In his explosive new book, ABUSE OF POWER  bestselling author, former noted criminal defense attorney, and TV network legal analyst Mark Shaw affirms RFK, Jr.'s sense that Sirhan Sirhan was not accountable for the 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Shaw, however, refutes the HHS Secretary's theory that his father's murder was linked to the CIA. Before getting caught up in the mafia don's murder plot, Sirhan, per FBI records, worked at Santa Anita Racetrack in Southern California where John Shear, a paddock captain hailed as a hero for saving a little girl from being stampeded by a wild horse, hired Sirhan as a “hot walker” for the meager sum of $200 a month. Like a prosecutor building his case, Shaw uses this jaw-dropping admission as the stepping stone to “indicting” Marcello for RFK's murder. Why? Because RFK, who knew the mafia don had orchestrated his brother's assassination to render the then-attorney general powerless, had illegally deported Marcello. Illinois sued the administration to stop plans to send in 400 troops from Texas. It comes after a separate judge blocked Trump from sending California’s National Guard to Oregon. When James Carville said "It's the economy, stupid", he helped usher in Bill Clinton (and neo-liberalism) and crushed the republican brand for a decade or more forcing them to change tactics.  In 2025, I propose we focus on corruption and abuses of power...of which there are literally hundreds of examples.  The regime is dripping with self-dealing and underhandedness, not to mention the public middle finger they constantly flaunt at our rule of law.  From Kimmel and Comey to ICE raids and being anti-anti-fascist (there's an easier way to say that), to the obvious coverup of the content in Epstein files, the cracks are starting to show.Let's give it a shove, shall we?Love,-T

Friends, for this Twenty-fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time, I want to focus on the first and second readings. When read together, they give us a very good sense of Catholic social teaching in regard to the question of power. The Church's position here is a subtle one. It doesn't demonize political and economic power; after all, God is described as all-powerful, so power can't, in itself, be a problem. But it is very much concerned with how we use that power.
