Memphis rapper Duke Deuce pulls up to The Progress Report to give a powerful and transparent interview. After a 3-year break from music, Duke is back with his brand-new album REBIRTH — and he's bringing a whole new energy. In this episode, Duke speaks on:
Horror fans, your favorite nightmare-inducing podcast is back! After a refreshing summer break, we're ready to plunge back into the depths of horror cinema – both the critically acclaimed gems and the delightfully terrible misfires that make us question our life choices.Mark your calendars for September 13th when the full Screams and Streams crew reunites to kick off our return with Wes Craven's meta-horror masterpiece "New Nightmare" (1994). This fan-favorite marks our re-entry into 90s horror territory, and we couldn't be more excited to dissect what made this self-referential Freddy Krueger revival so significant. Don't worry, we're also subjecting ourselves to "Leprechaun 2" immediately after – because we believe in balance, and what better way to appreciate great horror than by contrasting it with something truly painful? We've got an exciting lineup planned as we continue through the 90s, including a special fan-suggested Christmas horror film that's been on Mike's personal wishlist for ages. Speaking of suggestions – they're pouring in through our website, and we love it! While we tackle films chronologically (which means some patience may be required), every suggestion gets added to our master queue. Follow us on Instagram @ScreamStreamPod for trailer highlights, movie updates, and our signature "sinister sips" recipes that pair perfectly with each frightful feature. Ready your blankets to hide under, prepare your horror hot takes, and join us next week as we return to our regular schedule of screams! Have you ever felt that gut-wrenching mix of sadness and pride when your favorite performer announces they're leaving their group? That complex emotional rollercoaster is exactly what I'm unpacking in this special solo episode. The Japanese idol industry has a beautiful way of framing member departures - not as endings but as "graduations." This perspective transforms what could be seen as loss into a celebration of growth and new beginnings. When a familiar face moves on from their group to pursue acting, modeling, or another passion, it creates ripples throughout both the group dynamic and the fan community. The chemistry shifts, the sound evolves, and we're all left navigating this new reality together. As both a media personality and a dedicated fan, I've experienced this transition from multiple angles. I've seen how social media platforms light up with tribute videos and farewell messages, how concerts become emotional gatherings where memories are cherished and hopes for the future take root. These shared experiences bind fan communities together in a uniquely powerful way. We learn to hold both nostalgia and anticipation simultaneously - honoring what was while embracing what might be. Because ultimately, these transitions remind us that our idols are real people growing and changing just like us. Their stories continue to unfold, just in different ways than before.Whether you're currently processing a favorite member's departure or simply curious about the emotional landscape of fan culture, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this universal experience. Quiero quedarme

Send us a textWe're back! After completing both bachelor's and master's degrees, moving cities, and changing jobs, the podcast has returned from its year-long hiatus. Though the break wasn't planned, it allowed for tremendous personal growth while listeners continued discovering and downloading episodes throughout the quiet period. The podcast returns with exciting new developments including a Patreon membership at $7/month offering ad-free episodes, early access, merchandise discounts, and exclusive "Your Whey of Life" episodes featuring interviews with listeners about their goals and achievements. Rather than creating complex membership tiers, all supporters receive the same comprehensive benefits at one unchanging price point.Future plans include an ambitious expansion into Spanish-language episodes once fluency is achieved, increasing episode frequency beyond the guaranteed weekly Wednesday releases, and developing a robust merchandise line beyond the current offerings. All revenue from Patreon, sponsorships, and merchandise will be reinvested directly into improving the podcast's quality and international reach. Several interview episodes are already being scheduled, though most upcoming content will remain solo educational episodes designed to provide maximum value to listeners.Want to be part of this journey? I decided to take a break from recording my podcast that ended up lasting much longer than I expected. Here's what I learned about taking a break and coming back from your podcast or anything in your business you aren't enjoying. Since the break ended up being about 9 months, I came up with 9 lessons for a nice juicy first episode back! I can't wait to be back and share more of my tips, lessons, and perspectives on online business, sales, branding, and time management for overthinkers!

Hello and welcome to another episode of the Wise Not Withered podcast. I actually recorded a first draft of this episode back in May, but never posted it. In reviewing and trying to edit that episode, I noticed that I went on so many tangents, feeling really guilty about this announcement, and basically trying to prove to myself that it was okay. And the episode was too long! So here is a shorter and sweeter version, read to you from my Notes app where I'm much better able to piece my thoughts coherently and succinctly. I'm officially going on hiatus. I realized I was taking on too many projects, and for now I would like to focus my efforts on music therapy grad school, teaching, and building my career. Wise Not Withered has been a passion project for almost seven years, and I'm so proud of what we've done. If you're new to the podcast, or if you've listened to a few episodes, thank you for being here, AND please go back and listen to more! There are amazing character showcases, interviews with all kinds of interesting, wise women, and more. You can truly do so much in seven years! I don't know when I'll be back, but a few things that happened this year made me realize my heart isn't FULLY in the project anymore right now. It's not an issue of if but when I return to the project. I'll continue compiling ideas, such as interviewing music therapists, or writing about the resilience and strength I witnessed in older women during my music therapy internship at a large hospital last year. There are many directions this project could go in, and I'm already excited to see what comes next. I also wanted to officially announce that I will also be changing the name of the project. I think Wise Not Withered is very bold and defiant, and makes a statement. I also realize that I want to focus on what I want to focus on. So rather than what older women are not, focus on what they ARE, and that is Wise and Worthy. Haven't quite figured out how the name change will look across all the websites and other online presences, but we'll figure that out sometime later! I have time to figure it out :) Thanks for tuning in, and you will hear me next time. Bye-bye!

We've hit another milestone in our podcast journey: 75 episodes. At the same time, we find ourselves at a bit of a crossroads, which is leading us to prepare to take a hiatus. Join host CH as she reflects on the life journal podcast journey so far - sharing immense gratitude for our loyal community of C17'ers. She also shares the reasons why we feel we need to take a break and reassess the direction of the show as we navigate the ever-changing 2025 socio-political climate, and its impact on how we aim to share the personal narratives on which this podcast was founded. This episode is still in the vein of being a warm hug to our listeners, and still encouraging self-care and kindness amidst all of these very challenging times. Whether you are just finding us for the first time or have been with us from the beginning, we invite you to join us in celebrating our 75th episode ... even if it might be our last for a while. Show Notes In this episode, CH references Boston College professor and historian, Heather Cox Richardson. For those interested, Heather has a Substack called, "Letters from an American" as well as a YouTube channel. Superman (2025): Ethics, Hope, and the Power of Choice • A Special Hiatus EpisodeMatthew and Riki welcome frequent guest Jessica Plummer to a discussion of James Gunn's take on Superman, exploring how this version challenges both the character and audiences to think differently about power, responsibility, and hope.Key Ethical Questions We ExploreShould Superman intervene in international conflicts? The hosts examine the film's most compelling scene: Lois Lane's hard-hitting interview with Superman about his decision to stop a military invasion. This sequence raises fundamental questions about sovereignty, journalism, and the responsibility that comes with ultimate power. The discussion reveals how the film sits in the tension between idealism and pragmatism, ultimately landing on Superman's simple but powerful argument: "People are dying."What makes this Superman different from previous versions? Unlike other portrayals that emphasize Superman's alien heritage as a source of wisdom, this film flips the script. Here, Krypton's message promotes authoritarian rule, making Superman's choice to embrace the values taught by Martha and Jonathan Kent entirely his own decision. This shift gives Clark Kent true agency as a hero, something the hosts argue has been missing from previous films. What role should journalism play in holding heroes accountable? Lois Lane's portrayal as an investigative journalist who challenges Superman creates a fascinating dynamic. The hosts discuss how her questions—while sometimes cynical—ultimately make Superman a better hero, and how their relationship models the importance of being challenged by those we love and respect. For fans of ethical philosophy, superhero narratives, or anyone interested in how entertainment shapes our moral imagination, this episode provides both entertainment and genuine food for thought about what it means to be good in a complicated world.Regular Episodes Return in September! **************************************************************************This episode is a production of Superhero Ethics, a The Ethical Panda Podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network.
