According to Noah Webster, Zeal is the Passionate ardor in the pursuit of any thing; it is an eagerness of desire to accomplish or obtain some object. Zeal that accomplishes good and godly things must be rooted in knowledge and be disciplined. Today we will throw off impulsive fervor and learn why knowledge is critical when living zealously for the Lord. --------------Zeal for God must be rooted in knowledge and discipline.Francis Turretin Four reasons why our zeal must be rooted in knowledge:That we may distinguish truth from falsehood, as there may be zeal for error and false doctrine as well as for that which is true; That we may understand the comparative importance of things, so as not to make much of what is little, and make little account of what is great; That we may prosecute and defend the truth in the right way, with prudence, firmness, fidelity, and meekness; That our zeal may have the right object, not our own interest and reputation, but the glory of God and the salvation of men. Discipline directs our passions back to God's will. We lay down our ways before God and direct our zeal through His will. ----------My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambershttps://utmost.org/updated/do-it-yourself-2/Read the Bible with me!sheprovesfaithful.com/bibleSupport the showLove wellness products for your whole family? What comes to mind when you think about Easter? In this series of daily Tent Talk episodes, Nancy provokes us to quiet ourselves and reflect on the true meaning of Christ's resurrection. Drawing from J. Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, she reminds us that the resurrection is a daily reality: we were crucified and resurrected with Christ, giving us a fresh start as a new creation. Jesus came, sent by the Father, to deal with every inch of the curse that brings separation between God and people. But are we truly living in the fullness of that new life? Let's quiet our flesh and allow the slow fire of His presence to work within us. Here we go! Thanks for Listening! "Are you debating whether to take a step in faith in Jesus or to wait until you can see how to do the thing yourself? Obey Him with glad reckless joy. When He says something and you begin to debate, it is because you have a conception of His honour which is not His honour. Are you loyal to Jesus or loyal to your notion of Him?" In Florida this week, we have been experiencing a lot of thunder. This brought my attention to Psalm 29 where David assures us that the thundering we hear is the voice of our Heavenly Father. At the end of Psalm 29, David tells us that we can have Shalom in the midst of the storm. A reading from Oswald Chambers in My Utmost for His Highest assures us that the clouds are but the dust of our Heavenly Father's footsteps. Where we see clouds, we can be reassured that our Father is nearby. The music is from the album, "All Nature Sings" on the track labeled "Thunder," and I pray that you are blessed, and that Shalom reigns in your life. We are looking at seven lessons we can learn from the Joshua 13-21 as we are claiming our inheritance that God has promised us in Christ. The first lesson we learned from the twelve tribes receiving their inheritance, is from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. They chose their inheritance on the border on the east side of the Jordan River. We don't want to become borderline believers. In Joshua 14:6-14 we notice our second lesson which is, we should be encouraged in our pilgrim journey because no matter how long we must wait our inheritance is still available! Today, we will discover our third lesson from Caleb and his request for the mountain and the city of Hebron where the giants still lived. Caleb said that he was now eighty-five years old but was as strong as he was on the day that Moses sent him to spy out the Promise Land forty-five years earlier (vv. 10-11). The lesson for us is that we are never too old to accomplish God's will for our lives and fulfill the vision, the calling, and purpose He has given us. The key to Caleb's success and strength is easy to find in this passage. First when you read through these nine verses you will find that the LORD is mentioned ten times. Caleb wasn't thinking about problems, about mountains, about giants, and about obstacles! Caleb was thinking about the LORD. His mind was fixed on Jehovah, the Great I Am! The Book of Hebrews was written to encourage Jewish believers who were about to quit their spiritual journey because of the problems they were facing. The writer said in Hebrew 2:9, “But we see Jesus….”. In Hebrews 12:2, he went on to tell them, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”. He was reminding them to get their eyes fixed on Jesus rather than their problems. Paul reminds us in Colossians 3:1-4, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” Again, no matter how tired we are, or how old we feel, or how big the problems are, we need to focus on our great Redeemer and LORD who will never leave us or forsake us. Secondly, Caleb followed the LORD with his whole heart! This is mentioned three times in the above passage, and at least six times in the Scriptures. I like how Oswald Chambers in the devotional, “My Utmost for His Highest”, puts it: “The moment that we by faith obey the Word of God to do the will of God, we are energized and by the Holy Spirit to accomplish the impossible.” Today I would also encourage you to read the entire chapter of Psalm 27 and you will see the same principles at work in David's life and success. David ends the chapter with these words, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! (Psalm 27:13-14). We are never too old to accomplish God's purpose and will for our lives! God bless!

If you're feeling overwhelmed or frustrated when it comes to writing and marketing your book, know that you're not alone.Every published author I've ever met has had to deal with fluctuating emotions, doubts, time constraints, decision fatigue, and information overload throughout the various stages of their writing journeys.Yet it is estimated that 500,000 new self-published books were released last year by U.S. authors alone. Assuming that some authors wrote multiple books in one year, that means at least a quarter of a million people were able to push past all the challenges and overwhelm to successfully write and self-publish their books. You can, too.On today's episode, I'm going to share a SIMPLER way to write – and market – your book.Resources Mentioned in this Episode:Bookworthy Academy WaitlistSelf-Publishing Checklist - FREE 2-page resourceYour Path to Publishing - FREE 9-page guide to help you determine if traditional, hybrid, or self-publishing is right for you.The Inkwell membership - weekly writing sessions and monthly Craft ChatsOswald Chambers's My Utmost for His Highest devotional * (affiliate link) *Additional Writing/Self-Publishing Resources:1:1 Coaching Session - gain strategy and clarity; limited slots availableConnect with Your Host, Dalene Bickel:Email: info@inkandimpact.comInstagram: @dalenebickelWebsite: inkandimpact.comThanks for listening! For most Christians, the renowned ministry and writings of Oswald Chambers bring to mind his international best-selling devotional, My Utmost for His Highest. However, little is said of his better half–his wife Biddy–who had perhaps even bigger faith and perseverance than her famous husband. In this episode, Tracie is joined by Abigail Medford, as they share the amazing life story of Biddy Chambers (and a little bit of Oswald, too). Her life being a testament of huge faith in action, Biddy Chambers fully immersed herself in her husband's work as his ministry companion, despite the disappointments, danger, death, and sacrifices necessary to see others come to Christ! ***Listen to Episode #89 for Part 2!*** As mentioned in the intro of this episode, the first North Florida Baptist Ladies Conference will be held on April 12 & 13, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida! 16 O LORD, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD. The Jewish nation has one day a year set apart to observe Passover. This is a day set apart to remember how God through His mighty power and miracles delivered the nation of Israel out of the land of bondage. They were set free to worship Jehovah in the way that He prescribed. Psalm 116 is associated with this yearly observance. It was a part of the Hallel or Hallelujah psalms that would be read or sung before and after the Passover meal. We are about to close out an old year and begin a new one. This is a great time for us to reflect on the love, mercy, and goodness of the LORD and remember what is really important in life. The psalmist in this psalm seems to be focused on making sure his priorities are right, especially in these last verses of the chapter. He reminds himself that he is not free to serve himself and live for the pleasures of the flesh. He is the servant of Jehovah and realizes it his duty to live to please Him. He has been “loosed from the bondage” of sin and the flesh by the blood of the Lamb and is eternally grateful and thankful! After he recognizes his position of a servant and his freedom from bondage, he makes some “I will” statements to chart the course of his future. “I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving”. “I will call upon the name of the LORD”. “I will pay my vows to the LORD…”. As we close out an old year this would be a good time for us to recognize our covenant relationship with the Lord and our position as His servants. We are not free from sin's bondage to do what we want to do and what pleases us, but we are free to serve our great and awesome God! This is a good time for us to surrender our will to His will! Jesus prayed, “Not my will but thy will be done”, and so should we. God desires and seeks for us to worship Him in “spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24). We do this by taking the time every day to seek to know Him better through His Word and prayer and communion with Him. Andrew Murray in his devotional book, “God's Best Secrets” encourages us to have a quiet time each day as he comments on Ecclesiastes 3:1; “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” He says: “It should be the aim of every Christian to set aside a little time each day for quiet communion with God. A time for everything, and shall there be no time to spend in the presence of the Creator of all things? No time to contemplate His will and purposes for us? The holy, loving God is indeed worthy of the best of our time, and of all our time. We should live in constant fellowship with Him, but each day there should be a special time of quiet when we are with Him alone.” “We need a period daily for secret fellowship. Time to turn from daily occupation and search our hearts in His presence. Time to study His Word with reverence and godly fear. Time to seek His face and ask Him to make Himself known to us. Time to wait until we know that He sees and hears us so that we can make our wants known to Him in words that come from the depth of our hearts. Time to let God deal with our special needs, to let His light shine in our hearts, to let ourselves be filled with His Spirit!” (From his December 26 Devotional) I again want to encourage my friends to visit my website where you can connect with daily devotionals from Oswald Chamber's, “My Utmost for His Highest”, and Henry and Richard Blackaby's, “Experiencing God Day by Day”. And also, a daily Bible Reading calendar for 2024, and readings from the Psalms and Proverbs. The Pastor Mike Impact Ministries website is: https://www.pmiministries.org/ Today, let us give the LORD the “sacrifice of thanksgiving” by spending some time with Him! God bless!
Christ said things like, "Deny yourself" and "Follow me." He also said, "Whoever seeks to save his life will lose his life." And that He came to bring not just a good life but "the Abundant life." This episode is about what others have described as "ego death" or the denying of the "separated self," which is everything in us that is not from God. The ego always wants control, always wants it's own way, and is never satisfied. I dive into Oswald Chambers excerpt from "My Utmost for His Highest" on the topic of "individuality" or "the ego" and how it is the shell which protects our real, personal life with God. It's not a bad thing as much as it is a layer that must be shed or denied to enter into union with GOD. I also share my personal testimony of how Jesus Christ changed my entire life, even my heart. May this episode inspire you to continue staying spiritually fit for life now and forever. Day 233 Today's Reading: 1 John 3 One of the greatest thrills for any violinist is to play a Stradivarius. Named for their creator, Antonio Stradivari, who meticulously handcrafted these rare violins, which produce an amazing sound. So you can imagine the excitement of acclaimed British violinist Peter Cropper when, in 1981, London's Royal Academy of Music offered him a 258-year-old Stradivarius to play during a series of concerts. But then the unimaginable happened. As Cropper walked onto the stage during a concert, he tripped and fell on the violin, breaking off the neck. Forget being embarrassed—he'd just destroyed a priceless masterpiece! Cropper was inconsolable about what he'd done and vowed to do whatever he could to make it right. He took the violin to a master craftsman in the vain hope that he might be able to fix it. A miracle happened, and the craftsman was able to repair it. In fact, he repaired it so perfectly that the break was undetectable—and the sound was exquisite. The Academy was gracious enough to allow him to continue using the rare instrument. And for the remainder of the concert series, as Cropper played, he was reminded of the fact that what he once thought irreparably damaged had been fully restored by the hand of a Master craftsman. Our lives are in continual repair by the Master. That repair work has a name: sanctification. And one day, these broken lives will be a Stradivarius to God. Sanctification is what happens between now and know, between being born again and Jesus' coming again. Here's what 1 John 3 says about now and know: “Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is”(verse 2). Now is the condition we are in presently. The broken violin. Broken by sin. The Know—that's the end when all the repairs are done, and we will be like Jesus. In between? That's the repair process called sanctification. We can compare the process of sanctification to an iceberg, which is almost 90 percent underwater. As the sun shines on the iceberg, the exposed part melts, moving the lower part upward. In the same way, we are usually aware of only a small part of our sinfulness and need, which is all we can deal with at any one time. However, as the light of God's work in our lives changes us in the areas we know about, we become aware of new areas needing His work. So put simply, sanctification is God's continual working on me, getting me closer to looking like Jesus. It's a good work, but it isn't an easy work. As D. L. Moody once said, “I've had more trouble with D. L. Moody than any other man I know.” Devotional writer of the classic My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers, said this about sanctification: “[sanctification] will cause an intense narrowing of all our interests on earth, and an immense broadening of all our interests in God. Sanctification means intense concentration on God's point of view. It means every power of body, soul, and spirit chained and kept for God's purpose only.” And F. F. Bruce speaks about the work of sanctification between now and know as imperative: “Those who have been justified are now being sanctified; those who have no experience of present sanctification have no reason to suppose they have been justified.” Nineteenth-century writer J. C. Ryle even takes it to a new level when he says: “The faith which has not a sanctifying influence on the character is no better than the faith of devils. It is a ‘dead faith, because it is alone.'” My favorite book of C. S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia series has always been The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. At one point in the book, the irritating antagonis

//Episode 35 //Meaning of the number 35: Vindication! The number thirty-five in Hebrew was written with the letters lamed (authority) and hey, which, at the end of a word, means “what comes from.” The number itself, then, indicates “what comes from authority. When there is an unresolved question or dispute among men, a ruling is necessary from a higher authority. And so thirty-five is the number of vindication. This episode is short and sweet. Today we start a new “mini- series” building on the discernment series, all about INTERCESSION and INTERCESSION dreams. In this episode we learn the meaning and purpose of intercession, as well as some of its expressions. Oswald Chambers also discusses this concept in the My Utmost for His Highest March 31 reading. "One of the most subtle and illusive burdens God ever places on us as saints is this burden of discernment concerning others."“He gives us discernment so that we may . . . form the mind of Christ about them (see Philippians 2:5).“We should intercede . . . to bring God into contact with our minds, that we awaken ourselves to the point where God is able to convey His mind to us regarding the people for whom we intercede.Worship and intercession must go together; one is impossible without the other. Intercession means raising ourselves up to the point of getting the mind of Christ regarding the person for whom we are praying.”What a great and glorious honor to carry Gods heart for people and for the world. Perhaps you are already carrying a burden and don't know that its from God. Perhaps your dreams are speaking about intercession or discerning of spirits with the purpose of interceding for a God- revealed outcome. There are a couple clear clues that you had an intercession dream, listen to the episode and find out.More on Breathing Underwater Memberships HEREInterested in 1:1 coaching with Margaux : Free Consultation HERE Join the Community and Newsletter: HERE Email: margaux@permissiontoreign.comInstagram: @permission_to_reignIntro Music by Coma-Media from PixabayImage by Claire Fischer from Unsplash
In November 1917, Scottish Bible teacher and evangelist Oswald Chambers died while serving as chaplain to British troops in Egypt. Ten years after his death, his wife Gertrude compiled her notes of his sermons into one of the most influential devotionals of all time: My Utmost for His Highest. Chambers revered the Scripture. “God never fits His word to suit me;” he wrote, “He fits me to suit His word.” But he also understood the kind of book the Bible was. Not something only to be looked at, but to be looked through. He once responded to a friend, who said he only read the Bible that, When people refer to a man as “a man of the book,” meaning the Bible, he is generally found to be a man of multitudinous books, which simply isolates the one Book to its proper grandeur. The man who reads only the Bible does not, as a rule, know it or human life.
