In Episode 8 we dive into branding and building a community. With April's recent trip to New York and having spent time with the incredible Gary Vee, both Em & April thought it'd be the perfect timing to discuss these topics. During this podcast we break the two down... First up, branding. This is the process of building something you stand for, something recognisable and something that shares a vision and values with the community (your audience) who love the brand. This leads us into the importance of building both a brand and a community. A community is a collection of people or an audience who feel a part of the journey. They love and champion the brand and within the community, there a loyal members which we call first fast followers. Tune in with your pen and paper, because this podcast is worth taking notes on.

In this episode Em & April discuss how you'll be using social media and other marketing outlets and platforms to reach your customers, consumers and leads over the next 12 months to 2 years, embracing change (it's inevitable online!) and why it's so important to be active and present where you consumers spend their time. Major platform changes, like the removal of likes, can have a massive impact of how you market and how you and your consumers interact with platforms and influential accounts. The world of technology, how you market and the platforms you can market on are constantly changing and evolving, and the consumer goes with them, you need to be the early adopter, you need to keep moving with your consumer. Embrace the change and take on the learning challenge ahead and it will serve you and your business. An interesting platform that has caught our eye via Gary Vee is: Text to Text communication platform, automated programming and communication in a consistent and authentic fashion with your consumer database via SMS. In the US, a brand-new start-up that has got Ashton Kutcher and Gary Vee excited is ‘Community'. This is just one platform that is connecting celebrities, influences, businesses and corporations with their ‘Tribe'. As we move into 2020, we encourage you to start thinking about what you're going to learn next! Is it Tik Tok, is it creating an excel spreadsheet with your consumers and leads details to get started on Text to Text? Or is it doing more (or your first!) Facebook lives, Instagram stories, or potentially whatever new internet craze happens upon us next cos... We can't stay doing what we've been doing and expect to keep coasting along as the world evolves and changes at dramatic pace, especially online! Episode Two: In this episode we discuss the importance of allowing your business to have an identity that is separate identity. It can be really easy to fall into the trap of allowing our own identity to be linked to our business identity. Business owners can create a belief that they ARE the business and therefore you take all your successes and failures in business as a personal reflection. How do you feel when your business receives a negative review? The business, product or service needs to exist in its own right. Imagine if you were an artist, painting a beautiful art piece on canvas. Now you are NOT that artwork. The artwork exists in its own right. You may be the creator, the director, the business owner, but you are NOT the business, product, service. They exist in their own right. Allowing your business to have its own identity, can really help you determine the tone, style, and personality of the business, that are not YOU.
In this episode Em & April discuss the initial phase of a new business start-up: The Idea Phase, the importance of knowing your WHY, and how you can financially and socially support yourself whilst your new venture gets up and running.
