In the UK its estimated that over 430,000 people are suffering from compulsive gambling addictions. Picking up your phone or tablet is easier than a walk to the bookies. As much as it can be applauded that gambling shops are working hard to reduce statistics of their industry ruining people’s lives, its also acknowledged in this episode more can be done. Darren was very brave to accept my invitation to come on the Healthy Distraction podcast and discuss what used to be his habits but also sharing his coping mechanisms and how he escaped such a bad addiction. It’s a very secretive addiction and I hope all that listen to the episode understand this. Healthy Distraction ❤️

Episode 4 Sober October for some people may be the start of someone’s journey or continuation of stopping themselves from touching alcohol. This episode will focus on a a 1 to 1 chat I had with the creator of a page called Sober Buzz Scotland , Life Coach and most importantly recovered alcoholic Kirsty from Edinburgh. Discussing about her realisation of when she recognised she had a problem with alcohol, what she did to distract her mind and what professional help she accessed when going through some tough times. This podcast was the first 1 to 1 I conducted, with Kirsty’s humour and bubbly personality it brought that sense of seriousness to a conversation without it being all doom and gloom. This was a fun podcast it record. I can’t thank Kirsty enough and I will take her page on Instagram and Facebook. You don’t have to drink alcohol before 12 in the day to be labelled an alcoholic. Whether it’s you , a parent , a friend , or someone you know of , this useful conversations discusses a serious of great techniques and tools someone can use if their having a bad day. This is episode number 3 of the Healthy Distraction Podcast. It’s fun time for the podcast with such success so far. This episode will see us discuss the very successful therapy CBT. The podcast sees our very own local girl Catherine Quinn express her battles in life but why CBT was so important for her. We also have 2 very experienced professionals who will be on the show speaking what CBT is about and I can’t wait for you all to hear their views and opinions. It is important to remember though that if anyone is struggling mentally to reach out the appropriate people , whether that be your doctor or NHS 24.
