply doesn’t exist. In doing so, they’ve stripped God’s word of its literal meaning and led men down a path of confusion, despair and disillusionment.” – Pastor Carl Subscribe to our Feed Want DHOP’s teachings sent directly to your iTunes podcast list? Boundaries

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 14, 2018 14:10

Here’s a teaching snippet: “The title of this podcast might seem strange at first but I’ve thought at length recently about the importance of both establishing and enforcing boundaries in our lives. Now in order to be successful according to God’s definition (as the book of Proverbs attests especially), then we need to be practitioners of both discipline and diligence. Diligent to oversee and manage the various possessions we might own and the requisite maintenance for each vehicle we drive, for example. And diligent to watch over our families and perhaps the internet usage of our teenagers…need I say more. Diligent to do our part in the workplace by not cutting corners but going the extra mile when and where an opportunity arises. We also need to be disciplined in the areas of health, physical exercise, moral restraint, financial affairs and the various other components that go to make up the fabric of our everyday life. Yet I consider establishing boundaries as an important marker of success, especially in relationships and an essential aspect of discipline that often gets overlooked. In fact, these boundaries are mentioned in the Bible.” – Pastor Carl Subscribe to our Feed Want DHOP’s teachings sent directly to your iTunes podcast list? Subscribe here. Play Audio
