Welcome to fierce and ferocious, a show with Quest Radio all about women’s stories - the entertaining, the engaging and the gritty. Here on fierce and ferocious, I want you to know that there is a fire inside of you, and it is okay to reclaim your power.

The final (?) episode of fierce and ferocious !!! I can't believe it, this show has been so amazing and I can't wait to speak to you all in September (unless I record some very low-quality episodes at home haha). Today we discuss how to take onboard criticism without feeling like you are losing a piece of yourself and I reflect on this academic year. As always, feel free to message me on socials @starryimi or email me imaanasim@hotmail.com if you'd like to chat more!!

Hey everyone!!! It's been two months since I last recorded an episode so this was long overdue. We talked about authenticity, standing in your truth, and the power of fully inhabiting your body My portfolio: imaan.journoportfolio.com Socials: @starryimi Let me know what your thoughts are and thank you so much for listening!!

Reflecting on Sally Rooney's writing, and interviews with Zadie Smith, this episode is about our craft. How does writing about social dynamics change with social media? How can women push for a uniquely feminine voice? How do we strip back language to make our writing more humanistic, and less analytical? We can feel rage, shame, joy, happiness and pain through art. That's why the role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistable.

In today's episode I spoke to my friend Sarah (@sarahbabiker IG) about gender roles, her experiences of living in the middle east too, and how women can gain more confidence in themselves. Enjoy!!

... i am more than my body. more than a pretty face. more than someone's daughter. i am a woman and i demand autonomy.

Love them, hate them or fear them, female villains are my favourite. We discuss the femme fatale, going against traditional notions of womanhood and powerful women in mythology perceived as a threat to men. Portfolio: imaan.journoportfolio.com Hope you enjoy! In this episode I play voicenotes some of my listeners kindly send in on women they admire, why some girls feel stuck in mediocrity, and advice on stepping into your full power + potential. Enjoy! And remember - stay fierce, stay ferocious. XO

In our first episode we discuss women's safety at university, media conversations around violence against women and how sexism begins in the classroom. I reflect on messages I received from women on social media and how we can move forwards. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/getting-help-for-domestic-violence/ Instagram @starryimi Email imaanasim@hotmail.com Portfolio imaan.journoportfolio.com

(trigger warning: SA) In this unfiltered, raw, passionate episode we talk about some topics which have been trending regarding male violence over women and abortion, the importance of differentiating between culture and religion, and my own journey with feminism. I definitely want to do more episodes deconstructing female sexuality in culture and religion so think of this episode as an introductory one and hopefully I'll go into greater detail in the future. In our very first episode we will be discussing body image and eating disorders. First going a little into my journey, then the stereotypes of Black and Brown women with eating disorders in the media, and different representations of body dysmorphia. I finish with reciting one of my poems about recovery. I have attached some information and helpline links to the description if this is a triggering topic. I hope you enjoy listening and can take something away!
