This podcast is about breaking the facade of perfect parenting and remind fathers that you aren't alone when you fail. It seems more and more these days as dads are being more involved with their children, they often feel secluded and not able to vent their weakness or frustrations without sounding…
In this podcast, I break down another devotional by Oswald Chambers. What happens when we rely on God to solely motivate us through vision. God will give us a vision of something and we become motivated to walk in it, but then we can get sidetracked and wait on God to give us another vision so we can keep moving. I think of Abraham and how God gave him the vision and Abraham had to have faith to believe God and stay with it.
How is our drive for success hindering our walk with God? How is it changing the way we do everyday life? The word "SUCCESS" can be very deceiving, and I have often found a sour filter on how I approach everyday life and, most importantly, in my walk with God. In this podcast, I dive into My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers and unpack his devotional about this subject.
In this episode I break down a devotional in My Utmost for His Highest and what it means to build character Gods way or how we can fall in the trap of pursuit the devils way.
How often do I find myself struggling to do the things I want to do, but not with the things I don't want to do. There is a war going on within us, our natural sin nature. In this episode, I talk about how I struggle to do the things of value, but will absolutely settle on activities that bring zero value. We have the victory in Jesus, but why is there a struggle? I explore it in this episode.
Well, let me be honest...I struggle to give my finances to the Lord. My reasons and excuses are many but the fact is I am not giving to God what He gave first. In this podcast, I am going to be talking about my giving journey. The Lord says to test me on this, and I have to say that He has shown Himself faithful.
What happens after the mountaintop experience? How does the faith journey continue? Unpacking these things and what I'm learning in my walk with God coming back from the mountain. Walking in my purpose and resting in Him, has been challenging, but so important in my relationship with Jesus.
Well, I am big into John Eldredge and also reading the book Becoming King by Morgan Snyder. I felt God calling me on an adventure to go backpacking through Zion. It was the concepts of these books that led me to the thought, but it did not go as planned. I was not ready for what happened or prepared. It was an adventure that broke my mind, but in the process cleared my mind and renewed my strength in God and leading me to hear his voice and see his beauty and find purpose. All in this episode.
Teaching my daughter to read has been one of the greatest accomplishments in my life. I am proud to see how far she has come and in this journey. She taught me something very valuable about being her teacher.
I had enough! Toys everywhere, paper, pens, crayons, books... it's all a mess and it's going away. Let's see how this goes...
Well, I'm back. Because i missed just coming here and speaking from the heart, not having scripts, or having to be on point. But just speaking. I found it was actually relieving to come without an agenda but just the idea to share what I've been going through.
Alrighty gents! This is it the final show for THIS podcast. Take a listen and see where I am going from here. Real Confidence is not based upon the opinion of others, it is rooted in yourself and in who you know you are. Is that it for you? Because it wasn't for me...
Are you feeling like a failure? Feeling the weight of not living up to what you know you can be as a father or husband...Me too...
Well, I am back after a 3-week Hiatus! In this episode I talk about why I was gone and then dive into something that I found was stealing my joy in comparing myself to someone else and how that can ultimately hurt us and not help us if done in the wrong mindset.
In today's episode i have my son with me and we talk about moments vs minutes. What kids really remember in the time they spend with their parents.
Last week I talked about the danger of having expectations on your Father, this time its about the dangers of having expectations on youself.
What happens when we have unmet expectations on our Fathers? In this episode, I talk about how we can hinder our relationship with our Fathers as well as our own journey to healing and moving forward when we have expectations placed on our Father.
Do you have men in your life helping you along the path of manhood? There are soo many obstacles in the path of becoming a better husband, father, man, member of society, etc. It is important that we have someone holding us accountable because ultimately it will help us to get better and grow more. In this episode, I talk about some of the men who are holding me accountable in different areas and what that looks like for me.
Dad you need anger management...words I heard from my children yesterday as I was being pushed to the edge in my patience I Bruce Lee'd a mixing bowl. That's all I have to say about that...in typing I mean, check out the podcast for full disclosure.
So...I have been on this crazy journey that started well before I even read this book. The book is Wild at Heart by John Eldredge and it has been a wild ride to say the least. Instead of going on and on about how I came to this book, your just going to have to listen. Because to be quite honest I don't want to write out a big old bio.
Hey kids, how about we do a homeschool project and you guys can organize your legos? Do you like your legos? Do you want to keep your legos? Can you see where this is going? What should have been a great learning/homeschool task, turned into a disaster. But in that disaster, some hard lessons were learned. Many emotions were felt and they were mostly from me....
So often I find myself getting upset at my children for acting a certain way. In reality, I too, have these emotions and act them out, but in a "grown-up" sort of way. In this podcast, I unpack some of those raw emotional feelings and share how I deal with them. It's a great lesson in having empathy for our children, instead of scolding them about being in the wrong. As Jesus said (and I'm paraphrasing) "Don't point out the speck in someone's eye when in fact you have a plank in yours".
Hello everyone! In this episode, I talk about the importance of self-care and the struggle I am having with it. I think as Men, Husbands, Fathers we can get caught up in serving our family or trying to meet their needs, but it is also important to take care of our needs. So that we can be mentally and physically healthy to be able to meet the needs of our families.
Like the world, you have suddenly found your self or your spouse homeschooling your kids. Are they driving you crazy? Is the pressure to much to keep up with the school curriculum? Are you doing enough? Well, I have 5 tips from an amazing Homeschooling mom that I believe can help give perspective at this time.
We are officially in unknown waters. COVID-19 is a worldwide pandemic and the question is "How are you leading your family". In this episode, I share some pitfalls I have run into and what I am doing to better Lead, my Family.
Want to know what my son thinks of homeschool? Or how he rates my parenting on a 1-10 scale? Check out this awesome episode with my son.
What do Frozen 2 and my family and I have in common? We are both wondering how do I follow you (God), into the unknown! We are making a major move out of state for our family and in this episode I talk about how its all going down.
How as men are we to be leading our families? What is the deal with self-sacrifice? Is it healthy or not? In this episode, I talk about the role or men and our duty to our families.
Anxiety has been a HUGE topic lately, it seems more and more people are having it. Men these days are being overcome with anxiety and having no real way to deal with it or even feel open enough to communicate about it. Anxiety is close to me as I have walked with my wife through it, and in this journey, I met Pastor Phil Moreno who was also going through anxiety. I think this episode is as important as ever because as men it can be hard to process our feelings or even admit to having anxiety. Through his openness about it, I was able to have a better understanding of it and was able to come alongside my wife and support her knowing it was more then what I thought I perceived it to be.
I took my son with me to get an oil change, and what happened was beyond magical. Hear all about it and what I learned from something that could have been boring and had no impact on my son.
In this episode, I talk about a few episodes in which I have had to apologize to my kids. It can be hard because as parents we probably think we are right most of the time (and we probably are) but it doesn't mean we can't make mistakes or even lose OUR patience. Apologizing to my kids has been one of the most rewarding and humbling things I have done to improve our relationship and in a sense redeem myself as a Father.
My son wanted to go running with me and I was reluctant to let him... Why? Because I didn't want to be slowed down ( I was currently pacing at 10:30, not the best time). But it turned out to be a big life lesson. It made me think of the journey of fatherhood and how it relates to running. Emotionally, physically and mentally. Needless to say, I came back refreshed, enlightened, and with a different perspective. My son came back a champion of the day! So take a listen and take your kid on a crazy run.
Why do we homeschool? Why are we weird? Often that is the case when it comes to homeschool...I know I thought that...at first. In this episode, I talk about why we started homeschooling our kids and fast forward 3 years why we are still homeschooling our kids. A lot changed for us (mainly me), in this journey. So if you are a homeschooling dad maybe you can relate to some of the challenges I faced, or if you don't homeschool your kids you can get a glimpse into homeschooling life and why for our family it is something we are passionate about. Failure...is that a word that scares you? Is it a word that makes you feel ashamed? It shouldn't and in fact, we should embrace fear! Failure is an opportunity it teaches you to be resilient and face all odds. Achieving success after failures shows you how mentally strong and capable you really are. Failure shows us everywhere we might have gone wrong and guess us the opportunity to correct it. You become a confident and a compassionate person overall! This is not my words, but its what is found when looking up failure on google. The purpose of this podcast is to Fail but to Fail Forward as dads we will inevitably fail, but that's ok...join the club and let's do this journey together!
So I launched my podcast a few weeks ago, but I just recently launched my podcast to my friends and family (duh duh DUHHHHHHHH). Anyways I received some comments that made me see that the clarity of my podcast was not there. So allow me to rebrand and bring some more clarity. The goal is to recognize our failures and MOVE FORWARD! I think in the beginning it could have been seen more as beating myself down and self-deprecation. So with that, I decided to bring more clarity to myself and the podcast in this new episode. If you like the track on this podcast you can hear that and much more, just search for JAWSH CRESPO on SoundCloud. Also big thanks for my artwork, you can check out more at JOEBILLIGDESIGN.COM
Is our role as dad important? You bet! In this episode, I got over some facts of the importance of being a Father and how that can affect our children and on a global level SOCIETY! The pressure is on...but don't let all that get to you because 15 min can make the change in a kid's life! We fail, but every day is a new chance to start again. Big thanks to my cousin JAWSH CRESPO for the track "The Dive" you can find more of his great work in Sound Cloud. Also my boy at JOEBILLIGDESIGN.COM for my artwork.
