How is summer actually over? I feel like I was just planning our Hawaii trip and now I am sitting here printing out school schedules, filling out permission forms, and trying to gradually convince my teenagers that midnight is no longer an acceptable bedtime. The vampire schedule is officially coming to an end, friends. And I don't know about you — but this week it became very real for me. This is the last week of summer vacation before our kids go back to school. So today I am pulling back the curtain and sharing exactly what I am doing THIS week to get our family ready for back to school — the real, practical, unsexy stuff that actually makes the transition smoother. Not a Pinterest perfect version of back to school prep. My actual list. The things I am doing right now in my own home with my own teenagers. So let's dive in. Reminder: Quick Announcement We have some fun things coming up THIS WEEK: We have an amazing event called A Week That Works coming up THIS FRIDAY, Aug 7th 9-12pm. This episode is presented by Create A Video – It took six weeks (for some unknown reason) for the famed Oxford Union debating society to publish its video of the debate over whether "the West is right to be suspicious of Islam."

Host Ben Plumley speaks with Solange Baptiste Simon and Othoman Mellouk of the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC) about their packed treatment pre-conference and concerns that treatment is being sidelined amid heavy focus on PrEP and prevention. They argue the prevention-versus-treatment framing is false, emphasizing a continuum from testing to prevention to treatment, and describe on-the-ground chaos as HIV services are integrated into broader chronic care with overstretched health workers and communities. They discuss a “strange” AIDS 2026 marked by funding cuts and reduced PEPFAR influence, uneven country leadership, and a shift from scientific innovation to challenges of financing, manufacturing, regulation, and equitable delivery of long-acting technologies. They caution against product-driven responses, stress human rights and stigma realities, and conclude that community power, involvement, and resourcing remain central to sustainable solutions. 00:00 Welcome and Guests 01:08 Treatment Preconference Highlights 03:13 Prevention vs Treatment Debate 05:00 Continuum of Care Reality 07:34 Clinic Integration Chaos 10:07 Conference Avoiding Hard Truths 14:58 Post PEPFAR Future 18:39 Product Hype vs Access 22:58 Fiscal Space and Priorities 25:13 Beyond Biomedical Fixes 30:19 2030 Targets Reality Check 32:29 Crossroads and Policy Choices 36:15 Community Hope and Closing 38:23 Final Thanks and Signoff Guests: Solange Baptiste Simon Executive Director, ITPC Othoman Mellouk Access to Medicines & Diagnostic Lead, ITPC ITPC Global https://itpcglobal.org AIDS 2026 https://www.iasociety.org/conferences/aids2026 Check Out Ben's Substack: https://substack.com/@benplumley1 Join the Conversation! This episode is presented by Create A Video – Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants rushed the Spanish border from Morocco over the past several days, overwhelming the tiny city of Ceuta. But the Spanish government refused to declare a national emergency. Which makes sense considering the current administration has promoted amnesty for illegals and his fellow leftists have called for the importation of foreigners to "fight the far right." But given its history, you'd think Spain would remember what happens when it gets a large population of Muslims inside its borders.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-pete-kaliner-show--6946691/support.Subscribe to the podcast My preferred podcast platform: SpreakerAll the links to Pete's Prep are free!Get exclusive content here!Media Bias Check: GroundNews promo code!Advertising and Booking inquiries: Pete@ThePeteKalinerShow.com

Episode 267: Five Considerations When Teaching Mission Prep came from a thoughtful question I received from a stake mission prep teacher who wanted to better prepare future missionaries to confidently open their mouths and share the gospel. As I thought about her question, I realized that preparing someone for missionary work isn't about teaching them to fit a certain mold. It's about helping them develop communication skills, embrace discomfort, and trust the unique gifts God has already given them. Whether you're teaching mission prep, training missionaries, serving a mission yourself, or navigating life after your mission, these five considerations will help you approach communication with greater confidence and authenticity. In this episode, I share why there isn't any "missionary magic" that suddenly appears when you put on a name tag, why awkwardness is part of learning something new, and why there isn't one perfect way to teach, testify, or connect with people. We talk about letting go of the pressure to say everything perfectly, choosing curiosity over performance, and recognizing that your greatest strength as a missionary isn't becoming someone else—it's becoming more of who God created you to be. I also explore why every missionary brings different strengths to the work and how those individual gifts allow them to reach people in ways no one else can. If you've ever wondered whether you're outgoing enough, confident enough, or "the right kind" of missionary, I hope this episode reminds you that God isn't asking you to become someone different. He's inviting you to expand who you already are. I hope Episode 267: Five Considerations When Teaching Mission Prep gives you greater confidence to trust yourself, communicate from your heart, and discover your own best way to share the gospel. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. Matthew 14 gives us two banquets, and two very different kinds of kings.Herod feasts inside a palace, surrounded by wealth, spectacle, and powerful guests. By the end of the night, John the Baptist's head is carried into the room on a platter. Then Jesus gathers the hungry in the wilderness. No palace. No guest list. No VIP section. Just grass, hunger, compassion, and bread placed into the hands of God.In this Mass Prep, we explore what these two feasts reveal about power, Catholic leadership, luxury spiritual experiences, and the uncomfortable question of whether we sometimes look more like Herod at the banquet than Christ among the hungry.Every kingdom eventually sets a table. The question is what it eats.

I learned this the hard way back in my baby travel advisor days, and I saw it happen all over again at a recent workshop where advisors kept turning warm-up posts into sales posts. So let's talk about why that pushes the right people away, because nobody hands a complete stranger $10,000 to plan their trip, amiright??I'm walking you through the three jobs your posts should actually be doing, Meet, Connect, and Convert, so you can stop yelling "book with me" into the void and start building the kind of trust that leads to real bookings. Your feed is a place to build relationships, not a billboard, and once that clicks, everything about your marketing gets easier. Questions this episode answers:Why isn't my social media selling as a travel advisor?Should every social media post be a sales post? How often should travel advisors post on social media? What types of social media posts should travel advisors make? How do I build trust with clients on social media? What's the best call to action for a social media post? Why do my salesy social media posts push clients away? How do I sell travel on social media without being sleazy?Enjoy and take action!---------------------------------------------------------------Rita M. The Nutrition Diva's Quick and Dirty Tips for Eating Well and Feeling Fabulous
873. Colonoscopy prep flushes everything out of your large intestine, including the trillions of bacteria that make up your gut microbiome. So once it's over, is that a chance to rebuild your intestinal flora better than before? A listener named Fred wondered the same thing, and when he asked his gastroenterologist, the idea got pooh-poohed. In this episode, Monica digs into what colonoscopy prep actually does to your gut bacteria, how quickly a healthy microbiome bounces back, and whether that reshuffling opens a real window to influence which species take hold. She shares her common-sense approach to restoring gut flora afterward, from the fiber-rich foods that feed beneficial bacteria to the fermented foods linked with greater microbiome diversity, plus the two things worth easing off while your gut recovers. And she weighs in on whether probiotic supplements are worth your money or just wishful thinking.Nutrition Diva is a Quick and Dirty Tips podcast, hosted by Monica Reinagel.New to Nutrition Diva?
