He's been named Coach of the Year in back-to-back years and is the all-time winningest coach in school history. In this conversation, Mike shares how he uses Mudita to build culture, how to help people get out of slumps, and why discipline and consistency are superpowers. Key Learnings (in Mike's words) Mudita is a vicarious joy. Can I be happy for another's success as if it's my own? To me, that is like the secret sauce of life. Obviously, in a sports team, not everyone can be the star. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the star rotates. Yeah, you need a superstar to compete at the highest levels, but to win, you're going to need pinch runners, you're going to need the guy laying a big block. It's going to take everyone. It's really celebrating everyone's contribution. In recruiting, I ask parents: Can you be happy for another kid's success as if it's your own? If your neighbor gets a new car, are you happy for them? Or do you say, "Oh, I wish. I bet his parents bought that for him." There are just different ways to show up for people, where you can just have joy. By pouring yourself into others, especially in sports, I think it frees you up to perform your best. Envy is a natural feeling. I don't want anyone to feel that envy from me. I think what we're saying is that envy is a natural feeling. Wanting to do great yourself, those are very natural, and I want people to live in that space. But can we just stop it and be a little bit more intentional and just celebrate what other people are doing well? Spot the good first. As a consultant, there are two ways you can do things. One is to find the negative, and that's really easy to do. But I try to go and spot the good first. There's plenty of time to nitpick later on. Find some opportunities to help people grow. People love to talk about themselves. My wife is very quiet, a great listener, and people love her. She has a million best friends, and no one knows it because she doesn't talk a whole lot. She just listens. If you can just listen and get people to talk about what they're passionate about, it's a life secret. You can tell when someone's really passionate about what they're doing, and you can tell when they're on the fence because they speed up when they talk, they get a little excited. Curiosity is a great way to show love. If you approach it from envy, we don't unpack the cool story. But if you lead with curiosity and not envy, it unpacks everything. I do think it takes a level of self-awareness and comfort in your own skin. How to build self-awareness: Read, write, and get around wise people. If you read a decent amount, if you write (and that was my forcing function, to actually write and put thought to paper), and then get around wise people and just have conversations, I think you'll start building out the awareness of who you are and what you value. A systems thinker builds frameworks that outlast individuals. It's someone who can build out frameworks that are built to put people and the organization in the best spot to win and be successful. It's a framework that outlasts individuals. Coaches may leave or players may leave, but if you have a system built out that it can sustain losing certain individuals, because things are cranking and you can repeat the work. You can do iterations and quickly test if you're getting closer or further from your goals. I almost try to talk people out of coming here. The most underrated thing in our recruiting is when they sit with me, I almost try to talk people out of coming here. I'll say, "Hey, what's the main driver?" If they say playing time, I'm like, "Hey, that's great. That's an awesome goal, but I wouldn't come here for that. We're going to play our best players. But that's not why you come to Denison. You come to be a part of something bigger than yourself, and there are all these other places where you're going to have a much better shot at that." I'm always listening in on what they value and trying to challenge it. Almost get people to self-select out. The better your culture is, you can take chances on people. It's like Randy Moss and the New England Patriots. Tom Brady was an alpha, and you could bring people in and take a risk and see if they can conform to the culture a little bit. When you have things in place, our locker room was phenomenal. People would say, "Hey, I don't know, this kid has some red flags." I'm like, "Red flags, like he's a serial killer? Or like red flag,s like he's super competitive?" The locker room would take care of a lot of that. If there's something built out that you feel pretty strongly about, I think you can take in some of these high-risk, high-reward people because they can't damage the culture like you would think they can. Early on in that tenure, I was very, very careful with this. But now we can take some chances on people if the DNA is right. The lack of seriousness pushed people out. When I took over, I'm the opposite of the guy I played for. And every time someone quit, I would just say thank you. And I meant that too because we were going in a certain direction. There was talent. It needed more seriousness. We had enough talent that it was going to allow us to compete at a conference level. I think it's amazing when you can just put boundaries and guardrails and point people in the right direction. We just provided a little structure, a little discipline. The DNA of great teams: Roles, sacrifice, discipline, leadership, joy. Everyone has a role and to beat objective expectations. When good meets good, you have got to understand that every role is essential to the cause. Status goes away. Second, we're in this together. There's no prima donna. I think that's what happens with championship teams. For us to compete on a national level, our guys do miss out on a lot. Grades may suffer. There are trade-offs with this thing. Then I hear discipline. Discipline and consistency is a superpower. The people that I see that really excel in the professional baseball world they seem to have a maturity about them at a much younger age. And that comes with discipline and consistency. Then leadership. There's going to be someone that's navigating the ship. In my beautiful world, it would be where that person's not an egomaniac. They're not in front. They're just waiting for everyone to get out. The last thing is joy. People tend to enjoy what they're doing. They do it with a smile on their face. "Don't hire for when you think times are good. Hire for the person you wanna be around when times are bad because they're coming." An example of a great team outside of sports: The Chilean miners found roles quickly and stuck together. They had food for two days but rationed it out. They had a spiritual leader, medical guy, someone to keep them on task. Everyone had a specific role and they performed it. How you talk to your teammates is how you should talk to yourself. I had a conversation with a kid that I really admire on our team and I said, "Hey man, I never hear you talk to your teammates like you talk to yourself. Give yourself some grace." Being really hard on yourself can also be a cop out because there are ways to channel that. Sometimes people will say "I'm a perfectionist, or that's just who I am." Come on man. A perfectionist to me, they put an insane amount of work to earn the right to be. I think we use that term pretty lightly sometimes. Confidence is built through evidence. Ryan's self-talk before a keynote sounds like this, "What an opportunity to create some evidence." How to help a hitter get out of a slump: Simplify and control the controllables. When a player's in a slump, they're probably working harder than they've ever worked in their life. But I think it's almost like they're working aimlessly. So what I try to do is simplify. I had a hitter once, he's trying everything. I gave him one swing thought for two weeks. Just get the barrel to the ball. Don't worry about launch angle, don't worry about exit velo. Can you just put good wood on the ball? We're going to control what we can control. And slowly you start seeing some results and that evidence starts compounding and you get your mojo back. You gotta be intentional with your energy before high performance. As a coach, how you show up is going to be really, really important. I saw Texas A&M's coach say you have to be the opposite of what the moment requires. While everyone's excited, you need to be the calm. And then when the proverbial is hitting the fan, you have to be the one with optimism. Getting yourself in the right mental frame to handle high performance is required of a coach and a leader. Baseball teaches you to stay calm for three hours. You don't play baseball at 130 heartbeat. It's more of Can you get that thing down? And anything I do to increase it myself, I'm going against what it takes to be a successful player. People can think baseball is boring, but what you're seeing is people trying to stay calm for three hours. Does that intensity actually lead to results? It's just basic stoicism. Baseball is the ultimate controlling what you can control and releasing what you can't. I don't know if this next ball's coming to me, but what do I do now? I can control my breathing. I control my first pitch prep step. What can you control? And I would challenge you to think, does that intensity or that emotion, does it actually lead to results or not? If it's helping you be the best version of yourself, go ahead and do it. But sometimes that overstimulation, that over emotion, it's probably just putting a lot of anxiety on your people. Just regulate, stay calm and execute. What does the team need from you right now? I think a good analogy is a cornerman in boxing. My dad used to always say, Watch a cornerman in boxing because some people you gotta smack. Some people say, "Come on champ. You're the best. You're the best. You're the best." When you're walking out there, you're trying to think, what does the team need from you right now? What message? If I'm a mirror, what do they need to see? Do they need to see calm, they need to see reassurance? Are we playing a little timid and scared? And maybe you're trying to jolt them a little bit with some energy and some choice words. There's an intentionality to it. You're trying to speak some stuff into existence, even if you're making stuff up. You acknowledge it, and then you also try to point them in a direction for improvement. Life throws haymakers at you all the time. I think that's the greatest gift that we can give people through sports. Most of us experience adversity along the way. It's this unique ability to just keep moving. You reflect, you try to get better. You give yourself some grace, you move on. You just keep working through that process. As simple as it may sound to us, I don't think many people can get there. "Setbacks are temporary. I bounce back quickly." I write this down in my lineup card. You're creating evidence. It's something very simple, but I'm going to take a punch and I'll bounce back quickly. I think those are just good reminders in life. This happens. We're going to respond. Reflection Questions Mike practices Mudita by being genuinely happy for others' success without envy. Think of someone in your life who recently had a big win (promotion, new house, achievement). Were you genuinely happy for them, or did envy creep in? What would it look like to celebrate them more fully? He says "Don't hire for when you think times are good. Hire for the person you wanna be around when times are bad." Who on your current team would you want in the foxhole with you during a crisis, and what qualities make them that person? Mike asks himself before big moments: "What does the team need from me right now?" rather than just reacting emotionally. Think about a high-pressure situation coming up in your life. What will your team/family/colleagues need from you in that moment, and how can you prepare to show up that way? As we begin a brand-new year, I want to help you slow down and listen for God’s invitation in your life. In this episode, we kick off our One Word 2026 series — a simple, prayerful way to reflect on where you’ve been and discern how God may be inviting you to grow in the year ahead. I introduce the heart behind choosing a spiritual “one word,” not as a goal to achieve, but as a posture to receive. We explore two of the six words I’ll be offering this month — confidence and diligence — and look at how Scripture invites us to grow, not by relying on our own strength, but by trusting God’s faithfulness over time. Through biblical stories, key verses, and honest reflection, this episode is about beginning the year grounded, hopeful, and open — confident in who God is, and willing to keep showing up faithfully, even when growth feels slow. Main Takeaways: Listeners will walk away with: A clear understanding of what “One Word 2026” is and how it can guide spiritual growth throughout the year Why spiritual confidence is rooted in Christ, not self-assurance or performance How insecurity can hold us back, and how God invites us into a settled, faithful confidence Why diligence matters in long seasons, especially when progress feels slow or unseen How perseverance fits into God’s formation process, not as striving, but as faithful presence Biblical examples of confidence and diligence through the lives of David and Nehemiah Simple affirmations that can shape daily prayer and intention throughout 2026 Bible Verses Referenced Philippians 1:3–11 Philippians 1:6 2 Corinthians 3:4–5 1 Samuel 17 1 Samuel 17:37 1 Samuel 17:45 Galatians 6:9 Resources Mentioned: One Word 2026 Reflection GuideNicoleUnice.com/newyear Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

John Wooden viewed confidence as "respect without fear" built primarily through thorough preparation, self-discipline, and focusing on the process, not just results, enabling poise and the right to be proud. He stressed that you can't expect others to trust you if you don't trust your own preparation, and that true confidence comes from knowing what you are capable of. Wooden's "Pyramid of Success" highlights confidence as a key trait, achieved by mastering fundamentals and consistently doing your best.

Success doesn't come from flashy moments. It comes from showing up—every day—long after most people quit. In this episode, Trent sits down with Tyler Morris—entrepreneur, investor, and what Trent calls a professional grinder. Tyler didn't come from privilege or shortcuts. He grew up in a small town, learned early how to work without recognition, and built his career by outworking, outlasting, and out-learning the competition. After a successful eight-figure exit, Tyler didn't slow down—because grinding isn't a phase, it's who he is. Together, Trent and Tyler unpack: Why being underestimated can be a competitive advantage The difference between grinding and burning out Why alignment beats talent every time How delegation separates small business owners from real operators Why adding value to others is often the fastest way out of a personal or professional low point This is a masterclass in discipline, humility, and long-term thinking. Hello Beautiful, I'm so grateful you're here with me.
Chaos is indeed a ladder, as Game of Thrones claimed, and we find this out as Angel Millar joins me to discuss his new book, Transcend the Chaos: Proven Integral Techniques for Emotional Control, Confidence, and Creativity. In an age of “liquid modernity” where constant change and unpredictable pressure have become the norm, we explore how to navigate the complexity of an overwhelmingly nonlinear world. Angel will provide a unique working model to help integrate spiritual depth with professional and personal growth. We delve into practical techniques for emotional control and effective persuasion, drawing on historical breakthroughs from famous artists and inventors who utilized nonrational states to solve complex problems. By focusing on both internal self-development and external application, we aim to move beyond mere survival to simplify, transform, and ultimately rise above the unpredictable nature of modern life. We're Living In A Time Where People Are Proud Of Things They SHould Be Ashamed Of
We have so much information about health, our bodies, and what will make us feel better, coming at us from every direction. If you're ready to finally hear the truth, this episode is for you. Today, host Heather Creekmore welcomes coaching client Tephanie, and Compared to Who? team member, Christian body image coach, Tara, for a moving conversation about finding real freedom from body image struggles. This episode dives into what it’s really like to join the 40-day Body Image Journey, take the next step into group coaching, and experience transformative, Christ-centered growth alongside women in all stages of life. What You’ll Hear in This Episode: Tephanie’s Story: Tephanie courageously shares how body image issues impacted her life for years—from feeling like the “heavier friend” as a child, to trying diets after marriage, and always believing thinness was the key to worth and happiness. The Power of Community: Listen as Tephanie describes overcoming her fears about group coaching, opening up in a safe space, and discovering that she wasn’t alone in her struggles. What Coaching Looks Like: Coach Tara explains how every woman shows up nervous, but together they create a sacred, honest place where transformation happens. Lasting Change: Tephanie reflects on how the journey shifted her mindset—from constant comparison and shame, to living with gratitude and serving as a positive role model for her family. Behind the Scenes: You’ll also get a peek into the structure of the coaching programs (the 40-day journey, Body Image Freedom Framework, Attunement Reset), how each builds on the last, and the real “magic” that’s only possible through Christ-centered community. Key Takeaways: There is no “magic formula” for body image freedom—true peace comes from seeing yourself as God sees you. You’re not alone; women of every age and stage struggle with body image, but healing happens in safe, supportive community. Change is possible, even if you’ve felt stuck for years—the journey may be ongoing, but God’s freedom is real and available for you, too. This is a focused conversation on offense, ownership, and why progress accelerates when action is intentional and aligned with the goal. No hype. No motivation talk. The Planisodes are Back! This series of mini-podcast episodes has been designed to help you shape your year from the inside out. Not by chasing trends or forcing goals, but by reconnecting with your true value, listening more closely to what matters to you now, and creating a plan that feels aligned, flexible and sustainable. Each Planisode focuses on one essential part of meaningful growth. In every episode, I'll guide you through a few thoughtful questions and one simple task, so planning becomes something grounding and supportive rather than overwhelming. Download your Planisode Planning ToolTo support you as you move through the Planisodes, I've created a practical planning spreadsheet you can use alongside the episodes. It gives you space to capture your insights, track your progress, and revisit your plan as you and your business evolve throughout the year. Download it here: www.melittacampbell.com/Planisodes This series isn't about having everything figured out from day one. It's about creating clarity through honesty, momentum through alignment, and a plan that grows with you as you step into the year ahead. Planisodes 3 - Working With Fear and Doubt as You Grow In this Planisode, you'll explore how to work with fear and doubt rather than letting them hold you back as you grow your business. Instead of seeing fear as a problem to eliminate, this episode reframes it as useful information. A sign that you're stretching beyond what's familiar, expanding your identity, and moving toward something that truly matters to you. You'll be guided through a set of reflective questions that help you gently unpack what you're afraid of, what's realistically at stake, and what becomes possible when you choose curiosity over avoidance. You'll also identify one small, courageous step you can take even with fear present. This approach helps you build confidence in a way that feels natural and sustainable, not by forcing yourself to feel brave first, but by taking aligned action and letting confidence grow from there. "Confidence doesn't come first. It comes from taking courageous action, even if it's just a small step." - Melitta Campbell *********************************************

The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
“How to be more confident” is one of the most common things people tell me they want, and also one of the most misunderstood. If you've ever thought, “I'll finally feel confident once I calm my anxiety, stop second-guessing myself, or stop worrying about what other people think,” this conversation offers a very different starting point. In this episode of Love, Happiness and Success, I'm joined by Dr. Aziz Gazipura to talk about confidence as something deeper than appearances or bravado. I'm revisiting this episode on why confidence is really about your relationship with yourself, how social anxiety and people-pleasing quietly erode self-trust, and why trying to look confident often leaves people feeling more anxious and disconnected. We also talk about the inner critic as a misguided safety system, how avoidance keeps anxiety alive, and why confidence grows through practice, self-compassion, and supported risk-taking rather than positive thinking alone. If you struggle with social anxiety, harsh self-talk, or the habit of saying yes when you mean no, this conversation offers a steadier, more realistic way forward. As you listen, I'd invite you to reflect on this: Where in your life have you been trying to feel confident without being on your own side? And what might shift if confidence started with how you treat yourself when things feel uncomfortable or imperfect? Episode Breakdown: 00:00 What confidence really means (and why it's misunderstood) 01:48 Confidence as your relationship with yourself 07:32 From social anxiety and people-pleasing to real confidence 12:45 The inner critic and the “safety police” 16:51 Social anxiety vs. low confidence (and why avoidance makes it worse) 22:56 How confidence is built through practice and exposure 31:11 People-pleasing and “niceness” as anxiety patterns 38:21 Boundaries, authenticity, and healthy relationships 45:03 Projected dislike and changing self-talk 50:28 Final takeaways + where to find Dr. Aziz If this episode resonates and you'd like support building real confidence (the kind rooted in self-trust, authenticity, and emotional safety), I'd love to invite you to schedule a free consultation. This is a private, secure space where you can share what's been weighing on you and what you want to feel differently. You'll answer three quick questions so we can help match you with the right counselor or coach on my team. Many people experience this as a meaningful first step toward feeling more grounded, more supported, and more confident in their lives. xoxo, Dr. Lisa Marie BobbyGrowing Self

January 8, 2026: In today's episode of Future Ready Today, I break down the most important future-of-work stories shaping how work is actually changing right now. I look at new research showing workers rank AI as one of the top forces shaping their workplace — even as pay and work-life balance remain their biggest concerns. I examine why Amazon is tightening its performance review process and asking employees to clearly articulate what they accomplished, and what that says about accountability making a quiet comeback at work. I also dig into new labor data showing more Americans are working multiple jobs than at any time since 1999, what LinkedIn's latest talent research reveals about a growing confidence gap in the workforce, and why falling job openings matter more than the headlines suggest. Taken together, these stories paint a picture of a labor market where expectations are rising, pressure is increasing, and work is becoming less forgiving — even as many workers feel less prepared to navigate what comes next.

In today's episode of Next Level University, hosts Kevin Palmieri and Alan Lazaros examine how leaders and high performers decide what they are willing to see and what they prefer to avoid. Filtering reality can feel like focus or protection, but over time, it influences judgment, confidence, and the quality of decisions being made. Grounded in real client conversations, business experience, and thousands of long-form discussions, this episode explores how people handle uncomfortable information under pressure. The emphasis is not on mindset slogans or motivation, but on awareness, discipline, and long-term consistency. Listen carefully. Hey friends — it's Amy.Today's episode is a powerful conversation about igniting something inside of you — your confidence, your expectation, and your willingness to grow.Because if we're honest, most people don't lack potential…They lack expectation. They lack confidence. And they've gotten a little too comfortable staying where they are.In this episode, I'm talking about why confidence isn't something you wait to feel — it's something you activate. Expectation works the same way. What you anticipate, you experience. And growth? Growth always asks you to step outside of what feels safe before it ever feels rewarding. We dive into the tug-of-war every human feels between certainty and growth. We want stability — but we also crave movement. And when we choose comfort for too long, life starts to feel tight… like a coat that no longer fits, yet we keep putting it on anyway. If you've felt restless, stretched, or aware that something needs to change — that's not failure. That's awareness. And awareness is the beginning of transformation. This episode will challenge you to: • Raise your internal standard • Stop repeating habits that no longer serve you • Expect more — and act like it • Commit to growth, even when it feels uncomfortable2026 doesn't need more hype.It needs intentional decisions. My hope is that today's episode helps you stop negotiating with fear and start moving forward with clarity, courage, and conviction. You're not behind. You're not stuck. You're just being invited to grow.Connect With Us:Website: https://www.youaremore.comFree Download: 5 Steps to Win Through AdversitySocial Media: Follow us on Facebook and InstagramEmail: amy@amywienands.comEpisode Minute By Minute:00:00 – Igniting confidence, expectation, and growth for a new year02:20 – Why most people want change but don't experience it05:15 – Confidence is activated, not discovered08:10 – Expectation: the invisible force shaping your life11:30 – Certainty vs. growth: why comfort can quietly cost you15:00 – When life starts to feel tight, not peaceful18:25 – Why discomfort often signals growth21:40 – Releasing habits that no longer fit who you're becoming25:10 – Raising your internal standard28:30 – Making a commitment to grow in 202631:00 – Final encouragement and mindset shiftBe intentional, stay focused, and remember you are more!
Confidence isn't about being polished, it's about being believable. In this episode, I sit down with Kim Rittberg, a former media executive turned content strategist, to break down why video feels so intimidating and how to use it anyway to grow your business, build trust, and stand out online. We talk about why the camera triggers self-doubt even in high performers, how to stop overthinking your content, and why your STORY matters more than perfect delivery. Kim shares frameworks to help you get comfortable on camera, clarify your message, and turn content into connection without feeling salesy or fake. Get ready to stop overthinking the camera and start using your voice, story, and expertise to grow. In This Episode You Will Learn How to build CONFIDENCE on camera without being perfect. The mindset shifts that CALM NERVES before hitting record. How to create VIDEO CONTENT with a clear business purpose. The MESSAGE framework that makes content easier to plan. Change doesn't knock politely. It shows up fast, disrupts your identity, and forces you to question what's next even when you thought you'd finally “made it.” In this episode, I sit down with Jason Feifer, Editor-in-Chief of Entrepreneur Magazine to break down why change feels so destabilizing and how to move through it without panic, paralysis, or clinging to the past. Jason shares the 4 phases everyone experiences during change, why panic is normal (even for high performers), and how to reframe disruption as opportunity instead of loss. Get ready to stop fearing change and start building for tomorrow. In This Episode You Will Learn Why PANIC is the first (and normal) response to change. The 4 phases of CHANGE and how to move through them faster. How to reframe CHANGE as gain instead of loss. Questions that help you regain CONTROL during uncertainty. How to separate your IDENTITY from your title, role, or output. How to define WHO you are in a way that can't be taken away. How to reframe failure as DATA instead of a dead end.
