Oh boy! This one is going to be a tough one. There might be some broken tables and chairs during this Fuel podcast on Coaches. Brian Daccord and Steve Brown break down some of the frustrations between goalies, coaches and parents. Daccord and Brown explore topics including what to do if you don't get what you are promised and why you can't fight City Hall, the notion of predictable unpredictability, how the dynamic of the relationship between a goalie and a coach and a parent and a coach can and will change and how all parties might better navigate these relationships. If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, then goalies might as well be from Jupiter and coaches from Uranus. Strap yourself in, this is going to be a rocky podcast. Fuel Podcast - S01 E05: Commitment

In our latest podcast, Brian Daccord and Steve Brown discuss commitment. How do you define commitment? What are you willing to take on and what are you willing to put up with to play one of the most unique and pressure filled positions in all of sports? What do you say to your self when you question your commitment? The answers to some of these questions come back to some of our Fuel touchstones: attitude and effort, control what you can control, your strengths, your values, your personal philosophy and the most important question of self-awareness: Why? Why are you a goalie (something we encouraged every goalie to explore in depth way back in the first week of the season)? How do you know when you are over committed? What are some of the healthy ways you can get a break from the grind and being over-committed? And most importantly how do you assess your own commitment by evaluating where you are in your career and development? What do you need to do to reach the next level and most importantly are you willing to do what it takes to get there? At the end of the day only you can answer the question if you are committed enough to achieve your goals or to realistically assess whether or not you are willing to continue make that commitment and whether or not its time to end your journey. If you are committed to getting better as a goaltender, then you're in the right place. Enjoy our latest podcast. Fuel Podcast - S01 E02: Pressure

In this month's Fuel Podcast Brian Daccord and Steve Brown discuss the different types of pressure and the different tools for dealing with pressure. Pressure comes in many forms including self induced and from external influences. Among the tools athletes and goaltenders have for dealing with pressure are: recognizing external sources of stress and developing mechanisms for acknowledging those sources and adopting mental and physical processes for refocusing including breathing, cues (Be Cues and Do Cues) and purposeful habits. Also in this month's podcast you will learn to recognize the mental and physiological similarities between excitement and stress/pressure and understand who you are and where you are (and where your mental state is) when you are at your most successful. Some athletes are successful when they are calm, some are successful when they are angry, some are even successful when they are "bouncy." and all athletes use and re channel nervous energy in some way. How do you channel that nervous energy when you are your most successful self. What type of goalie are you? Where are you mentally and physically when you are at your best? How did you get there? How do you get there? How do you set the conditions to be able to play your best when it matters most?
