If you've ever felt pressure to be the "good girl," you're not the only one. Dr. Mindy has heard from thousands of women who feel exhausted by the pressure to be agreeable, accommodating, and selfless. Many women were taught that being good meant putting everyone else first. But over time, that pattern often leads to resentment, burnout, and a deep disconnection from your own voice. That's why Dr. Mindy invited writer and cultural critic Elise Loehnen to join her for this conversation. Elise is the former Chief Content Officer of goop and the New York Times bestselling author of On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to Be Good. Through her writing and podcast Pulling the Thread, Elise explores the cultural expectations that shape women's lives and how those expectations influence our relationships, emotions, and sense of identity. In this conversation, Dr. Mindy and Elise unpack the invisible rules women have been taught to live by for generations. They explore why women were conditioned to suppress emotions like anger and envy, how people-pleasing shows up in female friendships, and why learning to trust your intuition is one of the most important skills a woman can develop. In this episode, you'll learn how to: -Reconnect with your intuition and inner authority -Understand the cultural conditioning shaping women's behavior -Recognize how suppressed emotions impact your health -Navigate female friendships with more awareness -Step out of people-pleasing patterns -Reclaim your voice and authenticity For any woman who feels like she has been living by expectations that don't truly belong to her, this conversation offers a new perspective. It helps you understand where those patterns came from and how to begin trusting yourself again. Today, I am thrilled to connect with Dr. Zelana Montminy, who holds a doctorate in clinical psychology. Dr. Montminy developed her career speaking for and advising Fortune 500 companies and academic institutions. She regularly appears on Good Morning America, The Today Show, and Access Hollywood.  In our conversation, we unpack the concept of novelty bias, exploring how it shapes our neuroanatomy and compromises our conscientiousness. We debunk the myths of multitasking and task switching, and dive into generational shifts and our disconnection from ourselves and the world around us. We also highlight the vital role of the gut-brain connection, share practical social tools such as the Pomodoro Technique, and examine the transformative power of curiosity and awe.  This discussion with Dr. Zelana Montminy is an exciting and forward-thinking exploration of how our brains and bodies are programmed for distraction. Her book, Finding Focus, also offers a compelling narrative to help us get back on track. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: What is novelty bias?  How technology impacts our mental health and ability to empathize in the long term  Why are we seeing a loss of conscientiousness in the younger generations, and why do older generations tend to feel and process things more intensely? How constant exposure to technology affects the ability of the brain to process information  Generational differences in information processing The detrimental effects of multitasking on productivity and focusing ability, and the benefits of single-tasking and staying in the present moment How being in a constant state of fight or flight dysregulates the nervous system  The importance of nutrition, sleep, and hydration for mental health Tools and strategies to boost your ability to focus  The value of curiosity for problem-solving, resilience, and health Connect with Cynthia Thurlow   Follow on X, Instagram & LinkedIn Check out Cynthia's website Submit your questions to support@cynthiathurlow.com Join other like-minded women in a supportive, nurturing community: The Midlife Pause/Cynthia Thurlow  Cynthia's Menopause Gut Book is on presale now! How to Reclaim the Internet: Olivier Sylvain on Platforms and Policy

Keen On Democracy

“The fatal error is ours. Legislators set out a regulatory regime that keeps regulation at bay. The only other industry with a similar protection is the gun industry.” — Olivier SylvainThere are certain words in book titles that provoke. “Reclaiming”, for example. My guest today is happy to defend the provocation. Fordham law professor and former FTC senior advisor Olivier Sylvain argues in his new book, Reclaiming the Internet, that the internet was never really ours to begin with—and that the story about user control, free speech, and digital democratisation was always more nostalgia than reality. But Sylvain's argument in Reclaiming the Internet: How Big Tech Took Control—and How We Can Take It Back is not the usual big-tech-is-bad narrative (yawn). He doesn't blame the companies. He blames us—or rather, Congress. The fatal error, he says, was Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, passed in 1996, which created a blanket immunity from liability for companies trafficking in user-generated content. The only other industry with comparable legal protection, he says, is the gun industry. That immunity enabled the attention economy's business model. Infinite scrolling = infinite advertising = infinite profit. What follows from that error is now everywhere: autoplay, algorithmic recommendation—design features engineered to hold your attention, not to facilitate free speech. Sylvain insists these companies aren't really platforms. They are, instead, services delivering content pursuant to their bottom line. And now the same Nineties playbook—innovation, user control, free speech—is being replayed with AI. Companies are deploying chatbots before they're ready, racing each other to market. A young man killed himself after a Gemini chatbot told him to and Google invoked the First Amendment in its defence. The fix, Sylvain argues, is not to abolish Section 230 but to attend to the business model itself: data minimisation, purpose limitations, and the kind of product-safety regulation that every other industry—from automobiles to toys to food—already accepts. I should disclose that my wife runs litigation at Google, so I'm all too familiar with the counter argument. But Sylvain makes a persuasive case even if his reclamation project is still a little too Rousseauean for my Hobbesian taste. Five Takeaways•       The Fatal Error Was Ours, Not Theirs: Sylvain doesn't blame big tech. He blames us—or rather, Congress. Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act created a blanket immunity from liability for user-generated content. The only other industry with comparable protection is the gun industry. That legal shield became the business model.•       These Are Not Platforms: The word “platform” implies a neutral conduit connecting users. Sylvain says that's wrong. These are companies engineering your experience—infinite scroll, autoplay, algorithmic recommendation—to hold your attention and serve their bottom line. The free speech story is cover for a commercial design.•       The Same Mistake Is Happening with AI: The nineties playbook—innovation, user control, free speech—is being replayed with AI. Companies are deploying chatbots before they're ready, racing each other to market. Internal documents show they knew the dangers. A young man committed suicide after Gemini told him to. Google invoked the First Amendment in its defence.•       Data Protection Is the Real Fix: Sylvain argues for data minimisation and purpose limitations—rules that would only allow companies to collect information consistent with the purposes a consumer signed up for. Not to monetise it for opaque reasons. That would dampen the incentive to engineer addiction without touching free speech.•       There's a Bipartisan Consensus—but Only for Children: Something is shifting. Courts are rejecting Section 230 defences. Legislators on both sides agree something must be done. But the consensus only extends to protecting children. Sylvain thinks that's a mistake: a 36-year-old man just killed himself after talking to a chatbot. Adults are vulnerable too. About the GuestOlivier Sylvain is a professor of law at Fordham University, a former senior advisor to the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission, and a Senior Policy Research Fellow at Columbia University's Knight First Amendment Institute. Drawing from her book Awaken and her own healing journey, Candice reveals how awareness, nervous system regulation, and curiosity can help us break free from survival mode and live from embodied truth. In This EpisodeThe invisible codes we live by: How subconscious beliefs about worth, love, and safety are encoded in early childhood — and how they influence our adult behaviour.People-pleasing and fawning: Why many introverts and “good girls” learn to stay small, keep the peace, and seek validation through perfection.Recognizing your survival response: The four responses — fight, flight, freeze, and fawn — and what they reveal about your nervous system's default programming. The four stages of transformation:       Spot the code – noticing patterns and triggers       Disrupt – choosing to make a new decision       Regulate – calming the nervous system        Reclaim and Embody – stepping into your power from a grounded placeCuriosity over shame: How curiosity opens the door to healing, while self-judgment keeps us stuck in old loops.Breaking the burnout cycle: Identifying “I'm not enough” and “I'm unworthy” codes that fuel chronic overwork and emotional exhaustion. The power of rest: Reclaiming rest, stillness, and self-nourishment as radical acts of self-love.Spiritual bypassing and toxic positivity: How avoiding pain and focusing only on “good vibes” blocks real transformation.Returning to your essence: Remembering the childlike curiosity, imagination, and potency that existed before the world told you who to be.Key TakeawaysAwareness is the first step toward freedom — you can't heal what you don't see.Regulation is not a luxury; it's a pathway back to your truth.Celebrate every moment of self-awareness, no matter how small.True awakening is not about perfection — it's about remembering your innate wholeness.Connect with Candice LynWebsite: thefrequencylab.toBook: Awaken (available on Amazon)Instagram: @candicelyn_awakenStart your visibility journeyJoin the Visible Introvert Community at serenalow.com.au for psychologically safe ways to build authentic confidence and quiet leadership. This episode was edited by Aura House Productions

Many leaders today are experiencing "Quiet Cracking," a state of Burnout 2.0 where we are expected to remain high-functioning while navigating empathy fatigue and physical exhaustion. The expectation is to "power through," but this move erodes our creative vision and ability to connect with others. If you feel this internal crumbling, know that you aren't failing; you are simply reacting to a culture where logic alone cannot solve our most polarizing global challenges. To help you find your way back, I am sharing a 7-minute somatic centering practice. Why We Center Centering is a practice that helps us stay present, connected, and open - even in the face of suffering. By returning to this physical place in our bodies, we: Counteract "Quiet Cracking". Move from automatically "powering through" to finding a grounding presence to be with what is emerging. Prioritize Human Sustainability. Align your body's biology with your actual capacity for leadership to find a pace that can sustain your available energy rather than deplete it. Reclaim the Present. Stop "leapfrogging" over your life by reconnecting with your tissues to land in the present moment, all that there is. Cultivate Resilience. Create a body-based home to return to when you are stirred or activated, so you respond rather than react to this moment. Practice Highlights In this guided session, you will: Expand Your Awareness. Soften your gaze to move out of the "tunnel vision" of crisis and toward imagining new possibilities. Connect to Purpose. Focus on your breath and your body as you answer: What matters most to me right now? to name the future you desire. Embody Dignity. Feel the length of your body as a reminder that your worth is not tied to your productivity, but simply to the fact that you exist as you are. Show Notes & Resources

How to Be Happy After Infidelity (Without Denial, Bypassing, or Pretending): 7 Real Steps Can you really be happy after infidelity? Not through denial. Not through toxic positivity. Not through spiritual bypassing or pretending everything is fine. In this deeply honest episode, I answer the question I've been asked more than any other: “Are you really that happy?” Eight years after betrayal, I share the 7 pillars that helped me move from devastation to grounded, embodied happiness — without minimizing the pain, excusing the betrayal, or bypassing the trauma. We talk about   Why happiness after infidelity is a conscious choice The real psychological roots of cheating (and why it wasn't about you) How betrayal trauma impacts your nervous system Why understanding the “why” creates emotional safety Healing invisible wounds like perfectionism, self-abandonment, and martyrdom How to stop performing and start being Why you cannot break the habit of being yourself by yourself If you're navigating betrayal, questioning your future, or wondering whether true happiness is possible after infidelity — this episode will show you what it actually takes. Not perfection. Not pretending. But rising. Top 3 Takeaways Happiness after betrayal begins when you stop identifying as the victim and choose to become the creator of your life. Understanding the real psychological root of infidelity (and why it wasn't about you) creates nervous system safety. You cannot think your way into happiness — you must regulate your nervous system, stop performing, and get real support. The 7 Pillars of Real Happiness After Betrayal Choose to rise instead of identifying as the victim. Understand the true psychological root of infidelity. Heal your invisible wounds (perfectionism, self-abandonment, martyrdom). Stop saying you “wasted” your life. Reclaim what's left. Regulate your nervous system. Stop performing and start being. Get real support — you can't break the habit of being yourself by yourself. Favorite Quote “You were victimized. But staying a victim is a choice.” LOVE THE SHOW? Not sure if it's sensitivity or stress? Take the HSP Stress Test here: https://trueinnerfreedom.com/hsp-stress-test/  Have you ever been told you're "overthinking" when you were actually just trying to understand something deeply? If you're a highly sensitive person, your need for depth can feel like both a gift and a burden. You pause before responding. You reflect before committing. You circle back to unresolved moments because you care about clarity and meaning. But in a fast-paced world that values speed over depth, that can get misread as drama, indecision, or "too much." Over time, those misinterpretations can quietly turn into self-doubt — and you may start questioning something that is actually one of your greatest strengths. In this Strategy Friday episode, we unpack why this happens and how to stop internalizing a misunderstanding that was never yours to carry. By listening, you'll: Understand the science behind the highly sensitive brain — and why depth of processing is a biological strength, not a flaw Learn how to tell the difference between healthy depth and anxious spiraling so you can trust your inner experience Discover practical ways to stay rooted in your insight and meaning-making without feeling alone or misunderstood Press play now to reclaim your depth as the strength it truly is — and stop letting misunderstanding turn into self-doubt.   Todd Smith, founder of True Inner Freedom Dreaming of a stress-free, balanced life? Step into a deeply nourishing conversation about feminine awakening, soul truth, deeper embodiment, and self-first devotion with Ann Marie Ziegler, co-founder of Aryaa Organic, on this episode of Intimate Conversations: Dark Night to Divine Light. Ann Marie shares her journey from being the "good woman" who did everything right on the outside, while feeling disconnected and suffocated within, to bravely listening to her body's wisdom when it began speaking through illness, inflammation, and exhaustion. What followed was a profound dark night of the soul that initiated her spiritual awakening, reclamation of her voice, and devotion to living in alignment with truth. She opens up about the courage it took to speak honestly to her family, end a decades-long marriage with love, and model self-honoring for her children. We explore how opening her fifth chakra and releasing shame, guilt, and people-pleasing allowed her to step fully into her power, creativity, and feminine expression. Together, we dive into how ancient wisdom, Ayurveda, and ancestral foods became medicine not only for her body, but for her nervous system, clarity, and intuition. Ann Marie shares how the Aryaa detox supports emotional, mental, and physical release, and why healing happens when we stop controlling the process and allow the body to lead. We also talk about: -Disconnection from the body as a root cause of illness -The difference between Self-first and the selfish/selfless cycle  -Speaking truth with love and without apology -Releasing shame, guilt, and perfectionism -Healing through ancestral foods and ancient wisdom -Emotional and mental detox as pathways to clarity and peace -Conscious partnership, service, and giving back as a business devotion I love this woman. I love growing and evolving with her, the CEO Kamal Hans and their company Aryaa Organic. This episode is a powerful reminder that healing begins when we listen to the body, honor the soul's timing, and choose Soul alignment over approval. It's about letting go of the mind asking WHY? and instead listening to the quieter inner heart-nudges. How to Learn from the Proverbs 31 Woman Instead of Feeling Shame

Episode Summary: Have you ever met someone who’s so impressive that you instantly think, “Yeah, I’m not doing enough with my life?” I feel that way when someone casually mentions they ran a marathon, baked fresh sourdough bread, and taught their toddler how to read, all before noon. That’s how a lot of us feel when we meet the Proverbs 31 woman. She’s the biblical overachiever who makes the rest of us want to hide behind our laundry piles. She’s up before dawn, she’s running a business, she’s serving the community, she’s investing, she’s sewing clothes, meanwhile I’m celebrating if I remember to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer before they mildew. For years, she’s kind of intimidated us. She’s been quoted at women’s conferences, printed on coffee mugs, and held up as the gold standard for biblical womanhood. And somewhere along the way, many of us started to wonder: “Is this who I’m supposed to be? And if so, how? But here’s the problem: we’ve read her as a checklist instead of a celebration. As a pressure instead of a poem. And what if—just go with me here---she’s not actually here to exhaust and shame us? What if she’s here to equip us? What if this isn’t a picture of a perfect woman doing everything flawlessly, but a picture of what God can grow in a woman over a lifetime? If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the Proverbs 31 woman, or maybe even avoided her, today’s conversation is for you. We’re talking about why she scares us, why she inspires us, and how to live out her wisdom without losing her mind. In recognition of International Women’s Day, today we’re going to be talking about How to Learn from the Proverbs 31 Woman Instead of Feeling Shame. Quotables: Today we’re diving into a passage that can make women everywhere either want to grab a journal and praise the Lord, or crawl into a closet and hide in shame. She’s the woman who wakes up before dawn, runs a business, takes care of her kids, feeds the poor, respects her husband, handles investments, sews clothes, and—apparently—never gets tired. Ever. In honor of International Women’s Day, we are going to discuss How to Learn from the Proverbs 31 Woman Instead of Feeling Shame. The Proverbs 31 woman feels impossible. Like the spiritual version of a Pinterest mom mixed with a CEO and Mother Theresa. You read it and think, “I’m just trying to get my laundry out of the washer before it sours and she’s over here buying fields and planting vineyards. Not to mention she’s up before dawn. I don’t even want to be up before I’ve had my coffee. For many women, this passage has been used as a check list. A measuring stick. A pressure cooker. We’ve heard sermons that sound like: “Real women do all of this, all of the time, and with a smile.” And most of us end up feeling like we’re failing at biblical womanhood. So, part of the reason we resist her is because we’ve misunderstood her. We’ve made her into a standard we’re supposed to copy, instead of a picture of wisdom lived out in a variety of ways. Here’s the twist about the Proverbs 31 woman. She’s actually incredibly inspiring because this passage isn’t about perfection. It’s a portrait of character, not a job description. Her life is rooted in the fear of the Lord. That’s the anchor and the heart of the whole poem. She’s strong. She’s compassionate. She’s wise. She’s resourceful. She’s dignified. She laughs at the future, which means she’s walking in confidence, not anxiety. The fear of the Lord—honoring him above all else, understanding his place as ruler in her life—creates a confident woman. There’s something else to consider. Proverbs 31:10-31 was written as a celebration. This isn’t God laying out the requirements for biblical womanhood. This is a husband bragging on his wife and a mother teaching her son what to value in a woman. One of the most helpful things for me was realizing this passage is an acrostic poem. Every verse starts with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It’s basically the “A to Z of a Wise Woman.” It’s poetic, not literal. No one woman is doing or can do all these things at once. It’s describing a lifetime of faithfulness. Not a single day of the week. Shame is a tactic the enemy uses, and we fall for it so easily, especially when we make success, approval, or accumulating things our motivation. Our value doesn’t come from productivity or perfection. It comes from intimacy with God. If we start there, everything else flows from our relationship with him. In this episode, we dive into a conversation that feels deeply personal—especially if you're in a season of striving, questioning, or quietly wondering, Is this it? Inspired by Colette's recent reading of A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, we reflect on success, purpose, and why even the seasons that look “good” from the outside can feel surprisingly disorienting and exhausting. We lean into the uncomfortable middle—the stretch where you've worked hard for something but still feel unsure of what's next. We talk about the younger parts of ourselves that flare up when plans don't unfold as expected, the urge to pull back when it all feels like too much, and the realization that joy may not come from avoiding struggle—but from staying in it long enough to be changed. Episode Highlights: [0:03] – We're back on the mic and jumping straight into existential midlife questions.[1:01] – Colette shares how reading A Million Miles in a Thousand Years sparked a deeper reflection on what makes a life “well lived.”[5:13] – The power of story: Are we meant to attain something—or be transformed by the search?[8:59] – Familiarity as the greatest seducer: Why we stay stuck even in “comfortable” unhappiness.[10:56] – Laura opens up about meeting a young, entitled part of herself when life doesn't go according to plan.[15:02] – Coaching yourself through emotional overwhelm: movement, naming feelings, and creating space.[18:30] – The fear of making the wrong choice—and why meaning matters more than accolades.[24:40] – Forcing yourself into growth: committing before you feel ready (TEDx talks, book deals, Machu Picchu).[27:13] – The marathon as metaphor: Laura's renewed commitment to the New York City Marathon and doing hard things differently.[31:35] – Why suffering may actually be the pathway to joy.[33:49] – When you want to quit everything: the difference between discernment and hiding.[35:30] – Our closing thesis: Happiness isn't eliminating obstacles—it's being willing to stay in the game.If today's discussion resonated with you or sparked curiosity, please rate, follow, and share "Insights from the Couch" with others. The 100-day moving average has been the market's most critical support level since April 2025 — and this week, it's being tested again. After Monday's selloff on Middle East military escalation news, markets broke below the 100-DMA before quickly recovering above the 50- and 20-DMA. Tuesday opened ~2% below that key level, but buyers stepped in and pushed markets right back up to close AT the 100-DMA. Here's what most investors get wrong: when markets break a moving average, algorithmic trading programs and HFT systems are ALL watching the same level — and many are programmed to SELL at the 100-DMA. That's exactly what played out Tuesday. Don't panic-sell into that action. What to watch TODAY: ✅ If markets RECLAIM the 100-DMA → potential to re-enter the prior range ❌ If markets FAIL at the 100-DMA and turn lower → confirmed sell signal; time to reduce exposure and rebalance risk The bottom line: Don't make a move before today's close. Let the market tell you what it wants to do. Episode 97: This week's episode goes straight to the heart of something many of you are living inside, even if you've never named it.Is this my fate? Or do I actually have a say in what happens next?If you're considering divorce, you already know the weight of that question. The feeling that this decision will ripple through everything. Your children. Your future. The story of your life. It can feel predetermined, almost inevitable. Like this is just how it turned out.In this episode, I unpack the difference between fate and destiny in the way I've come to understand them through my own life and my work with women.Fate, to me, is what happens when we live unconsciously. When trauma stays buried. When old attachment wounds and survival strategies quietly organize our choices from the background. It's the repetition that feels eerie and familiar. The same loneliness. The same power dynamics. The same feeling of not being enough. Different faces, same pattern.Destiny is something very different. It is not toxic positivity. It is not “just manifest harder.” And it is not a rigid script you are required to follow.Destiny is what begins to unfold when you start making the unconscious conscious. When you name your patterns. When you stop normalizing what hurts. When you reclaim your authority from systems, partners, parents, and even old versions of yourself.I walk through three essential nuances that matter deeply in this conversation: trauma complicates free will, not everything is self-created, and fate most often shows up as repetition compulsion. If you have ever wondered why you “chose” something that now makes you unhappy, this will land. And if you are asking yourself whether to stay or go, I want you to hear this: the deepest question is not just what you will choose. It is how awake you are inside the choosing.Destiny might mean repairing your marriage with brutal honesty. It might mean leaving with that same level of consciousness. The outcome is not the point. The point is whether you are repeating from old wounds or responding from integration. This episode is an invitation to stop living on autopilot and to start participating in your own becoming.Take a breath. Let it meet you where you are.Show Notes:Subscribe to Stay or Go on SubstackText 90MIN to 33777 to book a 90-Minute Session with me. ✨Text STAYORGOCOMMUNITY to 33777 to join the community. ⚡️Text EMAILME to 33777 for the free tarot guide using ChatGPT.

When one of the world's largest antimony mines went offline, the world didn't just lose a mineral source—it exposed a geopolitical fault line. China, which controlled the mine and most of the global supply, began restricting exports as reserves tightened. Suddenly, the materials behind ammunition, advanced optics, semiconductor manufacturing, and even renewable energy systems were in question. A mineral most people had never heard of became a pressure point for national security and global industry. On this episode of The Reboot Chronicles we sit down with someone at the center of the solution: Gary C. Evans of U.S. Antimony. We explore how antimony became a strategic flashpoint, why the U.S. is racing to rebuild domestic capacity, and how Evans is steering the company into a pivotal leadership role in the critical-minerals landscape.

This episode is not for the role you play. It is for you.EPISODE DESCRIPTIONWhy Women's History Month can feel like one more thing to perform instead of something to actually feelHow the identity shift into motherhood and leadership quietly puts parts of yourself on a shelf you haven't opened in yearsWhat it really means to reclaim — not dramatically, but honestly — a version of yourself that went dormantWhy restoration is less about self-care rituals and more about reconnecting with what has been depleting youHow rising can look like a quiet internal choice, not a grand gestureWhat it means to be making women's history right now, in this moment, in your real lifeTUNE IN TO LEARNIdentify one strength, dream, or version of yourself you've quietly been setting asideDistinguish between performing celebration and actually receiving itChoose one restorative practice that is unambiguously yours — not for your family or your teamUse a single word as your compass for the month of MarchPractice a guided reflective moment designed to help you feel grounded in your own risingTAKEAWAY MESSAGE If you are the woman behind Women's History Month - organizing, nominating, championing - it makes sense that you have poured out more than you have taken in. That pattern has a name: it is the cost of being capable, and it accumulates. Reclaiming yourself does not require blowing up your life. This week on Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, tackles the issue of artificial intelligence (AI) and how we might just be able to use it to reclaim our humanity. This week, we are in conversation with Jason Delambre, a Kentucky entrepreneur, sustainability consultant, and Owner of Midwest Clean Energy Enterprise. Jason is a Certified Energy Manager who holds bachelors degrees in History and Architecture, and a Masters of Community Planning. Jason lives in Frankfort, Kentucky and works with clients to maximize profitability through effective utilization of natural resources and the development of ground‐breaking energy efficiency and carbon reducing solutions. Throughout his career, Jason has developed a unique vision of the economic and energy efficiency synergies possible through innovative business, infrastructural, financial, policy, and community organizing strategies. On January 30th, we brought Jason back to campus at UofL for another conversation about AI and Sustainability, this one called "Escaping the Grind: How AI Helped Me Reclaim My Humanity." We are often told AI will replace us. But what if it can liberate us? After 20 years of "grinding" through professional obligations and administrative exhaustion, Jason took a one-year sabbatical to see if he could rebuild his life. He shared the story of how he used AI to build a "digital scaffold" around his day-to-day life—handling the organization, the planning, and the details—so he could recover the bandwidth to focus on what matters: deep connection, creativity, and being present. Shifting the "robotic" work of our modern responsibilities to a machine allowed Jason to become a more grounded human. Jason recommends these recent articles on the impacts of AI: "Researchers Studied What Happens When Workplaces Seriously Embrace AI, and the Results May Make You Nervous" (Futurism): https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/what-happens-workplaces-embrace-ai "Something big is happening in AI — and most people will be blindsided" (Fortune): https://fortune.com/2026/02/11/something-big-is-happening-ai-february-2020-moment-matt-shumer/ As always, our feature is followed by your community action calendar for the week, so get your calendars out and get ready to take action for sustainability NOW! Sustainability Now! is hosted by Dr. Justin Mog and airs on Forward Radio, 106.5fm, WFMP-LP Louisville, every Monday at 6pm and repeats Tuesdays at 12am and 10am. We talk about: Why happiness after infidelity is a conscious choice The real psychological roots of cheating (and why it wasn't about you) How betrayal trauma impacts your nervous system Why understanding the “why” creates emotional safety Healing invisible wounds like perfectionism, self-abandonment, and martyrdom How to stop performing and start being Why you cannot break the habit of being yourself by yourself If you're navigating betrayal, questioning your future, or wondering whether true happiness is possible after infidelity — this episode will show you what it actually takes. But staying a victim is a choice.”     About Lora Lora Cheadle, JD, CHt is a former attorney turned betrayal recovery coach, hypnotherapist, and author who helps women rebuild their identity and reclaim their power after infidelity and profound emotional betrayal. Send a textWant to see your PDFs think like a database and your chatbots answer with context, not guesses? We sit down with technologist and entrepreneur Max Riggsbee Jr., co-founder of Gadget Software, to unpack how compute-ready documents—what he calls semantic twins—turn unstructured content into structured, queryable knowledge that both humans and machines can trust. Max explains why simply chunking PDFs into a chatbot loses meaning, and how deep descriptors, QA pairs, and entity maps let you navigate ideas, not just pages. We go inside directed AI, where you choose the exact slices of content a model can touch, then generate summaries, outlines, or tables grounded in that selection. Max shares results from work with Signal65, Dell, and Broadcom showing fewer hallucinations, faster token throughput, and better energy use when AI is fed structured, contextual data. From there, we get practical about agentic workflows: the validator checks you need before any output ships downstream, and why human-in-the-loop review still matters. Max's “Georgia” test—person, state, country, or font—reveals how ambiguity explodes without metadata. He also breaks down a real failure in a political cartoon pipeline where an agent inferred a story from SEO slugs instead of reading the article, and how guardrails caught it.Our conversation widens to legacy and Black history. Grant traces family records from enslavement to land ownership, underscoring how caricatures like Jim Crow distort truth when they calcify into the story we're told. Maxwell introduces Then Is Now, the audio diary project he runs with his 90-year-old father, using authentic voice recordings and AI to frame the surrounding historical context. We talk about scanning non-digital originals like the Pentagon Papers as a stepping stone to microfiche, county archives, and the overlooked documents that can restore names, places, and property to the record. On the technical edge, Max shows how rich textual descriptions can stand in for heavy images, enabling vision models to re-render diagrams on demand, making insights lighter and more scalable. If you work with unstructured data, lead AI projects, or care about preserving the story with accuracy, this conversation gives you a roadmap: structure your sources, validate your agents, and keep humans in charge of meaning. Episode Summary: Trials and crises are inevitable. Jesus warned us they would come. While we cannot choose the trials we face, we can choose how we respond to them and look at them as opportunities to grow and learn more about God. In this episode of Your Hope-Filled Perspective, I am joined by Lynne Rienstra, author of the inspiring book Sacred Refuge: Finding Unexpected Shelter in Your Crisis. Lynne shares how her personal life crisis became a gateway to discovering God’s indestructible shelter. Through her book, she introduces women to a sacred sisterhood that unites modern and biblical stories of overcoming fear, loss, debt, and loneliness. Together, we explore how God’s love and compassion provide a soul-safe refuge, even in the midst of the most difficult challenges. Quotables from the episode: When COVID hit and like a lot of people, I just kind of went under fear. And after a week of not sleeping well, not eating well, kind of like what's happening and what's coming, I said, "This is crazy. "I am a blood bought and beloved child of the living God. "I am not going to let the enemy have any more time in my headspace or my spirit. And it was a time to boot him out and say, “you're done. I will not live in fear.” The Bible actually says, do not fear 365 times, right? One for every day of the year. And that was over. And then I started realizing if I'm dealing with fear, maybe other women are dealing with fear and struggling to find this safe refuge in who God is for us. This is an invitation, as you mentioned, for women to come out of hiding, which is what fear, of course, puts us in, and into a soul -safe place that Jesus has built for us in the gospel. He is so good and so powerful he can actually use the worst of circumstances for our good, which is to draw us to himself and to make us more like Jesus. I've learned how to do this over the years, to identify his lies. And then because he's a liar and the father of lies, you flip them and you begin to hear in scripture and in the voice of the Lord, the truth. So, all three persons of the Trinity have something very specific to tell me about who I am. And that means that his Father's heart is delighted in us. That's the invitation to take off the masks. That's the freedom that Jesus has purchased for us. Crisis comes with a gift. It's the gift nobody wants. I've had seasons of my life as a Christian speaker, as a pastor's wife, as a leader, all those things, where I'm just like, you know, I just want to veg out. I just want to take three hours and binge something on Netflix, or I just want to eat that half thing, a half carton of ice cream, or I just, I want to check out. And I call those my other lovers, the things I go to apart from Jesus, who is our first love, Revelation tells us, right? - Yes. - When we turn to those other lovers over anything, overeating, over drinking, working, busy -ness can be another lover. Scripture References: Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Isaiah 61:10 “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Isaiah 49:16 “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands…” Psalm 91:1-16 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly plague. He will cover you with His feathers; under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the calamity that destroys at noon. Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, no harm will come near you. You will only see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD your dwelling—my refuge, the Most High—no evil will befall you, no plague will approach your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and cobra; you will trample the young lion and serpent. “Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him. When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.” Recommended Resources: Sacred Refuge: Finding Unexpected Shelter in Your Crisis by Lynne Rienstra Sacred Scars: Resting in God’s Promise That Your Past Is Not Wasted by Dr. Michelle Bengtson The Hem of His Garment: Reaching Out To God When Pain Overwhelms by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Today is Going to be a Good Day: 90 Promises from God to Start Your Day Off Right by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Breaking Anxiety’s Grip Free Study Guide Free PDF Resource: How to Fight Fearful/Anxious Thoughts and Win Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Hope Prevails Bible Study by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Free Webinar: Help for When You’re Feeling Blue Social Media Links for Host and Guest: Connect with Lynne Rienstra: Website / Instagram Connect with Dr. Bengtson: Order Book Sacred Scars / Order Book The Hem of His Garment / Order Book Today is Going to be a Good Day / Order Book Breaking Anxiety’s Grip / Order Book Hope Prevails / Website / Blog / Facebook / Twitter (@DrMBengtson) / LinkedIn / Instagram / Pinterest / YouTube / Podcast on Apple Guest: Lynne Rienstra serves Samaritan’s Purse as a regional director and has seen crises up close through her travels. What if, quite literally, your life depends on it? Dr Courtney Conley is an internationally recognised authority on foot mechanics and gait dynamics and the founder and creator of Gait Happens, which provides evidence-based foot education for athletes, movement professionals, and regular humans like you and me. She has over 25 years' worth of clinical experience, and has worked with a wide variety of organisations, including New York Yankees, New York Giants and The San Francisco 49ers. Her first book Walk: Your Life Depends On It is a fantastic read, officially comes out on May 5th, 2026 and is available for pre-order right now. In our conversation, we discuss why walking should be considered a physiological necessity, potentially on a par with sleeping and breathing, why Courtney believes that our feet are the most neglected part of our bodies and how modern footwear has put fashion ahead of function, with some serious unintended consequences. We also discuss why our big toe might be the most important joint in our body, how our walking speed can predict our future health, and why even a small increase in daily steps can dramatically reduce your risk of cancer, dementia and depression. Throughout our conversation, Courtney shares plenty of practical advice, such as simple foot assessments you can do at home, easy exercises to build strength and mobility, and a clear framework for choosing better footwear for yourself and your children. Courtney wants to help as many people as possible reclaim the true function of their feet. Her message is one of hope and empowerment and I am quite sure that this conversation will give you a different perspective about the importance of walking and inspire you to start taking a bit more care of your feet. Today, I am thrilled to connect with Dr. Sonya Jensen, a naturopathic physician on a mission to transform how women understand themselves and their bodies. She believes women are central to their families and communities, and by supporting women, we create a ripple effect that supports the whole. In our conversation, we explore the sense of selfishness many women feel when advocating for their needs, and why choosing ourselves, especially in midlife, is essential. We discuss science-versus-soul transformations, gestational silence and trauma, and the physiological effects shaping this generation and those to come. We also unpack how stress impacts the immune system and autoimmunity, why stress reduction techniques are the key to vagus nerve activation, the link between mental health and hormones, womb-wisdom and generational influences, how grief and sadness can influence us profoundly, and the value of trusting our intuition and embracing the gifts of aging. I know you will enjoy this discussion with Sonya Jensen. She shares a gentle, loving, and kind message for women- one that is well worth reflecting upon. Be sure to keep an eye out for her upcoming book, Heal Your Hormones, Reclaim Yourself, scheduled for release in early 2026, where she connects hormonal chaos, emotional overload, and relationship pain through her integrative method. After the recording, Dr. Jensen noted a clarification: there were 50 famines in total during British rule in India, not 50 famines in a single year. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: How awareness practices can help you become more physically regulated when things feel overwhelming Why friable emotions are not due to personal failure or a faulty mindset How to reconnect with your body The benefit of body-based practices for supporting nervous system regulation    What is womb wisdom? How womb wisdom influences the way we show up in the world Some of the biggest obstacles to women's healing Why so many women struggle to trust themselves Why loneliness can surface as women age, and ways to counter it   Connect with Cynthia Thurlow   Follow on X, Instagram & LinkedIn Check out Cynthia's website Submit your questions to support@cynthiathurlow.com Join other like-minded women in a supportive, nurturing community: The Midlife Pause/Cynthia Thurlow  Cynthia's Menopause Gut Book is on presale now!
