Critics argue the deal raises alarming constitutional questions about executive power, self-dealing, and whether a president can use the federal government to shield himself, his family, and affiliated businesses from future scrutiny. The debate is reigniting concerns over checks and balances, political favoritism, and whether America's institutions are being pushed toward dangerous territory.
In this episode, we also discuss the decline of teenage fun, the rise of online dating, and a bizarre story about two people arrested for trying to smuggle baby monkeys through an airport. Today on Uncommon Sense, we're talking about “law enforcement” and why so many people no longer feel like laws are actually being enforced equally or consistently, especially when it comes to powerful and well-connected individuals connected to the Epstein scandal. We discuss the growing public frustration surrounding the unreleased and heavily redacted Epstein files, the lack of visible accountability for elite predators, and why so many Americans feel the justice system has failed women, children, and vulnerable people. We also talk about why local police departments, sheriffs, prosecutors, and public officials should be demanding full transparency and supporting the release of the complete unredacted Epstein files so the public can see the truth plainly. This episode also goes into the broader leadership crisis facing America and much of the world: weak leadership, fear of confrontation, and silence in the face of corruption. We discuss the need for stronger moral leadership, stronger families, stronger communities, and men willing to stand up publicly against evil instead of shrinking back from difficult conversations. If laws are not enforced equally, trust in institutions collapses. If justice is selective, people stop believing justice exists at all. It's time for courage, accountability, truth, and leadership again.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app
Happy Mother's Day to all of the incredible mothers out there. Today's episode is a deeper conversation about the urgent need for stronger, more biblical men and women in our culture, people willing to stand for truth, protect the vulnerable, and refuse to stay silent in the face of evil.We discuss the ongoing outrage surrounding the Epstein files, the lack of accountability for powerful people, and the broader cultural failure to protect victims from wicked and predatory individuals. But this conversation goes beyond headlines. It's about morality, courage, justice, faith, and what happens when societies stop valuing strong families, strong character, and biblical principles. This episode is ultimately about hope too, because evil does not win forever. Real justice matters, truth matters, and good people still have a responsibility to speak up.
Today we're talking about why so many people feel like none of us are fine anymore. The Epstein files reopened deep questions about power, corruption, protection, and why the people at the top never seem to face real accountability. We're breaking down the public reaction, the distrust, the anger, and what it means when people feel like justice only applies to ordinary citizens.--https://www.bible.com/

Hawk, a retired 28-year trial attorney, walks through the CNN article and the New York Times report revealing that the Manhattan District Attorney has opened a criminal investigation into Swalwell, calling on additional victims to come forward. The pattern of conduct alleged, targeting young women who worked for him, volunteered for him, or simply admired him politically, points to a serial abuse of power. Swalwell has denied all allegations, called them false, and has had his attorneys send cease and desist letters threatening defamation suits against two of his accusers. Hawk addresses the legal standard for defamation and why those letters may say more about intimidation than innocence. Also addressed: the troubling response from a vocal segment of liberal women on social media who are publicly refusing to believe the accusers, drawing a direct parallel to the defense of Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. With corroborating evidence, witness testimony, and a Manhattan DA investigation now underway, Hawk argues Swalwell must drop out of the governor's race and resign his House seat. Synopsis: What does Jeffrey Epstein's scandal have to do with Trump's brand of populist nationalism? We dive into the surprising links between fascism, feminism, and power dynamics on today's show. This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donateDescription: Donald Trump has a long record of demeaning and berating women. He's also linked to Jeffrey Epstein and his name appears literally thousands of times in relation to what is arguably the biggest, sickest sex abuse scandal ever. So why is the sexism at the heart of Trumpism taken so lightly? In this episode, we look at how sexism functions in today's fascist resurgence with experts Nina Burleigh, Rev. Naomi Washington-Leapheart and Annie Wilkinson. Burleigh is a journalist, best-selling author, documentary producer, and publisher of “American Freakshow” on Substack. Rev. Washington-Leapheart is a minister, professor, and the first-ever Strategic Partnerships Director at Political Research Associates (PRA), a social justice research and strategy center founded in 1981 by the feminist political scientist Jean Hardisty. In 2025 PRA dedicated an entire issue of their journal to the relationship between gender and authoritarianism, with a lead essay written by Wilkinson. Hear what our guests are taking away from the Epstein story, why authoritarians are afraid of feminism, and how women's leadership poses such a threat to fascists. All that, plus a commentary from Laura on impunity in our times.“It's not just about a sex case. It's not just about the mistreatment of women, I'm sorry to say, because that's a big part of it. It's the underpinning of how Epstein maybe was operating. It's really about influence, foreign affairs, and the way the last 20 years of American foreign policy has played out.” - Nina Burleigh“The most unprotected women in the United States throughout our history have been Black women . . . It's sort of okay for a MAGA influencer to say that Black women have brains that process more slowly than any, and nobody challenges that.” - Rev. Welcome to the 35th sermon in our series on the books of 1 & 2 Samuel. In the books of 1&2 Samuel, God grants his people a king, but it doesn't go the way they think it will go. Power is something every person craves, but does it ever deliver what we hope it will deliver? In God's story, power is a crucible that enables, lifts up, reveals and exposes. It is God's to grant and ours to either steward or worship…one leads to life, the other to destruction. Join us through the books of 1&2 Samuel as we look at the stories of prophets, kings and peasants being shaped and formed by God's crucible of power.
HEY! IT'S SEASON TWO!!!Remember the special council appointed to investigate Donald Trump's insurrection influence and theft of classified materials? Some dude named Jack Smith. This guy had Trump on the ropes to the point where a Trump appointed judge had to throw out all precedent regarding the appointment of special councils just to throw out the case...it was open-and-shut. And as for the insurrection involvement, Smith claims he would have secured a conviction in a court of law.And then...well, you know. Also, a threat against Smith in real time just proves how Trump uses the justice department to eliminate his perceived political enemies.-T
In the four days since the last podcast...everything got worse! The continued extrajudicial actions of the federal agents terrorizing Minnesota are making loads of headlines, so naturally the regime is trying to muddy the waters with their mass propaganda machine. Oh, and someone is threatening war with Europe...and it's not Putin.Stay strong, stay safe,-T
How do you respond to the last ten days of madness? Well, I don't know either, but we've got to find something. Step one is to know what's happening. Step two is determining the response. Step three is acting on it.This episode is definitely about step one.Stay Strong,-T
William Taylor - Marriage is God's invention. God knows how we work best. But marriage is about far more than human flourishing. The state of marriage in a nation is an indicator of the spiritual state of the nation. Whether married or single, Jesus' teaching on marriage will help every one of us to navigate this key area of life.
It took months, but it has finally happened. The violent and lawless immigration policy of the Trump regime has resulted in an agent shooting a civilian. And there weren't just witnesses, there is video. How do we process our emotions at times like these? Stay safe, stay strong, stay vigilant. Love,-T
In his explosive new book, ABUSE OF POWER bestselling author, former noted criminal defense attorney, and TV network legal analyst Mark Shaw affirms RFK, Jr.'s sense that Sirhan Sirhan was not accountable for the 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Shaw, however, refutes the HHS Secretary's theory that his father's murder was linked to the CIA. Backed by shocking new evidence, Shaw exposes the real mastermind—the one with the strongest motive to want RFK dead—New Orleans mafia don Carlos Marcello. Further, the author deduces that Sirhan was “recruited” as a “patsy” to defer suspicions of Marcello's involvement. The result: for nearly 60 years, Sirhan has languished in a prison cell because, Shaw believes, he was denied justice from the moment he was arrested. Based on Shaw's nearly 15 years of extensive research, ABUSE OF POWER exposes, for the first time, the connection between the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy and the mysterious death of famed journalist Dorothy Kilgallen, with Marcello as the culprit for each. The mafia don used patsies to cover his complicity—a pattern that had never been revealed before. For Shaw, the key to this conclusion is an FBI file transcript, an audiotaped “confession” Marcello made to a fellow inmate at a Texas federal prison on December 15, 1985. While expressing his intense dislike of the former president, the mafia don confided, “Yeah, I had the son of a bitch killed. I'm glad I did it. I'm sorry I couldn't have done it myself.” Predictably, the 24-year-old Sirhan became the fall guy. Before getting caught up in the mafia don's murder plot, Sirhan, per FBI records, worked at Santa Anita Racetrack in Southern California where John Shear, a paddock captain hailed as a hero for saving a little girl from being stampeded by a wild horse, hired Sirhan as a “hot walker” for the meager sum of $200 a month. Like a prosecutor building his case, Shaw uses this jaw-dropping admission as the stepping stone to “indicting” Marcello for RFK's murder. Why? Because RFK, who knew the mafia don had orchestrated his brother's assassination to render the then-attorney general powerless, had illegally deported Marcello. So, when RFK announced his campaign for president in March 1968 and then won several primaries, Marcello devised a diabolical plan to protect his multimillion-dollar empire while also exacting his revenge. On today's edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson continues his conversation with Chuck Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries. When Chuck was often asked, “How can I grow closer to God?,” his answer was simple. As Jeremiah 22:16 records, when believers defend the cause of the poor and needy, that's how we can come to know God intimately. As you are serving the powerless, you will experience the power of God. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/707/29?v=20251111
The late Chuck Colson, former special counsel to President Richard Nixon, knew firsthand what it meant to have a problem with abusing power. But after he was sent to prison, he was no longer enamored by "earthly kings." On today's edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson talks with Chuck about his life, which was radically transformed by "the power of the King of Kings living in us, and the eternal values of God, which are so transcendent." TVC 717.1: Ed welcomes back Mark Shaw, investigative journalist, former criminal defense attorney, onetime legal analyst for CNN, ESPN, and USA Today, and the author of nearly thirty books, including The Reporter Who Knew Too Much: The Mysterious Death of What's My Line TV Star and Media Icon Dorothy Kilgallen. Mark's latest book, Abuse of Power, includes new information about the mysterious nature of Kilgallen's demise in November 1965 that, Mark believes, links the death of Kilgallen to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy. Abuse of Power, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much, and all of Mark's books are available through Post Hill Press and Amazon.com.
TVC 717.2: Mark Shaw, author of Abuse of Power: Connecting Robert Kennedy's Assassinaton with the Murders of JFK and Dorothy Kilgallen, talks to Ed about a recently released YouTube video about John Shear (pictured above, left), a longtime paddock captain at Santa Anita Racetrack in Southern California who hired Sirhan Sirhan (pictured above, center) as a "hot walker" several months before Sirhan was arrested for the assassination of RFK in June 1968. According to Mark, Shear's comments in that video not only lend credence to the possibility that Sirhan may have been used as a fall guy by the mob for the assassination of RFK, but make the case that Sirhan should receive a new trial in light of these new revelations. (Though John Shear died in December 2023, Mark interviewed Shear's son, Michael, in December 2024; Michael Shear provided confirmation of his father's account.) Both Abuse of Power and The Reporter Who Knew Too Much are available through Post Hill Press and Amazon.com.

The foundation of our democracy is the Constitution, a system of checks and balances and the rule of law. But today, those cornerstones are being blatantly disrespected by a presidential administration attempting to consolidate power at all costs..In this episode, host Simone Leeper is joined by Campaign Legal Center litigators Anna Baldwin and Brent Ferguson. They examine the most pressing examples of the erosion of the rule of law, from the politicization of the Department of Justice to the stifling of free speech. Along the way, they highlight how Congress and the courts have failed as effective checks — leaving civil society and citizens to defend constitutional principles — and explore the reforms that could restore accountability, protect the rule of law and strengthen democracy against threats. Timestamps:(00:05) — Why is free speech under attack in the U.S.?(03:50) — How is political opposition being falsely linked to political violence?(05:38) — Why is deploying federal troops in U.S. cities a threat to democracy?(09:50) — How are Congress and the courts failing to check presidential abuses of power?(15:09) — How has the DOJ been transformed into a political tool?(20:17) — Why is the Voting Rights Act no longer being enforced?(21:17) — What's at stake with the DOJ's demand for voter data?(27:27) — How is CLC challenging unlawful executive orders?(32:30) — What reforms are needed to restore checks and balances?Host and Guests:Simone Leeper litigates a wide range of redistricting-related cases at Campaign Legal Center, challenging gerrymanders and advocating for election systems that guarantee all voters an equal opportunity to influence our democracy. President Trump’s plan to deploy National Guard troops to U.S. cities is setting up a new showdown in federal courts over the limits of his authority. Illinois sued the administration to stop plans to send in 400 troops from Texas. It comes after a separate judge blocked Trump from sending California’s National Guard to Oregon. Geoff Bennett discussed more with Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek. PBS News is supported by - https://www.pbs.org/newshour/about/funders. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy
When James Carville said "It's the economy, stupid", he helped usher in Bill Clinton (and neo-liberalism) and crushed the republican brand for a decade or more forcing them to change tactics. In 2025, I propose we focus on corruption and abuses of power...of which there are literally hundreds of examples. The regime is dripping with self-dealing and underhandedness, not to mention the public middle finger they constantly flaunt at our rule of law. From Kimmel and Comey to ICE raids and being anti-anti-fascist (there's an easier way to say that), to the obvious coverup of the content in Epstein files, the cracks are starting to show.Let's give it a shove, shall we?Love,-T
Bishop Robert Barron’s Sermons - Catholic Preaching and Homilies
Friends, for this Twenty-fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time, I want to focus on the first and second readings. When read together, they give us a very good sense of Catholic social teaching in regard to the question of power. The Church's position here is a subtle one. It doesn't demonize political and economic power; after all, God is described as all-powerful, so power can't, in itself, be a problem. But it is very much concerned with how we use that power.

On Wednesday's Mark Levin, On Power examines the concept of power, its manipulation by politicians, media, and ideologues, and its impact on individuals and society. It aims to provoke a deeper understanding and dialogue about power's application, hoping to serve as a source for liberty against tyranny. Also, Saudi Arabia played a significant role on the 9/11 slaughter of Americans. Their Crown Prince didn't even apologize once yesterday for what they did to us, and the 9/11 families are probably reeling from this. And Qatar protected the leader of the 9/11 attack from the FBI, before he was able to launch his war on America that killed our people. It's great that we have a deal with Qatar, but they've also spent billions trying to destroy our colleges and universities. Afterward, most House and Senate Republicans signed two letters urging President Trump to reject any nuclear deal with Iran unless it fully dismantles its nuclear program. Later, Zuhdi Jasser calls in to explain that achieving peace requires the complete defeat of the Islamist death cult like Hamas. Western reluctance to confront this ideology head-on, due to fears of appearing Islamophobic, enables its spread and threatens global stability. The only decisive action against such extremism, rather than appeasement or half-measures, can secure a peaceful future. Finally, Sen Bernie Sanders advocates for a communist style national health care system, drawing from the 1936 Stalin Constitution. This raises questions about whether healthcare as a human right means unlimited access to any treatment, who controls doctors' and nurses' work hours, and if such a system could force doctors to provide care against their will. The 4th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals has issued a scorched-earth opinion in the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case. Judge Harvey Wilkinson, a Ronald Reagan appointee, called out the Trump administration for grave and upsetting constitutional violations, saying, "This should be shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses shall hold dear." Glenn reviews this remarkable and direct rebuke of the lawlessness of the Trump administration in the Garcia case.If you're interested in supporting our all-volunteer efforts, you can become a Team Justice patron at: / glennkirschner If you'd like to support Glenn and buy Team Justice and Justice Matters merchandise visit:https://shop.spreadshirt.com/glennkir...Check out Glenn's website at https://glennkirschner.com/Follow Glenn on:Threads: https://www.threads.net/glennkirschner2Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glennkirschner2Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glennkirsch...Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/glennkirschn...TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/glennkirschner2See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
