Live from Pawnee: A Parks and Recreation Fan Rewatch Podcast
This week, Mark and Allen break down the Episode where Chris tells himself to ... STOP ... POOPING!!! The flu is sweeping across Pawnee, with Ann caring for many of the sick, including April (who still resents Ann for kissing Andy). While Ron visits April, she asks him not to tell Andy she's there. With April gone, Ron does ask Andy to fill in as an assistant, believing (correctly) that Andy will be ineffective. Meanwhile, Leslie is preparing for a presentation with the Pawnee Chamber of Commerce, and it becomes clear Leslie is not feeling well, but she won't admit it because of the importance of the presentation. Ben finally takes a reluctant Leslie to the hospital, Ann admits her, and Ben tells her not to worry, he and Tom will do the presentation, which Leslie is not happy about. A bit later, a flu-ridden Chris is checked into the hospital, having a total physical breakdown. Ann has been dating Chris, and really likes him, but fears he is too perfect... until now. Meanwhile, instead of helping Ben prepare for the presentation, Tom abandons him to hang out at a spa. As the day goes on, Ron and Andy bond over many things, including food, drink, football, and politics, with Andy eventually feeling comfortable enough with Ron to tell him about his problems with April. To top things off, a delirious and over-medicated Leslie escapes the hospital and heads back to City Hall to do the presentation herself! Never fear - as always, we answer all the questions others are afraid to even verbalize, such as ... Will April's constant poking at Ann make her break? Will Andy ever find out April is at the hospital? How will Ann feel about Chris now that he is essentially a puddle of goo? Does Tom ever come back from the spa? Will Leslie make it to City Hall? Will Ben decide to introduce himself musically? Will Ron and Andy ever successfully complete a passing play outside? Will the Harvest Festival fail before it even starts? Loyal podcast viewers, this is one of the BEST episodes of the series - fight us about it! Or, just tune in and enjoy it. Yes, that's probably better. Many thanks to our awesome sponsor, Big Head Joe's.

Led by the healthy buying in index heavyweights Reliance Industries and banking and financial counters, domestic benchmark indices edged higher for the second day in a row. Analysts believe stocks are up in anticipation of good quarterly earnings and improved outlook due to a hike in stock prices and demand. Concerns on the Covid front still lingered in the backdrop. Meanwhile, investor focus will shift to the US Fed's policy meet outcome slated for tomorrow. The BSE Sensex settled close to day's high at 558, up 48,944 points amid across the board buying. It had touched an intra-day high of 49,009. Meanwhile, NSE's Nifty50 shut shop 168 points higher at 14,653. With April derivative expiry approaching, and with Nifty option premiums not pricing much above 14700 for now, caution is recommended, said Anand James, Chief Market Strategist at Geojit Financial Services. L&T was the best performer in the 30-pack Sensex as it gained 3.53%. It was trailed by Bajaj Finance, SBI, IndusInd Bank, RIL and HDFC Bank that gained between 2-3%. On the downside, Maruti Suzuki emerged as the worst performer, down 1.28%, after the automaker's March quarter numbers disappointed investors. The company reported a standalone net profit of Rs 1,166.1 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2021 (Q4FY21). It was down 9.72 per cent from the previous year’s profit of Rs 1,291.7 crore. The numbers missed Street estimates by a huge margin as analysts had projected the PAT to grow anywhere between 37 per cent and 51 per cent YoY. Other Sensex losers were - NTPC, Nestle India, Kotak Bank and DRL. On the sectoral front, all indices ended in the green on NSE with Nifty Metals in the lead, up 2.7%, followed by Nifty PSU Bank index which added 2.3%. Nifty Pharma clocked the least gains among all at 0.7%. Broader markets, meanwhile, outperformed the benchmark with Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap indices rallying 1.57% and 1.74%, respectively. Among stock-specific action: Shares of Jindal Steel & Power scaled a fresh 52-week high of Rs 455.95 on the BSE after the company board approved divesting entire equity interest in subsidiary Jindal Power to Worldone, a promoter group company, for Rs 3,015 crore. The scrip settled the day at Rs 450.35, up 1.82%. Castrol India surged as much as 7% in intra-day trade after the firm reported a near doubling of net income for the quarter to March at Rs 243.6 crore as against Rs 125.2 crore a year ago, driven by robust revenue growth. The stock finally settled the day only 1.8% higher at Rs 127.50. Shares of State Bank of India climbed 2.82% after the firm said the company board will meet on April 28 to mull raising up to $2 billion. Shares of Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance and Britannia closed in the green ahead of their March quarter results later today. In other news, the US Chamber of Commerce warned that the Indian economy could falter as a result of a record spike in coronavirus cases, creating a drag for the global economy. Myron Brilliant, executive vice president of the Chamber said the risk of spillover effects was high given that many US companies employ millions of Indian workers to run their back-office operations. "We expect that this could get worse before it gets better," Brilliant told Reuters, citing a "real risk" the Indian economy would falter. Lastly, an update on the global markets. Shares dipped from record highs on Tuesday as optimism about the economic recovery was dented by caution ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy decision and a raft of earning updates. The MSCI world equity index, which tracks shares in 49 countries, fell 0.1%, following a muted session in Asia and slight early losses in Europe. S&P 500 futures rose almost 0.1% indicating a firm start for Wall Street.

News: Some of the rules at the parks will be updated when they reopen. Most notably, Disney reserves the right to request a guest to leave if they are not wearing an approved face covering, violating any of the existing park rules, or for using profanity or offensive language towards Cast Members or other guests. This is in response to the guests that have caused altercations in Walt Disney World upon it’s reopening. – https://blogmickey.com/2021/04/following-guest-outbursts-at-disney-world-disneyland-warns-against-profanity-towards-cast-members/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/16/news-disney-will-kick-guests-out-for-using-profanity-towards-others/ With the parks reopening in just over a week, the Disney Parks Blog has posted their Dining Guide. Select locations will open for dining booking on April 22nd, with limited capacity. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance. For a complete list of the locations that will be open, with links to the menus, check out the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/04/disney-parks-foodie-news-dining-guide-to-disneyland-resort-reopening/ One thing that the food guide does not explicitly touch on is the more limited menus when dining returns. Currently, the Plaza Inn only has fried chicken as an entree for example. Beignets are also disappearing from Cafe Orleans, making them only available at the Mint Julep Bar. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/19/no-beignets-there-are-some-major-menu-changes-at-this-disneyland-restaurant/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/20/we-hope-you-really-like-chicken-big-menu-changes-are-coming-to-this-disneyland-restaurant/ More locations are being added to the long list of locations accepting mobile ordering. The Tropical Hideaway, French Market Restaurant, and the Plaza Inn will now be mobile friendly. Studio Catering Company in DCA will also join this list. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/19/mobile-order-will-be-available-at-four-more-restaurants-when-disneyland-reopens/ Last minute dining reservations can now be secured through the mobile walk-up waitlist feature. This allows guests to get on a wait list for the location without having to interact with the host for the location. For now, it is only in place at Lamplight Lounge and Carthay Circle Lounge. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/20/theres-a-new-way-to-get-last-minute-dining-reservations-at-disneyland-resort/ Dining locations at the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, including GCH Craftsman Bar, GCH Craftsman Grill, and Hearthstone Lounge, will be open for dining, but you must be a hotel guest to eat there. The hotel, along with these locations, is reopening on April 29th, one day before the parks return. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/16/disneyland-hotel-dining-will-be-open-to-a-select-group-upon-reopening/ With limitations being put on who can enter the hotel areas of the resort, scan in gates are being added to the Disneyland Hotel entrances. These scan in gates are expected to be used in the evenings after the grounds close to the public to allow hotel guests only onto the property. – https://wdwnt.com/2021/04/photos-disneyland-hotel-will-be-open-to-all-guests-during-the-day-scan-in-gates-to-be-available-for-hotel-guests-at-night/ Visit Anaheim has some great deals listed on their site for local hotels. Some of the promotions include Legacy Passholder rates, regular discounts, and a free limited-edition Disneyland Resort castle stainless steel water bottle. These deals seem to run until June 30th, but act fast as they are sure to book up fast! Visit the link in the show notes for all the locations and deals! – https://www.visitanaheim.org/hotel-spring-promotions/ Last week, we talked about the updates coming to the Haunted Mansion, including updates and additions to the pet cemetery. Disney Parks posted some closer looks at this area of the attraction on their TikTok account, which WDW News Today posted on their site. – https://wdwnt.com/2021/04/video-closer-look-at-refurbished-pet-cemetery-at-the-haunted-mansion-in-disneyland/ Force sensitive folks who want to build their own lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop may find the price has gone up. In Florida, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the price just increased from $199 to $219 per builder. The price at Disneyland is still listed at $199, but that could change before reopening. – https://wdwnt.com/2021/04/handbuilt-lightsaber-price-increased-at-savis-workshop-in-disneys-hollywood-studios/ One of the last holdouts in Downtown Disney has reopened for guests. Splitsville Luxury Lanes returned this past week with some new health and safety measures. Bowling is open with limited availability, and indoor and outdoor dining is open. Like most other locations, plexiglass has been installed where groups might be close together, face masks must be worn except for when eating and drinking, and a lot of sanitation will be utilized. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/04/photos-splitsville-luxury-lanes-reopens-with-enhanced-health-and-safety-measures-at-downtown-disney-district/ With April being Earth Month, Disney has announced that some of its classic dolls will be packaged without plastic, and instead use 100% recyclable packaging. The dolls with this packaging will be available at shopDisney, select Disney Stores, and Disney Parks. Also, someone in the comments noticed that they included a boy and a girl playing with the dolls, which helps to normalize those who wish to do so. – https://www.instagram.com/p/CN2bYIjjwum/ Discussion Topic: Original Fantasmic! With April's recent trip to New York and having spent time with the incredible Gary Vee, both Em & April thought it'd be the perfect timing to discuss these topics. During this podcast we break the two down... First up, branding. This is the process of building something you stand for, something recognisable and something that shares a vision and values with the community (your audience) who love the brand. This leads us into the importance of building both a brand and a community. A community is a collection of people or an audience who feel a part of the journey. They love and champion the brand and within the community, there a loyal members which we call first fast followers. Tune in with your pen and paper, because this podcast is worth taking notes on.

So is it not with me as with that Muse Stirr’d by a painted beauty to his verse, Who heaven itself for ornament doth use, And every fair with his fair doth rehearse, Making a couplement of proud compare With sun and moon, with earth and sea’s rich gems, With April’s first-born flowers, and all things rare That heaven’s air in this huge rondure hems. O, let me, true in love, but truly write, And then believe me, my love is as fair As any mother’s child, though not so bright As those gold candles fix’d in heaven’s air: Let them say more that like of hearsay well, I will not praise that purpose not to sell.

With April drawing to a middle, we have reached the end of this month's not-so-series of interviews. Last week we brought you the fun-filled look at Yacht Club Games, and the making of Shovel Knight. On this week's edition, we're bringing you a look at the world of VR and a brief gander at Australian game development, as we're talking to Justine Colla. Our topics for the night included what got her into gaming, the growth and progress of VR, and whether that platform is niche or here to stay. Justine, formerly of Atla VR and now at Suprise Attack Games, isn't just a game developer and marketer; no sir! If you've checked out her Twitter page recently, you would know she is totally secretly a huuuuuuge wrestling mark. (We mean that from a place of love, as half of our podcast team identifies with that lifestyle as well.) She's not just into wrestling and WWE content, but is also an accomplished wrestling fan artist with a following knowing her as the "cruiserweight mom". While this episode started off a little slowly -- Skype had large delays with the Arizona to Australia connection -- it shaped up to be one of our favorite chats so far in 2017. Give it a watch, give it a listen, and then make sure to swing by our iTunes page and drop off a review. We'll love you forever if you did. You can find more out about Justine Colla on her website or Twitter, and can support her wrestling fan art habits on her storefront or her super awesome Patreon. Tell her we sent you, because we want her to come back again for more chats. Seriously, Josh had a dream Monday night where she helped relaunch ConCal Armbar! with him and Ryan. It was a really great dream from what we've heard.

With April behind us, you might feel a sense of relief since you won’t have to deal with anything tax-related for a while. But just because you’ve completed your taxes for the year doesn’t mean you’re done with tax planning. Your tax return can tell you a lot about your financial life. In fact, we like to think of it as the window into all of your most important financial decisions. On this episode, we’ll help you put together your tax planning toolbox by sharing what you need to know to take as many deductions as possible, identify tax savings opportunities, and so much more!
People with autism — children and adults alike — as well as people with other cognitive or developmental disabilities are less likely to commit a crime than others, but they are likely to come into contact with police due to a variety of reasons. For example, ASD individuals may be bullied or victimized, they may go missing (especially ASD children), and might be prone to have emotional outbreaks. With April being Autism Awareness Month, Jim and Doug discuss some of the issues related to officer contact with ASD subjects.

Today we talk about marketing lessons we can learn from a small Zoo I visited this week. We also hear about how families are starting to podcast together. With April 1st right around the corner, Steve Stewart is having fun reaching out to new audiences. We also talk about when and how to bring in additional content. Because of my Podcast: I'm Spenind More Time With My Family [2:20] Mark Dowing enjoys doing a podcast with his family. They do a podcast on Geo Caching. He gets to hang out with his kids, and his kids are starting to take over some of the technical aspects. They've met other people in the geocaching communities and podcasting communities. They are also being asked to appear on other podcasts. The family that podcasts together lasts forever. Member Spotlight: Quality Living Made Simple [6:34] Today we spotlight Joshua Rivers and the Quality Living Made Simple podcast where he helps you to create and maintain a better quality of live with simplicity. April Fools Podcast Promotion[7:44] Steve Stewart from Money Plan SOS podcast and www.yesyoucanpodcasttoo.com is switching podcasts with other podcasts. It's similar to guest posting on a blog, it sounds like the regular podcast but then some other host comes on board. So the audience will get the same type of information from a different host. Steve reached out via twitter and facebook, and only a few people responded. Like always the people that you have established relationships that aid in having someone trust you enough to let you spend time in front of their audience. To find out more about this you check it out on Steve's blog at www.yesyoucanpodcasttoo.com/aprilfools (on April 1st). Are Entrepreneur Podcasts A Podcasting Fad?[14:32] We have spoken about the John Lee Doomis Effect (based on a post by Steve, and later we did a Podcaster's Roundtable), and we have seen a fair amount of "on fire" type podcasts come on board (as I had predicted they would). We have seen a wave of tech shows, then the comedians, and now we have the entrepreneurs. While podcasting is a fad, I worry that in about three months when people aren't making the kind of money that John Lee Doomis is, they will declare "Podcasting is Dead" and explain how it doesn't work (probably because they don't have the one thing John has - talent and personality). One of the key points about John Lee Doomis is when John's show came out he was doing a DAILY show. THIS WAS NEW back then. Now when people do that, it may not be quite as big a deal. You can read the transcript to the John Lee Doomis effect. How My Trip to the Zoo Can Improve Your Podcast [25:50] When I was growing up in Akron Ohio I went to the local "Akron Zoo." Later when it fell upon harder times it was known as the "Akron Children's Zoo" (because it was a glorified petting zoo). This week I did a bunch of computer training there and they have really turned it around? Well they've could've gone, "The Cleveland Zoo is only an hour away, and it's so big you have to ride a tram to other parts of the park." The didn't. While there are many reasons for Zoos to exist (education, and species survival), the instead thought about what people want from a zoo. What do visitors want from a zoo. The answer is somewhat obvious when you think about it. Visitors from the Zoo pay money to get content they can't get any place else. You get to see animals that you can't see at the local dog park. But then they took it further. Sure they could've been happy with getting a Grizzly Bear, and a Tiger, a Jaguar. But isn't that what all Zoos have? So again, they thought the the eyes of their audience. What do Zoo members want? They want to get close to the animals. So when they began rebuilding the Zoo, the made exhibits with one thing in mind. Make a great habitat for the animal, and design it so the animal will be close the the visitors. I explained how it was so bizarre as the one day I had lunch with the Grizzly bear. The only thing separating me and the bear was some very thick glass. It was cool. He was big. When I told someone about it and how he was taking a bath, they explained that is why we put the pool there next to the window. They put all of the animals favorite items (like food) next to the places where people stand to view them. If it's an animal that sleeps alot (like a Lion) they put their beds in a place where everyone can see. They always think through the eyes of their audience, and try to give them an experience they will be talking about (just like I am right now). They Renamed The Zoo They went from being "Akron Children’s Zoo"in the 1950's to "Akron Zoological Park" in 1979. They "Niched Down" The theme of North and South American Animals was adopted giving the zoo a stable base for our education and conservation goals. For many years, all exhibits and educational materials centered around this theme. They Go To Where Their Target Audience is, and Make it Easy to Consume Their Content There are two types of people that enjoy the Zoo. I mean that scream with joy and laughter at the Zoo. One are small children. The other is the people who are laughing at the small children who are screaming at the Penguins. They offer discounts for groups of 15 or more (like elementary school classes) as well as discounts for Grandparents. They Are Not Afraid to Try New Things They also try a lot of things. They put up Christmas lights at the Zoo for a few years. It was beautiful, but in the end it didn't go over. They should be proud that they tried something new. Then they looked at their facilities and realized that some people are looking for something different and they opened their Zoo for after hour parties. You can hold your wedding in their beautiful gardens. The More Niche the Content - The Greater the Value You can get a behind the scenes tour of certain exhibits. You can tour all five facilities for a gift of $500 or choose three facilities for $350 or one facility for $200. The picture on their website shows someone touching one of the giant tortoise. Should I Add More Episodes To My Podcast Per Week[42:50] Jackie Ulmer wants to know if she should start a new podcast to house additional episodes. For me, I start to fragment my content into More Podcast Money and the Power of Podcasting. Then my audience said, "Why are you making it hard for me to find your content?" So I brought all that content into this podcast. As all of that content is related (podcasting) it fit. I wouldn't do my weight loss content here, so I made a separate podcast. If you're not sure, use a free tool like Poll Daddy (Owned by Wordpress) and ask them. Take the Survey I'm trying to find out more about you and what you need so I can give you what you need to move your podcast into a larger audience. Please take a quick second to answer a quick podcasting survey. This is going to help me come up with materials that you need to expand your podcast audience, avoid more technical headaches, and create the best sounding content for the least amount of money. It's only 10 questions, so if you could please help me help you
