Why do men cheat? Why do they keep cheating? Can a man love you and still betray you? Why won't he talk about the affair? And how do you know if he's truly changed? In this deeply honest episode, I sit down with my husband, Shawn, to answer the real questions women ask after infidelity—the same questions they post in my Facebook group, whisper to themselves at 2 a.m., and type into Google when their world has fallen apart. This conversation is raw, thoughtful, and incredibly real. Shawn shares openly from the perspective of the betrayer—not as a clinician, but as a man who lived it, hid it, justified it, and ultimately had to face the truth of what he had done. Together, we talk about validation, compartmentalization, shame, emotional avoidance, repair, trust, intrusive thoughts, and what genuine transformation actually looks like over time. This is not a conversation about excusing betrayal. It's a conversation about understanding it clearly enough to stop repeating the cycle. If you have ever wondered whether he truly understands the pain he caused… whether change is real… or whether healing is possible for you, this episode will meet you there.   Top 3 Takeaways Cheating is often a coping mechanism—not an honest solution. Shawn shares how seeking validation, emotional immaturity, and unresolved childhood wounds fueled his choices. This doesn't excuse betrayal, but it does explain why many people cheat instead of leaving or speaking the truth. Real repair requires far more than saying “I'm sorry.” Healing only began when the conversation stopped being about words and started being about transformation, accountability, emotional safety, and the ability to stay present with discomfort. Trust is not rebuilt through promises. It's rebuilt through patterns. This episode breaks down the difference between performance and real change, why trauma triggers can still arise years later, and how trust is rebuilt one regulated, honest, consistent moment at a time.   Favorite Quote “Trust is not rebuilt through promises. Body You Crave

Body You Crave

In this episode of Hungry for Love, we're talking about something so many people believe they're missing: confidence. Most of us were taught that confidence is something you need before you take action. That one day you'll finally feel ready, brave, certain, and then you'll go after what you want. But the truth? Confidence doesn't come first. Confidence is created through action. If you keep waiting to feel ready, you may end up waiting forever. In this episode, I'm breaking down the lie we've been sold about confidence and sharing what actually builds it—especially if you've experienced emotional abuse, toxic relationships, or years of self-doubt. We'll talk about: Why waiting to feel ready slowly erodes your confidence How fear and avoidance keep you stuck in cycles of hesitation Why your brain resists new things (and how to work with it instead of against it) How toxic voices from the past can become the loudest voice in your head Why confidence grows through repetition and self-trust, not perfection I'll also share a personal story about becoming a yoga teacher and how saying yes before I felt ready completely changed my relationship with confidence. Because real confidence isn't about avoiding failure. It's about knowing you'll have your own back no matter what happens. If you've been waiting to feel ready to start the thing, say the truth, or pursue the life you want—this episode will help you understand why action is the very thing that builds the confidence you're looking for. Leadership coach, somatic practitioner, and Café con Pam podcast host Pam Covarrubias joins The Power of the Ask to talk about what keeps high-achieving first-generation women stuck, silent, and overworked, and what it takes to break free. Pam introduces the concept of Calladita Culture, the inherited system of silence and submission that conditions women to stay small, underpay themselves, and perform for approval rather than lead from truth. She walks through her Unmute & Reclaim Method and explains why certainty, not confidence, is the real foundation of lasting change. Pam, Lisa, and Precious explore: Certainty Before Confidence: Confidence without roots won't hold. When you know who you are and what you want without needing external approval, confidence follows naturally. How Your Body Keeps Score: If you're getting sick after every work trip or only resting when forced, your body is sending a signal. Learning to listen is the first step toward change. The Five Wounds of Calladita Culture: Silence, worth, power, and the other wounds underneath this system show up as both over- and underperformance. Awareness is where healing starts. Why Woleness-Based Leadership Starts with Self-Knowledge: The best leaders don't borrow a style. They do the inner work to understand how they lead best, then build from that place. One Somatic Step You Can Take Today: Place your hand on your chest, slow your exhale, and ask your body what you're carrying that's stopping you from asking for what you want. Important Links:Savvy Ladies (https://www.savvyladies.org/)Precious Williams' LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/precious-l-williams/)Lisa Zeiderman's LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisazeiderman/Pam Covarrubias's LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/pamcovarrubias/Important Links for Pam:Pam Covarrubias's Website: https://www.spreadideasmovepeople.com/About Pam Covarrubias:Pam Covarrubias is a leadership coach, podcast host, and somatic practitioner… but what she really does is help first-gen high-achievers break up with performance culture and lead from presence instead of proving. She is also the creator of the Unmute & Reclaim™ Method and Calladita Culture® frameworks built for women who are tired of biting their tongues, betraying their bodies, and burning out just to belong. Through her coaching and consulting work, she has partnered with big brands and organizations, helping teams and individuals lead from wholeness instead of burnout.  Through nervous system regulation, somatic healing, and cultural deconditioning, she helps women stop hustling for their worth and start leading from wholeness. And she has spent a decade using her podcast, Café con Pam, to elevate Latine voices and people of the Global Majority, dismantling the BS conditioning that keeps us playing small. Because before there's confidence… there's certainty. And Pam believes, certainty lives in the body.

#369: Do you care deeply about what's happening in the world, yet feel too exhausted to show up the way you wish you could? What if the problem isn't that you don't care enough, but that it's time to reclaim your political energy? In this episode, I talk about the third pattern in this series: depletion. While some of us freeze and others burn hot with rage, many of us are simply running on empty after years of managing everyone else's feelings and needs. I explore how emotional outsourcing quietly drains your time, attention, and nervous system capacity until there's nothing left for the values and causes that matter most to you. Listen in this week to learn how to begin reclaiming your political energy by noticing where your energy is leaking away, returning responsibility for others' emotions, and practicing small acts of choosing yourself. I also share how reconnecting with your values through tiny, doable actions helps rebuild your capacity to engage with the world in ways that are sustainable, meaningful, and aligned with who you truly are. Episode Summary: What if you could go back 10 years? Have you ever wished you could go back ten years and whisper something life-changing to your younger self? In this week’s episode of Your Hope Filled Perspective podcast, in recognition of my birthday this week, we’re diving into the 10 powerful truths I wish I had known a decade ago—biblical insights, neuroscience-backed wisdom, and lessons God taught me through some of the hardest seasons of my life. If you have ever wrestled with self-doubt, carried the weight of other people's expectations, feared what others think, or wondered whether God was really working behind the scenes, this episode will speak straight to your heart we are going to talk about rest, resilience, purpose, identity, joy, boundaries, emotional freedom, and how God faithfully redeems every part of our story. If you want to encouragement, clarity, or a fresh start anchored in scripture and science you're in the right place. Quotables from the episode: Breathe. God is not disappointed in you. Rest is not a reward for finishing the work, it’s part of the process of work. Rest is not a luxury. Rest is obedience. Rest is not weakness. It’s worship. Hardship is never wasted. Trying to live for the approval of people rewires the brain to depend on external validation. You are already approved. Joy is not circumstantial. Joy is relational. Joy is the awareness of God’s presence with us. They’re not thinking about you nearly as much as you think they are. You don’t have to be the strong one all the time. Let others in. God was working all along. Silently. Slowly. Faithfully. Many people leaving a marriage realize they have spent years prioritizing the needs of others while quietly ignoring their own. In this episode of The D Shift, Strategic Divorce Consultant Mardi Winder speaks with transformational coach Jacqueline Francis about why people pleasing becomes so common during relationships and how individuals can reconnect with their authentic identity after divorce or major life transitions.Jacqueline shares how a serious car accident became the unexpected turning point that led her to explore personal development and the power of the subconscious mind. Her experience highlights how life disruptions, including divorce, can open the door to deeper awareness and personal transformation.Mardi and Jacqueline discuss the pressures many women experience to hold everything together for everyone else while ignoring their own emotional needs. Over time, this pattern can lead to what Jacqueline calls invisible burnout, a quiet depletion that occurs when we constantly prioritize others and suppress our own feelings.Their talk covers:• Why people-pleasing patterns often develop in relationships• How invisible burnout impacts emotional and physical well-being• The importance of setting healthy boundaries during life transitions• How redefining success can lead to deeper fulfillment• Practical ways to protect your energy and prioritize self-careJacqueline also introduces Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) as a tool for releasing emotional stress and shifting long held patterns that keep people stuck. She generously offers listeners a complimentary session to experience this approach.About the Guest:I am Jacqueline Francis a Transformation Coach who helps people experience inner freedom so success, clarity, and fulfillment follow naturally. Have you ever wondered why you feel drained, bloated, or mentally foggy even after eating all day?In this episode, I share a transformative approach to eating that goes beyond diets, rules, and willpower: intermittent fasting as a health protocol. I explain how giving my body dedicated periods of rest helps optimize digestion, immune function, hormonal balance, and mental clarity. This isn't about restriction — it's about giving my body the space to heal, regenerate, and perform at its best.1. Why Rest Matters for Digestion and HealingI've learned that our bodies need periods of rest and digest. When I eat constantly, my energy goes into breaking down food, leaving little capacity for healing and regeneration.By practicing intermittent fasting, I allow:My immune system to clear debris through autophagyHormones and enzymes to rebalanceMy body to focus on repair instead of constant digestion2. Intermittent Fasting: More Than Weight LossWhile releasing weight can happen naturally, the main benefit for me is healing and energy optimization.I experience:Greater metabolic flexibility, using fat as fuel when glucose is lowImproved sleep and mental clarity with even a 12-hour windowDeep gut health reset with longer fasts up to 72 hours3. Energy Comes From More Than FoodI used to think “food equals energy.” Even after eating constantly, I felt fatigue and brain fog.Through fasting, I reconnect with my highest-level self, discovering that energy comes from:Mental clarityNervous system balanceConnection with my own body, not just my plate4. Finding the Right Window for MeIntermittent fasting isn't one-size-fits-all. I experiment with windows depending on my needs:12-hour fasting window – supports digestion, sleep, and clarityLonger fasts – for gut health or deeper metabolic resetI remain flexible, listening to my body's cues and adjusting my schedule5. Integrating Fasting with Intuitive EatingI combine fasting with intuitive eating:Some days my brain or body needs more glucoseSome days my body thrives on longer rest periodsFlexibility keeps fasting a tool for self-support, not stressMy TakeawaysI allow my body to rest and healFasting supports immune, hormonal, and metabolic functionWeight changes are a side effect, not the main goalEnergy and clarity often improve before physical changesI honor my body's cues and adjust my fasting window accordinglyClosing Message from SherryIntermittent fasting is not about restriction — it's about freedom, energy, and connection. By giving your body space to rest and repair, you reclaim energy for the things that truly matter and strengthen your ability to listen to your own body with clarity and compassion. This episode invites you to experiment, notice the difference, and tune into your own cues — turning fasting into a tool for wellness, presence, and sustainable transformation.Work With Sherry:Book your FREE 30-minute Food Freedom Call now and start your journey to lasting change! If you've ever felt pressure to be the "good girl," you're not the only one. Dr. Mindy has heard from thousands of women who feel exhausted by the pressure to be agreeable, accommodating, and selfless. Many women were taught that being good meant putting everyone else first. But over time, that pattern often leads to resentment, burnout, and a deep disconnection from your own voice. That's why Dr. Mindy invited writer and cultural critic Elise Loehnen to join her for this conversation. Elise is the former Chief Content Officer of goop and the New York Times bestselling author of On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to Be Good. Through her writing and podcast Pulling the Thread, Elise explores the cultural expectations that shape women's lives and how those expectations influence our relationships, emotions, and sense of identity. In this conversation, Dr. Mindy and Elise unpack the invisible rules women have been taught to live by for generations. They explore why women were conditioned to suppress emotions like anger and envy, how people-pleasing shows up in female friendships, and why learning to trust your intuition is one of the most important skills a woman can develop. In this episode, you'll learn how to: -Reconnect with your intuition and inner authority -Understand the cultural conditioning shaping women's behavior -Recognize how suppressed emotions impact your health -Navigate female friendships with more awareness -Step out of people-pleasing patterns -Reclaim your voice and authenticity For any woman who feels like she has been living by expectations that don't truly belong to her, this conversation offers a new perspective. It helps you understand where those patterns came from and how to begin trusting yourself again. Why does it feel harder than ever to focus? In this episode of Men Talking Mindfulness, hosts Jon Macaskill and Will Schneider explore the hidden forces competing for your attention and why many people today feel mentally scattered, reactive, and drained.Modern technology, constant notifications, and the pressure to always stay connected have created an environment where attention is constantly pulled in different directions. What most people experience as a personal struggle with focus is often the result of living in an attention economy designed to capture and monetize your awareness.Jon and Will explain why attention is one of the most valuable assets we possess and why learning to direct it intentionally is essential for leadership, performance, and well-being.The conversation introduces the philosophy behind Focus Now Training, a system designed to help individuals train attention like a skill. Rather than relying on motivation or discipline alone, the practice focuses on strengthening awareness, recognizing distraction, and returning attention to what matters most.In this episode, you'll learn:• Why focus feels harder than ever in the modern world• How the attention economy competes for your awareness• Why attention is the foundation of leadership and decision-making• How distraction affects stress, productivity, and relationships• Practical ways to begin strengthening focus in daily lifeIf you've ever found yourself constantly checking your phone, jumping between tasks, or feeling mentally exhausted despite being busy, this conversation offers a new perspective on why it happens and what you can do about it.Training your attention may be the most important skill you develop.Subscribe to Your Thursday Three Things — practical focus tools connected to each week's episode.Free and deep-dive versions available:https://newsletter.focusnowtraining.comOr text MTM to 33777 and we'll send the link straight to you.Join the Men Talking Mindfulness team at the 2026 Spartan Race and take mindfulness into real-world challenge. Do you feel like you're doing everything you're supposed to do…showing up for everyone, working hard, keeping the peace, trying to be a good parent, partner, and person……and yet inside, life still feels chaotic, exhausting, anddisconnected? In this episode, we explore a hidden pattern that quietly drives so much of that inner chaos. It can look like being helpful, responsible, generous, and accommodating. But beneath the surface, it's often a survival strategy we learned early in life to stay connected and feel accepted.Over time, that strategy becomes a pattern.A pattern where we: over-give, over-achieve, over accommodate, avoid conflict, keep the peace and quietly abandon our own truth in order to belong. But the very strategy that once protected us can eventually create the chaos we feel today. We cannot change patterns we cannot see. This conversation will help you begin to notice the deeper dynamics underneath people-pleasing and how it quietly shapes your relationships, your nervous system, and your sense of self.Awareness is the first step in breaking generational patterns and coming home to yourself.Let's Connect:Instagram: @dianesorensen.bbFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/diane.sorensen.589Join the conversation — share your takeaways or questions from today's episode by sending me a message on Instagram or Facebook. Keen On Democracy
How to Reclaim the Internet: Olivier Sylvain on Platforms and Policy

Keen On Democracy

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 8, 2026 43:05

“The fatal error is ours. Legislators set out a regulatory regime that keeps regulation at bay. The only other industry with a similar protection is the gun industry.” — Olivier SylvainThere are certain words in book titles that provoke. “Reclaiming”, for example. My guest today is happy to defend the provocation. Fordham law professor and former FTC senior advisor Olivier Sylvain argues in his new book, Reclaiming the Internet, that the internet was never really ours to begin with—and that the story about user control, free speech, and digital democratisation was always more nostalgia than reality. But Sylvain's argument in Reclaiming the Internet: How Big Tech Took Control—and How We Can Take It Back is not the usual big-tech-is-bad narrative (yawn). He doesn't blame the companies. He blames us—or rather, Congress. The fatal error, he says, was Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, passed in 1996, which created a blanket immunity from liability for companies trafficking in user-generated content. The only other industry with comparable legal protection, he says, is the gun industry. That immunity enabled the attention economy's business model. Infinite scrolling = infinite advertising = infinite profit. What follows from that error is now everywhere: autoplay, algorithmic recommendation—design features engineered to hold your attention, not to facilitate free speech. Sylvain insists these companies aren't really platforms. They are, instead, services delivering content pursuant to their bottom line. And now the same Nineties playbook—innovation, user control, free speech—is being replayed with AI. Companies are deploying chatbots before they're ready, racing each other to market. A young man killed himself after a Gemini chatbot told him to and Google invoked the First Amendment in its defence. The fix, Sylvain argues, is not to abolish Section 230 but to attend to the business model itself: data minimisation, purpose limitations, and the kind of product-safety regulation that every other industry—from automobiles to toys to food—already accepts. I should disclose that my wife runs litigation at Google, so I'm all too familiar with the counter argument. But Sylvain makes a persuasive case even if his reclamation project is still a little too Rousseauean for my Hobbesian taste. Five Takeaways•       The Fatal Error Was Ours, Not Theirs: Sylvain doesn't blame big tech. He blames us—or rather, Congress. Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act created a blanket immunity from liability for user-generated content. The only other industry with comparable protection is the gun industry. That legal shield became the business model.•       These Are Not Platforms: The word “platform” implies a neutral conduit connecting users. Sylvain says that's wrong. These are companies engineering your experience—infinite scroll, autoplay, algorithmic recommendation—to hold your attention and serve their bottom line. The free speech story is cover for a commercial design.•       The Same Mistake Is Happening with AI: The nineties playbook—innovation, user control, free speech—is being replayed with AI. Companies are deploying chatbots before they're ready, racing each other to market. Internal documents show they knew the dangers. A young man committed suicide after Gemini told him to. Google invoked the First Amendment in its defence.•       Data Protection Is the Real Fix: Sylvain argues for data minimisation and purpose limitations—rules that would only allow companies to collect information consistent with the purposes a consumer signed up for. Not to monetise it for opaque reasons. That would dampen the incentive to engineer addiction without touching free speech.•       There's a Bipartisan Consensus—but Only for Children: Something is shifting. Courts are rejecting Section 230 defences. Legislators on both sides agree something must be done. But the consensus only extends to protecting children. Sylvain thinks that's a mistake: a 36-year-old man just killed himself after talking to a chatbot. Adults are vulnerable too. About the GuestOlivier Sylvain is a professor of law at Fordham University, a former senior advisor to the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission, and a Senior Policy Research Fellow at Columbia University's Knight First Amendment Institute. Finding Your Ground: A 7-Minute Somatic Centering Practice

Many leaders today are experiencing "Quiet Cracking," a state of Burnout 2.0 where we are expected to remain high-functioning while navigating empathy fatigue and physical exhaustion. The expectation is to "power through," but this move erodes our creative vision and ability to connect with others. If you feel this internal crumbling, know that you aren't failing; you are simply reacting to a culture where logic alone cannot solve our most polarizing global challenges. To help you find your way back, I am sharing a 7-minute somatic centering practice. Why We Center Centering is a practice that helps us stay present, connected, and open - even in the face of suffering. By returning to this physical place in our bodies, we: Counteract "Quiet Cracking". Move from automatically "powering through" to finding a grounding presence to be with what is emerging. Prioritize Human Sustainability. Align your body's biology with your actual capacity for leadership to find a pace that can sustain your available energy rather than deplete it. Reclaim the Present. Stop "leapfrogging" over your life by reconnecting with your tissues to land in the present moment, all that there is. Cultivate Resilience. Create a body-based home to return to when you are stirred or activated, so you respond rather than react to this moment. Practice Highlights In this guided session, you will: Expand Your Awareness. Soften your gaze to move out of the "tunnel vision" of crisis and toward imagining new possibilities. Connect to Purpose. Focus on your breath and your body as you answer: What matters most to me right now? to name the future you desire. Embody Dignity. Feel the length of your body as a reminder that your worth is not tied to your productivity, but simply to the fact that you exist as you are. Show Notes & Resources

How to Be Happy After Infidelity (Without Denial, Bypassing, or Pretending): 7 Real Steps Can you really be happy after infidelity? Not through denial. Not through toxic positivity. Not through spiritual bypassing or pretending everything is fine. In this deeply honest episode, I answer the question I've been asked more than any other: “Are you really that happy?” Eight years after betrayal, I share the 7 pillars that helped me move from devastation to grounded, embodied happiness — without minimizing the pain, excusing the betrayal, or bypassing the trauma. We talk about   Why happiness after infidelity is a conscious choice The real psychological roots of cheating (and why it wasn't about you) How betrayal trauma impacts your nervous system Why understanding the “why” creates emotional safety Healing invisible wounds like perfectionism, self-abandonment, and martyrdom How to stop performing and start being Why you cannot break the habit of being yourself by yourself If you're navigating betrayal, questioning your future, or wondering whether true happiness is possible after infidelity — this episode will show you what it actually takes. Not perfection. Not pretending. But rising. Top 3 Takeaways Happiness after betrayal begins when you stop identifying as the victim and choose to become the creator of your life. Understanding the real psychological root of infidelity (and why it wasn't about you) creates nervous system safety. You cannot think your way into happiness — you must regulate your nervous system, stop performing, and get real support. The 7 Pillars of Real Happiness After Betrayal Choose to rise instead of identifying as the victim. Understand the true psychological root of infidelity. Heal your invisible wounds (perfectionism, self-abandonment, martyrdom). Stop saying you “wasted” your life. Reclaim what's left. Regulate your nervous system. Stop performing and start being. Get real support — you can't break the habit of being yourself by yourself. Favorite Quote “You were victimized. But staying a victim is a choice.” LOVE THE SHOW? Step into a deeply nourishing conversation about feminine awakening, soul truth, deeper embodiment, and self-first devotion with Ann Marie Ziegler, co-founder of Aryaa Organic, on this episode of Intimate Conversations: Dark Night to Divine Light. Ann Marie shares her journey from being the "good woman" who did everything right on the outside, while feeling disconnected and suffocated within, to bravely listening to her body's wisdom when it began speaking through illness, inflammation, and exhaustion. What followed was a profound dark night of the soul that initiated her spiritual awakening, reclamation of her voice, and devotion to living in alignment with truth. She opens up about the courage it took to speak honestly to her family, end a decades-long marriage with love, and model self-honoring for her children. We explore how opening her fifth chakra and releasing shame, guilt, and people-pleasing allowed her to step fully into her power, creativity, and feminine expression. Together, we dive into how ancient wisdom, Ayurveda, and ancestral foods became medicine not only for her body, but for her nervous system, clarity, and intuition. Ann Marie shares how the Aryaa detox supports emotional, mental, and physical release, and why healing happens when we stop controlling the process and allow the body to lead. We also talk about: -Disconnection from the body as a root cause of illness -The difference between Self-first and the selfish/selfless cycle  -Speaking truth with love and without apology -Releasing shame, guilt, and perfectionism -Healing through ancestral foods and ancient wisdom -Emotional and mental detox as pathways to clarity and peace -Conscious partnership, service, and giving back as a business devotion I love this woman. How to Learn from the Proverbs 31 Woman Instead of Feeling Shame

Episode Summary: Have you ever met someone who’s so impressive that you instantly think, “Yeah, I’m not doing enough with my life?” I feel that way when someone casually mentions they ran a marathon, baked fresh sourdough bread, and taught their toddler how to read, all before noon. That’s how a lot of us feel when we meet the Proverbs 31 woman. She’s the biblical overachiever who makes the rest of us want to hide behind our laundry piles. She’s up before dawn, she’s running a business, she’s serving the community, she’s investing, she’s sewing clothes, meanwhile I’m celebrating if I remember to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer before they mildew. For years, she’s kind of intimidated us. She’s been quoted at women’s conferences, printed on coffee mugs, and held up as the gold standard for biblical womanhood. And somewhere along the way, many of us started to wonder: “Is this who I’m supposed to be? And if so, how? But here’s the problem: we’ve read her as a checklist instead of a celebration. As a pressure instead of a poem. And what if—just go with me here---she’s not actually here to exhaust and shame us? What if she’s here to equip us? What if this isn’t a picture of a perfect woman doing everything flawlessly, but a picture of what God can grow in a woman over a lifetime? If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the Proverbs 31 woman, or maybe even avoided her, today’s conversation is for you. We’re talking about why she scares us, why she inspires us, and how to live out her wisdom without losing her mind. In recognition of International Women’s Day, today we’re going to be talking about How to Learn from the Proverbs 31 Woman Instead of Feeling Shame. Quotables: Today we’re diving into a passage that can make women everywhere either want to grab a journal and praise the Lord, or crawl into a closet and hide in shame. She’s the woman who wakes up before dawn, runs a business, takes care of her kids, feeds the poor, respects her husband, handles investments, sews clothes, and—apparently—never gets tired. Ever. In honor of International Women’s Day, we are going to discuss How to Learn from the Proverbs 31 Woman Instead of Feeling Shame. The Proverbs 31 woman feels impossible. Like the spiritual version of a Pinterest mom mixed with a CEO and Mother Theresa. You read it and think, “I’m just trying to get my laundry out of the washer before it sours and she’s over here buying fields and planting vineyards. Not to mention she’s up before dawn. I don’t even want to be up before I’ve had my coffee. For many women, this passage has been used as a check list. A measuring stick. A pressure cooker. We’ve heard sermons that sound like: “Real women do all of this, all of the time, and with a smile.” And most of us end up feeling like we’re failing at biblical womanhood. So, part of the reason we resist her is because we’ve misunderstood her. We’ve made her into a standard we’re supposed to copy, instead of a picture of wisdom lived out in a variety of ways. Here’s the twist about the Proverbs 31 woman. She’s actually incredibly inspiring because this passage isn’t about perfection. It’s a portrait of character, not a job description. Her life is rooted in the fear of the Lord. That’s the anchor and the heart of the whole poem. She’s strong. She’s compassionate. She’s wise. She’s resourceful. She’s dignified. She laughs at the future, which means she’s walking in confidence, not anxiety. The fear of the Lord—honoring him above all else, understanding his place as ruler in her life—creates a confident woman. There’s something else to consider. Proverbs 31:10-31 was written as a celebration. This isn’t God laying out the requirements for biblical womanhood. This is a husband bragging on his wife and a mother teaching her son what to value in a woman. One of the most helpful things for me was realizing this passage is an acrostic poem. Every verse starts with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It’s basically the “A to Z of a Wise Woman.” It’s poetic, not literal. No one woman is doing or can do all these things at once. It’s describing a lifetime of faithfulness. Not a single day of the week. Shame is a tactic the enemy uses, and we fall for it so easily, especially when we make success, approval, or accumulating things our motivation. Our value doesn’t come from productivity or perfection. It comes from intimacy with God. If we start there, everything else flows from our relationship with him. I'm revealing the exact 3 steps required to experience a profound shift from wounded masculine energy to divine feminine magnetism. This isn't a strategy or a mindset hack - it is an ancient, deep, and somatic shift into your true feminine essence. Many spiritual women entrepreneurs are stuck in burnout culture, attaching their self-worth to performance and achievements. In this episode, we dive into a conversation that feels deeply personal—especially if you're in a season of striving, questioning, or quietly wondering, Is this it? Inspired by Colette's recent reading of A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, we reflect on success, purpose, and why even the seasons that look “good” from the outside can feel surprisingly disorienting and exhausting. We lean into the uncomfortable middle—the stretch where you've worked hard for something but still feel unsure of what's next. We talk about the younger parts of ourselves that flare up when plans don't unfold as expected, the urge to pull back when it all feels like too much, and the realization that joy may not come from avoiding struggle—but from staying in it long enough to be changed. Episode Highlights: [0:03] – We're back on the mic and jumping straight into existential midlife questions.[1:01] – Colette shares how reading A Million Miles in a Thousand Years sparked a deeper reflection on what makes a life “well lived.”[5:13] – The power of story: Are we meant to attain something—or be transformed by the search?[8:59] – Familiarity as the greatest seducer: Why we stay stuck even in “comfortable” unhappiness.[10:56] – Laura opens up about meeting a young, entitled part of herself when life doesn't go according to plan.[15:02] – Coaching yourself through emotional overwhelm: movement, naming feelings, and creating space.[18:30] – The fear of making the wrong choice—and why meaning matters more than accolades.[24:40] – Forcing yourself into growth: committing before you feel ready (TEDx talks, book deals, Machu Picchu).[27:13] – The marathon as metaphor: Laura's renewed commitment to the New York City Marathon and doing hard things differently.[31:35] – Why suffering may actually be the pathway to joy.[33:49] – When you want to quit everything: the difference between discernment and hiding.[35:30] – Our closing thesis: Happiness isn't eliminating obstacles—it's being willing to stay in the game.If today's discussion resonated with you or sparked curiosity, please rate, follow, and share "Insights from the Couch" with others. The 100-day moving average has been the market's most critical support level since April 2025 — and this week, it's being tested again. After Monday's selloff on Middle East military escalation news, markets broke below the 100-DMA before quickly recovering above the 50- and 20-DMA. Tuesday opened ~2% below that key level, but buyers stepped in and pushed markets right back up to close AT the 100-DMA. Here's what most investors get wrong: when markets break a moving average, algorithmic trading programs and HFT systems are ALL watching the same level — and many are programmed to SELL at the 100-DMA. That's exactly what played out Tuesday. Don't panic-sell into that action. What to watch TODAY: ✅ If markets RECLAIM the 100-DMA → potential to re-enter the prior range ❌ If markets FAIL at the 100-DMA and turn lower → confirmed sell signal; time to reduce exposure and rebalance risk The bottom line: Don't make a move before today's close. Let the market tell you what it wants to do.
